  • In this video I went exploring a creek in a historic part of town that I had not walked before! I had a hunch there would be some awesome antique bottles, and sure enough there were some really cool ones here! I ended up finding the old dump site from the late 1800's - early 1900's. There were TONS of busted old bottles, and I found a few very nice complete ones as well. I hope to return soon and find some more complete bottles!

My girl and I,have found a MASSIVE bottle dump by a river close to our house. We are addicted to digging for them. We have found old coke,pepsi,7up, Vernors bottles, old medicine looking bottles, bottle's we have no idea what they are also. Tons of ceramic bottles.big jugs... We have no idea what they are worth or anything about them. I stumbled on You're video looking up some of the bottles. We would love to know more about all of this hobby, and how old they are. This spot is crazy. There isn't any newer glass there.

Hey, Kyle, you're in my territory now! Your frosted bottle held either milk or cream. Some have the dairy's name embossed on them and are the more desirable. Your small aqua bottle is a shoe polish bottle, believe it or not! Congrats on finding some awesome old glass. The straight-side coke is wonderful, even with the crack. And the Lea and Perrins bottle is an oldie! Next time you go creekwalking, keep an eye out for the little glass stoppers for this type of bottle. You had an awesome day!!! I enjoyed it very much, and I'm glad you're feeling better!

You should so collect the broken bottles. If the bottoms are not broken they can be cut and made into glasses , utensils holders, candles etc. If they are broken you can save the pieces that have words and make into mosaic art. Especially with the older ones. Saving a little bit of history each time.

Those green paneled bottles were made by Whitehall-/Tatum company. They would have had paper labels on the side, usually a cork was used to seal the bottle. 1880's to 1920's. That frosted bottle with the flared top is a milk bottle. A tin or aluminum top or a cardboard type stopper with a little cardboard pull tab.

I Love bottle hunting vids, you need to make more! I'm new to bottle collecting too but I have picked up on a few things so far. The top of a bottle is called a 'lip' and if the seam stops at the lip its called an 'applied lip' or 'applied top' which generally means the bottle is older (Victorian or early 1900's). Back in the day white clear glass was more expensive to make which is why most bottles your finding are blueish/greenish. Your Wostershire Sause bottle was made over here in England! It is pronounced wust-u-sher and 'Lea' is pronounced Lee. We still use the stuff today 😊 Someone already said about the stoneware ginger beer bottle, but if you find a whole one with print on it they can be worth a small fortune!

Very keen to see more of the bottle hunting in these creeks. Do you use a poozle stick to find buried bottles? It a long metal rod with a handle. The pointy end is rounded, so the bottles don't break. When you push the rod into the soil, it makes a tink, tink sound when you find a bottle. I'd love to buy one of those old Florida coke bottles ,they are really cool😊 We have lots of cool old bottles here in New Zealand.

When I lived in TX, AR and LA finding antique bottles in creeks was so easy as its all sand. I moved to Pittsburgh and drive all over this region thinking there will be bottles in all the creeks but the creeks are all rocky so all the bottles I find are smashed. Best bottle finds are in sandy southern creeks or creeks close to the ocean. Upper midwestern or NE states are shit for creek walking as most of the creeks are rocky and the second a bottle comes out of the side it gets smashed in the rocks and pebbles.

We go bottle hunting down at our creek. I have found some pretty cool old bottles. Also pulled out over 1 whole box of glass and tons of trash. That my dew bottle is really cool!

In the beginning of the video you said that the sign of clay on the bank is a sign of possible sharks teeth? Can you educate me as to why? I'm trying to get into hunting for sharks teeth in creeks around where I live but have had no luck so far. I have found bits of clay like that in creeks but no shark's teeth yet. 😢

Clay seems to hold fossils fairly often if you are in the right area. The clay you're talking about may not be the right age or in the right location for fossils. Look for gravel in the creeks you're walking. If there are fossils there should be some in the gravel beds!

Some of these broken bottles can be cut/filed down to make cool pen holders, vases etc just like Si-finds does on his channel. Check it out. You can get a special cleaner for those bottles as well. Also Lea and Perrin’s Worcestershire sauce is from UK. I loved how you mispronounced Worcestershire 😄

Great upload today! Love old bottles too 😊 You should sell the broken stuff in your store. Just trim away the points with a glass cutter to make desk tidies and pen holders etc. I think lots of folks would enjoy owning a piece of history 😍 love from south Aussie

Hey Kyle, I was watching older videos I've already seen an it came to me that you should check for history of a fire there. Could be where the melted bottle came from. It was a cool, weird find anyways 🤔✌️💗

Did you ever check out an old map on line to see if there were any old buildings near the creek?

  • @ghostravenXX
    @ghostravenXX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Some great spots along there Kyle . Lots of potential . I would most definitely be getting permission to do some digging along the banks. What are the laws in Florida on digging along a creek. Here in Canada you need all sorts of permits if you dig along a water body. That coke bottle is very cool. Thx for sharing

    worchestershire is pronounced "woo-ster-shire"
also, fun fact: aqua coloured glass is often dated to the later half of the 1800s and phased out by ww1 in favour of good old clear glass

The dude with the hat on the mountain dew is a hillbilly moonshiner character and he is shooting the cork off his shine jug through the top of his hat, mountaindew is slang for moonshine I believe.
