- Tail of the Dragon, Dalton Highway, Seven Mile Bridge, and more have been called some of the "scariest" roads in the US. @DoodleOnAMotorcycle shares these and other of these "scary", yet beautifully scenic motorcycle routes.

I'm surprised at some of the ones that didn't make the list. Colorado's Million Dollar Highway, Beartooth Pass, the Devils Triangle in Tennessee, the Mt. Washington Auto Road in New Hampshire, Pike's Peak. I'd replace the Cherohala Highway with US 276 between Maggie Valley and Travelers Rest, as well.
Agreed - Title should be "10 scariest roads I may have ridden or researched". I wouldnt consider Tail as a scary road.
Sounds like we gotta make a part 2!
Because this is just a TH-cam content creator trying to make revenue by posting content with catchy titles. Actually leaving out many roads helps create comments. The more comments the better for TH-cam revenue.
Like others we all have our favorite roads. I would say mine is the Million Dollar Hwy from Silverton, CO to Ouray. Keep the content coming
I just did the Million Dollar Highway this past Sunday. We started in Ouray and went south to Silverton. So we were riding on the cliff side. It is an uneasy feeling looking that far down while on a motorcycle lol.
Let's add the Chief Joseph Highway as well.... way better than some that were mentioned. Another one that should make the list is US 14 through the Bighorn Mountains. Several of my other favorites have already been mentioned.
And US-14A on the west side of the Bighorn Mtns is almost as tough as US-14.
Hey Doodle. I continue to watch you. My choice is the Cherahola Skyway. Many years ago I described it as the most dangerous road in the southeast. The awesome sweepers will draw you in to the exhilaration of cornering at speed while the awesome views draw your attention to the landscape. You can't do both, choose wisely.
FYI, I was one of your instructors in slow tight turns at MSF Alpharetta. I am so happy to see you continuing your pursuit of motorcycling. You are one of my proudest memories. You got the box. Billy
Scenic Route 12 in Utah running from Bryce Canyon to Torrey should certainly be on your list. Not only is it one of the most beautiful roads in the world, but the hog back an experience like few others.
Your right I took this road a couple years ago and loved it, a little scared of heights but doable , this is my number 1 road
Great video thank you very well done as always thanks for taking us along cheers to ya.
Used to run Mt Palomar with a groups of 911s. Great road indeed, just don’t overcook it into those turns.
Howdy Doodle. Perhaps you have listed these roads in other vids or have already ridden them, but next time you are in AZ, please check out the "Coronado Trail/191" and The road up to "Mt Graham/366". Ride safe and thanks for the vids!
Ive done all but 3 of these. Nice video!
Hwy 4 in California from markleeville to Arnold has some of the best views and sharpest turns I have ever been on. This road goes from a 2 lane to basically a single track highway. And be very aware of the turns as you switch back up the mountain because there are no guardrails with 1000 foot drops if not more. Do this one both ways to really get the full adventure. Very easily done in a day.
Emmits Pass?
Yes, Ebbitts pass. Very fun hwy
@@garyiacopucci293 I like Sonora better
@@garyiacopucci293 In fact, Sonora is one of my favorite rides. I live in Utah so i don't get there much
That is most definitely a beautiful ride as well
If you get the chance, check out Washington state. Many, many awesome roads and scenery!
It's interesting that you included the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, although I think you may have gotten it confused with the nearby James River Drawbridge. It's the James River bridge that is 4 miles long, as you described, and you could opt to use nearby tunnels instead, as you described. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is actually more like a series of bridges and two underwater tunnels strung together that span about 18 miles total, and there is no other reasonable option that connects to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. In any case I agree that it is interesting to cross it, by car or bike. There is a toll to cross it, but if you start at the south end, cross the whole thing going north and then turn around at the "Chesapeake Bay Bridge Scenic Overview" then you can cross it back again going south without repaying the toll. I've done this a couple times over the years just to enjoy the scenery. Even if some of the details are off, it's still nice to see videos like this, to spur ideas on interesting places to ride.
California Hwy 1 from Mill Valley up to Bodega Bay!!
Talking about long bridges, have you been across the Lake Pontchartrain bridge into New Orleans...it's 25 miles long.... seems never ending!
It can be scary, especially if you've got fears of either open water or wide open spaces, or if the wind is up. And, due to the bridge segments, it's a real spine crusher on a bike - ka-thump, ka-thump, ka-thump!
If anybody thinks the Skyline Drive is scary they shouldn't be riding a motorcycle. Beautiful ride, but nothing but easy, sweeping curves and a 35 mph speed limit.
What about mt rose highway or gieger grade rd both in northern Nevada
Skyline Drive is not scary except for the weekend crowds and strict enforcement of the 35 MPH speed limit. There is a gas station halfway at Big Meadows Wayside. Although the gas pumps can be unreliable due to power outages. Take a detour off the drive to ride US-211 which is one of the entrances to the park. Great curves on US-211.
There is a 13km or 8 mile bridge that joins New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. PEI is the home of red sand, lobster, and Anne of Green Gables.
How about the million dollar hyway in Colorado?
Ebbits pass highway 4 California
All 3 Dragon roads are great, third and newest is on Highway 160. I am just leaving Elkhart Ky and this small area has almost endless amounts of killer roads. Plenty of gas. Highways 80, 83. Perfect pavement, banked corners, quick left/rights. The switchbacks on 160 are a riot. 611 is a lane and a half of fresh tar cut trough a dense forest,. Endless corners and slower paced, very technical. Get off Google Maps and get a paper Delorme map, easily a weeks worth of driving. Not much traffic, no cell service unless your in a town. Put on new tires before you go...
PA doesn't have helmet law. It's mind-blowing seeing people ride without a helmet
Umm…
US 50 goes from Sacramento CA to Ocean City MD. Not New York but does cross the Chessapeak…
Did I miss something - Highway 16 in Texas is mentioned, but I didn't get the landmarks? A search of Highway 16 shows it to be quite long. Which portion is discussed? TIA for any feedback.
If you find out please post, id like to know as well, thank you
Mt Evans has been renamed Mt Blue Sky..
When I rode Evans, I got winded walking 50 yards to the bathroom. Beautiful road. Latest challange is doing Pikes Peak and Mount Evans in 1 day.
Chero"HEY"la....Cherokee national forest and Nanta"HEY"la national forest. Nevermind, just call the Nantahala Outdoor Center and listen when they answer....
Cherohola is the best.
Is Doodle the only one still doing these?
US50 is not the Lincoln Highway. US50 goes from Ocean City, MD to West Sacramento. The historic Lincoln Highway goes from New York City to San Francisco. Many parts of the Lincoln Highway are on US 30 which runs from Atlantic City, NJ to Astoria, OR.
You are correct sir makes me wonder what other facts she has incorrect, but I love her channel for the most part.
@@quietone623 I like her channel too. She has a good delivery, is enthusiastic, and (most of all) she does NOT ramble like so many TH-camrs.
Is this her new channel?
I don't like to drive the Tail of the Dragon. I just like to sit at the end and look at all the cars going through. I have a Miata and I've driven it twice, to many moron drivers/bikers on that road that don't understand that crossing yellow lines isn't cool. Also, one thing bikers (mainly rocket bike riders) don't seem to grasp is that while yes, their tires are on their side of the yellow line their HEAD is leaning two feet into MY lane.
In my local area after many people got tired of being ran off the road by disrespectful drivers and bikers at the Devils Whip (Hwy 80 north), the locals stopped busting tires and crap out looking out for said types of people. Sport picture takers got ran off and if you come around a curve with your head (or car) in the wrong lane, be prepared to eat grill because people have stopped hitting the ditch for you.
Um, US 50 runs from Maryland to California. Not New York.
You seem to confuse "Scary" with "Scenic"...although the Mt Evans road, like the Pikes Peak road,>>is
I'm not very impressed with this "dangerous" list. These roads make the list because they are popular and well traveled.
There are Plenty of less traveled roads that are much more dangerous. And that's why they're less traveled, they're dangerous and mostly used by locals.
Well, it's titled "scariest", not "dangerous". "Scary" is a reputation thing, as opposed to a fact-based thing (like the number of accidents or deaths). There are lots of things that may be scary while, at the same time, being relatively safe.
It was the scariest, not most dangerous. Driving freeways in big cities is the most dangerous imo. Higher concentration of poor drivers.
