    Was this a Boy Scout site? Amazing how deep they can get considering they were more than likely just dropped. Years of rainfall I guess. Also, I don't think I have ever seen a real good standing liberty those and barber series are almost always worn down. Cool video, thank you for sharing.

    Funny fact of detecting is the percentage of times you can come home empty handed. I've always made sure to let people know when they become aware I hunt that its not as easy as these videos make it look. I tell them its very physical and at times disappointing. If you think you will find a huge stack of gold coins , this hobby may not be the one. If you have an open mined and are willing to work hard every time you go hunting it will be better than the last. Personally I would go hunting everyday of the week, that's my fun time. Good luck !

    • @jdawson38995
      @jdawson38995  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pedro Navajas true, I've been pretty lucky I usually always come home with silver....but some days no matter how hard I try nothing! Then the next day I go over the same land and get 3!!

    • @pedronavajas3532
      @pedronavajas3532 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ive been detecting for many years now but around a year ago I got serious and went out at least once a week. Many of my friends have asked to come out with me and try it out. I've taken a few out and to their disappointment no one has ever found anything greater than pocket change. They gave up pretty soon. I think a person who has a sense of adventure who looks at things with an open mind isn't afraid of hard work and disappointment that person will love metal detecting. I truly look forward to the day of the hunt. I've got one of my buddies to like it as much as I do and it's a lot funner to hunt with a friend. Good luck finding more silver.

      +Pedro Navajas When I first got my White's V3i, it was too sophisticated for me and I got very discouraged. I couldn't find much ( I didn't understand the tones, VDI's, etc.). After more than two years, I decided to give it another try. Last week I went to a public park full of pull tabs and bottle caps. The dug up 119 coins (clad) and a brass ring. I am going back for more because the machine worked; I just had to learn to use it correctly.

    Hi. Wow! Great finds in an area you'd previously worked. Congrats! :) ~ Questions:
    1) Do you always put the dirt/grass plugs back and tramp them down? I hope so. I'm amazed you use a shovel in a public park. Here, city park workers would have a conniption if they saw that. They used to get upset over the use of just a table knife or a garden trowel.
    2) Do you usually keep what you find or sell them off or a mix of the two?
    3) It's been decades since I used a metal detector, and I know the technology has come a long way. Are there still "b.f.o." (volume level increases for a find) vs. "t.r." (tone shifts for a find) machines?
    4) Do you ever damage a find with your shovel, or did you when you first started? I see depth indicators, so I guess now you know how much to dig, but I see that sometimes the coin is still in the hole & sometimes it's in the plug.
    Thanks.

    • @jdawson38995
      @jdawson38995  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      maintoc I do fill in holes lol. I use a shovel. Usually I am on private property or in small towns where everyone knows me. If you fill the hole in it doesn't matter the size of the shovel....once you get below sod, dirt is dirt. I always keep finds. Volume does increase for bigger finds or finds closer to the surface. I have damaged finds but, as I use a big shovel, it's rare.

    Since you find more Silver in one place than I found in one year maybe I should take an advice from you. How do you decide where you are going to hunt. How do you choose places? Give me some tips about where should I dig? Thanks

    • @jdawson38995
      @jdawson38995  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ismail Yildirim I live in a very rural place so most places have not been hit. You want somewhere that had a lot of activity long ago....best are camps parks ect. Old houses are also good but not as much traffic....talk to older people and ask where people once hung out Ect

    • @jdawson38995

      pablo jijon....it varies widely....usually state parks will state on their website if it's allowed or not. In Michigan some state parks you can, others you can't and some you can do part of. City parks also may have rules about it. Long story short call the park authority to be sure

      daBladeDancerz it's on Lake Huron on Michigan....ironically my family donated the land to the Mormon church in the 1930s.....kind of poetic justice that I would find the coins right! Since it is a 1930s camp there are few coins before that period....notable exceptions being a 1837 half penny (canadian) and a 1893 indian head. My family settled the property in 1840 and we came from Canada....so it fits!
