    8:59 really hurt to see! There's a philips screw bit right next to you and yet you choose to use the flathead? Why? Dope screen though

    Having just changed from two curved 32in Samsungs to the G9 Neo 49in, I'm intrigued by this, and what may be coming round the corner at 49inch (or more!). I'm aware that in many ways, the G9 Neo is the daddy of gaming monitors, but I bought it because I was tired of the central bezels on a dual monitor setup, and having read other comments on here, I think ultra wides are going to be my purchases of choice from now on. It's been tough to get used to the decreased resolution (particularly from 2160 to 1440), but it's a worthwhile trade off I feel....until someone brings out a 49 or bigger that's got 4 or 5k. Thanks for the video.

    Thank you for taking the time to create this video. I am commenting because I think (not positive) that at the end, you say that LG gifted you the monitor. I do believe that this should be at the start of the video and that it should be clear to the audience. While you may not call it a review, the commenters are calling it a review and it follows a review format. Thank you 🙏

    The “strange” 72 Hz refresh rate is also nice for editing classic cinematic 24p footage without having to reduce the display refresh rate to 24 or 48 Hz to avoid video stutter but is annoying for mouse movement in the user interface.

    Great review, thanks for sharing! As a software dev, been keeping an eye on this one, and have the same AW3821DW as you/ My one concern is the 5K res which might resolve text too small for these tired eyes without upscaling. Hmm, this, or add a 2nd monitor to my AW (not as clean though). Subbed!

  • @Daniel_Sanchez_
    @Daniel_Sanchez_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Picked a pair of these up at Microcenter a few weeks ago, and they are pretty solid to say the least. No gaming really, but the color profile and accuracy are right up there at the top of the list. TB4 works great on the latest MoBo's and laptops, so you have to consider de-cluttering as a major selling point beyond just a bigger screen. Put it on the list if you're screen shopping right now!

  • @jmd1743
    @jmd1743 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope LG takes their Dualup concept and brings it to the world of ultrawides. I'm thinking on the lines of a 30" Length , by 32" height monitor. The Dualup is a great productivity monitor but it's a not a so stellar content consumption device. You could divide that monster up horizontally so you could play video games on on an ultrawide resolution on the bottom half and use the upper half for conducting your streaming.

    Could you please let me know if there is a fan inside, and if it is noisy ?

    Hi there, and thank-you for your video.
    I just bought a new MacBook Pro 14inch and I’m looking for a big wide monitor - no gaming just for work productivity.
    I don’t use a Caldigit hub, I only need to connect the MacBook. I just want a monitor that will simply just connect, and charge, my MacBook Pro 14 with one Thunderbolt cable between the two. Is this the way it works?
    P.s what screw driver it that?
    Thank-you in advance.

      @@leonpjhb I had both-- I really loved the 40" with 2 TB4 ports-- i just couldnt get the scaling to work for me. I was able too get 5k2k but the text was too small and the next scaling option I thought the text was too big and defeated the purposed. I love the look, speakers, design of the Studio but really miss the wide screen. For now i went back to my curved Samsung 34" Tb monitor that i have had since 2018. Still a good monitor for $699. I need to wait to see if Apple fixes the scaling or comes out with a wider monitor themselves.. The one monitor that did scale and work for me was the LG 34" TB 5k2k-- I didnt like the straight screen compared to curved so I passed on that.

      Yea I guess this would be good for video editing - but its really annoying how much influence TH-camrs are having on the industry - Programmers outnumber Tuber 1000-to-1 - What we need is monitors for working with documents - I want 5K x 4K - at 200% - the same way Apple did 5K - this rez really makes no sense imo - it makes things far to small.

      I definitely could use the screen space as a developer. I have multiple windows open in parallel (more than 1 instance of IntelliJ, Webbrowser, Terminal, Build Server, etc.). Switching between Windows is a pain in the ... during work.

    I was considering a 49-inch 5120x1440 monitor to secure a multitask work space, but the problem is that the vertical monitor length and resolution is limited (1440 - 36cm). Now, I’m exploring possibilities to use this 40-inch display with large vertical work space as the main monitor for multitask, together with a smaller 27 inch sub monitor which has similar vertical length.
    I will use the sub monitor for MT4 (Forex software) and check it once every hour. That’s why I prefer this independent display + 40WP95C-W setup in stead of 49 inch super ultra wide monitor.
    Do you have some advise to avoid problem for this two monitors setup of different size and resolution?

    One thing that these reviews of 5k2k 40" monitors leave out is compatibility with macOS. In that, they aren't compatible at all unless you're happy to go with the native resolution (microscopic fonts and icons) or are willing to give up the screen real estate and use a resolution that Apple can support (in this case, the next lower resolution is 3008x1269. Which is pointless. Because a 34" ultra wide at standard resolution is 3440x1440.
    We seem to be in a weird place right now where if you want a bigger screen for a Mac, and want a screen that has a higher resolution for better clarity, you have to go for a 218PPI display which is only available as a 27" 5K screen (LG Ultrafine or Apple Studio Display...starting at $1600 for the latter without a height adjustable stand) or a 32" 6K display (Apple XDR...starting at $5000, not including a height adjustable stand).

      That's actually not right. The new Macs running on Monterey 12.3.1 or later can support the full 5120x2160 resolution via the Thunderbolt 4 port. Search "LG 40WP95C-W HighTechCheck" and go to the 12:30 mark.

    Imagine this monitor with a Displayport 2.0!
    The limit without any DSC compression would be 194Hz (I like to be exact) at 10bit color, it'd be a gaming beast that would challenge new GPUs for the next 10 years!
    And I don't think this is an unreachable spec for games, with DLSS/FSR constantly improving and for games that are not that demanding, this screen would be the best for productivity, movies and games even with today's hardware power.

    The 5K ultra wide market is nigh empty, so the price can be whatever LG wants. Which is fine, I guess, I love the workloads this unlocks. I just wish there was a 500 nits or higher option.
