    This guy is right you can not bring a battery back to life by only reconditioning it. No one is telling the truth but this guy. So when the bus bars are corroded that is telling you the battery is bad and the acid is leaking out the battery. Its best to buy new modules unless you want to replace the battery every 2-3 years.

    I do like your work and enjoy your videos but the electrolyte in these batteries is not an acid. It is corrosive but it's an alkali, the other end of the Ph scale to an acid. Potassium hydroxide to be specific.
    If the behaviour follows other battery types most of the dehydration is water converting to gasses and venting under pressure.
    A little electrolyte might leak and encourage corrosion or corrosion can be from humidity in the air.

    • @antno9158
      @antno9158 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Galvanic or electrolytic corrosion is also probable given that the cathode is more effected than the anode.

      The crystals you describe are probably dried out potassium hydroxide.
      Have you considered using a syringe of deionised water to rehydrate a dry cell with minimal mechanical disruption?
      Experiment on an open cell you can see until you can do it through a tiny melted hole you can reseal easily. Restore the electrolytic paste.

    I really like this video, and I am using your balancing technique with Panasonic Prismatic modules connected in parallel to charge a bunch with a SkyRC battery charger (works great)! I have a 2008 Prius Gen 2, and need to replace the Hybrid battery pack. I have the impression that many of the Panasonic modules implemented in Toyota vehicles over the years are compatible with the 2008. Can I buy a HV battery pack for a 2015 vehicle and install the modules in my 2008 Prius? I would like to see a video where you share information on various Toyota models and if their hybrid batteries are compatible with other model years. The number of modules changes, however do the Panasonic modules change over time? Are they compatible over the years?

      you prob could and make it twice as wide and use 18650 batteries to produce 15 or so volts at 6.5 amp hours or more if you like instead of two at 7.5 or so
      bc a module is 2 units the computer will still read it as one module only thing is you wiil need to install BMS battery monitor system for safety reasons

    How do the individual cells balance? Is it the transfer of the electrolyte, internal circuitry, or does an individual cell not care that it is overcharged (dissipates the excess energy as heat)? The reason I ask is batteries naturally get out balance because they degrade at different rates it’s nearly impossible to make each individual cell the same and have the exact same life experiences as the other cells. Lead acid deals with it by more electrolysis.

    Ich battery has about 40mili liter liquid electrolyte, and if it went out time after time it is losing volume and overheating and damaging. Keep 22 degrees inside car by a/c its saves battery in good condition, also cleat air intake gasket from dast by vacoom qleaner periodically. In my country i clean filter once in 6 month in Georgia and vindows always ar closed in my car so there is less dust.

      NiMH as you know expands, and thats why theyre sandwiched and wrenched together so when they do try to expand, they cant. Thats why toyota went with this block design, to prevent expansion when installed in the battery pack and provide maximum heatsink between the layers with their dotty outershell.
