My dad was a huge ZZ Top and CCR fan so when he passed away a week ago today we couldn’t think of any other music he’d rather have played. We had songs playing quietly during the entire visitation. When everyone had left I went to use the restroom that happened to be near a balcony overlooking the viewing area. I saw them preparing to close the casket so I decided to stay til the very end. This is the song that was playing so it will forever be etched on my heart but will always have a different meaning.
I was a rebellious teen in the 80’s. Things weren’t the greatest at home. This song was like my story. The ending guitar solo always hit a soft spot in me that made me feel days were gonna get better.

Me too. I think it's because the bass follows a different progression than it does through the majority of the song. The way it contrasts with the guitar is just... mwah. Perfection. Honestly I wish the bass kept that progression through more of the song.

This song is probably one of the best guitar riff songs ever. Right up there with Gary Moore, Jeff Beck and the like. The entire composition brought to life by this video is excellent from start to finish and personifies ZZ Top. Yes it's 80's rock chick, cliche stuff but it's fabulous and doesn't pretend to be anything else but fun. It is, without a doubt, one of my all time favourite, close your eyes and escape, tunes. I did the same and have played this numerous times since. It is a wonderful tune and brings a tear to my eye now. How I long for the better times back in my younger days. Life sucks now.

This song is probably one of the best guitar riff songs ever. Right up there with Gary Moore, Jeff Beck and the like.
The entire composition brought to life by this video is excellent from start to finish and personifies ZZ Top. Yes it's 80's rock chick, cliche stuff but it's fabulous and doesn't pretend to be anything else but fun. It is, without a doubt, one of my all time favourite, close your eyes and escape, tunes.
