  • Gredwch chi byth, ond mae Dafydd Iwan wedi bod yn diddanu cynulleidfaoedd ar hyd a lled Cymru am dros hanner canrif. Ac ers y cychwyn cyntaf, yn Abergwaun yn 1962, mae ei ganeuon wedi gafael ym mhobl Cymru fel cyfeiliant i hanes Cymru dros yr hanner can mlynedd ddiwethaf.
Mae gwreiddiau Dafydd yn ddwfn yn naear Maldwyn ar ochr ei fam, ac yr oedd tyddyn Esgair Llyn, a anfarwolwyd ganddo, ar dir fferm y teulu yn Aberhosan. Bu'n canu droeon ar lwyfan y Pafiliwn ac mae’n un o ffrindiau triw'r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol a’r Noson Lawen.
Dyma Dafydd Iwan yn perfformio ‘Yma o hyd’ gyda gweddill artistiaid y noson i gloi Noson Lawen Eisteddfod Maldwyn a'r cyffiniau.
All artists join Dafydd Iwan in a rousing finale of ‘Yma o hyd’ at the Eisteddfod Maldwyn Noson Lawen.

I'm a Yorkshire man living in south Wales and I get goosebumps listening to this and the welsh anthem, a very proud nation. They punch way above there weight when it comes to their religion, rugby. We have a peak in Yorkshire called Pen Y Ghent and I believe the northern Welsh kings had there territory all the way into Yorkshire. It isn't surprising given the welsh are the original brits.

Whenever I hear this song, it makes me SO SO proud to be Welsh, and it’s really funny how Welsh people are ALL literally all proud I don’t know a single person who doesn’t shout these words at the top of their lungs whenever they hear it whether their in a car, in some kind of meeting, or of course in a stadium!
Thank you Dafydd Iwan, Wales wouldn’t be the same without you. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I'm Finnish so it's unlikely I'll ever learn Welsh, but I love this song and the language. I first heard it at Parc Y Scarlets last year, they played it many times because the Scarlets scored 9 tries v Ospreys, and people sitting behind me were singing this every time. I had to google it as soon as I got to the hotel, and have listened to it a 1000 times... Diolch Dafyff Iwan!!

My favourite Welsh language song! As a monolingual English speaker I can't get enough of it! The chorus, translated, into English, "In spite of everyone and everthing, we are still here" could be the rallying cry of alll the Celtic nations and any people who have suffered mistreatment because of the language or cultural identity!

We visited an exhibition called Celtica in Macclyneth ìn 1997, and they played this song as you left. I had many many caravan holidays in Llangym in the 70s & 80s & love the place. About 6 years ago I got diagnosed with an illness that will finish me if I don't take a pile of meds every day. I'm English but I loves Wales, and I love this song which has stirred me for 25 years. And to my illness - I'm still here too.

Mari Lwyd they claim that it's Mary and her bloody donkey......my name means from Briton...they claim it's French. I have been desperately digging after realizing the strong connection to everything happening now....the final stages of a very long plan....bloody Roman Catholic Germans....church might have changed hands but the game is still the same.
