Multistrada mods, Test Flights & WTF KTM !!!

This is possibly my last video of 2024. In this video John and I go to Wales to have a chat about KTM's recent problems and we do a few test flights with the new DJI Mini 3 Pro drone. We talk about KTM and how it will affect which bike John goes for next. I also talk a little about a few modifications I'm planning to my Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak including the new Aoocci C6 Pro. Don't lau...

Had an amazing ride today with my pal John. We did Kirkstone Pass, Hartside Pass, Cumbria, Northumberland and North Yorkshire. We rode through really wet and greasy roads after the storms on my Ducati Multistrada Pikes Peak, and John on his KTM 1290 Super adventure S. We went on a ferry, got buzzed by a Hercules RAF plane and rode some absolutely amazing twisty roads. I hope you enjoy the video...

If you rarely ride it what is the point of having it🙂
Just finished watching another video on the Harley Sportster S. A lot of similarities. I like the larger tank on the Ducati v the 11 litres on the Harley. Both are incredible in a straight line.
To be fair this was really good in the turns also wonder you've got the feel of the bike. The v4 engine is sublime
I rode it in my car a few years ago. Been driving 8 years and would still say it’s the hardest road I’ve ever driven. It was fine but you can’t switch off one mistake and you’re in serious trouble
It's been a while myself so will try and get up there again soon. I'm actually excited as just booked the ferry for 2 weeks in Austria and the Dolomites in May/June.
Mousetrap junction is also the only road I’ve ever just point blank refused to drive down
Which one is that@@williamallis6627
@@stevesherlockrides the junction on the right you didn’t turn off at 9:39 in the video in Griezbeck. Narrow and steep like a drop off a cliff
Oh yes I know that one, will have to try it. I'm off to the dealer this morning for a QS and Blipper check as uts got a little notchy
What’s the cost difference between the two bikes? Reckon £10k?
When i bought mine they were within £2k of each other. I'm not sure what the most recent models are priced at sorry.
I rather have Superduke 1290gt✊🔥
Superadventure 1290 more comfortable and smoth , Superduke1290 gt more raw and agresive✊🔥🔥
100%
How is this on plastic painted panels?
Can you be more specific
Interested to hear your full view on this unit! Was just about to buy the Garmin for my PP but will wait to see your thoughts👍
I've had the garmin for a few years and whilst good I just found the process of using 3rd party gpx files and creating routes so complex. On the positive if you simply want to go for a to b then it's fine. I've decided to change to have better control of music and to use simpler sat nav such as Google maps and My Route App
@@stevesherlockrides Thanks for the feedback, it is food for thought! I might look more into the C6 Pro or the Chigee👍
For a road tester you should do more homework before you get on the bike so as you know all about the bike. Ducati have not bought out a S Version. Having in Spots mode around town is crazy (very Jerky in that mode)
Hi Steve, loving the videos. I know I've asked before but can't find your responses (typical) just wondering what program you use to edit your videos. My missus has bought me an insta360 for christmas and have an old gopro3. I want to start getting the videos good enough to show friends ! Thanks
Hi Gary, I'm.so sorry I haven't replied although I recall I may have, no problem though. I currently use iMovie to do the final edit but you have to use the Insta 360 software to first convert your 360 footage into the frames and sequence you want. Once ive done that just import my edited 360 footage into iMovie. If you don't use a MAC you will have to use a PC version. I would suggest Davinci Resolve as it works on both Mac and PC and I'm going to start using it. I hope this helps.
@stevesherlockrides thank you sir, your a gent! Keep the videos coming
@garyb1933 just finished ripping out my Innov and installed the Aoocci C6 Pro. Been a pain in the arse tbh lol
@stevesherlockrides I bet it will be worth it, looks a great bit of kit, especially for the cameras. I'm still a Garmin lover, never let me down yet. Think I'd struggle with MRA trying to learn a new system. Met a gent in Holland last year who loved it and wouldn't use anything else, great for on the fly rerouting 👍
@garyb1933 garmin is great when it works but I just felt to complex to load gpx files etc. I'm going to use MyRoute and soon to be released Calimoto. Also have a fall back of googke maps but that's more a point to.point sat nav without the Adventure combos etc
I have the DJI Mini 4 Pro (previously a hubsan 501ss (which was not the best drone, but got me flying)). some great places to fly as per th-cam.com/video/wzSqdE8yA1A/w-d-xo.html
Thanks will check it out
Do you get any vibration of the Zumo?
I don't no. I've actually just swapped the Zumo XT for an Aooci C6 Pro
@stevesherlockrides do you get any vibration of the Carplay unit then.
@descb600f don't know only just finished installing it. I use the evotech bracket so not expecting it to why?
@@stevesherlockrides I have the Iconic Parts one and find that vibrates. It connects to the sliding mechanism for the screen.
@descb600f I always recommend evotech as best quality
‼️‼️ Hooked ‼️‼️
Hello Steve, i just buy the bagage second hand, but i cant take it out the locker to change it for my key.... any idea?
I'm sorry I didn't take it out. It was a major effort to push the barrel in so it will need some force. Sorry I can't help better
How did you manage that 😱 I leave my keys in the cap!! 🏍️⛽️
Because I'm an idiot lol. I didnt leave my keys in the cap doh! Lesson learnt
Those foam fork protectors are not a great idea, once they get wet they hold the moisture and can rot the fork paint! BTW If you are after a media dash set up, I've just done a video on the Aoocci C9 Max, worth considering over the C6 😉
I assume you haven't had them as they are brilliant and zero issues whatsoever after a few years using them. The C9 isn't want as dimensions not for me
PPF looks mint Steve 👌 I wonder what the matt finish would look like as I have the Aviator Grey on my V4s .. I think your PP would look more complete with an Evotech tail tidy 😊 Thanks for braving the winter conditions and bringing us the content ... just need you to secure that Zumo rubber grommet that keeps flapping around your TFT 😊😊 it's playing havoc with my OCD 😅😅😅
Lol re the OCD!! Yes the matte would look so much better on yours. The TT is on my wish list also but don't tell the missus lol
So what have you done? Is it full akrapovic system with decat?
Yes full Akra system and remap from Ducati.
Is the problem actually KTM? Or is it the parent group that owns them, Husqvarna, GASGAS, etc?
It has to be the Board of KTM as the £300m loss is responsibility if the Board
My mate retirementville has one and takes it with us when we tour, gets some great footage and its easily, quick shared on our Samsung`s so i can include it in my videos. We went to Rivington to practise some shots then repeated the exercise in the Picos this year adds a great dimension to any video. Look forward to your progress..
Thanks yes hope to do the same
I have a question. Did you not like the built in sygic system or did you want the greater functionality. I find running sygic eats phone battery when using music and nav but like the ease of use of having it all in one.
Great video, I’ll be ordering some right away
That's a good shout, thanks for the feedback.
How comfortable is the seating position? I'm looking to buy a 1000cc Sport Bike, however I would prefer one that's more comfortable vs less comfortable.
I'm 6ft 1 inch and TBH the S1000RR was more comfortable
How is the heat generated from the bike riding in the city compared to the 2024 panigali .
I didn't think it was to bad but prolonged idling you did feel it
I heard that the machine on this bike is often overheated around the legs. Is that true?
I genuinely didn't feel it. However i own a Multistrada Pikes Peak V4 with the same engine and when stood still idling you do feel the warmth but it's not intense.
@stevesherlockrides I see. Many thanks.
If you think the brakes are "not great" try a Ho nda NC750X with a single disc, the Yam is so much better. All bikes with a chain need centre stands for chain maintenance, especially when on tour.
The moment you said your 59 years young I smashed that like button! Never too old to ride a machine like a Ducati! Cheers from Vegas! Great review!
That's made me 😃. Never to late mate !! Thanks for the like for the old boys with young hearts and minds
They did my GT and SAS. Highly recommended
Good luck with it. Just got one myself and not dared to take it out of the box yet.
The heart rate does increase a little
Nice, well done 👍🏼
Cheers bud
A very good first flight
To kind lol
That is rock solid in the wind, I'm impressed with how things have moved on from my mavic.
It's so light also and was really getting blown about in the gusts. Stabilisation software is impressive
Hi Steve! Wow, these shots are breathtaking! 🌄✨ DJI Mini 3 Pro truly shows its power - I love this drone! Flying it is also my passion, and it brings me so much joy. 🚁🎥 Congratulation :)
Thanks, I was so impressed with the quality of the footage even though the flight wasn't to spectacular. Looking forward to taking it on my many bike trips
Buddy good vid i heard you say you had some kind off tracker on your bike that was stolen sorry to hear that but which tracker
I've never had a bike stolen with a tracker since I've installed the Biketrack product my insurance is lower and I have total comfort re steal risk
A dealer near me has a 2017 GT with 3800 miles on it, bags, ROTTWEILER PAIR BLOCK OFF PLATES, ROTTWEILER FUELING DONGLES, ROTTWEILER THROTLE BODY VACUUM HOSES, ROTTWEILER EXHAUST SERVO DONGLE, GARMIN ZUMO GPS AND MOUNT, POWER BRONZE SPORT WINDSCREEN, MRA WINDSCREEN WITH SPOILER PANNIERS, and looks to have new GPR300 tires for $10,300 USD. Seems like a good deal. Once I sell my 23 MT09SP this week, I may go test ride it. I had a 14 SDR for a few months earlier this year and sold it to make money. That was the most comfortable riding position and suspension I've ridden in a long time. It just didn't have cruise or a quickshifter and really didn't like to turn quick enough when riding at a "fast" pace.
Is the 2017 a Gen 1 or Gen 2?
Still a gen 1 gt
My brother has the Gen 1 still and when he ride my Gen 2 he did say the suspension feels more plush on the Gen 2, other than that he loves the Gen 1.
@@stevesherlockrides I keep reading that KTM offers an electronic suspension software upgrade that updates them to the most current settings.
I've heard same also
Make video about MULTISTRADA so you can CONTINUE TALKING ABOUT IT. I GOT IT...NINJA IS NOT MULTISTRADA. MULTISTRADA IS A CRAP!!!!!
Check out my other videos as got the Multistrada V4S but have now upgraded to the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak. Thanks for the comment
10 min would have been much better.
I got carried away sorry 😞
You can remove the barrel in the same manner as you remove BMW barrels - no need to disassemble the cases.
Don't think you can
fix your audio mate, cheers!
It's OK if on your phone. I can't seem to work out how to get stereo.
@@stevesherlockrides What brand of kit do you have?
@elliottbailey2522 I use iMovie with Cardo packtalk
@@elliottbailey2522 what items?
@ your mic or ear jacks… sometimes you can search the brand and model online for troubleshooting tips
When you come to the alps in the summer it’s always like this in the high biking season, Austria Swiss , Germany , Dolomite’s it’s all infested with speed cameras, basically towns villages you just have to behave otherwise it’s going to repeat over and over again, to be fair I ride there very often cos I live in Bawaria , and I understand the locals cos the amount of motorcycles goes through these passes it’s insane in the high season Basically it’s much better to come mid June or mid September 🙌🏻👊🏻😁
Off to Montenegro and Croatia, dolomites etc next year, can't wait
You have been to my playground 🫶
Where about?
Those ugly wings are laughable, imaging putting down force on a motorcycle wheel during an extreme lean at 100+ mph, who needs slippery oil or gravel to cause a wipeout, now it is built into the fairing.
not sure it's generation 7, it's 18-19, 20-21, 22-24, 25+, so more like 4th gen V4.
No it is G7
Is it waterproof with heavy Rain
You know what I am really happy with it. The only issue is that the pockets are double pockets (1 zipped and 1 waterproof zipped) on each side. So a little wet can get in the non waterproof one.
The bike is for track end of story it's a pointless review tbh. Get it on the track
Interesting thought?
@@stevesherlockrides no disrespect to you mate just sick of these road reviews. It's a track bike end of the day and that's where it belongs.
then maybe stop wasting your time watching these? loads of track videos of it out there LOL.
TFT screen explaination if possible
The bike has gone back but am at the dealership regularly so will do soon for you
@ thanks for it. I am really excited for it. I also want to confirm that the heated grips option which used to come in previous panigale is it removed now? Because I can’t see it in accessories list in the Ducati configurator.
@soumyaprakashsahoo4120 no heated grips as standard
@ I think as an accessory also you can’t have right in this model. As they completely removed the button for that.
@@soumyaprakashsahoo4120 cruise control and heated grips are an optional extra.

Your actually the worst person to do a review seen u never rode a Ducati v 4 s before 😂
Rode the last version and like you set off an hips hurt, neck hurt etc etc nearly turned around and took it back! But was a cracking bike was settled on it, however took the previous street fighter V4 out and found that more comfortable for me and always said if I could have my perfect garage it would be a Multi and Street Fighter.
100% my choice also.
