  • This video is from 3 months back...a bit late but then again we continued to work on the yard over several months. Little steps...
So we took a trip to Moon Nurseries back in February...and oh boy...we spent some $$. We were only going to get a few things but ended up getting a series of agaves, myrtles, yuca, vivex and several other things.
We pick somewhat mature plants but these things are expensive to had to be realistic as well. Either way we spent too much but the plants are awesome.
The plants came with planting and support for 1 year (since they are larger) and guaranteed etc etc.
For the landscaping, which we didn't video, we put down 10mil plastic and about 6 yards of river rock in a easy flowing pattern up front. The landscaping would have cost thousands from what could tell but we managed to shovel that river rock and make our own pattern in the yard. I used the tractor to move the rocks in the front yard to their spot and Angie pushed the river rock into place while I threw it off the trailer (which was a workout for sure).
Moon nursery was schedule to come out on march 14 to dig the holes and get thins ready for the planting on the next day. Cool.
It went very well and we were very happy with the result. We purposefully picked some overgrown agaves that had a lot of babies so we'll have many more to plant in the near future.
Also not on video, but we mimicked the zero-sh scape on the left side of the house as well to even out the yard. In the meantime, we clear small rocks and stuff off the front lawn area, spread 10yards of dirt on it and planted bermuda grass seed just to make it look consistent and nice. We're also in a bit of a dry spell, however we did get a few storms.
One of the storms was back about 3-4 weeks ago that was quite a severe hail storm and it damage a lot of stuff, tons of houses in the area and dented the crap out of our house. The plants took a HUGE hit and the oaks on our property (and surrounding area) were annihilated. Sure hope they recover. They look terrible. Either way, most plants will recover but some of the agave took a huge pounding, which results in wounds that the grass hoppers love. We had to result to spraying the plants to protect them and I had to trim many leaves.
Wish them luck. Overall, it's looking nice IMO and hopefully the plants will all recover in short due.
Thanks for watching as always...love the support.
Coming Up next...spray foaming the bottom of the containers .
    Cheers
