    This is brilliant thank you. Dealer wanted to charge me $260 to put the locks in my cases.

      I'm about ready to pay. Can't get the fucking lock cylinder into the case flush. I aligned the locking nub as per instructions AND this video. No dice. What a headache.

      It did take some force from memory. Do you have a rubber mallet?

    Hi Steve,
    I was reluctant to order the OEM cases for mine because my dealer wanted to charge me €200 to configure the locks. Thanks to your video, I feel ready to do it myself (and save 200.- € :-)) If you're ever in France, I'd be delighted to invite you over for a beer (or two ...).
    Many thanks!

      How did you get the old barrels out? I have one I need to remove and I’m making the pannier a wreck in the process

    • @mattswindells8285
      @mattswindells8285 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I worked it out in the end. You have to undo the bottom 2 screws from inside the pannier on the locking mechanism side and the two KTM head small bolts between the inner box and the outer case. Remove the connecting cable between the 2 sides so it’s easier to manage.
      Slide out the locking mechanism watching for the 2 levers and springs to pop out - slide slowly you’ll see them.
      Unscrew the 2 retaining screws that hold the 2 halves of the locking mechanism together and then remove the lever mechanism - it’s best to do all this with the handle up in open position.
      The lock pin is then exposed on the barrel and you can push it down to slide the barrel out.
      Reverse process puts it back together - levers and springs are the fiddliest but manageable.
      I had to do all this because I forgot to put the O ring on when I coded the keys on the right pannier.
      Lesson in taking your time in the first place….

    Steve, could you get the key out with the handles up? I'm still struggling to fathom out how to do it. My key won't come out of the lock in the carry position. 👍

    • @stevesherlockrides
      @stevesherlockrides  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to have the handles retracted in the closed position to remove the key

    • @elvisqpublic

      I just tried mine, and you can turn the key all the way to open, so the handle pops up, then turn it back to halfway, and the key will come out ...fully unlocked

    Thanks for the video. I simply cannot believe KTM / Austrians would ship a product in this state. Why would they not set up the lock barrels into the luggage at the factory? What kind of clown show is this you need to be a locksmith to install luggage on a motorcycle now days? Got to this part on my 1290 and I'm incredibly pissed off right now. Also JFC man mute the audio when fast forwarding next time.

    • @elvisqpublic
      @elvisqpublic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you want them to open with the same key that starts the bike, it has to be this way. Most of the time, the bags do not come with the bike. If yours did, then it's your dealer that you should be pissed at, not KTM. The dealer could do this for you.
