Your videos are extremely informative and are appreciated. I'm in the process of running my modules thru discharge/charge cycles and so far 8 have passed and 20 to go. I didn't have any trouble codes, but decided to service the battery, since I noticed that over the last few years, the battery would jump from full green bars to low purple bars fairly quickly on occasion. I assumed this was caused by corroded bus bars as well as an out of balance battery.
If I discharge whole battery in car and then check if cell have different voltage 6.88 7.22 and 7.30 if I follow this process it will work or not need to change 6.88 cell? 🇴🇲
Yes james always before balancing make sure all modules are fully charged... ( asuming modules are all in good conditions ok ) this does not apply for old or bad modules so careful 👋😎 hope this helps...
Question: if i have a battery that has 1 module(new replaced module to prev used battery) lower than all other modules. Do i need to charge them or can i just balance them as shown on your video?
tell us about the voltage drop that a nickel metal hydride cell experiences when it reaches 100% and how that greatly interferes with a cell it's in parallel with which obviously isn't experiencing reaching 100% at the exact same moment. this is the reason they don't put cells in parallel in the car. it's okay to put cells in parallel when sitting or when discharging, just not when reaching full.
Good afternoon Jose, in the event I don't have a charger after carrying out the servicing, rotating the battery and using your mechanical balance for 72hours to balance 34 modules can I put it in the car for the car charge as an option. Many thanks for your wonderful feedback and great insightful videos I learnt alot.
Same question here. Any Thoughts? I have a 2014 camry and after running Dr Prius app Full Battery Test and my battery health shows around 95% which is excellent but rarely I will received "block 1 unbalance" code. So if I just balance the battery for 48 hours like in this video with out doing other service and recondition, will it work? Or I still have to do charge/discharge procedure with charger that I don't have. Thanks
What great information. I noticed the modules were free with no clamping. Is module swell not a concern if just balancing. Thank you for the great information.
Hi Jose, thanks for answering the lithium ion sway question. If I were to replace only 3 to 4 bad cell modules. Do I still need to balance my existing modules along with the replacement modules?
I have only dr prius app free version : pack 9 wasvweak and one of the 2 modules was 6,5v I Removed the battery. Charged the 28 modules individually with the 12v 35ah battery and cables for 10 seconds each . Above 8v each except the weak module 7,56v Used some kind of your own home made balancer After 3 days on the balancer , my overall voltage is fully equalized at 7,89 V with a few modules holding strong 7,93 v 7,94v No more weak module with the balancer in parallele In the meantime, i was very interested by the Tenergy T180 chargeur dischargeur Shipping cost + Vat It will cost €130 I'm about to check it out I will reinstall my battery this week end and see if the red triangle disapear After that , if the car is driving again normally , i will consider buying the tenergy T180 for maintenance
Hola Jose and thank you for making instructional videos! I have a question about module capacity in regards to individual modules. Are you saying that a fully charged module will regain its capacity at this point? A new module is 6.5 amp hours. Or are you saying that whatever capacity is left in that module will have each cell balanced to full level whether that module has a capacity of six amp hours or five amp hours or three amp hours?
That is a great question my friend, and a master class amazing video about that is coming... but the answer is that if all modules have same capacity the overall battery will be great... diff in capacity is what causes batteries to go unbalance 👋😎
I have a 2014 ES300H with a bad hybrid battery. I want to order battery modules from eBay to replace the bad ones. I have not taken the battery apart yet because I don’t want to be stranded without a vehicle to go to work. My questions are, are all the Toyota battery module the same? Or is there a specific type I should buy? And can I drive my car after i remove the hybrid battery?
Hello Jose, I’m very interested in your videos, would you please tell us the dimensions of the balancer you built ? There’s nothing like this in EU, and they all what to scam you… this will help me to get my battery balanced by myself.
Hi Jose. You are always a great help to all of us. I have a question if you could answer please. What should be the ideal Internal resistance of Battery modules? I'm getting 26 - 27 milli ohms for module within my Prius C batterypack. Should the milli ohms be lower than this or higher in value for good module? I read somewhere that anything greater than 30 milli ohm indicates that the battery is going bad. I will appreciate your time , awaiting your reply.
Hello i have a Prius c it goes wrong sometime when it go from rv to engine … then I got check, triangle and antipatinage … I m located in Africa and I don’t see many guys that can fix a hybrid can you help me
So should I be cycling my modules first or balance first? I’ve been cycling each module 3-8x until I het 7500/5000 mAh, once achieved, I balance. But still got a POA80 code. So I took the battery back out and changed a few more modules. How low should I balance all the modules to before putting the battery back in? I’ve read no more than 8.2 - 7.4 volts, otherwise the computer will throw another code. Is that true?
@@ancelb9590 I got the capacity of all cells restored to 7500/5000 mAh using a hobby charger. I checked for resistance using a bulb and removed the modules with high resistance and paired similar resistance modules. I then balanced for 48 hrs down to 7.8 volts all modules. I put it back in and I’m still getting a PoA80 and PoA90 warning but no specific bad cells, Took it out again and rechecking everything. Not sure what’s wrong.
@@ivannc3933 im getting your point my friend but is doesn't work like that... internal resistance is only meassure by a very fancy milli ohm meter, your main issue is that you have many weak capacity modules that can simply not hold power as much as other modules so a big diff in voltage is detected by the BMU and of course it will trigger the P0A80... cycling bad modules sadly won't fix them ☝️😥
Hi Jose. Doesn't this method hurt the modules? If there's a big difference between the modules really high current flows on those bars without any limit. I'm curious. :)
Gosh, I had better check me V8 falcon ,,,maybe the dinosaur juice has gone cold and will kill me car .... oh wait hang on I didnt fall for the lies and bullshyt ...me falcon is just fine ,,,6 dinosaurs to the mile ...and 4 co2 per litre all good here !
Muchas gracias por ser tan meticuloso en la explicación.
Un saludo desde España.

Do you have the measurements for that balancer board you made? Also is that angle brackets aluminum or metal ?

Mase sure to proper balance them and of course... make sure they all have the very same capacity...
Very useful video good job. Have you thought about making a video explaining the Toyota interlock circuit?
Yes... that video is coming very soon and it will be great...

the cells ?
Yes, see it in the previous videos...

Often if you are in hot weather ( once per year )

Module's IR varies upon temperature, but a good module rates between 8 to 10 milliohms
