@@frozenbonkchoy4986 it really isn't though, it just shows the difference in personalities, the female avatar just happens to be more interested in giving you a more in depth explanations in Emerald and the Johto remakes than the male avatar who is a bit more interested in getting straight to the point, neither is a bad thing, nor a consistent scenario since it tends to alternate between which avatar is better for speedrunning iirc 🤔

The cat vs dog thing is more of a laurel/yanny situation... but in this case, both are right.
People who call them dogs notice the dog inspirations more, while people who call them cats notice the cat inspiration more.

the rng for battles is so inconsistent and spontaneous
Small correction: the chance of winning the lottery is 1/65536, not 1/100000. Trainer IDs are a short integer, so they only range from 0-65535.
All the odds stated in the video are wrong. Perfect Raikou is 1 in 31^6 or 1 in 887,503,681, same for the starter all the while you don't even need perfect starter and Raikou, so realistically, the odds for a runnable starter and Raikou are much, much better. The odds of hitting 11 thunders in a row is 0.7^11 = 0.019 or about 2%.
I assume the numbers are made up to sound impossible to create hype but they are not reliable or correct in any way.
@@karyoplasma you forgot to accoutn for the nature in the perfect raikou, and used the wrong range for ivs. It's 1/ (32^6 * 25) or 1/26843545600, less than the rate showed in the vid

Just wanted to clarify three mistakes and a clarification I did not make in the video! Everything else should be correct!
1. I made a mistake on the probability to hit 11 Thunders. While the decimal came out to 0.02824, the percentage was actually 2.824%!
2. The chances of winning the lottery are 1/65,536 as there are also a limited amount of Trainer IDs available in the game. I put this number out there from adding Secret IDs as well!
3. Flash is not an HM, so it is not tied to Falkner. Rock Smash instead is!
4. It cannot hail in Mt. Silver on January 1st. Making it possible for Blizzard to miss on Red if we do not move the time forward or backward!
Loved the video but 1. is still wrong. That's ten thunders in a row. 0.7^11 = 0.01977
The Rai'cow' is how I've always pronounced this pokemon as a kid, as my native language reads those letters differently. I got so excited, then your fakeout slapped me in the face lmao

Flash is a TM in HGSS though, Falkner's badge lets you use the HM for Rock Smash instead, but I get where the confusion comes from, since Flash was an HM in Gen 2.
Flash isn't bad against an ai, it allows for set up thank to the ai being scripted dumb enough not to know when to switch pokemon. The ai sometime doea but not much.
It's unreliable though unfortunately! X-Items are much more consistent for dealing with enemy AI!

Knowing now how to RNG manipulate myself, I'm playing Soul Silver with a Cute Charm Glitch (for 20% chance for a shiny wild Pokemon with a Cute Charm lead, the lead gender also depends) and can RNG manipulate any egg to be shiny, specific nature or gender. Don't care too much for IVs now, but it was pretty time-consuming to learn first. But yes, you can do alot of things with it.
It took me almost two hours of resetting to get the glitch working on my Diamond game. Absolutely love the cute charm glitch, it made the game so much fun

casual players will get stopped by Miltank, but speedrunners fear the Clefairy because while Miltank can be predicted, Metronome can be ANYTHING so you're just praying you don't get a move that kills your run

It can. I have done it.
You either need to do some tricks to discover your secret ID or start a new game and manipulate your trainer ID. I prefer the trainer ID manipulation because then you can choose the nature/IV spread you get when getting your shiney.
rng manip up to gen 4 is pretty known, there are a lot of ways to manip shinies

Not a big issue, but almost all computer RNG is pseudo-RNG.
Yeee a lot of folks don't know that Pokemon isn't completely random though. It's quite fun to show how well we can break them.

@@enoyna1001 Best Of covered it primarily - I work in banking we’ll use truly random processes to generate the entropy for our private keys. But outside of big banks, the government/defense, and some tech firms the cost is too high.
in HGSS, Zephyr Badge allow you to use HM for Rock Smash, not Flash, which a TM starting Gen4.

No no it does hail during red’s fight. Of course the player could change the weather during the battle but idk how that would happen in this speedrun 🤔
Speed runners also set their date and time to have Diamond dust at the peak of Mt. Silver, negating the hail for the battle.
It does not hail if you have your date set to January 1st! You also can't change the time and date or else it will start hailing. Minor detail I missed in the video!

It's not actually super hard to get the frame perfect start. I don't speedrun, but I've used RNG manipulation to shiny hunt and I can hit my target frame about 40% of the time, so the start of each run would only take me 5-10 minutes. And speedrunners likely have far better reaction times than I do and are probably even more consistent than I am

@@TheBBCSlurpee All of the legendary beasts are named after different Japanese words for emperor (with a word referring to the associated element before it). In Raikou’s case, the name is 雷皇 raikou “thunder emperor”, and the name is pronounced like English “rye” + “koh”, not “koo” or “ku”. This can be confirmed by listening to the Japanese name as well.

Well yeah, Raikou is a sabretooth tiger, Entei is a lion and Suicune is a panther. With Raikou it's the most obvious thanks to its well massive sabre teeth and a tiger pattern on its fur.

Pokerus spreads/infects other mons that dont have it, to get it in the first place is the hard part. Once ya have it you can infect a box of mons.
Also mons eventually lose the pokerus and will have to be exposed to the virus again.
