    I found these about 1 oz. footed shot glasses with ground off pontil. The site was pretty definitely 1893 and I found one pontiled cologne. Other slick sunken panels had a circular mark in the base, a sort of artificial "Pontil" applied because people were "Used" to it. One sees this in stereotypical bottles like Pitcher's Castoria-Machine made Castoria then screw tops on otherwise "old" sunken panel type designs. People in the old days had a sense of what was self-consciously "Olde" as much as any modern retro aficionado. In the later '30s into the '40s the term "Gay '90s" came into wide use, no isms at large, cars a new novelty &c.
