    gold rings ring up higher on my at pro. 55 to 65 range. I have found 11 since may. got 1 platinum that rang up at a solid 65. one thing is true with gold is that the number don't jump around at all

    Good vid. I run an AT Gold and its pretty similar to what your doing. High toned upper 80's are .25c, high toned low 80's are either screaming pennies or dimes. 70's are always pennies (have yet to find jewelry in the 70's), solid toned 50's are usually nickles, or tabs. 60s are usually tabs.. The jewelry I have found are in the 48-57's.... It's easy to want to discrim pennies and tabs but that's where the jewelry hides so I try to hit low trash parks and pull EVERYTHING.
    Also VERY important is to not swing to fast and take your time. I see so many people rushing to cover a field. I'd rather spend 3 days on the field and get it ALL.
    Also your video show's you digging crappy plugs. Your dirt looks dry but you still want to make sure that you don't destroy where you're digging. Gotta keep the hobby in a positive light for future use.

    You know your machine. I agree on what you put out here. I do find the gold but I do not run any disc as I like to hear the foil and iron in case there is some masking going on.

    Thank you for the information and the entertainment. Camera girl don't go on strike. I have a question. I am an amateur and live in near Beaumont, Texas. I am curious about laws over digging in city parks, beaches, and other sites. Can you give me a quick run down on how to metal detect within the law?

    • @UrbanTreasureHunter
      @UrbanTreasureHunter  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I used to live in Beaumont, Texas. There are some hotspots around there. Jefferson County has different cities with different rules. Like in Tyler, Texas, you CAN NOT detect (by law) in city parks. It's written in stone.
      Beaumont has NO LAWS on its books at this time that prohibit or allow metal detecting directly. But indirectly, they do.
      Sec. 14.04.003 Park property regulations; wild animals and birds; hours.
      (a) Buildings and other property. No person shall willfully mark, deface, disfigure, injure, tamper with or displace or remove any building, bridges, tables, benches, fireplaces, railings, paving or paving material, water lines or other public utilities or parts of appurtenances thereof, signs, notices or placards, whether temporary or permanent, monuments, stakes, posts or other boundary markers, or other structures or equipment, facilities or park property or appurtenances whatsoever, either real or personal; fail to cooperate in maintaining restrooms and washrooms in a neat and sanitary condition; or dig or remove any soil, rocks, stones, trees, shrubs, or plants or materials, or make any excavation by tool, equipment or other means.
      (b) Trees, shrubbery, and lawns. No person shall damage, cut, carve, transplant or remove any tree or plant or injure the bark, or pick the flowers or seeds, of any tree or plant. No person shall dig or otherwise disturb grass areas, or in any way injure or impair the natural beauty or usefulness of any area.
      I'm sure they don't throw little Johnny in jail after he digs tunnels in the park to push his cars through. Of course, they'll say he doesn't know better. So maybe you should get drunk first. Then again, I think there's a law about that too.
      I personally hunted there and would do it again, respecting the property and being inconspicuous. If they caught me, they would most likely just run me out of the park, and of course, I wouldn't go back to that spot again. That's just me.
      Thanks for watching and the for the comment. Good luck and happy hunting.

      I never have been run out for metal detecting around there. I've caught some really nice bass and catfish at the Bluebird by the Sabine River over there by Orange. Lots of memories with my Pop, Chef Bourque there. Someday I'll have to pick him up and go back out there and do some fishing.

    You gone out lately? The ground here in Houston is as hard as a rock. I went to a school playground and only did top detecting. I did find quarters and coins but all of them on surface. I bypassed anything under 3in.

      The Urban Treasure Hunter Yeah, love the show. I get great ideas from you. I have a question. I have the Harbour frieght vlf detector, it is great for finding coins but if i dont allow pull tabs it wont hit on gold? Can you explain why? Going to Galveston this weekend and would love to find gold rings. Any advice on my settings would be great. Thanks.

    • @UrbanTreasureHunter
      @UrbanTreasureHunter  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      JesusisGodism
      Sure, bro. No matter what detector you use, gold will always ring up like pull tabs. Galveston is hit HARD by the metal detecting club there and they dig EVERYTHING. So you will be lucky if you find a pull tab. Hope this helps. Good luck to you this weekend. Let us know what you find. HH:)

    Great educational video on detecting gold. I have heard you will dig 300 pulltabs for every gold ring. Was that park real trashy? I noticed you using the 5x8. GL&HH

    • @UrbanTreasureHunter
      @UrbanTreasureHunter  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The park was definitely trashy. It's actually kind of a campsite for the homeless. I was especially careful digging, expecting to get stuck with a needle (thank goodness that didn't happen). I usually dig 999 pulltabs before I find a gold ring. Wish there were more gold rings than pulltabs buried...wouldn't that be cool? Thanks for the comment, bro. HH :)

  • @txguynnh
    @txguynnh 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    My last gold ring was a 336 hole day. Exactly like this video. I made the mistake of carrying those batteries in my pocket once and even though they were suppose to be dead they got hot enough to give me a short little panic. Good instructional because I know people who have complained to me about how their machine never finds gold while all along they discriminate out everything under a nickel.

    did you get "stinkin' Lincolns" from Nuggetnoggin, or did Nuggetnoggin get it from you? Or did you guys both think of it without knowing the other also thought of it? Or am I just confusing myself?

    • @UrbanTreasureHunter
      @UrbanTreasureHunter  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      david Kealey The term "Stinkin' Lincoln" is actually very old metal detecting jargon that was around before even TH-cam was. Nuggetnoggin did not create the phrase, but did make it popular on his channel (he's one of my TH-cam favs by the way).

    • @davidwkealey840

    Ole Jeff, for some reason I cannot reply to your comments (maybe your settings). The pinpointer I am using in this video is the Vibra-Quatic 2. It's a diving pinpointer that can go 200 feet down. I use it when we scuba dive. One day, I forgot my land pinpointer and decided to use the Vibraquatic on land. I was shocked at how good it works. So now I use it on land and under water. HH :)

    • @UrbanTreasureHunter
      @UrbanTreasureHunter  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you learn the Bounty Hunter really well, it can actually work better than expensive detectors. This is because discrimination keeps so many hunters from finding gold. Dig everything and you will find gold eventually. Thanks for the comment and HH brother! :)

  • @BoogherJ
    @BoogherJ 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video--well put together. I have to comment on what you said about hunting with partners. I hunt with my son or alone due to the fact that there are too many metal detectorists that have a "get rich" attitude. These are the ones that will lurk on sites to try and find your hot spot. These are the ones who you thought were your friends only to find out that they were at a new spot of yours yesterday. These are also the ones that could not care less if you have a great day---i.e. out for themselves. I am sorry if I sound negative---maybe I have not hooked up with the right people in this hobby yet ( I do know a few that I would trust). I have encountered quite a few of these types. I am in it for the fun and exercise as you are too. You have a valid point in what you say. On a lighter note--"Happy Saint Patricks Day"

    • @UrbanTreasureHunter
      @UrbanTreasureHunter  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      VERY WELL SAID!!! I'm not sure why it's crossed out. But at least it's readable. I have had the same experience where I took someone to a secret spot and they went back the next day with a crowd and tore it up. You learn from your mistakes (or you should). Luke is the most generous hunter I have ever hunted with. I can't tell you how many times he finds gold and gives it away to the one he's hunting with. I certainly don't expect him to do that, and never ask him to...but it seems to rub off and I often find myself giving stuff away all the time. Happy St. Pattie's Day to you too. Thanks for the awesome comment! :)

    Silver is expected to go up by a bigger multiplier than gold, so perhaps it might be worth searching for from a 'back breaking' perspective.

    • @UrbanTreasureHunter
      @UrbanTreasureHunter  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Silver is very hard to discriminate out when using a metal detector...gold on the other hand, is too easy to discriminate out. Will silver ever be $1300/ounce? Prob not in my lifetime. Thanks for the comment. HH :)
