Ditto. I feel so sorry for 80's kids that thought their times were best. Maddy Prior, Judith Durham, Sally Carr..... that's the music I cut my teeth on. Great to be a child of the sixties. 😊

@@paulcronin3626 It is not. It's of a folk song with 19th century English origins (from at least the 1820s). It is recorded in the Roud Folk Song Index. It is, however, to be found in various versions in the English speaking world.

Great effort by Maddy here. She's pushing 70 at the time and has such a wonderful way about her. Still clearly really enjoying performing this jaunty song with all of the original sassiness. I've loved this song since the 70's and she does it proud.

Albert Head I saw Steeleye Span perform in a large pub courtyard in the mid 75’s. It was quite hilarious, as the evening progressed everyone (band and audience) got more and more drunk. Poor old Maddy, she could barely stand upright by the end of the evening. Ah, the good old days !

A fantastic song by a wonderful person and singer. In the sixties me and a friend were following the blind Rev Gary Davis on his UK tour. We first met Maddy at Keele University when she was conducting him on his tour. Maddy was wary of us at first when we were recording Gary playing freely outside. When we next met her in a Yorkshire concert I had heard her sing for the first time. An astounding voice and I said so to her on stage as she wrapped up. Maddy realizing we were hiking countrywide to follow the great man, invited us to join them both in her car for the rest of the tour. We even stayed a night at Maddy's home in St Albans meeting her famous dad. Wonderful times. Wonderful music all round.

For decades I knew there was a song out there that I loved beyond all else but that might never be heard again. At some point 6/7 years ago, I figured it out. And now with such great audio quality, it is totally sublime.

I think it's great that Maddy and Annie Haslam from Renaissance are still performing. Alas, Sandy Denny passed away far too young.

I saw Annie/Renaissance about a year ago in Ithaca, NY. Great concert. Loved them since the Carnegie Hall live album in mid70's.
