Great review! This definitely looks like it can be a head to head competitor vs the Apple Watch when it comes to fitness. Love the mic and speaker quality. Will definitely check it out!
I owned the venu 2, interm of battery wise, it works well. Not much upgrade from venu 2 plus interm of battery capacity, for me battery is the crucial part for upgrade.
Hey Des, thanks again for an awesome review. One thing I appreciate about your reviews is that you consider both the cardio and strength tracking capabilities of the device. Out of interest, how do you balance your cardio and strength training generally.
Just ordered this one. Was considering Fenix 6 but ultimately I dont think i'll use all of the Fenix features, plus enjoy the size, touchscreen, and smart watch features on the Venu 2 plus. It'll eliminate my need for my dated apple watch too. I do wish the venu would have some more running/training features though, even just to try out! Happy that it will at least partially provide decent features for skiing and golf.
You just convinced to return my Fitbit sense and go with this. Going to get my girlfriend one in a couple weeks too. Been using Fitbit for over a year but want to try garmin
On my way to Best Buy as soon as they open. Been wanting to give Garmin a try. Been using a Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. This video did it for me. Keep it up.
@@bigshockka2363 That's awesome! I was a previous android user, have been using apple for the last year and I loveee my apple watch but at the same time I bored of ios and the apple. Great review!!! so clear and in depth! now that this new garmin has come out I would love to see it compared to the Apple watch series 7! Because they are not that far apart in price and it seems that with the new features of the Garmin venu 2 plus the choice between the two watches has become even harder! Thanks so much for the hard work!!
Great review, thank you. 3 questions 1.) if you install the google assistant on an iPhone can you use the voice assistant on the Plus? 2.) can you set timers on the watch using SIRI? 3.) Really great video thank you very much for the in-depth review. Off the back of this video I have purchased the watch. About time we had something to rival apple watch for Android.
You always nail my specific questions. Awesomeness! I don't like the battery life on a Samsung watch and just the time to update, setup, etc. that those watches take (same with the apple watch). This will be a great daily companion with my Forerunner 55 that I love. Although, I have to put on my traditional Swiss watches occasionally. :)
Thanks for the review, seems like a nice watch and finally one with mic/speaker, though ultimately it won't make me switch from my F6s Pro. Too many things like training effect missing... Btw, you should probably highlight Garmin's awesome workouts feature for strength training where you can pre-define complete workouts with the rest periods as well as sets and weights and save it as a plan on the watch. Completely eliminates the guessing the watch has to do, and coupled with the music feature also the neee to carry the phone with you 👍
The lack of set building on the Samsung is one of the big reasons I was leaning away from it. I love building my daily workouts and just sending it to my watch!
Great review Des! Great to see Garmin brought these new features to bring the Garmin watches a step closer to some of the other manufacturers who already have had the voice assistant capabilities. Looking forwards to getting my hands on the watch as well.
Hi DesFit, I am a UK viewer of your video which was great. I sold all 10 of my G Shocks in 2021, and bought a Fenix 6X Pro sapphire, and an Apple watch series 7. I am an 82 year old man, so not into gyms, weight training, running etc. I just like playing with watches! I am about to read your comparison of the Venu 2+ and Apple watch 7, which may answer my question, but should I ditch my 6X Pro for the Venu 2+? I am not bothered too much about the music feature, though I do like to message and take calls on my Apple watch 7. Many thanks. Terry Davis.
Happy New Year Des! Aside from having a speaker and microphone, does the V2+ have anything different in the software when compared to the V2? Like extra sport profiles, watch faces, etc. I currently have a V2 (unopened) thinking I may return for the V2+

Great Review as always. I have the originaç Venu2. I love the watch but this one has some pretty interesting updates. Nevertheless, does it solve 2 issues the original did not have comparing against other Garmin watches : 1. recovery time 2. Train Effect?
The training features are usually found on Garmin's Forerunner and Fenix lineup of watches. Unfortunately they don't include those features on their "smartwatch" lineup of watches. Would be cool though! Thanks!

It's fairly accurate from my testing, not quite as accurate as a Fitbit but ball park good. Doesn't matter which wrist you wear it on but always good to make sure your user settings are set to the wrist you are wearing it on.
Yup, I talked about price later in the video. The speaker and microphone features are nice but if you don’t need those and if you can get a good deal on the original Venu 2 the sports and fitness features are nearly identical, so you could save some money. Thanks!
I know this was posted a year ago. No one has really gone into what can and can't be done through Google Assistant. Can I say into the Vennu 2, " Hey Google, take me to the nearest Starbucks by foot" and start walking and it will tell me where to turn? I really would think it could, but reviews make it sound like it can't. Which would surprise me because I can do this with my Shockz bluetooth headphones. Similar to this, have any apps in Garmin IQ been improved to do the above AND show the map on the screen? Great video. I'm unsure if the Venu 2S (smaller one) will be too small for me or if I have to get the Plus or larger Venu 2. I have a slim wrist even though I'm a guy and don't want a big chunky statement device, but something I can wear under a smart shirt at work. Something I'm interested in is that the Quantified Scientist found that the sleep tracking of the Venu Plus was not as good as the Venu 2 on his sample data. Kind of hard to compare - Vantage V is a multisport/triathlon focused watch where this is more focused on smart features. I am really considering buying this smartwatch but I am not sure if it can integrate with the runkeeper app - do you maybe know?
Ty in advance!
Can you answer calls on the Venu 2S the 40mm ?
I love the L&F and feature! What about following a gpx? Like for hikes?
Would love to see a comparison video between a venu and a Fitbit versa or alike. I feel like people who either want a Samsung or apple watch are going to get either of those since they have the Samsung or apple phone. The question is what smartwatch do people get who aren't enclosed in those ecosystems?
Fitbit seriously sucks! I bought versa 3 and returned it same day.
Hi I am stuck between the venu 2 plus and forerunner 255 or Apple Watch
I am Fitbit diehard but am done with tbem. I walk about 12k steps a day and want to have something easy. I am also big into sleep tracking. Love the videos
