    The 997.1 is one of the best looking cars ever made In my opinion. This is from a simple understated elegant point of view. It is cool, but not too cool. It is showy, but not too showy. The lines are perfect. You are right, In person they look unbelievable. My dad bought one new in 2006, and still has it to this day. Even when I get board of looking at it, and I look at other cars, like Ferraris, Etc. I always come back to it. Great review!

    My father owns this exact car. He bought a used one last year. His 997 is from 2008, and I think the next year in 2009 they changed it ever so slightly with updated interiors and what not. Whenever I go home to visit my parents, I always like taking this car around town. Whether it’s to visit old friends, or visit my cousins… this car gets attention. Phenomenal car.

    As far as handling for someone who is not a professional driver, how much difference is there between the 997 C2s and the C4s? I live in an area of the country where it rains a lot so I’m curious about the wet handling especially between the AWD C4s and the C2s.

    Just my opinion but the tiptronic transmission in the 997.1 is the better option than the pdk in the 997.2 as it is far more reliable than any generation dual clutch and who honestly is going to use the manual mode in an automatic very often. If you care about interacting with the transmission just buy the manual.

    The 997.1 base is a nice 911. However, must be cognoscente of the IMS bearing issue and the bore scoring. Two real issues and two very expensive fixes or preventative maintenance.
    Well-sorted 997.1's should be in the mid $35K - $40k range depending on mileage, number of owners, and condition. Preference always to the manual 6 speed.
    Lots of beat 911s out there with a lot of owner history you don't want to know. Many available on back alley used car lots in CA, NJ, TX, etc.
    Older models frequently purchased by people who can barely afford rent and maintenance will take a back seat. May even have a repossession in its history.
    Take the time to find a good one and pay a bit more.

    Lexus and the Porsche are the true legends.

  • @AbsolutMassager
    @AbsolutMassager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 991.2 is my favorite 911 variant between the 996-992 and still hope to have a 991 but with how inflated prices are on them, some generic Turbo/Turbo S models going for as much as $300k unlike pre pandemic they were 120-200k for a 991.2 Turbo/Turbo S cabrio if those prices stay that high I’ll happily stick with the LC500 and just rent Porsches and other fast cars I can’t legally enjoy on normal streets and play with them at our vegas race tracks. For $300-600 I could rent a 911 GT3 for hours of fun.
    I’m happy that Lexus IS going to offer more interior trim color choices for the LC500 which has been the only thing holding me back, only having Black or Brown as an option is quite boring.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Renting for the short term is a great way to get some of these expensive cars out of your system

    • @AbsolutMassager
      @AbsolutMassager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeynMotorGroup agreed, not to mention not having to pay the insurance on those vehicles and allows you variety to try. Here in vegas you can rent Lamborghinis, Mclarens, Porsche, Ferraris, etc all for a few hundred to $2k per day which is plenty of time to get it out of one’s system. Meanwhile keeping the LC, and other reliable vehicles in the garage.
      You hear that the 2022+ model years of LC500 will get the new interior option similar to the 2021 LC500 convertible inspiration series?

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AbsolutMassager Oh yea if you're in Vegas with an LC, you're doing the right thing that place is an exotic car rental utopia, just enjoy the exotics that way. In NC we don't have nearly as many options for renting.
      Yea I made a video on my thoughts on the 2022 LC, they reintroduced a blue/white interior but I was really hoping for an F Sport variant to come out, not necessarily a full TT V8 F but an F sport with a reworked exhaust etc.

    • @AbsolutMassager
      @AbsolutMassager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeynMotorGroup I completely agree, I don’t get the point of the F sport SUVs and not bother to give the LC an F sport package. Bad enough there’s no transmission cooler for the V8 like the RCF, GSF, ISF have which makes track and canyon carving of the LC that much more fun.

    • @AbsolutMassager
      @AbsolutMassager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeynMotorGroup another perk I should mention at least in my state with regards to the LC500 is the insurance group. If I got a new LC500 to replace my 2010 Infiniti G37 coupe my insurance would only go up by $14/mo but if I get a Lexus LS500, a Porsche 911 991.2, McLaren 720S to name a few my insurance would go up by $150/mo. So the LC500 is not only great as a GT car but great on the wallet for long term insurance rates.

    Great Vehicle Assessment ! The "IMS" failure rate on these 997's is around 50% and according to DeMuro will require an engine replacement. Best not to risk it and budget the 5-6K to change it out right away if the previous owner did not. BTW - How does the air conditioning perform in these models ? Many owners state it is very inadequate in its cooling ability in hotter climates. Really appreciate the insight fella' - 🔜 💯 👌

      M97 engine received the 3rd gen IMS bearing. Due to the large diameter and placement inside the shaft, it cannot be replaced without an engine rebuild. The reason Porsche designed it as “do not touch”. Failure rate is so insignificant and rare that I don’t lose any sleep over it. However, Bore Scoring (which requires engine rebuild) is so common that it’s inherited especially as milage gets over 100,000 kms that you may want to spend the time researching some prevention. Prospective buyers of Cayman and 911 should do a bore score in their PPI.
