    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

      I'm curious about the Rings, but they look butt ugly. Nest is a mess right now, with Google restructuring once again. I'm hoping the TP-Link Kasa Doorbell will be a good solution that works well with Alexa and Google Assistant.

      @andrewking777 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, not exactly. You can access the live camera feeds for free, and you will also be sent still-photo snapshots of activity for free. You need a subscription to access the camera history (e.g. rewind to see what happened in the moments leading up to whatever activity triggered the notification).

    Good review. However one thing you didn’t address was with this recording 24/7 it can potentially use a lot of data. Most people now have data caps with their ISP provider and I’ve seen reviews with the Hello using up to 600gb of data a month. This is the only thing holding me back as I come close every month with my data cap so this would surely put me over it every month

    Red Flag for non-USA buyers of Google/Nest Door Bell.
    Please be aware that the Google Door Bell that they ship everywhere except USA will not connect on the 5 GHz band. Even the senior engineers form Nest/Google support did not know that. It took me over 15 hours of testing, emailing, chats and troubleshooting with them (factory reset, change my router setting, move my router closer etc.) to confirm this fact. Frankly, the support is terrible, the worst I have ever seen.
    Not sure why Google is choosing to disable 5 GHz band on the bell in countries like Canada where the 5 GHz band for outdoor use is legal. They charge everyone the same price as USA but remove the 5GHz connection capability that would have given us much better performance than 2.4 GHz. One needs to have a strong 5GHz signal (which is the case for me as I have a mesh Network with good coverage everywhere) , if the 5GHz signal is strong , 5 GHz channel will be less crowded (less channel utilization) and give you much better performance.
    So the bell works, but the performance is “average” on the 2.4 GHz connection. Non-USA buyers please be aware of this limitation.
    I was unsuccessful in getting a bell form Google that supports 5 GHz connection, they said they cannot/will not do it. I asked if I could get a month or two of free Nest Aware subscription, considering I had spent over 15 hours working with support. They should have know that the Bell is not capable of connecting on 5 GHz instead of having me going in circles, doing factory resets, trying bunch of other silly things … The said “NO” to the free Nest Aware subscription for a month or two as well
    :)

    My hesitation was issues in heat above 107 degrees
    From their site
    Nest Hello video doorbell: 5° to 104°F (-15° to 40°C)
    It can hotter than 104* in some months for where I live
    Ring Doorbell I dont think has that stipulation

  • @jamexman
    @jamexman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your video doesn't address any of the two biggest problems with this camera.
    1- The delay of notifications for motion activated alerts (not when someone pushes the button). Most people are having a 10 sec up to 30 secs delay.
    2- And the worst, the 30 min cool down period for motion alerts. Example: If a ups guy leaves you a package and doesn't push the button, you get an alert. But now, the cam is on a 30 sec cool down period, according to Nest, to avoid "bombarding" us with alerts. Now, a thief comes to your front door within this period, steals your package and no alert! You'll get it 30 mins later and a recording of the theft, but whats the point? You could have scared away the thief... You can test this easily. Pretend you leave a package, have it send you an alert. Go inside your house, wait a few minutes , now go outside and pretend you're a thief taking your package, no alert at all...

    this video is the definition of thorough! and this product has me SOLD. one thing I really wish you would have shown is the doorbell camera's night vision mode, so rather than having your porch lights on, I'd like to see the quality when it's completely dark outside.

    How does this work if my door is off a street and road? Would I constantly get notifications if a car or person walks by?

    • @milkman2724
      @milkman2724 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      4k3el mine goes off every time a car passes... which isn’t often enough to be annoying... it is pretty sensitive to any movement or sound! Sometimes the train which is a couple of miles away triggers it! lol

      Daniel Rodriguez also, I bet the warranty would cover it, as well as (possibly) report this to the police and get that guy arrested for property damage and trespassing.

      @vikramjeetkapoor8379 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Rodriguez I believe they actually do this now, or I am just going crazy. I think one requirement is the fact that you need a police report and something else, maybe evidence.

      I'll do you one better. Walk up to it at night with a flashlight or later pointer focused on the doorbell.

      Daniel Rodriguez what if the robber covers up his face witha a mask ot something, or flashes the camera. The camera is great but it has a fixed position, the area that covers is not wide at all. One can easily go by a side and break it not being noticed by the device. .. What will you do? Im sorry but investing on a fancy device that is at everyones reach is not safe at all, its ment to protect us and its not even capable of protecting itself. The tech is cool and everything, but when it comes integrating the device to your daily home expireince, it was poorly designed. Imagine for halloween, many kids touching the device, playing with it, i mean, it looks interesting, it has bright lights and everything, they will mess up with it, some of them, more creative and evil minded will scratch the camera, pour liquid on it, or stick bubble gum.... I dont know man, the possibilies for something going wrong are endless. The buyer asumes all the risk. Thats no good. I woudnt sleep well knowing that a fancy product that I bought is out there in the street at everyones reach..

    At 1:59 he says the installation used existing holes from the old door chime. Fast forward to 2:59, holes everywhere. Obviously not the same home used in the video either.........

    • @DetroitBORG

      Those holes are from a Ring doorbell, I was talking about the original analog doorbell.
