Episode 2: Our 2024 bike adventure - Espinama to Sotres trail Picos (Scary!)
มุมมอง 961หลายเดือนก่อน
Wow this day was by far the most gruelling ride I and John have ever done. We rode the mountain trail from Espinama to Sotres (potentially the harder direction to have travelled) and under estimated what lay ahead. This is part of the trans European trail (TET), and I did it on road tyres. Please enjoy and subscribe.

John and I start our annual adventure as we ride from the north west of England to.the Picos De Europa National Park. We see the Picos for the first time and are blown away. We also start what becomes an ongoing debate over which is the best - Ducati or KTM lol Please enjoy this first episode of our tour covering over 2,500 miles across 14 days of excitement, drama and life long memories.

Blows the cobwebs out of my brain every time I ride the Healy Pass. Great video
I want to do it again
There are few cars on the mountainside roads. Very good for riding😊
Enjoying the road trip..just a question what comms do you use or recommend as my daughter enjoys being a pillion but it would be great if we could chat as we ride...keep the episodes coming 👍
I use Cardo Packtalk Bold, you can buy as a pair as cheaper that way. They have just released a new version call packtalk edge but a little more expensive. I think all the cardo products are ace. There are cheaper ones if you just want rider to pillion as they only need Bluetooth, where as the ones abuse are full mesh for up to 15 riders over a 1 km range. There are also a few YT bloggers that can give 10% discount
Great roads Steve!! Great trip, I’ve been through that town with the jet on too, did ya manage to sort the XT out? You may need to reinstall the map
The XT was great if I left it calculate its own routes and superb when you select the Adventure option. Doing a vid as we speak as went to the ABR festival at the weekend and was amazing
put the tinted screen on but lose the fork socks, they make it look a bit slutty. The hard panniers are Touratech ducati branded, but they make smaller size hard boxes that i think might look a bit more executive, not a fan of the plastic cases. those handguards look good on that model, they seem to suit it for some reason, it's very stealthy looking, very nice
They don't dona ducati smoked screen the same size. You can have either PP spec or the tourer size.
Inhale thé sale singe March,I want my gs 1250 back
28.45 LOL🤣 Brave man!!!!
Daft man lol
5 of us there end of May hit that same road closure 😤😤😤
Will be ace when finished though
U all did a good job for Davie . He was a lovely guy
I have about 1200 miles on mine and I’m getting 185 miles per tank, I can get 210 miles if I push it and coast into the next gas ⛽️ station 😊
Oh that's much better than I was getting. Must be more gentle on the gas than me
@@stevesherlockrides Yeah it was a road trip so a good amount of cruising at 70-80mph but it still made a few blasts up to 145mph 😂. Getting the Akro exhaust installed soon. I thought the Brocks full system for my H2 was bad at $1800. The Akro I am getting for $6500 installed…I can buy another bike for that price!!! Ducati tax I guess 😫
Dream bike of everyone 😊😊😊😊
How has the bike been in the reliability? Im picking one up next week. Same colour. Brand new. Got it for £7k herr in the Philippines. How much was the tech pack?
100% reliable but the tech pack was included free of charge when I bought her. You will enjoy however its good enough without the tech pack
Love mine....nice review.
Is it your main bike, if so have you done any touring on it?
@@stevesherlockrides yup, my only bike... Off to Assen next week on her to watch MotoGP, using kriega bag, cant afford panniers yet... furthest I've been in a day is 300miles, no issues with numb arse or wrist pain like on my sports bike, loved every mile of it.
👏
Good honest review. It looks a stunning Bike
Beautiful roads of ronda😊
Absolutely and the ones north through the hills are amazing as I'm doing g the next episode and it's great to remind myself as I edit it
Brilliant video, all the best to everyone rip dave great guy
Proud to say i was part of that, i was only 800 yds behind you Steve. Great quality vid, will save this for the memories..😉👍👍
How did you know where I was? Should have said 👋. Was an ace day wasn't it and as you say, memories for life.
Steve.. I recognized some of the other bikes in and around you, then you at times once I'd played your vid in full. The penny only dropped that I'd seen some of you all after the event and having watched the vid. It was brilliant, two of us stayed over on Walney for two nights until Mon morning.. Too many bikes around me at that point all jostling about to move up, was safer just to hold position for the time being .😉👍
@@stevesherlockrides That should have read 100 yds..😝
What were you riding
@@stevesherlockrides Z900RS - Mine was Candytone Green, my mate had the same but the Yellow ball SE version..😉
Thanks for sharing this I was there on me bike that day. It was an incredibly moving and humbling experience. I Spotted myself at Knutsford in your video which is a bonus. I rode a total of 455 miles that day which wasn’t easy but definitely worth it!
Good man and that's a long day. We stayed over and got a wee drunk lol. Glad you saw yourself
Where does this bike fit in? I understand it's a sports touring machine? But I'm assuming it's a 'summer touring machine' than an all year round kinda bike? The reason I ask, I'm currently trying to put together a 2 bike garage. After selling my XSR900 and 1200GS, I still want something 'fun and fast to tour on but use all year round, motorways, touring(rain or sun) and then n out n out summer toy.. The SX keeps popping up on my list but feel it'd be wasted for anything but summer riding?
Well done you cracked it. Such an outpouring of love going on throughout the country and you captured the mood perfectly Thank you
Thank you I'm glad it resonates.
Amazing day, thank you for having a dave day and coming to Barrow. Crowds started 3x the size of that, but i dont think anyone expected it to take 3 hours to get everyone in 😂
Great Video fella well done
Brilliant video, thanks for sharing.
That was scary watching this
Should have seen it from.my perspective lol
I like the mountains you were riding through
Absolutely stunning
I'm enjoying watching these videos
Another one getting ready for the end of the week. Thank you
Thanks for the video, much appreciated.
That was absolutely amazing, and very humbling to see the esteem in which Dave was held by everyone
Wow what an amazing day one and all. Thank you for this video, it really has shown what a wonderful person Dave was with so much support and love for him. I’m a motorcyclist and live in the south of the UK but was unable to make the ride, this video has made me feel I was there with you all. 👏
You where there in spirit mate.
We were in the barrow crowd (the crowd "on the left all drinking lager" as you noticed🤣) and what an honour to wave you all in. Absolutely everything about that day will stay with me forever. FANTASTIC SIGHT. thank you all of you and for these videos that show us YOUR day from your perspective. Knutsford looked mental but how nice one person can touch and bring together so many. Barrow will never forget Dave Myers. Nor will we forget the day THOUSANDS of bikers lined our roads to honour his memory. ❤
Next time we come I want a pint 🙏
@@stevesherlockrides not a problem 👍
@@stevesherlockrides where did you ride from if you don’t mind me asking?
I rode from Liverpool but met at Knutsford services
@@stevesherlockrides awww fantastic. ❤️
Should make it a yearly ride out
Great video. Thank you for sharing. 👍
Great video,i couldn't get over on the bike but would have loved to have been there as i've never met Dave or Si but they had massive respect from me and i'd say countless millions as well. All these video's also have an other perspective that both those lads would agree with and that's a show of force and it may actually do something we all hope for in a round about way and that is the parasites in power leaving us alone to get on and live our lives the way we want.
Couldn't agree more pal. Thanks for watching and keep the faith hey
Amazing footage. Made me emotional seeing it from your perspective. Im a proud barrovian always have been. Also a wife/mother of motor bike mad men. So our household has been anticipating this day for months (so excited). Dave was, in many ways, the heart and soul of this little town. He always put us on the map when he got the chance. He was very well respected by us locals, absolute legend in my eyes. Hands down got to be one of the best days Barrow has ever witnessed. Thank you so much for being one of many wonderful people to make this happen. ❤ Oh! And i just caught glimps of my youngest son dancing at the end of your clip in the concert 😂
Wow he's famous now lol. Thanks for your kind comments. I'm actually working in Barrow so as we looking to build an electric charging facility there. Hope to visit again soon.
Fantastic video you done really well and I could see how impressed you were with the turnout, brought a tear to my eye and I wasnt even there!
You're obviously a softy like me lol. Thanks for the comment.
I was a Police officer on duty when Queen Elizabeth came to Barrow , and Princess Diana.... I can tell you that there were many more people out on Saturday than has ever been seen in living memory!!! The atmosphere in town was one of unity and love, which the World is sadly lacking. Thanks Steve for coming up with your mates , really enjoyed the video. Ride safe.
Cheers Barry, wow you've experienced some big events. Thank you to you and your colleagues in the force, they were all ace on Saturday.
Arrived here after watching your Daves Day video. (which was good) Looks like you two are going to have fun in the next few videos, so I have subbed 👍
Thanks Spotty we had a blast yes. I hope you enjoy them. Do you plan to ride there yourself?
@@stevesherlockrides Hi Steve, yeah, I went there in 2019 for a week, didn't do any off road trails because my mate has an RT! Was planning on going back in 2020, but that didn't happen... Doing German mountains and world war 1 battlefields this year and probably back to Spain in 2025. I want to go to Burgos where the final scene from the good the bad and the ugly was filmed , Sad Hill cemetry. Ride safe.
I fancy doing the war memorial sites for sure also
Fantastic event for a fantastic guy ! Needs national coverage before next year’s event 👍(assuming there will be one)🤞
The bikers had 1 mission to honor dave ❤ they came in there thousands from every single corner of the country and beyond they completed there mission ❤❤❤❤ how great british people are ❤❤❤
A great send off to a lovely bloke well done to all the lads and lasses who organized and took part
I loved watching this and hearing your live your best life on Dave Day xxx thank you xx
Gutted I couldn't make it, looks a fab day and what an amazing event to show respect for such a true gent.
Great Vid , Thank's for that and time and effort to come to Barrow ..
I was one of the onlooker just outside ulverston what an amazing sight, thankyou to you all it was fantastic.
Hopefully this many bikers will turn out to the FREEDOM RIDES when we ride to protest our future!!!
Send me the details and I will be there?
@@stevesherlockrides Going to be awesome!
Please send details as I would like to promote on my biker youtube channel. Do you want to do a minute or 2 I can put on a video to share?

Just let me know when you know
Fantastic no coppers 😂
To be fair they were amazing on the day
Amazing footage, thank you for sharing your special trip to my hometown. We waved everyone through for 2hrs, you all were awesome, glad you enjoyed!
I was in barrow watching you lovely people come into town. God bless you all for giving your time for dave x
As a non biker, this was probably the most incredible thing I've ever seen!! I drive a Tesco van and got got 'caught' in the convoy. Not a problem, as the atmosphere was just phenomenal! To see that many bikes arriving into our town, in support of one of our own, choked me so much 🥲🥲 The biker community has proved to the world that they're a fantastic, loyal group. Wonderful, simply wonderful 🥰🥰🥰🥰
We aren't a bad lot are we, irrespective of thr bad PR we get sometimes
