Probably the main reason XY is so easy is because you get a free Lucario that just steamrolls the rest of the game. So it makes sense that speedrunners mostly use that, and just find the fastest Pokemon before it becomes available.
Btw, you have to use the girl in the Speedrun. Not because she's cute (She is), but because of a quirk in the first two rival fights: Kalem's Meowstic is much worse than Serena's, with a -Speed nature. That's important so Hawlucha can outspeed that thing.
the one time that using the male character is optimal (that i know of) is in the alola games, where it saves a few seconds because lillie gives you an extra item if you're playing as the girl

I am always confused when I look at an XY character and not see them in a 1920's mobster suit. Which might sound weird, since that is one of the most expensive clothing sets in the game. But weirdly, you can get it before you hit th second gym due to the battle chateau. It isn't even hard to get teh cash, since this game's central theme is "money".
1:34 Even in a normal game, I found Farfetch'd to be an incredible option in XY. You can trade for one or catch it very early, and it learns a lot of useful moves: Fly of course, False Swipe for bringing Pokemon to 1HP, Air Cutter which lets you get berries off trees, and Swords Dance or Roost for battles. I used it on my main team for the entire game, and only after beating the champion swapped it out for Noivern.
X and Y was the last Pokémon game I bothered finishing the Dex 100%. It felt like a full game unlike whats followed it. The side challenges, mini games and outfits were actually fun and not a slog.
Which is funny because XY were so infinished entire parts of the maps exsist for no reason and Iit’s entire post game and third legendary was put in SM. That’s ontop of what SM already had. XY is probably the most unfinished Pokemon game

Also, I've used Fennekin in X/Y, and the movepool it has until fully evolved is just ATROCIOUS, being just Ember and Psybeam, and doesn't get dazzling gleam in X/Y. It gets quite a jump once it gets psyshock, stab on Psychic moves, grass knot and Mystical fire, but is just ridiculously weak as Braixen.

@@atroecious9357 Well, is less about the water sport and more due to the fact that STAB bubble hurts a lot and ember deals less than scratch when water sport is active. Is definitely doable due to blaze but is quite slow and needlessly risky compared to aerial ace from Farfetch'd or Rollout from Chespin. And again, Braixen is just awful so there's no real reward.
A lot of people are stuck in their ways and assume that the old theory of '1 pokemon is fastest' will always remain accurate. There is no pokemon TAS I'm aware of that only uses 1 pokemon, and most games do switch mains at least once. X and Y just switches mains the most.
TAS is not a good comparison. They do unreasonable things to beat the game, like using Metronome to land moves they don't have. RTA on the other hand is usually Starter + Legendary if they give the opportunity before E4.

Imagine if you couldn't change the clock on your 3DS. If it was connected to a clock server at all times. You could only attempt a legitimate X or Y speedrun twice per year.
Xerneas is not as good as Lucario at that point (11 levels lower, no Swords Dance, Fairy Aura wastes time), and it can't beat Lysandre on its own because its moves are not good against Pyroar. You also need to hit Lv. 75 before Siebold's Gyarados, and the extra bit of exp you get from leading Lucario instead of switching to it mid-battle lets you skip a Rare Candy later on.

I really hope this is a joke... I might be getting baited right now. X and Y are the easiest games in the entire franchise. That's the biggest issue the game has. EXP was modified in this game, and you get so much more here than you used to so you level up like crazy. In a casual playthrough, no grinds, your team can reach and be over level 80 at the elite 4, which is approximately 20 levels above their Pokemon. You have to deliberately avoid fighting trainers and wild Pokemon to be appropriately leveled. I personally had a level 86 Cradily when I fought the champion. Mega Evolution also turns your Pokemon into destroying machines that will sweep your opponent's team like it's nothing. EXP Share is turned on by default and the majority of people didn't know you could turn it off, adding to the easy difficulty of the game. There's also the issue that trainers just simply do not have good teams, or good AI.

It could of easily just been that I didn't have the optimal pokemon and moves..but I remember staying up late up night many many many nights just retrying the elite 4! I ended up running out of money for revives and potions and had to grind some more fighting the rich brats in the battle cheateu.

There's really something wrong with you if you had any trouble playing X and Y. Like I said before, a completely casual playthrough ends up getting you up to around level 80 at the elite 4. You have to deliberately avoid fighting any NPCs to get a low level. The game being this easy was the biggest criticism these games received.
