Love that you picked a larger model and are breaking down into more than one video. I really like that you didn't have a big agenda on how to paint it as quick as possible and seemed to really enjoy the process. Would love to see it finished in the future!
Definitely appreciate the slower-pace, in-depth, high-quality painting here--helpful and interesting!
Very very cool!
Finish that sucker. We want to see it
I really enjoy these in depth higher level painting videos. Also makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who takes forever on one model. I'm also not painting to build armies either. I just like to paint minis.
And yes, please finish this for us in some more videos. This project is going to look great!
YES of course we want to see you finish it! Dude honestly, I would absolutely dig like a 3 part series where you really talk through and ruminate on a project as you go. longer forum "discussion" video mini-series are seriously under rated in my book, and id be shocked if alot of others didnt agree. Thanks again!
Tbh I prefer this type of video from you, I really enjoy watching the full painterly process. There are a million speed painters on TH-cam but so few at your level so getting to observe you display that level is great. Looking forward to part two!
I allow the dopamine to guide me. I’ll paint some 40K minis. Then some dnd minis. Then I even painted some free hand on a random gift project for my Mom. I’ll get back to 40K eventually. Check in with yourself to make sure that if you’re not having fun, it’s okay to pump the brakes and go find it.
When I am not motivated , i can just watch one of John's videos, and I the intro really takes me back to when I first started painting. Ninjon was my first favorite TH-cam creator. Still is my favorite overall. I think it's because he doesn't constantly upload videos. So when I see one, I get stoked to watch it. Thanks to John for being with me since day one of my hobby journey.
YES =)
From my point of view as a vastly less experienced painter, this style of video is a lot more helpful feeling good about my own painting journey. Seeing all those 'paint 120 models on the weekend' style Videos doesn't really allow for errors or changing of the plan.
I would have loved seeing a few examples of you going back in with the base color fixing mistakes when you talked about it, not going into details, just showing it.
Because it's easy to assume nobody makes mistakes while they happen a lot when you're new, regardless of the reason (like bad brush control or didn't check the amount of paint which will come off etc).
Overall, please keep doing these videos
Its totally cool to just paint this part of the model like this and show us the rest later, if you decide to do the rest at all. I know you have to cater to your audience, but as a part of that audience I can safely say that it doesn't really matter what you are painting so long as you share your insights along the way, since that is what I am here for. If I only cared about the finished product id just click on the video and then skip to the end and leave. I'm sure some people do that but, for people who are actually here for the content, its the insight and personality that we are here for. Do your thing chief, the rest will follow.
I’m a new-ish painter in my first year and I’m extremely anal about my models so I’ve only painted about 75 models fully. But Jon I love your videos because it helps me get to what I’m looking for in a model much quicker and with less trial and error.
Also, accidentally spending 15 hours on a single model unintentionally is completely relatable. And ending your video with a loud “fuck!” Makes me feel better too for some reason
75 models in your first year is very impressive! Nice job! And welcome to the hobby!
@RhiaJade aye, that is an achievement. I've been painting around 2 years, my first year I managed roughly 5 completed models. 75 is impressive.
@@RhiaJade oh wow. I see all these videos where people say they spend 30 minutes on a termagaunt to get it table ready and spending an hour or more on a troop is crazy. Here I am spending 2-3 hours on small units and 15-20 on large ones…
@@madMARTYNmarsh1981 hey thanks. I appreciate it. 60 of those are troop units of Tyranids and marines. The other 15 are a mix of mostly specialist and a few large units. I still have a lot of practice before I get where I want to be but I can see the progress
wow, I have painted for 8 months, and have only completed 5 models :-P Still working on the bases :-D
Would love to watch you finish the model. The way you plan and take it from start to finish is really encouraging.
I love seeing you dive deeper into bigger projects like this and breaking it down to show us how you approach bigger and higher end model painting.
I am just getting back into the hobby after 20+ years. I prefer these more detailed segments. The attention to detail allows me to try more when painting something new.
It's really easy to fall into a "I'll save painting this for a few days" and then that turns into a few weeks, a few months.
I would love to see this model fully finished in a mini series where you go full send on all of it
the shelves bending under the weight of un-assembled, un-painted miniatures is chef's kiss
A far as I'm concerned, the more you enjoy the process, the more I do as a viewer. Keep it up, looking forward to the completed model! No rush though, really.
I’m a newer painter, and have been watching your videos since I started last year. I gotta say, this is probably my favorite video you’ve made, not cause it all comes together but because there’s so many minute mistakes and expectations that you just roll through, I’d love to see what’s next for our biker friends that’s for sure!!
I actually prefer you doing it in parts. The big projects can get overwhelming with how much information you put out. Keep it up dude.
As someone who takes his time painting (not to quite this level) I really enjoyed this. Looking forward to the rest
Yes, I want to see it completed. It looks great and I also love that you’re using TTC paints for part of the project. My wave 2 paints just arrived so can’t wait to use them.
It looks great so far! I'm looking forward to seeing the next steps.
More like this please!!!
I don't need an entire set done in a single video, a single high quality sub assembly is totally fine
@Ninjon don’t ever feel like you’ve let us down! Your videos continue to be an inspiration to keep painting, make mistakes as a mini painter, and trying new things! Would be awesome to see the finished model all put together! Keep slayin’ that gray!
PS.: the outtakes are bomb haha!
I like that this is basically how I paint, not concerned about how long it takes just putting in the effort I feel like at the time whether full ballsack or table top standard. I always find this the most satisfying way
I've been needing something like this, ive been doing so mich speed painting recently i'm feeling pulled to really take my time on a miniature 👍
The scheme you chose kicks ass and it really gets me thinking how fun it would be to have Fire Dragons on bikes instead of Shroud Runners, zipping around the board blasting things to bits with their firepikes.
I'm always down for a paint and talk video, and having one project spread out over a few videos just sounds like good content to me!
Dude, paint the whole thing or paint just the coat, or boots, or whatever. Majority of us like you, content is a bonus. Helpful content is a bonus bonus.
Glad you found an inspiring project. Will absolutely stick around to see more!
Yes - please complete the jetbike!
Breaking down model painting into more detailed things is great. That said, I got back in to the hobby again recently and am just watching every single video you've made. They're therapeutic. I love watching people paint
I will always vote to watch an artist paint something they want to, instead of painting something that they think the community wants. It’s always better in some intangible way. Keep painting what you want! There’s no better way to slay the grey.
This is great. There's infinite space for videos like this, where you talk about the model, journey, techniques and inspiration as you go. Pretty much what you were talking about with 52 Miniatures.
You owe us!! A series of you finishing this whole mini that is, all the while rambling about anything you want as it's always entertaining regardless :)
I love a multi part video series. I would love to watch 4 or 5, 20 min videos on a single complicated project.
Great video! Great paint job! I really like the retrowave too.
You owe us not a thing. You do you and share the parts you want to share. You keep posting, we'll keep watching.
This is ninjon at his best imo. The golden demon series of your diorama was hands down the most satisfying videos to watch. High quality, good humor, end product is clean.
I get you can’t paint every model like this though would drive you mad!
Finish this model as a series! Would love to see the bike finished, and would love to see you push yourself on the basing! I always get lazy on basing.
I have been watching videos around doing dioramas before jumping in to my own. Really appreciate you breaking the project up into separate videos instead of cramming everything into one video and showing less steps.
I’ll watch how ever many 20 minute videos it takes to finish this whole build. 10/10
This is one of my favorite videos of yours, I would like to see more big projects broken down like this
great work as always Jon, would love to see the rest of the mini painted up
This video is the perfect antidote to the current trend in slap-dash speed-paint rush-jobs.
Thankyou for taking us on your journey of careful planning about colours and themes, concentration, and high-precision execution.
As a long time watcher and recently initiated painter, I liked this video a lot and would love to see more like it
Loved the video, it's great seeing iterations of a project. Don't beat yourself up about not having a whole masterclass display piece finished for a single 20min video.
Yes, please finish it. Good to see something where you take your time and enjoy it, we don't need everything rush-rush-rush.
Yep yep yep. I'd watch a video for every piece of this amazing mini. Have fun with it. And please finish it ❤
I feel like I learn the most from videos like this where you really focus on the steps while also musing about the process along the way. I'm also a fan of multi-part videos, so having it broken up so you put the effort you want into each piece and then having the final culmination of putting everything together is exciting, so please do!
Always appreciate seeing the process more than simply skipping to the finished model. And don't beat yourself up over not finishing the full thing. It takes me a similar time just to hit table standard 😅
Would love to see a part 2, maybe covering the bike process and then putting it all together.
You don’t owe us anything bro.
I love these videos and you don’t HAVE to complete the piece in a single 20min for it to be interresting.
We watch you for your process(and great results ngl😅).
Keep these coming we want to see the complete piece!
Hey Jon, just wanted to say thank you. When I hit those times where my painting isn't exciting me, it I just can't being myself to pick up my brushes, your videos really help me get back to my models. So yeah, thank you.
Great video Jon. I always like to see projects completed.
While not intended I think it's great you took so much time on the one mini. Not only does it show the importance of taking one's time to achieve a result your happy with, but it's also a good lesson on adapting. You knew you weren't going to get everything finished so instead of rushing and being unhappy with the work you did you made sure you got something done to a level you were happy with. Sometimes that's all that's needed in the hobby
Great video Jon!
I like this video because it focuses more on the intricate and tiny details with little tips and tricks. Sometimes you need to crank out basic paint jobs on multiple models but others you just want to make one model really stand out and be a little extra with the details.
It's always nice to just hang out and paint with you Jon, don't worry about not finishing the entire thing :)
Honestly, if this becomes a three-parter project, I'd be all for it.
As someone whos just getting into the hobby, and using your channel as a learning/teaching tool, its great to see all aspects of your level of skill put on display. There's great value in your videos that show how to hone your skills with strategic painting techniques that aren't always as time consuming. But it's also a lot of fun to see you paint at the best of your ability to really see what's achievable when time, dedication and all the techniques learned along the way are applied to a single piece. Would absolutely love to see you finish this piece in another video or two!
That's exactly how I approach it as well. I don't push myself to the limit on every single model, but I do endeavor to paint to the best of my ability anyway. At least one quick and dirty miniature before my next large scale project that will require my utmost focus and attention is generally how I do things.
Multi-part videos are great, especially when at the end, the sum of the parts is a fantastic finished piece. I’m digging it.
I'd like to see you finish it
Please do more of this! It really helps me. I paint for relaxation and put everything I have into each model. But I now have a painful backlog. This kind of content really helps me streamline my processes whilst still being able to do my very best each time. Peace x
Dude I'd watch you paint and entire army, one model per video at a time. You rock
I had the same thing happening with my Shroudrunners. It took forever to paint the whole squad. These sculpts are way trickier to paint than one can imagine at first.
I enjoy exploring your painting with you. For me, your finishing models doesn't matter nearly as much as process.
Yes! More like this! Would love to see the full process in a couple more videos or so.
Jon, I've followed you since day one, since you appeared on Scott's channel, your growth as a youtuber and entertainer is unbelievable, but more so, your growth as an artist. You may not realise it from where your sitting, but when I sit down with a cup of tea (yes I'm british) in front of the TV, and there is a new ninjon video, I get happy.
Keep doing what you do pal, your making thousands of people happy, and your growing your own skill in the process. 💪
It's always good to do what you feel a model needs, whether it be four hours or 2 months. If the process is fun, then it'll be fun to watch.
Jon - I continue to find your comments re: processes and the intentions *behind* them even more useful and enjoyable than the straight-up technical details. Not that the technique stuff isn't helpful! But *lots* of other videos do that really well. Comments like 'It might look better, or it might not... but you won't know how far you can go till you try," are the sorts of things that are very specific to YOUR channel, which is why I Subscribed.
Keep it up!
PS - YES more 'long form' project videos like this and YES please film the bike painting process as well!
loving it cannot wait to see thee finished project
Can't wait to see the whole piece.
Love it! Finish it!
Definitely need to finish the whole model
I totally love this kind of videos, and, someone one time said, "if you only whatch begginer tutorials you are going to paint like a begginer forever", keep doing this more advanced/complex videos pls, I really like how you talk about what you are doing and why you did it. It shows that painting is not a linear process
Absolutely amazing, cannot wait to see the rest!!!
I like Ninjon. He brings me joy and never rubs me the wrong way, such a relaxing dude
Loved it so much can't wait to see the rest of the bike done!!!
Love it, more of this in depth painting 🤟
definitely can't wait to see part 2
looks incredible, love that you took your time for this, cant wait to see the next parts on it
LOVES it! One other source of inspiration you totally missed is watching other painters, like yourself.
Need to see the rest of this model! I'm HERE for this kind of video!!!
I love these good ol' just painting a miniature videos.
Thanks for the motivation!
I'll be honest, seeing the Craftworld shroudrunner made me pick this video instantly.
Please show some more painting of Craftworld models! 🔥🔥🔥♥️♥️♥️
amazing paint job, keep it going
Really enjoy seeing these more focused videos.
Heck yes a 2nd video to finish. Love your work man, keep it up!
Definitely want to see this finished!
Really enjoyed this!
Finish up!! Thanks for doing this. Fantastic work!!
That looks amazing! I can't wait to see the whole project finished ❤
Defo want to see the rest of this project! It’s excellent so far
Absolutely love these longer more in depth painting videos. Keep up the most excellent work.
I love how neat and organised your pile of shame in
Love the sleeve!
cant wait to see it finished, Its looking amazing!!!!!
I absolutely loved this video !
I would love to see this project continue!
I definitely want to see the whole model finished, and don't care how many videos it takes.
