I was a sportswriter for 20 years (ESPN, New York Times) and I struggled to find medical experts to explain injuries half as well and clearly as you do. You do an incredible service for fans looking for smart analysis of medical issues, and the way you turn around these videos so fast after the news is staggering. Bravo, Doc.
How come espn never had a sports doctor on call for their shows ?
Agreed 💯
Great job you have.
@@ryanmussell739it affects gambling probably
What a coincidence.
I WAS a sportswriter for ESPN for 15 years and I’ve never heard of you..
prayers to scottie man it was a great season for him. took a big leap n became an allstar for his team.
Prayers to both players !
Prayers for Scottie and Russ ...ones a legend and the other is on pace to be one !
Doc hadn't drank all his coffee yet when he made the first video! Appreciate the updated video doc.
The early ones know
It's wild when I read the report for WB last night but I didn't know Scottie's was pretty much the same. Appreciate the early morning update video Doctor!
Edited: looks like all the bots are awake too
lol you’re even super quick with the edits! Love it. Keep it up!
Now this OS what I call accountability. Keep it up Doc!
My two favorite players in the league and both out in one night
Gsw always injure opponents . But nobody says shit
Once Barnes went out, people saw how reliant they are on his creation and playmaking. TIME TO TANK BOYS
Weren't you tanking all season?
@@almac9203 raptors were trying not to 🤣
This draft class is weak and we need Scottie to get play-in/playoff experience. But now we have no choice haha
Prayers to Scottie and Westbrook🙏
I so appreciate your Work & in this instance, i 200% appreciate your honesty after committing a mistake. Thank You!
:)
Thats why Brian uploads the Video 200%
Jesus loves you all repent and come to Him today ❤✝️
Not sure if you feel like doing another video, but there was a play a bit earlier in the Toronto game where Barnes received a pass and then was wincing as he held the ball, shaking his hand. What happened in this incident seemed to compound the injury there. Thanks for your insight and passion for these topics, as always.
They mentioned Barnes in some pain during the broadcast, but they said it was his right hand (before this incident). Not sure if that's what you're talking about, but most likely.
so early it went private 😭😭
No worries doc. The other day I pumped $15 of gas but forgot to bring my wallet. Boy was I embarrassed. 😣😣😣
what did you do to remedy the situation?
where on earth do they let you pump before paying? It's prepay in every state in the U.S.
@@BirdPlan idk im from new jersey the wage slave usually does it for me🤷🏼♂️
And in Canada too. But there are other countries ya know lmao
@@BirdPlanalmost every gas station in Canada you can just start pumping. Why the extra hassle to be prepay ONLY.
Damn that Scotty one was brutal. It's a shame to see young guys get injuries.
Thanks Brian. Good vid.
Thx for fixing with update vid doc!
This channel is great! Great content
3:32 bro is a lyrical genius💀
I think you're allowed a "goof-up" Brian, considering the next-level content you provide steadily!
Insightful, thanks!
Great content as always. Not to worry about mistake. Stuff happens. Appreciate the honesty.
Mistake or not, you posted the initial diagnosis and correction before I knew about either of these injuries.
Love the deep dive - instant subscribe!
3:58 Haha He called the index finger 1st metacarpal just after he explained why it's the 2nd metacarpal, when talking about angles of breaks.
Respect for the correction
Most likely going to be a season-ender for Scottie which is a shame, but no point rushing back to a team not even in the play-in. Really hope for Russ that he isn't sidelined for too long! Thanks as always for a great explanation!
I think Barnes may have broke his hand before this play. If you go back and look at a previous play he seemed to have injured it then. It may have only been a hairline fracture and then consequently caused more damage in the play you have shown.
You’ll be on ESPN soon! Great job Doc!
"The long finger", I have never heard anyone say that over just middle finger lol
Damn I saw these today, I was wondering how this happened, thanks for the explanation
To those down here who saw the error, pointed it out and helped the doc out, we see you! Thanks for looking out for him.❤
You should do a video about Pacio vs Brooks 2 and the dangers of spiking the opponent's head.
3:08 makes sense it's the 3rd metacarpal that broke since you can see Barnes index finger made it past Green's shin bone. While the remaining 3 fingers get caught by the leg.
Don’t know much about these kind of breaks but I had boxer breaks. Hope the best and quick recovery for Scottie
Haha u said “shaft” a few times. Love ur vids doc!
Great video, again! Would love to hear your thoughts on Diakhaby injury vs Real Madrid (player from Valencia)
The voiceover for Scottie Barnes injury gon be wild ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Hard to find a doctor that cares .we found one that does 👍👍
I've been a social media commenter for 20 years (TH-cam, Tik Tok, Instagram, Reddit) and I struggled to find medical experts to explain injuries half as well and clearly as you do. You do an incredible service for fans looking for smart analysis of medical issues, and the way you turn around these videos so fast after the news is staggering. Bravo, Doc.
These should not be problematic injuries.
When we hear about ACL, Achilles tears and meniscal tears (like Embiid and Zion Williamson)-these are bad and really impact careers.
Same thing with foot fractures for big men, where the weight-bearing issue and chronic excessive forces are a big deal.
Regarding healing times on fractures in general-electric stimulation has been proven to decrease time to healing, but is often not offered to non-athletes because of cost (and initially paucity of efficacy evidence-which is changing) I expect healing times for expensive NBA talent to be lower than general population.
Hey doc great vid, I was wondering if you could explain to me a distal radius fracture/ growth plate fracture if you could? thanks
I was thinking the same it looked like westbrook jammed his fingers and barnes broke a finger or two idk great video like always Doc
It takes maturity to admit when one makes a mistake. Video liked 👍🏿
Sir, can you do an explanation of dupuytrens contracture in the future. Thank you.
I'm just gonna squeeze in a comment in the sea of bots.
sooo many bots
Jamming your finger on a basketball is pain you don’t wanna feel, especially if it’s your shooting hand 😂
Ouch😮💨
Brian please answer this important sports medicine question. What happens back in cave man days if you have a full achilles rupture? Would it hurt forever? Would your muscle die? Would it get infected?
Would eventually scar in but probably so poorly that you’d have a significant limp and be unable to run or walk far.
@@BrianSuttererMDis it possible to have a small tear and still be able to play sports? I messed up my Achilles in some way when I was young and it’s never been the same, chronically sore and pretty stiff. Idk what I did to it
Mea Culpa. I love it.
Hope Russ and Scottie are ok and get a fast recovery 😢
I swear he gets the nba injury script ahead of time every year
There's really a big difference when you haven't finished your coffee.
Ohhh yea. It’s also been a while since I made a video, so this one was more rushed and ‘just get one up’ than usual :/. Glad everyone pointed out the mistake
Talk about the injury of valencia’s player against real madrid
ouch , I actually have really bad arthritis in my mcp joints ( my mom has RA ) so gotta see a dr about it soon, but for some reason I reverted to 12 year old me when you showed the “head” of the bones , i can see where it comes from … lol
5:10 Gary Vitti and Kobe have entered the chat 🤣🫵🏾🐍
My Glorious KING RUSS 😢
Please analyze the Diakhaby injury from Madrid vs Valencia last night
I'm wondering if this is more of a ligamentous avulsion at the head. I can't wrap my head around forced causing a pure metacarpal fx here in SBs case.
What a weird injury for Scottie Barnes
Looks like the left hand for both. Can they both practice shooting during their recovery, using their left hand in a cast to help position/guide the ball?
I didn't even notice that at the game last night with Scottie Barnes I seen he left the game early and never came back but dam that looks painful
Both on my fantasy team😢SO TUFF
So sad as a raptors fan
3:32 "as a general rule of thumb" 👀😆
Hey I'm going to see the clippers are on March 22nd, any chance russ is back for that game ?
I feel his pain having surgery on my 5th metacarpal next Wednesday
Scottie is so fun to watch but extremely unpleasant to look at when he’s in pain
lol @ me having that Flint Tropic's jersey.
Me and Scottie rode the short bus to school together
I was on the same bus with you both
3:32 nice pun 👍
What’s your analysis on Booker’s ankle sprain last night. It was bit of a weird one.
Could we get a breakdown of Mouctar Diakhabys horribel leg injury against Real Madrid?
do you think running in general is bad for your knees or feet or anything?
Barnes' didn't look bad, and Westbrooks' looked even less traumatic. Should have limbered up before "hand."
Scotty Barnes had no chance of blocking that but he already made the decision to jump and try before the shot was made. If the golden state player decided to do a fake and reverse layup then he would have had a good chance to block it. People can’t make decisions that quickly and we only have the benefit of slow motion replay.
Does consistent boxing actually make your metacarpals denser the same way jumping or running makes your tibias and femurs denser?
Probably going to be a new epidemic going around all the players...from all the signatures needed requesting "time off due to an undisclosed injury".
It looked like Scottie was holding that hand and examining it earlier in the game too, I wonder if it was telated
If you ever broke your hand you know that shit is some unbearable pain well wishes to them
I swear scotties head looks like its on the wrong body 😂
Hope Russell Westbrook have speedy recovery.
As for Scottie Barnes, that is karma for mocking Mikal Bridges' celebrations the other day.
Plz make a video of Mikhail Sergachev
Counting on this to know whats going on the westbrook
Aw hell
Reportedly successful surgery. How many weeks for a prof athletes with top grade rehab to have recovery
As a general rule of... first metacarpal 😏
No way ☹️
Teams that fought the warriors got injured 😅
0:20 oh so you’re telling me you’re actually human? We all make mistakes
Scottie's injury was so bizarre. Freak accident.
Yesterday got out of hand hahahahahahahand
Don't people call it the middle finger?
NO MORE AUTISM ALLEGATIONS. Biggest lost of the season coming from a Sixers fan who lost Embiid 😭
Watch Scottie come back a better three shooter. I mean he is going to have to relearn a few things why not doing it during the recovery process.
You reach Brian teach
Don't trip man, that Barnes break was some Tv hocus pocus 😂
I feel like Westbrook breaking his hand could possibly make him a better shooter 🤣
At least its both left hands
Why aren’t you on espn more
ESPN has to bring the brinks truck to afford doc
This is why you don't see many real fights in the NBA anymore, just fyi. Just looootttsss of posturing and fake "hhhoollld me baacckkk!" Moments. It's because these guys get paid tens and even HUNDREDS of millions to play a sport with their hands. And to punch something (especially another dense bone, like a skull) with said hand is incredibly stupid.
That sucks
Since you pointed it out I will to.... You fucked up the first video doc wtf !! Lol
Haha, yes I certainly did
scottie stat pad barnes
