I have the USC, swapped out the spring for a 12 FPE HW95 one, very smooth, my trigger is also the same, very light, and even living here in Spain, I convert all my rifles to between 10 to 12 FPE, no hunting here in Spain with air so targets only, dont need 24 joules for that.!! I have quite a few Cometa's, Noricas and Gamos, best places for spares are 'adeportes' and 'el jabali'.
Same here in France, no hunting with air weapons. Have been looking at Welsh Willy's Tuning kit for this rifle, and as you say between 10-12ft lbs is plenty for target plinking etc.
I had same one second hand usc. Looks same. Easy to work on. ASI sent me spare internals free. No pre load on spring. 12ftlb. After I sorted it sold back to same chap I had it off. Made a bit on deal. Plastic trigger binds but I believe brass ones available now. I had same trouble with my usual gamo pellets 15.43 hunters
I will be picking on of these in the states when the walnut stock is in stock there 24 jules here im going to get a spare spring cut and polish it fit a lightweight top hat and spring guide ect
I have one chap I picked it up second hand at the local auction. I swapped out the crappy spring in it for a Titan XS meteor main spring and replaced the piston seal with a TX 200 piston seal. Also gave the piston a once over as really sharp edges all round. Gun shoots lovely up there with my pro elite HW 80 HW90, i WOULD NOT PART WITH IT.
@@Maddogairguns I don't know how much Welsh charges for his kits these days, but chambers sell titan number ones for £19.75 and air arms seals for £8.50 giving an out put of roughly 15 ftp depending on lubrication no need for piston weights watch out for the tricky ball bearings they use on top of the safety slide.
@@davidprocter3578 Thanks for the heads up, I'll have a look. The welsh willy kit is about £70 I think, so if that other spring fits it might be the way forward. Another project rifle that's ended up on the list.😀👍
@@Maddogairguns Sorry just double checked I used a number five titan mainspring but you can measure the external diameter of your spring prior to ordering, there is a good reference chart online at the UK outdoor store.
The recoil of a springer is different than that of a firearm. It does not make the rifle flip up, it only bumps it into your shoulder, laterally along the axis of the barrel. The trick is to let it happen by holding the rifle as loosely as possible. That is the artillery hold.
@@ytucharliesierra thank you for the info , having been the in military and using many small arms including sniper rifles and now later in life shooting many air rifles, including restoring, tuning , rebuilding. I appreciate the lesson 👍
I’d have put it a bit less subtle but yes always hold on to the barrel especially when on camera as we must try to educate new shooters of safety especially when cocking the rifle. What you decide to do off camera is totally up to the person making the video but I’ve seen the damage to a persons thumb when one snapped back and took a big chunk from the tip.
De las tres marcas españolas hoy en dia Cometa es muy superior sus carabinas estan fabricadas con mucha calidad .....usa otros balines como HN o JSB los Gamo son una basura
Not a bad rifle, will enjoy getting to work on this one. Might go for a Welsh Willy tuning kit.
Ive got the same one, had new spring and seals, now is doing over 11 ft pounds, very accurate, good guns. Ive got the same slightly crappy scope too.
I've had one of these on my shortist, so it will be great to see what you do with it. 👍

I'm currently sanding down and fitting my new beeman underlever Bullpup stock so will be very interested in your stock work 👍

It feels a good rifle to shoot, a bit down on power. Was looking at the Welsh Willy tuning kit for this one.

Ive got 2 cometas, and they take alot of breaking in before they reach their best accuracy..
supporting the gun that far back in only going to increase muzzle flip ?
Don't suppose I'll get much muzzle flip with 8ft lbs, but I'll bear it in mind next time.

@@steveev5264 Uuuhm, you got me there real good. 😅 Thanks for the fill-in. 🤝
Looks like a beech stock, not walnut.
For God's sake learn how to cock and load a break barrel Springer, always hold on to the barrel while loading a pellet, safety first, 👍
Your absolutely right.
