Hello , Jose I have been watching you for about 2 years now I personally think you make the most reliable videos and Helpful information . So , I am fixing my 2012 Prius V . Because The Dreaded Light came on and my car died at 200,000 miles . I found out the 12 V Battery was dead and replaced it . And the car started and drove fine but then the Light came back on at 205,000 miles the code said I needed to Replace the Hybrid Battery Pack . So in April 2023 I used my Think-car 7S Plus Scanner to Diagnose the issue and the Dr Prius Updated app . I found Block 1 Was bad and Replaced 2 Cells and it still showed bad . I thought I replaced the correct cells in Block 1 but found out now it was Block 14 cells that I replaced by mistake . I wasted all that time and effort because I did not know the correct location of the cells and the Blocks on my 2012 Prius V Hybrid pack . I just found out that Block 14 is actually Cells 1 and 2 on A Prius V 2012 . The cells start from the electronics side or Passenger side (1-28) on a 2012 Prius V . But the Blocks start from the opposite side or Drivers side . Which meant I replaced Block 14 ( Cells 1 and 2 ) Not Block 1 (cells 27 and 28 ) causing me to get the same error as before . I have not found any Video's showing the Block to Cell configurations on Here and Was Hoping you could make a comment or Video about what Cell corresponds to what Block and what are the Locations of the Blocks Such as on a Prius 2008 etc.. and others such as like mine a 2010-2015 Prius V . And How to Test each cell and Completely Check if the Used Replacement cell is good or not or just a waste of time . and We will be able to know what Cell on Dr Prius Belongs to what Block on the Battery and what is the Location of each Block and if the cell is good or bad . It would help so so Much as all your Video's do . If I had Just Known the crazy configuration of Block 1 was cells 27 and 28 and not cells 1 and 2 . So I hope you can help others in the same boat as I was . Thanks Reggie
After watching so many videos I thought I captured all the important stuff but learning about these corroded cables likely just saved me a lot of grief. Thanks again
Thank you Jose, I have been watching your videos for more than a year now and I am still learnin everytime you post up a new one, thank you for sharing your kinowledge.
how are you finding the reliability of Nexcell/Project Lithium Batteries? as long as there is not any corrosion on the have the batteries them self proven to be reliable ?
@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics I believe the hard part is getting the Nexcell/Project Lithium modules. I have been trying to get some for the last 6 months and their website keeps on saying "Sold Out" Any insights on where to get them Jose?
Should also mention the corrosion getting into the battery ECU and triggering fires. The battery main vents don't work. The negative post seal fails before the main vent and that causes all the damage. There should be a class action suit...
Hi there your videos are great! I am checking a P0AA6 code on my 2008 prius. I took out the HV battery and there was a bunch or corrosion, following your video on how to do that👍🏻. But my question is, will i need to re balance my battery or charge it in anyway or can i just put the battery back and let the car charge on its own? Also the P0AA6 comes on in park without the engine on so it’s not transaxle or inverter, definitely battery/wiring.
Hello Jose can you pls assist with the requirements you use to setup the cycling of a battery using the prolong equipment. I am living in New Zealand. Thankyou
thanks for posting this video. Where can I buy these hybrid battery electrical cables ....the orange ones that get corroded over time? I can only find them used as on eBay. I want to purchase new ones. thanks ed
Jose. Just found your videos and hands down the best videos on Hybrid Batteries. I'm a DIYer and have been having recurring problems on the same battery pack, even after changing all the bus bars and nuts. I was on the suspicion that the corrosion on the cables was the problem and just order new ones. I haven't gotten them yet to try, but after watching this video, I'm more convinced that will solve the problem. Great work!!!!!! and superb explanations.
@@edbeck1029 got them on eBay, but din't fix my problem. It turned out to be the hybrid voltage sensor battery computer which I got on Ebay too and solved my problem.
Man, I need one suggestion from you regarding break oil maintenance for my Toyota hybrid fielder 2016. Here in Bangladesh mechanic doesn't have much idea. Car users often suffers with break booster problem and ends up destroying break booster. Can you please let me know the exact maintenance for break system like when to change break fluid, and break shoe so that I don't have face break booster problem for my Toyota hybrid fielder 2016 ???
Love your videos, very informative, very practical in approach. I understand for video teaching it is best to have the entire battery out for service but can a battery service be completed by removing the top shell then replacing the cells or modules and then replacing the connections and top shell? (Highlander or RX400h) thx so much.
Dr Prius app measures internal resistance and gives a reading for each module. Is there a maximum reading. I ask because I've already installed the Nexcell in an 08 Prius and I'd like to make sure I didn't mess up. I don't think so but I did use the original harness (cleaned connections).
I drove the car today and internal resistance was between 13 & 15 milli-ohms. Battery temp was 95.8, 95.6 & 92.5 Ferenheit. Blade voltage was 8.14 with .04 Volt Diff. That all seems good. Is there anything else critical on a new battery?
@@hybridsolutiondiagnosticsthanks for the response. I had a look at them after commenting. Is the newer e-power systems the same as the one you reviewed?

He is lying about capacity. I don’t think he is going to sit there for hours just to measure capacity lol. I work on all types of hybrid and electric cars I’m also certified EV/ Hybrid tech this does not know much except hybrid battery. I actually designed a reliable hybrid battery tester I just won’t share it on TH-cam
If it's a good tester, even if it requires DIY assembly, you might consider making it available for sale. The load testers (e.g., Crore Solar) are cheap but not meant for NiMH. It would be great to have a relatively inexpensive load tester for NiMH.
@@danielhwolf I use it in my shop and it’s very reliable. It test two modules at a time instead of one, and it’s arduino based. I wrote a simple program in it. Press button it runs the test for about 2 minutes and lights up a led corresponding to each of them if one is bad or sometimes both. My customer never call me back so it’s a good tester.

Yes, it could be a bad signal due to that stupid corrosion… so have it a visual inspect and some measurements

When you are replacing your battery modules with new litium modules, do you have to charge the battery after installation and dischage it.
Not necessarily ☝️😎

Good tip re battery cable corrosion, seen this a lot on lead acid battery systems and the cable is not repairable.
Yes, it must be replaced
