A nice 'Old Man Geralt' character arc. A little like Logan, let's see him get hopped up on potions and still be destroying monsters before a glorious ending
Definitely would be cool to interact with Geralt as an up and coming witcher. Be even cooler if the game could read your save data and he appears as he does in your game.
I always thought it would be awesome to play as Letho for a few games and begin to rebuild the school of the viper. I just like that idea while Geralt plays a role to help where he can. However, with them creating a brand new school and branch and new Witcher (I assume), we could be doing just that except instead of Letho we have the new Witcher. I would like that. A post war view of (hopefully) the southern regions and Nilf and a younger Witcher doing Witcher things while helping to build up the Witcher house(s).
I hope it’s not ciri, i mean she is not a witcher to begin with, a random witcher from the school of the lynx and we meet geralt in toussaint and he helps us in some quest and we move on
It obviously is, I don't think it takes much of a leap to get there. It's the obvious answer they've been hinting at and it's not one I'm happy about either. Her character isn't one I was ever particularly fond of (the game version).
I rush through the Ciri parts of W3 asap every time. If it’s a whole game where you have to play as her I’m out. I’d rather they go a create a character route and have male/female voice actors for each 🤷♂️
I like Ciri, she's a fun character and definitely central to the entire Witcher saga. However, at the end of TW3 she is simply too OP. She has finished her arc (in one way or another) and most importantly mastered the elder blood. She could play a role as say head of the lynx school (assuming there's some kind of second conjunction and witchers are needed again). Maybe the game starts with her for only a short section, OP contract fun and setting up the school, then moves onto the main protagonist: a proper mutated school of the lynx Witcher.

He definitely will if the narrative takes a more 'witchers are needed again so we made more' type of thing. He's a Witcher with Grandmaster level skills in everything and has a legendary reputation throughout the continent
But imo that would be against what Geralt wants/prefers. Next trilogy would be easier if set in the past ( more witchers, more monsters ), maybe we meet younger Geralt.
@@GamerInside270 In the Continent, as we all have seen and played through, the opinions of Witchers are only important in matters of close quarters combat and mobster hunting. The kings and emperors won't care what a mutant wants, only what they want to achieve.

More than likely, he'll fill some advisory or a teaching role like Vesemir. As for the lazy writing comment, I don't think so. By the end of W3, Ciri/Avallach caused a temporary, albeit fairly widespread, conjunction of spheres that brought more monsters into the world. That could be used as some kind of way to explain the emergence of entirely new, maybe even very powerful monsters that slipped through the openings between worlds. Giving the need for more Witchers and reverse engineering the biomancy that made them whole new life. If not, then they could create a whole new batch of warriors instead. I would call that a good plot to go on, if nothing else.
*After 10 years without Geralt (and maybe 13 by the time it comes out) I would not even mind if Geralt appeared as a major central role to it, honestly* (Yes, the trilogy did an amazing job for his story, but still, it has been long ago, it is not like Ubisoft for example which milks Assassin's Creed over and over until people get bored)

To me the most obvious set up is Kovir where the Mages fled. Triss will be there and as the snow in the Lynx trailer suggest, that this school is in the north - Kovir or Povis. The school might be somewhat forgotten or distant or unknown to the people from the other kingdoms. I bet Triss will be a main figure in this and in some way she will lead our character to Geralt for help or other reason. There the story might snowball into Ciri.
I could imagine Siri to be the founder of the order of the lynx, perhaps with the help of Yennefer. We were told that the creation of witchers stopped for lack of elder blood, which Siri has. Also Yennefer seems to know a lot about the process and she is immortal, so the whole setting could take place long after W3. This could induce a conflict with Geralt, him being against the whole idea. So there would have to be a serious threat to justify such a drastic measure, perhaps a new conjunction.
All those options are good ideas however I think that my favourite would definitely be after the events of the Witcher 3, if he were to briefly appear in passing I think that would be a great addition for whatever does happen in the next game. I don't think I would mind him appearing as he is a huge part of the story till this point so it would be nice to have a somewhat passing of the torch kind of vibe to whoever will be the next focus for the games (going blind here till they release more information of course) I do hope that however the appearance happens that it will respect the story they have created till now~ Thank you for the video! Really looking forward to the next game whenever it will be released~
My dream is that we creat our own witcher and our witcher meets gerat while hunting. I mean in cyberpunk we create our character and they did a really great job with that so they have the experience with character creation. The problem I have with ciri as the protagonist is that A : she is overpowered and B: I wanna play a real witcher in a witcher 4 game with the mutations and everything

It would be amazing if importing a Witcher 3 save would affect the way Geralt appears in the coming game, if it were to be set in the future. I.e. if you end up with Yennefer and stay at Corvo Biancho, the new protagonist could meet him there. Or if he decided to continue on the path, you encounter him in an inn as mentioned in the video.
the thing that would be awesome to me would be that the school of the lynx is actualy just a nascent thing, like Eskel and some cat's school witchers and mages under the orders of empress Ciri wanting to found a new school and somehow your character is the one that goes to corvo bianco trying to recruit "old man" Geralt to be the "new Vesemi" of that school could be awesome
Would be cool if we played as a new Witcher, he would be the first Witcher created in a very long time and could stand to be interesting to see this Witcher be the first in the “school of the lynx” maybe the one who founds it. That way he could seek out Geralt and Maybe even lambert or eskell to learn different skills from each of them.
Remember he still Witchering stuff 100 years later when he saves kid Nimue in Season of Storms. I think a shorter version of Heros Shade from Twlight Princess. He teaches you something.
I like the story of a new witcher character parallel to Geralt's trilogy of games. How do those geopolitical events effect some other part of the continent. The obvious place being Kovir, mentioned in the games and books. Refugees fleeing north etc, with some reason to visit south and run into Geralt.
cool thing would be to go back to the golden era for witchers, when there's so many of them, we as players could create our own witcher, choose school and role play however we want. Also, not being a savior but just another cog in the world, participating in small yet interesting stories. Not every major story has to be "universe is at stake".
Honestly, what I really see happening is exactly what happened at the end of Season of Storms, where this white-haired witcher appeared through time hunting the new monsters in that book. If he does show up, it'll be a cameo like that. Also, if Geralt isn't the main character in the next book (which he could still totally be considering he keeps hunting as mentioned in SoS), I'd only accept a create your own character thing. I'd never accept Ciri as a main character.
i think that if ciri is indeed the main character you couldn't just have geralt somewhere in the background as a less important npc, he would be core player in her story no matter if he's retired in corvo bianco, whether they had close relationship or whether ciri hates him and wants nothing to do with him - either way there's a lot of history and emotions there and i don't think that would be good to just brush it to the sidelines. not to mention i think it would really change ciri as a character whether her most important father figure stuck up to her or betrayed her. so overall while i wouldn't mind ciri being the main character, the more i think, the more i realize it would mean geralt's story is not finished after all (like yk, i couldn't just sit still in a vineyard while my daughter is having some big stuff going on with her), and excluding him from it would really feel forced. the more i think of it, the more i would rather gave geralt, ciri or both as side characters to a story of another witcher/witchers.

In all honesty I wouldn't mind another Witcher game in the near future with big mmo aspects such as choosing a school, weapons, skills trees and etc jus seems like a cool idea tbh
My theory is that Ciri (and maybe geralt) start a new witcher school, and we play as an up and coming witcher who we get to customise, cyberpunk style. So voiced character with a story, but we get to change how he/she looks.
I don't know why I never considered it could be a prequel or in-between game. We had plenty of entries in other franchises like that and they work fine. There's plenty of room for that, even before the very first story Geralt had already been on the path for years, he could be a very inexperienced young witcher and that would explain him not being center stange
Firstly, if Ciri were to be the main protagonist there would be no Witcher Potions or decoctions, or any Witcher skills or mutations and no places of power. So no, she can't realistically be the main character in the next Witcher role playing "game". I think Geralt will have a small cameo role as a very young Witcher who crosses your path at some point, in a similar way to how they handled Letho in W3, but without the member berries. I really do believe that it will be a "create your own Witcher" scenario but with a preset name, very similar to how CDPR did it in Cyberpunk. You select a background and appearance with strengths, tendencies, etc. I also think it should take place just after the conjunction of the spheres. Perhaps it could even follow you through the trial of the grasses. You could even have a mentor you journey with for a time who comes to a tragic end somehow, and that makes you seek out ways to further enhance your skills and mutations. There might also be several other unheard of Witcher Schools that were mostly destroyed during those early days of mayhem and terror. Who knows anything at this point, but I have faith that CDPR will deliver something great.
If he just appears during a quest such as how Lamberts quest started it would be good. Take on a contract and Geralt is also doing it too so you work together once you met him and turn it in, split the coin and part ways never to see him again. Take contract, questgiver says there's another Witcher doing it, go to first ;location and find Geralt inspecting clues, introductions and agree to do the contract together, do it, then turn it in and say the goodbyes is all that's needed for an Easter egg. No need for explanations, no need for timeline fitting, just a contract with a tough monster. As for flashbacks... I hope CDPR stops doing the playable flashbacks, they are worse than unskipable cutscenes.
Well some things to note: The anniversary video implies some things regarding Geralt's canonical ending in witcher 3. But first let me settle the matter of whether that video is cannon or not. My first argument is that it is, as all the people in that trailer can be alive in the same playthrough, implying that that's the playthrough Geralt truly retired into, and wanted to thank the player base for. Two CDPR choose to show us that as his retirement rather than some other variation where some of those characters are missing or dead. Here is what the anniversary video shows us: Geralt is retired in Toussaint, most likely with Yennefer. Meaning Triss is likely Kovir. Dandelion & Zoltan are alive and around. Same goes for Shani and so on... Ciri is around in some form and on good terms with him. Geralt also mentions helping the guys with their contracts on occasion during the anniversary video. I am interpreting this as him on occasion going out to hunt a monster, whilst being semi retired. All this means two things mostly. One, he has friends in a lot of places, so its easy from a story perspective to place him at a spot where the player character in the next game could meet him without it feeling forced. Two, Geralt still hunts monsters on occasion so he is probably still the greatest witcher there is, and could be a mentor figure, or just someone you meet while on the path.
On another note, I am willing to bet the next game will be a sequel or sidequel, since I doubt that CDPR will retcon in a new witcher school at this time, and so I am guessing the new Witcher school of the Lynx, is in fact new to witcher world and not somehow forgotten. Meaning we are likely starting the next story sometime after witcher 3. As an aside, Witcher 3 ended on a minor conjunction of spheres, meaning we may have a whole new flood of monsters, potentially raising the demands for witchers once more. Justifying a new school being formed.
I honestly hope that they use Geralt as a narrator of the story rather than you actually meeting him. Or I guess you could meet him briefly if he is still alive. Larian games are a good example. DOS2 and BG3 both have narrators - if they can work that into The Witcher 4 somehow that would be sick.
I would really want the vampires back, master mirror back, the lodge back. Perhaps the Witcher trio. I need to know more about what happens to detlaff. Also conjunction of spheres lore.
There's one trap door that allows Ciri to lead a double life: the "false Ciri." Yes, it's rumored that she died, but "we never saw the body." Ciri can have her doppelganger playing Empress when she's out doing Witcher stuff. You can have Ciri founding a new school of the Witcher, and this is how Geralt makes a cameo. I think the protagonist will be someone you build from the ground up, and the unique thing about the Lynx school will be that it takes Witchers from all races and genders. Now you can play as a female dwarf, for instance. And maybe the mutations aren't as powerful as what made Geralt. This is your in-universe explanation for why you start as a whelp. Anyway, those are my thoughts.
"This far into production". Oh my sweet summer child, they're just starting production. Pre-production is a sort of feasibility study. They'll now be putting the teams together, setting up production pipelines. If you're playing the game in 6 years time it'll be early.
I suspect it will be set in the past. I think we will play someone who will take revenge for his murdered school (in this case Lynx), that would be awesome.
I love Geralt, but I don't know how I feel about this news. It just doesn't make sense having a new witcher school when a main theme of Geralt's trilogy was witchers being a dying breed. Since this is going to be around the time of Geralt, I feel like CDPR is just going to restrict themselves just for the sake of a Geralt cameo.
The thing is, Geralt pulls the Witcher. I don't think Ciri or anyone else could capture such a big audience like Geralt and will not be such success either without him/having small role.
I think Geralt could easily just be a narator in the beginning of the game setting up the plot and the game itself could take place far before or after Geralt, so Geralt "being in the game" does not give us a lot of information.
CDPR can do what they deem necessary to construct a narrative and I'll likely be fine with it, but I do hope Geralt stays semiretired and he's appearing for training and a handful of fights, not "the vineyard burned down and the Emperor's trying to kill me, guess I'm back on the Path" or whatever. Similarly, I love Ciri, but I hope they don't hang the franchise on her shoulders, and whatever other people's preferences I liked the Empress ending. Hopefully they'll ease us into more characters that can take the focus going forward. Maybe she's asserting herself and throwing imperial support behind a renewal of the Witchers with some adjustment recruitment criteria and enhancements- think SPARTAN-IVs, maintaining a moral quandary since they'll be less individually capable and die more but hey, at least it's not sacrificing tons of kids.
The Game will likely to be released 5-6 years from now , hell maybe even a bit longer, and its likely kinda same with Valhalla with Kassasndra showing up, Although I would like to be if its within the witcher games not a continuation .
Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is one of the best games I've ever played. It's right up there with the first few final fantasy games. With that said if the next installment in the franchise has Ciri as the protagonist. I won't be buying nor playing the game.
Geralt as a cameo while you are passing through Toussaint would be neat, but nothing more. He earned his retirement, let him rest as his story is over. His next great achievement should be him dying in his own bed unlike any witcher before him. As for Ciri I don't think she should be the protagonist as her endings vary too much and she is OP. Personally, I would love to play as Eskel. He is a developed character that is enough of a blank slate for growth and plenty of writing possibilities. Plus they set him up nicely in Witcher 3 as he leaves Kaer Morhen to pursue his own path.
My preference would be Game set in past, more rich world ( more witchers, monsters ). We meet young Geralt ( if Geralt is in game ). This way legacy of Witcher is intact. A pre built character ( no custom character ) with established backstory. Helps in much better world building.
I stand with you on this one. I can't stand her character. 😒 Plus, Witchers are male, as well as there were too many (possible) endings to the Witcher 3. I, for one, don't believe she will be used, and if I'm wrong, that's one sale they won't receive, and I guarantee many others will follow.
My prediction is that Witcher 4 will take place after Witcher 3. I think that given the "conjunction of spheres" that happens in finale of Witcher 3 while Ciri Avallac'h open the portal has let in a bunch of new monsters, and there is a need for new witchers. My guess is that maybe Eskel, Triss, and maybe Geralt himself will work to create more witchers and potentially Triss works to create female witchers. I think this could be a reasonable way to allow for players to create their own Witcher character, which I think I'd like to do. They did it well enough in cyberpunk.
If I had to make a prediction, it would be they go the same route as Cyberpunk and have a custom Witcher from this new Lynx school being formed by Ciri and Geralt. Kind of just feels like a natural progression for CDPR to keep doing the custom character thing, not to mention these types of games tend to resonate more with the streaming audience, which is a massive market that AAA studios must try to target. Now my personal preference, however, would be to have a set protagonist. Give me another Geralt or Arthur Morgan type character.
The best way to include him is to have a quest that requires knowledge that is lost about a monster. So you seek out an old expert, and it turns out to be retired Geralt
Sorry to ruin the mood but looking at what Cd Projeckt Red has been doing recently I don't think Witcher 4 will be any good compared to Withcer 3 it might not even be anything above your average AAA slop. The company has changed too much after Cyberpunk 2077. I would caution you guys to prepare yourselves for the worst.
Don’t know if I have seen this anywhere yet but…. I think they will let us create our own Witcher character as the protagonist the same way Hogwarts Legacy did for their main character. This would fit in with any of the Geralt interactions.

I could imagine Siri to be the founder of the order of the lynx, perhaps with the help of Yennefer. We were told that the creation of witchers stopped for lack of elder blood, which Siri has. Also Yennefer seems to know a lot about the process and she is immortal, so the whole setting could take place long after W3. This could induce a conflict with Geralt, him being against the whole idea. So there would have to be a serious threat to justify such a drastic measure, perhaps a new conjunction.

All those options are good ideas however I think that my favourite would definitely be after the events of the Witcher 3, if he were to briefly appear in passing I think that would be a great addition for whatever does happen in the next game.
I don't think I would mind him appearing as he is a huge part of the story till this point so it would be nice to have a somewhat passing of the torch kind of vibe to whoever will be the next focus for the games (going blind here till they release more information of course)
I do hope that however the appearance happens that it will respect the story they have created till now~

My dream is that we creat our own witcher and our witcher meets gerat while hunting. I mean in cyberpunk we create our character and they did a really great job with that so they have the experience with character creation. The problem I have with ciri as the protagonist is that A : she is overpowered and B: I wanna play a real witcher in a witcher 4 game with the mutations and everything

i have always imagined it being a game set before even the books, at a time where witchers were more needed. seeing a young geralt would be so amazing

It would be amazing if importing a Witcher 3 save would affect the way Geralt appears in the coming game, if it were to be set in the future. I.e. if you end up with Yennefer and stay at Corvo Biancho, the new protagonist could meet him there. Or if he decided to continue on the path, you encounter him in an inn as mentioned in the video.
the thing that would be awesome to me would be that the school of the lynx is actualy just a nascent thing, like Eskel and some cat's school witchers and mages under the orders of empress Ciri wanting to found a new school and somehow your character is the one that goes to corvo bianco trying to recruit "old man" Geralt to be the "new Vesemi" of that school

Would be cool if we played as a new Witcher, he would be the first Witcher created in a very long time and could stand to be interesting to see this Witcher be the first in the “school of the lynx” maybe the one who founds it. That way he could seek out Geralt and Maybe even lambert or eskell to learn different skills from each of them.
Remember he still Witchering stuff 100 years later when he saves kid Nimue in Season of Storms.

I like the story of a new witcher character parallel to Geralt's trilogy of games. How do those geopolitical events effect some other part of the continent. The obvious place being Kovir, mentioned in the games and books. Refugees fleeing north etc, with some reason to visit south and run into Geralt.
Could be that gaunter o dimm takes more center stage and the plot says: “hey who knows a lot about gaunter Geralt! Go talk to him.”

cool thing would be to go back to the golden era for witchers, when there's so many of them, we as players could create our own witcher, choose school and role play however we want.
Also, not being a savior but just another cog in the world, participating in small yet interesting stories. Not every major story has to be "universe is at stake".

Honestly, what I really see happening is exactly what happened at the end of Season of Storms, where this white-haired witcher appeared through time hunting the new monsters in that book. If he does show up, it'll be a cameo like that. Also, if Geralt isn't the main character in the next book (which he could still totally be considering he keeps hunting as mentioned in SoS), I'd only accept a create your own character thing. I'd never accept Ciri as a main character.
i think that if ciri is indeed the main character you couldn't just have geralt somewhere in the background as a less important npc, he would be core player in her story no matter if he's retired in corvo bianco, whether they had close relationship or whether ciri hates him and wants nothing to do with him - either way there's a lot of history and emotions there and i don't think that would be good to just brush it to the sidelines. not to mention i think it would really change ciri as a character whether her most important father figure stuck up to her or betrayed her. so overall while i wouldn't mind ciri being the main character, the more i think, the more i realize it would mean geralt's story is not finished after all (like yk, i couldn't just sit still in a vineyard while my daughter is having some big stuff going on with her), and excluding him from it would really feel forced. the more i think of it, the more i would rather gave geralt, ciri or both as side characters to a story of another witcher/witchers.

I think he’ll show up depending on that you say. They’ll probably have a simulation saved like in 3 were you say what you did prior.
In all honesty I wouldn't mind another Witcher game in the near future with big mmo aspects such as choosing a school, weapons, skills trees and etc jus seems like a cool idea tbh
My theory is that Ciri (and maybe geralt) start a new witcher school, and we play as an up and coming witcher who we get to customise, cyberpunk style. So voiced character with a story, but we get to change how he/she looks.
Not she, there are no female witchers. Lore wise female witchers all died in the process so they gave up on it and stuck to males.
I don't know why I never considered it could be a prequel or in-between game. We had plenty of entries in other franchises like that and they work fine. There's plenty of room for that, even before the very first story Geralt had already been on the path for years, he could be a very inexperienced young witcher and that would explain him not being center stange
Firstly, if Ciri were to be the main protagonist there would be no Witcher Potions or decoctions, or any Witcher skills or mutations and no places of power. So no, she can't realistically be the main character in the next Witcher role playing "game".
I think Geralt will have a small cameo role as a very young Witcher who crosses your path at some point, in a similar way to how they handled Letho in W3, but without the member berries.
I really do believe that it will be a "create your own Witcher" scenario but with a preset name, very similar to how CDPR did it in Cyberpunk.
You select a background and appearance with strengths, tendencies, etc.
I also think it should take place just after the conjunction of the spheres. Perhaps it could even follow you through the trial of the grasses.
You could even have a mentor you journey with for a time who comes to a tragic end somehow, and that makes you seek out ways to further enhance your skills and mutations.
There might also be several other unheard of Witcher Schools that were mostly destroyed during those early days of mayhem and terror.
Who knows anything at this point, but I have faith that CDPR will deliver something great.
If he just appears during a quest such as how Lamberts quest started it would be good. Take on a contract and Geralt is also doing it too so you work together once you met him and turn it in, split the coin and part ways never to see him again. Take contract, questgiver says there's another Witcher doing it, go to first ;location and find Geralt inspecting clues, introductions and agree to do the contract together, do it, then turn it in and say the goodbyes is all that's needed for an Easter egg. No need for explanations, no need for timeline fitting, just a contract with a tough monster.
As for flashbacks... I hope CDPR stops doing the playable flashbacks, they are worse than unskipable cutscenes.
Well some things to note:
The anniversary video implies some things regarding Geralt's canonical ending in witcher 3.
But first let me settle the matter of whether that video is cannon or not.
My first argument is that it is, as all the people in that trailer can be alive in the same playthrough, implying that that's the playthrough Geralt truly retired into, and wanted to thank the player base for.
Two CDPR choose to show us that as his retirement rather than some other variation where some of those characters are missing or dead.
Here is what the anniversary video shows us:
Geralt is retired in Toussaint, most likely with Yennefer. Meaning Triss is likely Kovir.
Dandelion & Zoltan are alive and around. Same goes for Shani and so on...
Ciri is around in some form and on good terms with him.
Geralt also mentions helping the guys with their contracts on occasion during the anniversary video. I am interpreting this as him on occasion going out to hunt a monster, whilst being semi retired.
All this means two things mostly.
One, he has friends in a lot of places, so its easy from a story perspective to place him at a spot where the player character in the next game could meet him without it feeling forced.
Two, Geralt still hunts monsters on occasion so he is probably still the greatest witcher there is, and could be a mentor figure, or just someone you meet while on the path.
On another note, I am willing to bet the next game will be a sequel or sidequel, since I doubt that CDPR will retcon in a new witcher school at this time, and so I am guessing the new Witcher school of the Lynx, is in fact new to witcher world and not somehow forgotten. Meaning we are likely starting the next story sometime after witcher 3.
As an aside, Witcher 3 ended on a minor conjunction of spheres, meaning we may have a whole new flood of monsters, potentially raising the demands for witchers once more. Justifying a new school being formed.

I honestly hope that they use Geralt as a narrator of the story rather than you actually meeting him. Or I guess you could meet him briefly if he is still alive.
Larian games are a good example. DOS2 and BG3 both have narrators - if they can work that into The Witcher 4 somehow that would be sick.

I would pay to play as younger Vesemir. His story leading to the point where he meets Geralt.

There's one trap door that allows Ciri to lead a double life: the "false Ciri." Yes, it's rumored that she died, but "we never saw the body."
Ciri can have her doppelganger playing Empress when she's out doing Witcher stuff. You can have Ciri founding a new school of the Witcher, and this is how Geralt makes a cameo.
I think the protagonist will be someone you build from the ground up, and the unique thing about the Lynx school will be that it takes Witchers from all races and genders. Now you can play as a female dwarf, for instance. And maybe the mutations aren't as powerful as what made Geralt. This is your in-universe explanation for why you start as a whelp.
Anyway, those are my thoughts.

"This far into production". Oh my sweet summer child, they're just starting production. Pre-production is a sort of feasibility study. They'll now be putting the teams together, setting up production pipelines. If you're playing the game in 6 years time it'll be early.
I suspect it will be set in the past. I think we will play someone who will take revenge for his murdered school (in this case Lynx), that would be awesome.
I prefer geralt be the vesemir in witcher 4. This isn't his story but he can appear time to time and have a role but not too much role

I love Geralt, but I don't know how I feel about this news. It just doesn't make sense having a new witcher school when a main theme of Geralt's trilogy was witchers being a dying breed. Since this is going to be around the time of Geralt, I feel like CDPR is just going to restrict themselves just for the sake of a Geralt cameo.
Hope to see Geralt be the first witcher to die in bed, good end for him.

The thing is, Geralt pulls the Witcher. I don't think Ciri or anyone else could capture such a big audience like Geralt and will not be such success either without him/having small role.
I think Geralt could easily just be a narator in the beginning of the game setting up the plot and the game itself could take place far before or after Geralt, so Geralt "being in the game" does not give us a lot of information.

i want option to choose on the very start of the game which character you want to be... every character should have different aspect of the story...
CDPR can do what they deem necessary to construct a narrative and I'll likely be fine with it, but I do hope Geralt stays semiretired and he's appearing for training and a handful of fights, not "the vineyard burned down and the Emperor's trying to kill me, guess I'm back on the Path" or whatever. Similarly, I love Ciri, but I hope they don't hang the franchise on her shoulders, and whatever other people's preferences I liked the Empress ending. Hopefully they'll ease us into more characters that can take the focus going forward. Maybe she's asserting herself and throwing imperial support behind a renewal of the Witchers with some adjustment recruitment criteria and enhancements- think SPARTAN-IVs, maintaining a moral quandary since they'll be less individually capable and die more but hey, at least it's not sacrificing tons of kids.
The Game will likely to be released 5-6 years from now , hell maybe even a bit longer, and its likely kinda same with Valhalla with Kassasndra showing up, Although I would like to be if its within the witcher games not a continuation .

Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is one of the best games I've ever played. It's right up there with the first few final fantasy games. With that said if the next installment in the franchise has Ciri as the protagonist. I won't be buying nor playing the game.
Geralt as a cameo while you are passing through Toussaint would be neat, but nothing more.
He earned his retirement, let him rest as his story is over. His next great achievement should be him dying in his own bed unlike any witcher before him.
As for Ciri I don't think she should be the protagonist as her endings vary too much and she is OP.
Personally, I would love to play as Eskel. He is a developed character that is enough of a blank slate for growth and plenty of writing possibilities. Plus they set him up nicely in Witcher 3 as he leaves Kaer Morhen to pursue his own path.

Game set in past, more rich world ( more witchers, monsters ). We meet young Geralt ( if Geralt is in game ). This way legacy of Witcher is intact.
A pre built character ( no custom character ) with established backstory. Helps in much better world building.

My prediction is that Witcher 4 will take place after Witcher 3. I think that given the "conjunction of spheres" that happens in finale of Witcher 3 while Ciri Avallac'h open the portal has let in a bunch of new monsters, and there is a need for new witchers. My guess is that maybe Eskel, Triss, and maybe Geralt himself will work to create more witchers and potentially Triss works to create female witchers. I think this could be a reasonable way to allow for players to create their own Witcher character, which I think I'd like to do. They did it well enough in cyberpunk.
If I had to make a prediction, it would be they go the same route as Cyberpunk and have a custom Witcher from this new Lynx school being formed by Ciri and Geralt. Kind of just feels like a natural progression for CDPR to keep doing the custom character thing, not to mention these types of games tend to resonate more with the streaming audience, which is a massive market that AAA studios must try to target. Now my personal preference, however, would be to have a set protagonist. Give me another Geralt or Arthur Morgan type character.
I don't see the downside to using Geralt as the main character for a new original storyline. It'll never happen but one can hope🙏

Sorry to ruin the mood but looking at what Cd Projeckt Red has been doing recently I don't think Witcher 4 will be any good compared to Withcer 3 it might not even be anything above your average AAA slop. The company has changed too much after Cyberpunk 2077.

Don’t know if I have seen this anywhere yet but…. I think they will let us create our own Witcher character as the protagonist the same way Hogwarts Legacy did for their main character. This would fit in with any of the Geralt interactions.
There has been no information regarding if you can create your own character. We just hope that we can.
