I went into my local gunstore late last year. They had both the DW Guardian ($1400) and Nighthawk ($3600) in their display case. I compared them side by side. Both guns, slides were tight and smooth as butter. Trigger was almost identical in my novice hand. Bought the DW Guardian. It felt better in my smaller hand. Saved $2200! Very happy with my purchase. Came with two DW mags, so bought two extra Wilson Combat mags. So far no issues. l highly recommend the DW Guardian....if you can find one nowadays.
Nice find. Thanks for watching
Another great video as always. Nighthawk makes really nice 1911’s but I can’t justify spending $4-5K on a gun. My budget isn’t there. For me, $1,200-$1,800 is my sweet spot for a nice 1911, all steel, government sized in .45 acp. My wife doesn’t get upset in this price range. My daily carry and the gun I trust my life to is a Kimber TLE II in .45. It always goes bang when I want it to and it shoots my defensive JHP ammunition in 230 grain without a failure. Always look forward to your 1911 review videos.
I get it...$$$$ is always an issue. Thanks for watching
Great comparison of the two 1911s Sarge . I have Dan Wesson Vigil that is very well put together and shoots great. You have to buy within your means. You have awesome channel Sarge and God Bless.
Thanks Bro. I appreciate it. Shoot safe
Had problems with my CBOB and Guardian so, I now have a LBCC and I love it.
LB makes good atuff
Thx for the comparison review. It really does come down to what we can afford to invest. My Kimber was about half the price of the Dan Wesson. Of course, I’m still looking forward to getting through two magazines without a jam…
That is Kimber. Polish the ramp and keep shooting.
Carry question for you. If you carry a very expensive gun for every day carry and you involved in a shooting it will be confiscated by the police. God knows how long it would sit on an evidence shelf and what abuse/ neglect it would endure. Since most shootings are up close and personal would you be better off with a less expensive gun that you could still count on to go "bang, bang, bang?"
I have a $400 Tisas and it never had a malfunction and eats any magazine I throw at it.
@lens7859 I have an early one and itnis not so good. I have heard .any say they have improved. Thanks for watching
@roberttowsley8958 it is justified? Is your life worth it? Will it matter if you live?
I own a Dan Wesson Valor and it will shoot any type of ammo you use in it. The gun is made so well and is a real pleasure to shoot. To me, it's on the same level of any custom 1911.
I also own a Dan Wesson Valor. It is a great weapon. I javelin had 0 issues with it and I have shot over 2,000 rounds through it.
Have not javelin. Autocorrect strikes again!!
I like the DW
good deal
Enjoyed the comparison video! Thanks for the great content on every upload you do.
Thank you. I appreciate it
I got to say I like the Dan Wesson better except the trigger. No issue with trigger pull just the trigger itself. Looks great with the hammer, trigger and guide rod different colors or the mix of satian and blue. Truthfully if I had 4000 dollars to spend on a 1911,I still wouldn't want the nighthawk custom . I think at that price point you should be getting a titanium frame and slide
Not just blued steel. It's a very nice gun, but I feel like there's more value in the Dan Wesson. As for pride of ownership I think a true custom colt is the most important.
I own a rock island 1911 in 9mm and a ruger commander size in 45acp and a browning black label in 380 acp. I'm proud of all three. Maybe I'm an idiot but I think if someone has a 1911 and they aren't proud of it, they should just get a glock and call it a day. Just my opinion.
A Glock? That is a dirty word here
My Guardian has a 3.7# pull after just a couple hundred rounds through it. Same weight as my ECP and Valor. The Specialist is a little lower at 3.5#. Great guns and you can tell the craftsmanship getting four guns tuned similarly.
great thanks for watching
Another great review as always, I may be speaking out of turn but have you ever reviewed the Bul 1911 as an out of the box review, I have one and it is outstanding, I waited for 8 months for a D W, then found this .
I have not seen a Bull, ever
My three made by bul armory 1911’s are awesome also. (Bul commander, mr gov and mr undercover).
@@willwilliam217 great. Thanks for watching
I have a Dan Wesson vigil commander and absolutely love it 1299.99 out the door. Well made piece. The only thing I found is the Dan Wesson hammer has started to rust. I do keep all of my hardware well cleaned and oiled. I just noticed this the other day. I use ballistol on everything, if it is that, does anyone out there suggest a better product please let me know . Thank you
You are not the first person ibhave heard this with DW
Thanks, I enjoyed it. FOr the average guy who can only have a "few" 1911's, I like my Wilson Combat's.... and my Dan Wesson's. Dan Wesson Valor or Guardian are an excellent pic.
Great handguns. Thanks for watching
@@SGT1911 Looking forward to your Bul Armory Commander 45 review.
@@johnjackson7464 when I can get one
I have 2 Dan Wessons, a Vigil in 45, and a Guardian in 38 Super. Both flawless from day one. Followed break-in procedure to the T. Love them.
I agree 100% break them in, and they will never disappoint
I have a Dan Wesson that I’m happy with. Can’t afford a Nighthawk. Both nice pistols
I love the DW. My buddy does not.
I would say that the NIghthawk being a steel frame gun compares better to the Valor V-Bob. I have both the Guardian and Valor V-Bob. Both are great guns and function very well. I know that Nighthawk are top shelf, but i couldn't agree more that for half the money, you can't beat the DW. Keep up the great content!
Thanks for watching
Dan wesson makes great firearms, love my guardian in 9mm accurate to 100 yards reliability perfect smooth as silk
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the awesome review Sarge! I have 1 DW and I love it, as you get above them the pricing rises pretty good. I just purchased a Staccato P and even though it's not in the Lord's caliber I believe she's going to be SWEET! You have always said even a cheap 1911 is better than a polymer gun. LOL Thank You for your Service and God Bless Sir!
Stay safe Bill and thanks for watching
I own 2 DW. One a Classic Bobtail Cmd and a Specialist. Both are great guns and I honestly don't think I'd get a lot more gun for over 2k more for a custom gun.
Hard to justify 2K for better than a DW
Another good video!
I really like my Dan Wesson Specialist!
Thank you. I have like the DW's as well. Shoot safe
I have 1 Dan Wesson. The Specialist in 10mm. I've been disappointed. I only have 200 rounds through it, because it will not run reliable on range ammo. It is reliable with Underwood 220 gr hard cast, but that's an expensive break in. I'm hoping it will get better, but it's pretty much a safe queen. My Sig P220 Legion 10mm has been 💯 reliable no matter what I feed it, so it goes to the woods with me
Polish the feed ramp, and you should be good to go.
Picking up my guardian 45 acp tomorrow also have the vigil great video
Great. The Guardian is a really nice handgun. Light, easy to carry. Pretty for a pistol
Unless you're a real 1911 expert ( sometimes not even then) people will always default to what they've seen on t.v. or the movies. They think every 1911 is a 900 dollar colt. I belong to an out door gun club and walking around with your Sunday best in the holster and the only name they can come up with is colt. Could be a 10,000 cabot and they're still going to say, nice colt. Until you take it out and try to explain the differences they can't tell cheap from expensive.
You get it.. untill you have had better, you don't know better. Thanks for watching
I just re-subscribed to your channel. TH-cam is up to their old tricks.

Hi Sarge. 👍 I'm more in the Springfield RO price range.

I really liked this video! After i saw your video on the Guardian i broke down and bought one! Beautiful gun and my first 1911! I think we share a taste in guns! I also just bought a Staccato c2! Have you had any dealings with those? Nighthawk one day😅
I have a C2 and a video here on it. Really nice handgun
What about a 1911 collection video sgt1911?
An idea, I will have to think about it. I am not sure the work needs to know. Unless of course I share the 50 cal at the end
I had a Dan Wesson Vbob that gave me trouble brand new that I sold. They are solid guns if you get a good one. Nighthawk all the way. I’d save an extra 8 months and get higher end pistol. Once you hold it you’ll understand 🇺🇸🇺🇸
100% agree
If you live in Mi I may have purchased your v-bob. Mine gave me a ton of ftf’s until I isolated the issue after break in period.
@@willwilliam217 I have a v-bob. No problems with mine. Thanks for watching
I am curious about the problems your friend has experienced with Dan Wesson pistols. My Pointman 9 has been my competition 9mm for almost five years, thousands of rounds through it. I have no complaints. I only hope my new Colt (in .45) does as well.
I have had one as well. He has had a out everything imaginable. FTF, FTE, slide locked up.
How do you feel about the 1911 chambered in 10mm?
I have a few. I prefer the 45. Bigger holes leak more
@@SGT1911 You should go checkout the Guncrafters 1911 chambered in .50GI if having big leaking holes is important.

I took down polished my Guardian parts and its so smooth trigger is perfect. I also have the Heritage and its perfect as well just heavier. Just my two cents. Love the videos! God Bless
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it
Dan Wesson very similar Ed Brown. Great guns!
Thanks for watching
Always wanted a Guardian in .45 or .38 Super. Really really nice 1911 for carry: not too heavy or bulky, but big enough to shoot well and get good strong velocity from.
They’re very nice, but very expensive, even compared to my H&Ks and Glocks the Guardian is very expensive.
Well worth every penny
But why?
@ryannafe9252 all the reasons you gave, which none are found in glocks
My G22 and HK45C both fit those same criteria. Loaded weight for both of them is roughly identical at 2lb 3oz, the HK45C is basically identical to the Guardian in length and height while the G22 is only a little longer in the muzzle. They’re very competitive and arguably better.
@ryannafe9252 glock better? Lol Better plastic. Hk, ok
I agree. Great review
Thanks for watching
Nice comparison! I like both of them and let's face it, every guy wants to date twins. These two are close enough to count and different enough to enjoy both, so I'd brag about it either way! 👍👍
Very well put.
Fellas, I have both the DW V-Bob & the DW Guardian & both are 1st gen. Now, I don’t own the Nighthawk, but I did have a custom of another well respected builder as well as classic Colts, a Springfield, & one Kimber (turd). I can honestly state, in my personal opinion, that the Valor was my favorite. The Aluminum frame Guardian was probably 3rd. It could be the value thing that swings me as all but the Kimber are or were outstanding. Nice video also.
I have all of those as well and video here. Thanks for watching
My very slightly used 2021 dw black valor v-bob that I purchased late last year was a jam-o-matic. It took many rounds and many hours to get it reliable. DW was not able to help me out since I was the second owner. Since it works now, it is my third favorite 1911. My springfield range officer target and my colt competition top it only because I did trigger jobs to both of those, and they both have been 100% reliable. Thanks for the comparison, the nighthawk is too rich for my blood.
PS: I went thru DW 500 round break in procedure before replacing any parts to see if the fail to feed issue would work itself out which it did not.
@@willwilliam217 that sucks wish I could get my hands ds on it. Thanks for watching
I have a Dan Wesson Specialist and a Nighthawk Talon. Both in 45 acp. Both are exceptional. I prefer the Nightgawk. Ive never been a fan of alloy framed 1911s. A few more ounces in weight is a small price to be for the added durability of steel. The Nighthawk is the finest 1911 ive touched in 45 years .
I agree 100%. I have tried most of them. I keep coming back to Nighthawk
Enjoyed!
Thanks for watching
Love nighthawk!! dan wesson is reliable as heck, and well made from what everyone says.
Thanks for watching
One is steel lower the other alloy. One you can shoot +P through it and one....probably not a good idea to do so.
Thanks for watching
No offense, but why are there so many reviews comparing Dan Wesson to Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Ed Brown or in this case Nighthawk, with the latter offerings having tighter tolerances, hand fit, blah, blah, blah. Dan Wesson's are hand fit, maybe not as much as the ones mentioned, but they are. Second, I didn't know tighter tolerances is how you compare a $4k gun to a $1.8K gun? How tight do they need to be? Think about it, if its so damn tight that it won't run, its going to need a BREAK-IN period! So being overly tight is pointless, it will just cost you more money for ammo to break it in. Still think I'm full of it? Let's talk about the service pistols that were used during WW1 and WW2. Those pistols were beat up, used and abused and rattled like no other, and were so loose you could shake the slide stop right out of them (not really) but you get the idea, but they ran! Technology wasn't anywhere close to what it is now. Production vs production, custom vs custom. IMHO this wasn't a fair comparison, Dan Wesson all day. Just my 2 cents.
simply put, Dan Wesson are cheaper. They all run. kind of like Town Car vs Pinto. Thanks for watching
Both are fine Dan Wesson is an awesome pistol, gotta be careful what you buy on the gray market, I've not heard any legitimate bad on Dan Wesson. Most guns i buy new but if not i take the tim to check them over , meet the seller at a rangesee how it shoots extracts , i think its reasonable to expect a little break in time with most pistols regardless of brand an to a 1911 is a different beast it gets sweeter with time, if Dan Wesson isn't working for you , you might be better with a Glock 😂
