    Hi, really good video, I have recently bought a 2+ thanks to yours, and a few other, video reviews 👍🏾. Got it £100 cheaper at Amazon, purely due to the colour of the strap 🤷‍♂️, which can be easily changed (10 straps for £15 on Amazon, again 🤷‍♂️). Just a couple of observations. When you got out of bed to get your kids sorted, then went to back to bed for an hour, but wasn't recorded, it is likely the 2+ 'thought' you were having a nap, which you rightly point out the 2+ doesn't record.
    It took me a few re-watches to change the data fields from your vid, but got the gist and customised mine for my needs, thank you. TBH, although the 2+ is a far superior and accurate to the T Rex pro I have used previously the UI on the 2+ is a bit more clunky, at least in these initial stages. But really good vid, liked, saved, subscribe 👍🏾.

    I just received my Venu 2 Plus on Wednesday and this was so helpful compared to the book since you gave much more detail. I upgraded from Garmin Forerunner 245 and was about to purchase a Venu 2 in November when I found out a Plus version was coming and so waited for the Plus to roll out and so glad I did. Still trying to figure out a few things, since all my music is on Apple & not Spotify or others. I guess I'll have to download my playlist or just use iPhone music until I decide what else I can do. But again thanks so much...you're previous videos I watched on other comparisons and watches is what helped me decide on whether to stay with Garmin or jump to Apple 7 and glad I stayed with Garmin!

      Definitely not an upgrade when it comes to any but the most basic training features. They should merge the Venu and lower end Forerunners at this point.

    EXCELLENT review !!!!! The best and most thorough review that I have seen to date on the Garmin Venu 2 Plus. I am very impressed with the features of the watch but I have 2 concerns. 1. At $449 it's way too expensive, and 2. The fact that this Garmin watch or any other Garmin watch does NOT track naps is a deal breaker for me..... However, the myriad of other features are very impressive, which makes me wonder why they would overlook adding such a simple feature as tracking naps.... I can get an equally impressive Galaxy watch for about half the price, which tracks your naps.

      You mention price point, but you're forgetting Apple charges more for Stainless steel a standard feature built into the Venu 2 Plus and it's SS on both sides which Apple does not do even with added up charge to SS. It also has much better glass and display and so when you add SS to the standard Apple Watch price is higher than Garmin and with a lot less features built in, glass that is fragile and also have to get more apps rather than fitness items built in.

    Great video to get a quick overview, thank you very much for that. I received my Venu 2 Plus last week. I'm very satisfied and still playing around with the display settings to see which is the most practical. With a Vivoactive 3 as my predecessor watch, I'm used to an always on-display (which is especially practical when you have to catch a train... sometimes seconds are decisive 😉). I therefore opted for the always on-setting and found that the display is deactivated in the Always on setting during the defined sleep time and remains dark (which is very practical, as the display is relatively bright even at the lowest level). On the other hand, it unfortunately remains active in the do not disturb-setting with passive backlighting. However, with a toddler, I am sometimes in bed earlier than the regular bedtime and would like to be able to temporarily turn off the display. Haven't managed to do this yet unfortunately - am I missing a setting? Many thanks in advance for any help.

      Generally speaking about 2-2.5 days in 'always-on' display mode, and about 5-6 days in gesture mode. That's assuming roughly 1hr of workout per day, a mix of GPS and non-GPS (based on my testing). Official claims for battery are a bit higher for gesture mode at 9 days, but that's without the dayil workouts I'm doing.

    Good afternoon. I recently bought a Garmin Venu 2 Plus model. I love it and it has everything I need. There is one problem, can you tell me what the essence is. It's about paying with Garmin Pay. I watched earlier reviews in which bloggers claimed that after the watch is put on the hand and the code is entered before payment, then in subsequent times if the watch was not removed, the code does not need to be entered. After entering the code, I still have the opportunity to pay without entering the code for 10 minutes, and then the watch asks for the code again. I deleted and relinked the card but it did not help. I tightened the belt tightly so that the watch always touched the hand, but it did not help. Is it a marriage or raw firmware? It seems that the sensor periodically does not see the watch on the hand? What do you think about this? I really hope you can give me some advice.

      Just keep in mind what you pay for...I did a detailed comparison a few months ago on multiple watches before deciding to stay w/ Garmin and others you mentioned can't touch the Garmin wellness tracking features, especially for women. But also very informative for men and also think the fitness tracking/workouts beat Apple and others as they are already built in. Lastly, only this one is stainless steel as standard as others are NOT and Apple only offers SS as an upgrade of $100+ and Titanium even more $$$ so Garmin gives you SS on both sides & better glass than all other making the price point very worth it!! Like another poster commented, my employer gives us incentive $$$ for wellness devices and purchases so mine was basically free but I did compare several regardless of price.

    Have you compared actual vo2 max ratings with this rating? What have been your findings of watch-based projected vo2 max vs actual (with mask etc)?

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's been a long while since I've voluntarily suffered through a proper VO2Max test in a lab. Though, it might be a fun experiment for later this spring. That said, historically speaking I've found these devices are surprisingly close - but only if you do a workout that actually mirrors that. Meaning, most of these watches will guess Vo2max from interval or medium-high intensity workouts. And it's usually in the ballpark of accuracy (+/- 3-5 units), but I find it gets within 1-2 units when you do a very tough interval workout. Also, ideally something that's got good GPS coverage, since it's going to look at pace/speed. So a track workout might slightly undercut, same goes for a trail run.

    • @ericB3444
      @ericB3444 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dcrainmaker it sounds like you’re leaning to products that produce a projected value for more than just the run, walk and hike algorithms in the Apple Watch. Do some of these watches allow for a projected reading from a high intensity interval workout? Based on what you’re saying would an Apple Watch outdoor 20 minute brisk walk have the widest margin from a real reading?

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ericB3444 Yeah. Garmin, Suunto, and Polar also can do it for cycling with a power meter. Polar can actually do it while lying down (seriously), though accuracy tends to be more wobbly. Ultimately, the big thing to keep in mind is that VO2Max as a value tends to stabilize pretty quickly in a person once they become 'fit', at which point you largely plateau at whatever genetics gave you. So for someone just getting into sport it can be interesting to track initially, but if someone working out a few years consistently, it's basically not going to change anymore.

    • @matthewdray83
      @matthewdray83 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a recent lab test, Garmin was 4 units higher (10%) than my measured VO2 Max. I struggle with VO2 max when switch from cycling indoors/outdoors, outdoors is always 3 units higher than indoors. Ironically indoor VO2 max was closest to the measured. In my view this is one of the flaws of Garmin's Training Status whenever I train indoors, rides are always unproductive. This is the one thing I would want Garmin to fix. (not sure what influence you might have here Ray?)

      On the main watch face, you simply long-hold them for a second, and it should bring you to the right details. Note that as of this moment, it's just the Venu 2 Plus, and then the firmware for the existing Venu 2 units comes in February.

    I'm so fedup with Apple Watch, as fitness tracker. Any decent app for health-tracking is a 3rd part app with a monthly subscription. And that after I already paid so much money to get the watch. Enough is enough. I think I'll get one of those. It looks like a very decent entry-point to the world of Garmin. Shame on Apple for doing this to their base. An 800 Euros watch with no way to track steps live (not a refresh every 100 hundred steps - while a Fitbit from ten years ago does that live counting already). Anyway...sorry for my frustrated rant. Excellent video. Many thanks! I think you might have sold this watch to me.

      You can send someone a text only if they are in your contacts. For example, an Apple Watch you can just tap the microphone and speak your message. This you will say, “Send Chris a text” and it will say, “What do you want to say”? You then say “How are you doing?” Then it will say, “Do you want me to send”? You reply, “Yes.” It then sends. You cannot say to to the watch “reply back to the text.” This will only text them if their names appear in your contacts. Also, I heard if you are an android user you can reply with some preprogrammed messages but I am an IOS user. I have this watch
