    Sounds like applied top and tooled top are the same thing. I don't understand the difference if they are both done by hand.

      i’m still learning so i’m not 100% sure, but i believe applied tops are created by adding material to the bottle, and tooled tops are made by shaping the material that was already on the bottle.
