I hope hes alright. He just made his dream come true.
It’s overrrr
He ain’t going back, he’ll be making reaction videos here soon.
Destroying his back
His fault. Dont feel bad
@@zanmolecules4105 show some humanity. It clearly wasnt a smart decision but you don't even feel bad?
That is scary as sht for real. Bones ligaments tendons that all can heal with time but the neck or anything to do with the spine that goes from a football injury to catastrophe real quick.
🙏 up for Dee man is awesome has worked so hard to get a chance. God Bless the dude.
Really unfortunate, at least he seemed in good spirits.
The neck and spine have bones tendons and ligaments lol
@@actual_random Nerves is what they were looking for lol
Bro it’s crazy how quick you are on these😂
No kidding
He's literally at his setup pissing in a bottle, waiting for an injury. 😂
he gives crazy work
He has it down to a science, pun intended
I mean, he probably doesn’t even need a script and just does it as soon as he finds out. As a doctor he probably has to explain and diagnose shit like this on the spot all the time
Man, i got to meet him at a gym last summer. He couldn't have been a nicer dude. Sucks this happened.
I broke my neck in high school on a kickoff return, and now I'm paralyzed. These things are why the NFL kick rule change is so important!!
Bless you my friend
@@eviltomthai shouldve never signed up tbf thats why they make you sign a waiver.
@@lilsstrunks some people play for the passion and don’t care about the injuries.
Paralyzed but still typing
@@COASYKCUAS His pfp is literally him in a wheelchair, doofus. He didn’t say he was a quadriplegic
Thats why they teach head up when wrapping up
Kickers don’t practice tackling lol
Kickers are a supposed to be in the very back but he went up to tackle and well…
The problem is smaller guys aren’t strong enough to tackle so they either have to risk their health with a spear tackle or do a hip drop tackle for a 15 yard penalty.
@@ryanzand7549nah...he just don't know how to tackle at ALL. There are lots of smaller technical tacklers in the world.
He’s a kicker he shouldn’t be tackling a ball carrier only pushing to the sidelines
Doc is right. I used to drop my head when I tackled and I'm still paying for it at 50 years old.
Im saddened to hear this. Had real hopes for him to make it.
I know he’s a kicker, but if he played throughout his childhood he had to have played other positions and was taught form tackling. You never ever lead with the top of your head into contact. Old school form tackling was if you lead with your head you put your facemask right into their gut and wrap their legs with your arms. They’ve gone away with teaching to lead with your head at all, but if you’re going to you never put your head down as you go into contact. He’s lucky he didn’t get paralyzed.
He definitely played his whole life…I’d imagine. I think his problem was he hasn’t played live football at this level in a while, maybe his instinct was all there yet
first thing I was taught 25 years ago was to wrap with out leading with my head, that if you lead with your head you, can wind up dead was what they preached....
Being a kicker in a pro league doesn't guarantee he ever played at a position that learned proper tackling.
Idk his history, but a lot of kickers have come from soccer.
Weird example, because he can tackle like a beast, but I don't think Pat McAfee played as much other than a kicker in football when he was younger, dude came mostly from soccer growing up. It also helps that McAfee is 233lbs and D is 173lbs at a similar height as well tho, easier to tackle better when you're much bigger than the one you're tackling.
@@codyb.3015 kinda true cuz D’ played Wr but still tackling form should but taught to everyone because is the main thing that’s done in football. We and a still need to know how to tackle properly… and size does play a role, that’s why smaller corners and DB dive for your legs instead of wrestling a bigger guy down.
Idk I think he just underestimated that dudes real speed and didn't think his head would hit him head on... I could be really wrong tho
Damn I never thought I'd see the bro on your channel damn man.
I just want to let you know that I am at EMT and I love watching your videos and keeps my mind. Very refresh especially when I’m doing sporting events.
As an EMT can you explain how he walked off the field?
There is appear to be no damage to his T6 column of his spine
Lucky he wasn’t paralyzed, or his spinal cord wasn’t tweaked, neck injuries are one of the most serious injuries you could ever sustain.
Facts!
Can confirm (C5 SCI here lol)
Thanks captain obvious 🫡
@@CoolestKidOnTheShortBus thanks for being an unnecessary douchebag on the internet for no reason, little man syndrome much?🫡
Reminds me of that guy from Florida, I think. He missiled the tackle and is now paralyzed 😥
This is why most punters and kickers avoid tackling!
I just know he was trying to prove a point with that tackle that he’s more than just a kicker by showing his athleticism with that tackle 😓 Wishing the bro a speedy recovery 🙏🏾
He get paid to kick not tackle
Unfortunate for the dude, wishing him a speedy recovery🙏
At least he has his media platform to fall back on👌
As a kicker he miscalculated the angle and found himself driving his left shoulder from the side instead of right shoulder from a front angle forcing the runners momentum through his head to the eventual right shoulder take down.
Great detailed input for Football Players, and overall body and health enthusiasts (as we all should be), awesome content!
I really hope Dee heals up well and quick, man deserves to stay as a pro player for many years, he has earn this spot after it being taken as it was from the NCAA.
I was taught heads up tackling when I was in Jr Highschool all the way back in the late 70's to early 80's. It's been around for quite sometime.
Same… in the late 80s to 90s for me. And we were told to do it exactly for this reason.
I have a processing disorder and find it hard to learn but found it really easy to learn things from this video because of the way this guy explains it.
Ive been watching Destroyin vids for a long time hoping this young man would get a shot as a pro !
Prayers out 🙏 for your fast and full recovery brother !
When you get back, let the other guys do the tackling ! At most give em a shoulder. Kickers are protected for a reason.
Freshmen high school football coach made us stand in line day one with helmets in hand and read the little sticker on the back. Always look at what you're hitting.
He’s a kicker… they’re not taught that.
@@tyreek.6815it’s still common sense to know how to tackle bro , regardless of what rebuttal you come up with. If he’s been playing football his whole life (which he has) tackling should b second nature by know regardless of position
Really unfortunate for Dee, just made his dream come true and was doing pretty well too. Hope for a clean and fast recovery so he can get back out there
Next Year
no he won't, he said it was his end career of football
Shouldn’t have went in for the tackle. He had other defenders to help with that.Kickers don’t want any part of that
Been a minute since I've seen a Deestroying vid. Man, that's a tough one. Speedy recovery for him 🤦🏾♂
As a football parent, I now see why they always taught our kids to tackle with head up. This is too bad this happened and it's one of our greatest fears. Hopefully he will have a full recovery.
This video was amazing. I feel like I can actually learn from listening to you! Liked and subscribed.
Hopefully he’s going to recover but damn, his form was horrendous
i broke my neck 8 vertebrae cervical through thoriadic car accident , got my spine fusion surgery and honestly 7 years later i am bodybuilding stronger then ever can play any sport feel perfect cant turn my head all the way to the right by like quarter of an inch its nothing i broke c2 - like t3 i believe
also i got very lucky my spinal cord was not hurt at all
What he did wrong:
Poor pursuit angle.
Lowers his head.
Tackles the inside hip instead of getting head across.
Launches instead of planting, wrapping, and driving through.
What he did wrong was showed up to play after goofing off the past 5 years and let's not forget to skip Incline Bench, Push Press, Power Clean, and Split Jerks
Thanks for the video.
It's sad that no one has taught him how to tackle. Reminds me of the shazier tackle. Always keep your head up!
Awesome video! Thanks!
Would love to see something using the anatomy tool about the stress put on pitchers' elbows and why UCL sprains are such a big deal.
Said as a sad Braves fan.
Bro messed up his hitstick
Nah that’s crazy 😭😭
Damn lol that was a good one. Though yeah hope the guy makes a good recovery. Good breakdown
Hate to see it. Wish him a full recovery and lesson learned. Keep your head up! (literally and figuratively) Also nice job by the Doc as always.
I remember seeing that tackle on social media and everyone was saying how bad his technique was on that tackle. Sad to see that he suffered a serious injury.
I had to pause and think, is he tackling his teammate?! The uniforms are too similar. I do hope he makes a recovery.
Oh nooooo😮 😢I wanted to see him play so bad for years now, finally he got the chance and this happens, GOD BLESS your recovery soldier ❤
Maybe him being an influencer will shed light on folks bringing back the lost art of TACKLING!!!
Playing football with pads is different than running around on social media.
Hope he recovers quick.
you should do one since he got the update (no surgery, 2 fx and rupture of anterior ligaments, 3 months immobilization) wouldn't mind your take on the full situation that he goes through in his video that he release on it.
Dream accomplished, dream Deestroyed in seconds... who taught this guy how to tackle.. you never lead with your head
Its just crazy this dude broke his neck to stop him from getting like an extra 4 yards
It just comes to show just because you played football in highschool/ college doesnt mean you can get up and jump in full contact pads without practicing and preparing for a game
Great video
damn bro this is just unfortunate and im really saddened for him
Oh no, I’m so sad that he suffered the injury but glad he’s still alive
I fractured my C1 in a car accident about a year ago, Thank God no surgery was required and I only had to wear a neck collar for 12 weeks and it healed up nicely, I believe I may still have some straightening though.
Can’t make it professionally if you can’t follow the fundamentals. Dude should’ve protected his head when going in for that tackle. With that said, this is the nature of this contact sport. So many injuries suffered by even the greats. I’m sorry to hear he’s now gonna have to recover before even considering returning to the game. Poor dude, making it was his dream.
Always wondered what it would be like to sneeze in one of these things, I mean I have fairly violent sneezes at time, and neck brace or not I can imagine things rattling around in there from it.
Ya I agree like they teach this at all levels from peewee and up
It’s just dumb.
Like tackling should not even be something you think about just an instinct from years and years of practice.
Me just as someone who played up through high school like this kind of thing is so drilled into me I can guarantee that even if my tackling sucks having been so long I wouldn’t put my head down
DAMN!! I WATCH HIS VIDEOS SOMETIMES!! HOPE HE'S NOT PARALYZED!!🙏🏿
I suffered from what I was told was a Shovelers Fracture. Which I guess as you called it a fracture of the spinous process. Doctors never really explained what that was to me tho.
Sad to hear this. He worked so hard to get there.
Head across the body! Day 1 tackling instruction from pee wee football. I hope you heal well brother!
It sucks to hear that. You kind of see why pro teams wouldn't give him a chance. They've been teaching heads up tackling for a LONG time now and this looked like a complete newbie trying to tackle someone.
The Doctor will see me now
His video updates on the specific fracture type, the location, and time frame for healing!
I played football for 13 years, 2 years as a D1 halfback, and have since been coaching at the high school level.
With this particular hit it’s pretty clear that the big issue isn’t that he lowered his head(which is wrong form), but rather the placement of his head(which is also wrong). His head should’ve been across the body, on the ball-side, instead his head was placed off-ball not across the ball carrier’s body. Had he put his head out in front, across the body of the ball carrier, then he would’ve have injured himself no matter how far up or down his head was.
The “spear tackling” topic always irks me because it’s just so lacking in context. The head placement matters SO much more than the degree of curvature of the neck.
Nfl players get away with that head drop constantly. Running backs and recievers all game and no one ever says anything. More attention needs to be brought to it.
Destroying just uploaded a video and the Dr in it talks a little more about his injury. Anyway you can do another video on this?
No one was allowed to go full pads at my school until they got form tackling down. Kickers, 4th stringers, everyone
Bruh i feel so bad for him..i enjoyed watching his journey on here
I know he just reached his dream, but he should call it while he’s ahead. Dude makes enough money with what he does on TH-cam
Wow. I just saw the clip and was thinking he effed up with the tackle. Actually looked like he went limp as well. Very unfortunate. Career is probably over. If he does get back on the field, i hope hes more careful.
Whole time I was looking at the ball carrier thinking that was destroying
This dude is great!
Exactly why my son will never play sometime kick run ball.
It has been taught for a very long time that you do not lead with your head while making a tackle, he may have not received the message.
Improper tackling technique while leading with his neck...In addition...he has a longer than average neck base which increases the chance of injury when tackling improperly...Good bless the young and and prayers for his speedy recovery...
That's what happens when you don't play real football for 5 years. You forget the basics.
Never knew how scary of those bones really are at this point when looking at this 3D graphics.
He has a lamina fracture at C5, ligament damage and disk herniation at C5/C6.
Is there a study on neck injuries that leads to heart attack or stroke? I had a teammate in college whose cousin had a stroke from a tackle similar to this.
Omg I am so sad. I just watched his last upload and now I'm finding out that he's OUT???
damn bro , i hope he recovers well. at least if bro does have an injury he got shit to fall back on, established nfl players don’t even have that
Here is what happened. He tackled like he was at one of his events. Text book--head down--now wear a neck brace.
The way his neck moved remind me of blitz the league 😞
🙏🏾 to DEE man, wowww
We need that Giannis injury video please 🙏
They teach head up tackling at the pop warner level. I also believe these pro football leagues don't teach proper tackling anymore because everyone is too "busy" and assuming pros know proper tackling.
He should have just stayed an influencer.
Man did a Jason Street tackle lol
His body in general just wasn't prepared for full contact. I admire his for chasing his dream and seeing it through. Sadly he got a rough wakeup call
Yup, he should have kept his head up but these injuries are going to happen in football. 22 large bodies colliding with each other where in order to make a play you have to meet the other player square on you can't just side step and grab them with your arm. Your head is in the center of your body so naturally heads will collide or also there will be times when you don't have reaction time to use perfect form.
Hope he comes back it’s always when you’re doing well you get injured:(
I honestly just feel like he wasn't trained or experienced enough and his gumption to do great got ahead of him. This injury is what you'd expect. Hope be recovers and comes back
This man cant get no luck. Prayers to my man dee.
Here's the video from Deestroying's TH-cam channel. At around the 16 minute mark he is meeting with the spine specialist and describes the injury and treatment. Dr. Brian is so good and analyzing just by looking at the video!

I did think his post suggested he might not play again. Only because he thanked the team and organization for the opportunity. Like it was over 🤷🏾♂️. Kind of weird wording if he thinks he’s coming back. I hope he’s able to get back on the field again and I know he’ll receive the proper corrective training to improve his form. I hate that this happened but at the same time I’m glad the young kids who follow him see the importance of proper tackling and see that their coaches aren’t just making up stuff but really trying to protect them. I do remember in high school not really thinking it was that big of a deal. But Ryan Shazier opened my eyes. I’m sure this did the same for this generations young football players. This could have been much worse.
Is this a joke?
@@hrose756 most people use “lol” or “😂” to indicate a joke. I did not use any so I’d assume it is not a joke 🤷🏾♂️
We called it out as soon ass we seen da short da otha day...
First heard of this through a "Doctor Reacts" video..
Man, I’m just now finding out about this! It sounds like he will recover in time, but I wonder if he wants to continue playing football. I say that for two reasons. One, he’s already financially set with his TH-cam and social media and two it’s a neck injury. That about as serious as it gets. If he does come back, he should stay away from trying to prove he can hit. Just grab the guy to slow him down strip the ball if nothing else.
same thing happened to me in HS...was called a spinal concussion with chipped vertebrae...facemask tackles are a no no.
since playing jr pee wee wayyyyyy back😂😂😂 my coach always told me to never lead with your head. it doesn't matter how strong of a head or neck you have, you wrap up. head to the side unless you wanna be paralyzed for the rest of your life
Why do people tackle like that, when you keep your head up you hit harder and stay safe
He's a kicker so he's probably not properly trained on how to tackle.
I mean, what do you expect from a TH-camr
@@wchops7578He might be more known as a TH-camr but he was a D1 player... Idk why he thought he could "play" defense tackling on the kick off but here is the result.
@@KinGxSTuDxbecause he’s giving it 100%. Not smart much are you?
@@KinGxSTuDx I went to college with him…but that was like 6 years ago. He’s a TH-camr
Your facemask and shoulder pads are supposed yo make contact with the defenders waist then you wrap up and bring down. You can tackle what you cant see
Could he have a delayed spinal injury? Like days, weeks later?
Yeah, it’s kind of creepy. this dude waits for people to get injured. He did one on Greenlaw before overtime even started in the bowl game…😂
He'll be back next season better than ever!
