Our independent Gulf Coast MakerCon event might be smaller than MakerFaire, but to be fair (see what we did there?) we've been hosting the event since 2012 and it's the only maker festival in town! We're super glad you'll be there and hope others come out to the enjoy the event and visit AMRoC Fab Lab while you're there to "Make it Awesome" with 3D Musketeers!
If I have less than three screws left after reassembly, I consider that a win!
To explain with The Positron; my first layer adhesion was bad, and I knew it was bad, but I just wanted to let it happen. Still happy with the results.
:)
That's what they all say
For my plates I just do what Maker's Muse suggested a while ago: an extremely thin layer of gluestick.
I use an old piece of paper that has gluestick stuck to it, then just spray on some IPA on the paper and give the plate a quick wipe.
I can try that too I guess!
I would love to hear the polar filament story.
I think I'll continue to print right side up.
lolol
Thank you for the melamine tip! I knew magic erasers were something but never did the research to figure it out!
Glad it helped!
I got the vision minor adhesive after seeing your interview and it 100% works on troublesome textured pei. I’ve been having adhesion problems on my bambu ever since moving it to my 3-D printing store from my house. It’s definitely a humidity thing because I recalibrated everything so the move shouldn’t have affected anything. There is basically double the humidity here because it’s a block building with garage doors that don’t seal very well.
I am glad it has been working well for you!
I actually did find the polar filament issue interesting.
1:25 texture build plates are a bit tricky to master, but here are my settings: I use vision miner's nano polymer.
lolol
They should really call the Polar 3D filament something more like Sea Glass Green. Just my opinion, but sea foam green isn't special enough and it should be special! Plus they could create more colors in the "Sea Glass" series.
oooh I do like sea glass green! I will pass that along
I love the satin sheet. Never had a problem. Yes the smooth has more grip, but sometimes it's too much. If all else fails, smooth is a backup. But I've never needed to adjust z axis on satin + mk4.
its humidity related for sure and with how cold you keep your house, it is likely much less damp for you too I figure :)
@@3DMusketeers I have super high humidity. It's usually around 70%. Even in the winter a filament dryer with the door open reports 50-60.
I'd be curious to know how filament manufacturers do mixed metering on their filament. Fun fact that screw goes from wide open to thinner not to mix the filament but to use shearing and friction to help melt the polymer
they use dosers I believe, but I am not sure if that was what you were asking? If so, we go over what one is and how it works in a tour of Printed Solid :)
Mitch from Polar here 👋. What higher temp materials did you have in mind? We’re in the middle of launching ASA (first color passed internal and community testing). I have the process started for nylon, but that will take months before the first spool is available.
Also, lmk a good time for the podcast, I’d love to chat
Just more cool colors in Abs or Asa or even PETG honestly. Wanting to do a baby belt with Polar colors!
I glued it because i was had enough with the belt slip
good idea
what a week. lol After getting part of the cursed part to finally complete by increasing purge tower extrusion distance to 135% instead of the default 110% I discovered it was too big. I scaled it up before I cut off the bottom because it wasn't flat. I forgot I did that. It's actually possible to print the whole part in one shot. I had to make the purge tower half the width which makes it double the length. lol everything is looking good and...........I'm out of prusament marble filament. This is a weekness of the sunlu s4 filadryer. It's the only dryer I have where you can't see the actual filament inside the dryer. When I looked down through the top I thought it was good, but nope, you have to pull the spools out to see if it's enough. well fine, I'll just use printed solid right? NOPE they're out of almost all prusament. I don't want to do prusa direct. It will take like 2 weeks to get here. My last filament order took 2 weeks.
Since I love CC3D silk so much I decided to try their marble, but it meant giving up on the print. Also the green spool was running low. It's an original spool from when I bought my mk3 back in 2022. This is the only "normal" sunlu spool I have left. (I have sunlu silk spools that I don't care for) For the most part I don't like sunlu, but this green is really nice. I love the color and it was perfect for this print. Amazon doesn't have it anymore. It doesn't seem to exist. Sunlu is not the same sunlu from 2 years ago. I did my best, but nope, it's definitely a different color. I don't like it as much. lol I like the original spool better. Naturally I stocked up on CC3D saphire blue silk as it's my favorite filament out of all of them and that was low.
While I was waiting on my filament to arrive, I decided to print some of the mono-color parts of this model. I chose the tree, which doesn't fit. So I needed to cut it. It actually makes it easier to place on the plate anyway. I thought there was WAY too much support. So I did manual painted supports. I thought I got it good. Nope, parts fell off. I did more supports again, failed again. Eventually I said screw it and did automatic supports. That worked, but man what a pain! It looks great with prusament brown. IT's like the perfect color for this tree. For other prints I didn't think prusament brown was the right choice.
Anyway I got my filament in. The cursed part is printing again in the new filament. I don't like it as much as the part I can't use. The prusament marble is better. The green for the grass was better. It's almost done and so far it's flawless. It really fills up the plate. I can barely fit it on.
sometimes, even with manual supports, parts just get angry. I know the pain of having a favorite color disappear too! It is a bummer!
@@3DMusketeers ironically sunlu now feels like a higher quality filament. Originally I thought it felt really cheap and crappy.
One sided print cooling...
yeah?
FIRST. Cope and seethe.
