My parents were never home. So I became addicted to opioids and k2 in middle school and quit after I dropped out at the start of my sophomore year. Now almost seven years later I want to go back to school so I can be a gunsmith. I passed the social studies and science portion, but I’m terrible with language arts and mathematics. I think the more difficult part is getting frustrated by the lack of knowledge I missed out on even from middle school. I’d consider myself fairly intelligent given my circumstances. However that looming feeling that I’m stupid hasn’t gone away and makes this challenging. I’m really just leaving this comment for anyone in the future reading this. You’re not alone and it might seem like the odds are stacked against you; but you are your own worst enemy. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask someone close to you for help. You’ll get where you want to be if you just keep working towards your goals.
Thanks for sharing. Good luck with your remaining tests. You don't need me to tell you this, but you're not stupid - you can learn the skills you need to pass those last two tests. Let me know if there is anything specific I can help with - you've got this!
I’m 52, and I decided It’s time to get my GED. I’m scared beyond anything I’ve been scared about. I study a little bit every day and it hasn’t even been a week yet and I feel the anxiety. But I know I can do this, and I’ll keep trying until I do. ❤. UPDATE 💕 it took me six weeks of studying every single day but I passed my math test with 146. Never give up.
I'm 16 and wanting to begin taking my GED now. I have a lot of anxiety and have been unable to handle regular high school. Im doing this because I want to change my life around before I make it worse and start getting on track to go to college. I've decided this is the best option for me over the panic attacks of regular public schools. Some day, I think I want to be a lawyer, and I want to start early on it.

My partner convinced me recently that I am capable of getting my GED and going to college. I've been struggling with severe mental illness since middle school and dropped out of highschool in 10th grade because of it, and have been in a downward spiral trying to become happy. I'd fully convinced myself I'm not capable of going anywhere in life and that I would always be below the poverty line. I'm not sure why I'm typing this all out but maybe this is just my way of putting out into the world that I wouldn't be anywhere without my partner, and I think I'm capable of getting my GED, going to college and getting a good job that will make me happy and bring me above the poverty line. I'm only 18 which is still very young, and they see my potential which I am so thankful for, without them I might be dead 💕
I’m glad you have someone who believes in your potential. Of course you can get your GED if you commit to putting in the work. It’s worth it! Good luck!
I encourage you to go ahead and get that GED,I'm 58 and I quit in 11th grade. I Got a online High School Diploma, but found yrs later that it was a fraud. SO now I'm trying to get my GED..You can do it too
How is everything now? I know you’re more than capable, and your partner sounds like a very good person to have in your life. I’m 26, and am recovering from severe OCD. I’m just now studying for my GED(which I’m going to take the test on March 20th and 21st), plan on college after obtaining my diploma for psychology, and learning to drive. It’s never too late. I plan on writing a book eventually about OCD, the hope for recovery, and the potential that psychedelics have over pharmaceuticals for treatment resistant mental illnesses. I wish you the best in your journey, and just like your partner, I know your potential even if you don’t.
It’s nice to see everybody in the comments getting their lives together. I’m in the same boat I’ve been smoking weed, drinking, and partying since i was 12 years old selling drugs and running the streets all day I dropped out of school in 9th grade. Im now 21 and I’m sober trying to get my ged so I can go to the marines and hopefully come back and make a better life for myself. Pray for everybody to get through their tough times and find a path of righteousness and hope. Good luck everyone!
Hi Ms. Michelle I just wanna say this video has really helped! because I am currently a GED student at the age of 18 years old the reasons for me getting my GED was because School has failed me & the system didn't care much due to my disability & made me feel like a such failure but I've motivated myself & realize that I can do more than just that I'm challenging myself to follow my dreams & not only make my family proud myself also THANK YOU❤️!!
Hi I never usually comment but your story moved me because it reminded me of my situation. I’m in Highschool currently and being kicked out for my attendance and my school simply doesn’t care about my mental health and suffering. I’ve decided now to take matters into my own hands and do what I have to do even if it isn’t the conventional way. I’m sorry if I’m being to forward but it’s been two years since you commented I just wanted to know how life has been? I’m trying to not be too scared of my situation and I need some type of reassurance things will be alright.
I’m doing it for the same reason, your comment just spoke volumes to me! The education system tends to not help disabled students as much as people would hope. I’ve been putting off doing the GED for years, it’s time to pull my shit together!
Excellent! You are really great. I am 72, and I want to do it for myself. I have been procrastinating this for years, but after listening to you, I feel more motivated. Thank you very much. I will let you know when I get my diploma.
You yourself are inspiring! I’m 51 and am terrified I don’t remember anything. I not only have memory issues due to TBI but am also adhd. … but if others can do it so can I , I just have to try harder 💕
I suffer from dyslexia and dyscalculia, I was kicked out of school in ‘06 and never looked back. This video is very motivating and uplifting to take the big steps and go forward in obtaining this GED.
Sorry to hear that the education system failed you instead of helping you. It happens alot. I hope you get your GED and do what makes you happy. Wishing you many blessings!!
am 19 now and the reason why am thinking about getting a GED is to not only go out and get driver's license and a job to prove myself to my family and neighbors but to also hopefully help my family and our little ranch we have going here have a little bit more breathing room financially.
I'm so happy I came across this video bc it really let's me know I'm not alone. I dropped out bc I was going through a lot in school and my mental health was so bad, not to mention all of the things going on in my life. I've been wanting to get my ged for a year, and I would've graduated today. I'm finally ready to study for my ged, and I really just want to get it so I can move on with my life. Thank you for making this video
I haven't been in school since 6th grade even when I was in school I never really paid attention I was in 6th grade at a 4th grade level now I'm 17 wanting to get my life together and get a job and go to college, it's just really hard starting all the way from the bottom but I really really want to succeed. I really appreciate this video it helped alot
This video is so important. I’ve been slacking on the ged study’s and don’t know what to do. I just now found out I want to be either a p.e teacher or just a teacher.
i like how to the point you are. first vid that popped up when i searched for how to study for ged was some dude rambling for 11 min ab only being focused and committed. i'm focus and committed i need help finding resources. thank you for helping me.

I'm almost 17 and want to join the army but I basically dropped out when I became homeschooled bc I just stopped going. Now I'm trying to start studying and losing weight in order to join before I turn 18
I love this vid I got my ged already I just wanted to say a movie called Homeless to Harvard inspired me to get back into school and get my ged and honestly it was the biggest change I ever made in my life I never felt that I’d have a normal life however when I passed this ged I was filled with emotions bc I can see how far I’ve grown now and I’m in college trying to get my life together 🙏🏻
im going to start the process to get my ged with higher score. the 1 reason is, i need to go to college learn economics. so i have decided to delete all my social media until i earn my ged iam not going come back to social media coz i spend most of my time using social media.
Awesome videos Michelle! I am a GED professor at a community college in Central Florida. While I always advocate self instruction, sometimes taking an ABX course to get that instruction/guidance to passing is extremely useful. I highly recommend this for students that left high school before the 11th grade, or if their years out of school are 5+.
I agree. Each person will need a different level of support. Currently I am teaching middle school, but I worked as an adult ed instructor for years :)
I struggled so bad with online learning and i'd be graduating at 20 if i continued with HS.... so for that AND mental health reasons i'll be dropping out and hopefully taking a GED to hopefully get a good head start !
im 17 right now and dropped out of highschool in 9th grade.. this is because my school was god awful and a heavy wave of depression that is still on going. i tried going to school again, this time a college prep but i got kicked out after being admitted into a mental hospital. im very overwhelmed and nervous but i want to go to college so bad and prove myself i can make a happy future for myself.. i just now signed up on the website and hopefully i can make this work as it's my last chance of making things right.
GED will not give you greater opportunities unless you plan to go to college. Nobody but colleges cares about a GED. In theory, a person could have no high school diploma or GED and be better educated than a college professor.
Tragedy struck my family while I was in the 9th grade and I had to leave school to start helping support the household. I'm turning 30 this year, I've had many great jobs and Even worked my way to leadership positions but the only thing holding me back from something truly great is not having my diploma. Starting tomorrow I'm going to start studying and preparing to finally achieve my GED and close the book on what I've had to miss out on and put off all these years.
Oh my goodness!!!!! Thank you so much!!! You seriously have motivated me In going for it. I have been put down for not having it but I will def write it down and hang it in my room and everywhere to remind myself that I will get it!!
Honestly, i’m thirteen which is quite young but i want to study so that when i turn 16-17 i’ll pass. I really just want to make my parents proud, i’m also the oldest out of four children. I want them to have a good example, a good role model. So thank you! This video really helped.
I hope you'll consider finishing high school. There are a lot of great opportunities available if you are able to stick it out. 18 is a long way off. Best of luck.
Hey Michelle, After two semesters back to back, I passed. I had math left to do. Even though I took the math test over again, I eventually achieved 76% in math. I am finally a highschool graduate. Thanks for your video.
Just want to say thank you so much ! I wrote my whys out an took lots of notes thank you for giving us the encouragements ! And making us feel like we got this
Thank you for making these videos Michelle. I’m an esthetician, but I want to get into the medical field, because of covid, I want to always have a job so I can one day buy a condo on the beach for my mother and myself. I made an account and I’m only worried about math. I took the test years ago and passed everything, but math and gave up because it was so hard. Now I’ve heard it’s even harder, but I’m much more determined now.
Had to stop school in 6th grade due to multiple issues, tried multiple things but once covid hit it all entirely fell apart and I never got back to anything. Finally going to dedicate myself to this, thank you!
OMG time is running so fast I want to get my ged about 4 years ago and then just ignore it and go to work anything to live, then anytime I think to change my life and go forward it’s take me back for same point I feel it’s first step to do anything you have to start with your GED, I hope y’all to not waste your time and postpone in future, when you see this notice just move on and start you need to be better than yourself yesterday, it’s never late but also don’t postpone it 🎉❤
I am 21 years old with a 3rd grade education. I am going to study and work towards getting my GED this year because I want better job opportunities that arent in fast food service lol. @janila cool No, I have not. Unfortunately, I started but life got in the way. It won't be easy, but that's why it's worth going after it. It's a small step that will change my life.
I'm behind in school and don't think I can catch up. I'm 18 in 9th grade. I thought I could finish this year, but there's been a lot of family drama going on. And I don't wanna be 21 in my senior year. So I wanna study for my GED instead.
I hear you! You could start with the GED Ready tests and see how you would do. If you're not close to passing, you might want to investigate credit recovery options with your school or other local programs as well. Good luck!
I just want a good life and to me that means traveling and living abroad learning new things. I’m 18 and I went a little back and forth with home school. Things are weird with my schooling so I’m just gonna get my GED figure it out from there. I’ll reach my goal eventually😌
I had to move 4 states away from my mom because i was in a toxic environment eventho people never saw it. I moved with my other family members who had bad experiences with my mother. I had to withdraw from my last year of high school. im starting GED soon, and im happy im starting a new life.
Thank you So Much!!’ Now I working on language arts I was slacking on the GED but this Year I’m willing to do the work so it can all pays off once I get my Diploma this year!!❤️🙏🏾
Been looking into getting my GED because of how my high school isn’t able to accommodate my disability, I’m not yet able to take any of the tests (can’t even sign up for the website because I’m 15 lol) but I’m finally starting my journey and I’m really excited
I'm just a home schooled student trying to graduate on time, but worried since its close to graduation and I'm far from ready, even if I don't graduate the same time my friends in public school do, I really don't want to drop out
You don't have to drop out if you're not finished at the same time as your friends, especially if you are home schooling. Everyone learns at their own pace!
All your videos have been so incredibly helpful to me over the past couple of months michelle, thank you. i've been looking for resources and you're one of the bests i've had the joy of stumbling upon. i've felt really along through this entire studying process, like i've had to figure it all out and manage it myself, but this really means the world to me to have people such as yourself willing to explain it to us on youtube for free ! thank you so much
I have multiple reasons for seeking a GED, I also plan on going to College. It's both for myself and for my mother (whom died when I was 16, the main reason I am no longer in school), and for anyone who looked up to me for inspiration that I met along the way. I know for a fact I can get my GED and I know for a fact I can earn college, it'll be difficult now but I know that for a fact. My mother died not wanting to burden anyone any further (she felt like a burden as a double amputee and diabetic with full kidney failure, along with PTSD and Bipolar, along with many other unfortunate things to happen to her). As such, how is it moral to let her death shackle me down from my potential? I aimed at becoming an FSO when I was 15-16, I am damn right going to give it a shot. If I succeed, I'll prove that it doesn't matter if you were homeless half your youth, in a single parent household, that there is never a time you should give up.
I feel your sorry. Know that you can do it. Be confident and do not give up. Practice and be patient. I am ready to give you my little support if you want. Good luck
Hi! I dropped out in 2017/2018 at 17 years old. I finished all my test expect for one, my math test. I’ve failed it twice. I have a genuine desire to improve my life, and as a result, I have made the decision to obtain my GED and pursue a college education. I just hope i can pass this. I really need this!
stopped going to school at an early age, lot of issues in my life, didnt have money or resources to do homeschool, but not long ago I started finally getting back to learning, and I love it but now I'm at the age where I need to go to college, since I didn't graduate high school,i need a ged, wish me luck
I never went to school. Im 18. Can someone give me a guide of what to do to get a GED? Like studying. I’m incredibly insecure. Im lost and depressed about it.
I am 31 and dropped out at 17 due to circumstances in my life. However over the years I keep telling myself I need to go and get my GED in order to pursue my passion. But I’m so daunted by the idea of studying subjects that do not interest me. I struggle genuinely focusing on things I’m not interested in or passionate about. And it’s forced me to put this off for so long unnecessarily so. Knowing very well even when I go into college I will need basic classes as credits. Is this just something I need to overcome or is there any tips anyone has on how they motivated themselves to study courses that don’t interest them?
I have autism, adhd and severe anxiety from PTSD, as well as other issues with my mental health. I tried so hard for years to stick with school, since I knew I was very smart, but I just didn't have the study skills necessary despite my high work ethic. I missed a whole year of school due to my mental health, and the alternative placement school I went to afterwards wasn't challenging me academically, and I still couldn't deal with the workload. I want to live up to my potential. My parents are very intelligent and my mom went to Smith College. I want to show that I'm smart like them, even if I can't complete normal high school.
amazing advice!! i am taking my practice test at a college on January 23rd!! I am doing so I can go to trade school i was told my diploma was not equivalent.
Too many people these days go down the wrong path because of their highschool experiences, of loneliness, drug abuse, bad behavior, home problems, or financial problems, I have experienced some of this, but its never too late to improve, and go down the right path. Getting your ged will be a helpful tool to get into college or a university, and continue or start making up for lost times and be happy when all your hard work towards your goals are completed in the right time, and the right place, may we pass this speedbump in life and stay tough in the worse times.
I’m 24 and finally sick of being held back by a piece of paper I’m going back to get my GED first class is today and I’m going to get a computer science degree starting with summer school next year
I think you'll find that like most accomplishments, being smart is only a small part of the battle - it's your hard work and determination that will get you across the finish line. Good luck!
Their is a difference from street smart and book smart. I think your mistake is thinking your smarter than someone else. I use to think similar till i learned their is so much more i have no idea about but it’s your willingness to learn more once you realize you don’t know everything. That’s the difference from them and you is.They think they learned enough but you learned their is never too much information to learn. I dropped out off High school but i don’t remember most of the stuff i was taught in middle school. Their is a difference when you want to learn something and someone forces you to learn something. Good luck and never under estimate your opponent.

SO now I'm trying to get my GED..You can do it too
I'm in exactly the same boat as you!! Ty for sharing ur story, I feel sm less alone.
Hell yeah you're 19🙌 you've got the world by the balls
Great why! Best of luck!
Did you start your GED?
I suffer from dyslexia and dyscalculia, I was kicked out of school in ‘06 and never looked back. This video is very motivating and uplifting to take the big steps and go forward in obtaining this GED.
Hope you got it and didn’t get lobotomized ❤
@@ponyboycurtis8591 haven’t gotten me yet 😂

Sorry to hear that the education system failed you instead of helping you. It happens alot. I hope you get your GED and do what makes you happy. Wishing you many blessings!!
@@rpmcmurphy5125 keep trying you will do it
am 19 now and the reason why am thinking about getting a GED is to not only go out and get driver's license and a job to prove myself to my family and neighbors but to also hopefully help my family and our little ranch we have going here have a little bit more breathing room financially.
There are so many other people here in the same boat as you! It's never too late to get started - good luck on your journey!
@@michellerevisited thank you so much!
Right with you
I haven't been in school since 6th grade even when I was in school I never really paid attention I was in 6th grade at a 4th grade level now I'm 17 wanting to get my life together and get a job and go to college, it's just really hard starting all the way from the bottom but I really really want to succeed. I really appreciate this video it helped alot
Happy to help, good luck!
How's it goin?
I wish you all luck
Wow, I thought I was the only one.

This video is so important. I’ve been slacking on the ged study’s and don’t know what to do. I just now found out I want to be either a p.e teacher or just a teacher.
I'm happy to help. Good luck with your studies!
i like how to the point you are. first vid that popped up when i searched for how to study for ged was some dude rambling for 11 min ab only being focused and committed. i'm focus and committed i need help finding resources. thank you for helping me.
Thanks so much for this feedback! Let me know if there are any specific questions I can answer for you in future videos. 👍
I’m 17 i want to join the marines i dropped out in 8th grade thank you for your videos and helping all of us who want to change our lives and get ourselves together
Yo! I’m 21 and I’m currently trying to join the Army! I never finished my senior year and so I’m getting my GED to join the Army. Good luck to you both and maybe I’ll meet y’all one day!
bro im lowkey the exact same, 7th grade is where i fell off but i really stopped stop going to school at the end of 10th grade, now im 17th i want my GED so i can go to the military.
Me to fellas
I'm almost 17 and want to join the army but I basically dropped out when I became homeschooled bc I just stopped going. Now I'm trying to start studying and losing weight in order to join before I turn 18
I love this vid I got my ged already I just wanted to say a movie called Homeless to Harvard inspired me to get back into school and get my ged and honestly it was the biggest change I ever made in my life I never felt that I’d have a normal life however when I passed this ged I was filled with emotions bc I can see how far I’ve grown now and I’m in college trying to get my life together 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing! Congratulations on your accomplishment!
I have heard its harder to get into college with your GED relative to students with a conventional high school diploma... is it true?
@@bzchii7474 no jus start at community college and then transfer
Is the movie on Netflix
I have been homeschooled my whole life and GED could open many doors
im going to start the process to get my ged with higher score. the 1 reason is, i need to go to college learn economics. so i have decided to delete all my social media until i earn my ged iam not going come back to social media coz i spend most of my time using social media.
Great idea - I think most of us could reclaim a fair amount of study time cutting back on social. Good luck!
I Agree with you the amount of time spent on Social Media Can Be Spent Studying
Good luck!
Any update
im 17 right now and dropped out of highschool in 9th grade.. this is because my school was god awful and a heavy wave of depression that is still on going. i tried going to school again, this time a college prep but i got kicked out after being admitted into a mental hospital. im very overwhelmed and nervous but i want to go to college so bad and prove myself i can make a happy future for myself.. i just now signed up on the website and hopefully i can make this work as it's my last chance of making things right.
@matchamani yes you can, though i think you can only go to a community college or something like that. i could be wrong tho
Im 18 just dropped out off high school to work full time to support myself hoping getting my GED will bring me more financial opportunities
Good luck!
GED will not give you greater opportunities unless you plan to go to college. Nobody but colleges cares about a GED. In theory, a person could have no high school diploma or GED and be better educated than a college professor.
@@russellgrimes3491 thank you russell i already went back and graduated lmao
Wow thanks for sharing Martha! Good luck with your studies, I know you've got this!
@@michellerevisited i do, and i would love to go onto college.
You look so very young like 16 years old but, I'm amazed at the way you talk, and seems you are a smart person. Thanks for the videos.
I guess I'll take that as a compliment 🤷🏻♀️ I assure you that I am not 16 years old haha.
as a homeschooler I need the ged for literally anything. definitely going to watch all of theses ged videos
Sending you lots of luck! You've got this 👍
Hey Michelle,
After two semesters back to back, I passed. I had math left to do. Even though I took the math test over again, I eventually achieved 76% in math. I am finally a highschool graduate. Thanks for your video.
Thank you for sharing your journey! Congratulations!

Thanks for sharing! All it takes is some review and practice. Start with the GED Ready to see what you need to work on. You've got this!
Had to stop school in 6th grade due to multiple issues, tried multiple things but once covid hit it all entirely fell apart and I never got back to anything. Finally going to dedicate myself to this, thank you!
OMG time is running so fast I want to get my ged about 4 years ago and then just ignore it and go to work anything to live, then anytime I think to change my life and go forward it’s take me back for same point I feel it’s first step to do anything you have to start with your GED, I hope y’all to not waste your time and postpone in future, when you see this notice just move on and start you need to be better than yourself yesterday, it’s never late but also don’t postpone it 🎉❤
I have taken my GED more than 12 times and by one point I don’t get it I asked them where is my weak spot, but nobody has an answer
I am 21 years old with a 3rd grade education. I am going to study and work towards getting my GED this year because I want better job opportunities that arent in fast food service lol. I am currently working up towards saving money so I can move to Arizona in the middle of the year.. and hopefully if all goes well at the end of this year I will be in Arizona studying to earn my degree in college.

All your videos have been so incredibly helpful to me over the past couple of months michelle, thank you. i've been looking for resources and you're one of the bests i've had the joy of stumbling upon. i've felt really along through this entire studying process, like i've had to figure it all out and manage it myself, but this really means the world to me to have people such as yourself willing to explain it to us on youtube for free ! thank you so much
I really appreciate your kind feedback. Sending you all the luck ❤️
Good luck
thank you I'm taking my GED over at Los Angeles City College !
Hi! I dropped out in 2017/2018 at 17 years old. I finished all my test expect for one, my math test. I’ve failed it twice. I was so close the second time, I left with a 142, but since then My studying sessions have been so draining I’m so tired of studying for this lol. This video was so helpful thank you!
You got this! Don't give up 🙏
I want to prove it to myself and get it done💯
I have a genuine desire to improve my life, and as a result, I have made the decision to obtain my GED and pursue a college education. I just hope i can pass this. I really need this!
My "why"- doing the damn thing. My parents homeschooled me the wrong way and now that I'm a 23 year old mama, it's time to conquer the thing
Good lucky
My parents also homeschooled me wrong, but I've also dragged my feet due to depression. Hopefully being 25 doesn't mean it's too late
stopped going to school at an early age, lot of issues in my life, didnt have money or resources to do homeschool, but not long ago I started finally getting back to learning, and I love it but now I'm at the age where I need to go to college, since I didn't graduate high school,i need a ged, wish me luck
I never went to school. Im 18. Can someone give me a guide of what to do to get a GED? Like studying. I’m incredibly insecure. Im lost and depressed about it.
im personally doing it to join navy air rescue, i dont think ill ever need it after but still a nice thing to have
I am 31 and dropped out at 17 due to circumstances in my life.
Just want to say if you buy the practice tests make sure you use the coupon 50off it will give half off!
Hey, I believe in you :)
amazing advice!! i am taking my practice test at a college on January 23rd!!
I’m 24 and finally sick of being held back by a piece of paper I’m going back to get my GED first class is today and I’m going to get a computer science degree starting with summer school next year
I want to get mine bc I meet very stupid people that miraculously have their diploma. I know I’m smarter than them.
I think you'll find that like most accomplishments, being smart is only a small part of the battle - it's your hard work and determination that will get you across the finish line. Good luck!
😂😂😂😂
Their is a difference from street smart and book smart. I think your mistake is thinking your smarter than someone else. I use to think similar till i learned their is so much more i have no idea about but it’s your willingness to learn more once you realize you don’t know everything. That’s the difference from them and you is.They think they learned enough but you learned their is never too much information to learn. I dropped out off High school but i don’t remember most of the stuff i was taught in middle school. Their is a difference when you want to learn something and someone forces you to learn something. Good luck and never under estimate your opponent.
I’m an immigrant, i had my high school diploma in my country but here it’s not valid, and i want to go to college so I have to do this or so i been told, if anyone has some tips or advice please tell me
