A slight clarification. The school of the crane is not canon to the books or games officially, but I included it as it was part of a collection of short stories published in 2013 about the Witcher. I was debating whether to include mentioning it at all but ultimately decided that as the book was (seemingly) officially published it was better to at least mention it. The only canon game schools are the wolf, cat, griffin, manticore, bear, viper and now seemingly lynx. In the official books it's just wolf, cat and griffin. The school of the crane is a weird one and that's part of the reason I never included it in my Witcher schools series.
That book wasn't written by Sapkowski or publicly recognized by him as canonical, so I see no reason to even ponder if it is so -- it most likely isn't, so including it in this video will probably just incite confusion on people that didn't know about it and really trust you for information about The Witcher... I think it was a bad decision to include it without the necessary clarifications. Also, I think people give too much weight to their particular choices not begin contradicted by a set canonical path in this case. Sometimes you just gotta accept that the particular way you'd like to do things just isn't the most coherent or interesting one and move on, that way next games won't have to be restrained by you playing Geralt in whatever wild way you want. Games like the Mass Effect ones suffered too much by trying to not contradict previous choices and mistakes while letting you make meaningful ones -- too many good characters were reduced to meager presences in other games because they could get killed and stuff -- and although maybe that's a price to pay to have agency in a story where your character is mostly a blank slate, like Shepard is, The Witcher isn't like that and there is such a thing as "what Geralt would most likely do?", and the response to that question should definitely inform the canonical path of the games (there are some choices you could make a strong case either way, but then you have to do an exercise in analyzing which one would be better to serve future stuff or just is more in-line when you look closer). Also, it can be argued that CDPR has already set the canon of TW3 in the official comic Curse of Crows, which is witcheress Ciri as the ending and Yen being the romance (duh), and although one could maybe retort saying it's a particular story that rolls with one possible path, I don't think there's strong evidence to say either way...

Hi George, I have a theory, would love to have your thoughts on it. I imagine the game something like a new Witcher school founded centuries after the events of Witcher 3. Where all the main schools have been forgotten entirely. A world where monsters are abundant and rampant due to the lack of Witchers. A world where monsters have evolved into stronger versions of themselves. Where the lower monsters act like regular rampant beasts that torment the locals. And higher and sentient monsters possibly even rule over entire kingdoms. I imagine the game play something very similar to Middle Earth games. Where the usual encounters are hoard enemies. Just imagine a hoard of Nekkers or ghouls or wraiths just coming at you. The main objective would be to liberate entire regions/kingdoms. Fighting hoards and hoards of enemies and taking out the commander of small outposts, liberating it little by little until you can challenge the main "boss" of the area. After liberating all the areas of a region under a sentient monster ruler, we have an arena based final showdown or an all out war in taking back the castle where we duel the ruler and his personal bodyguards to the death. After beating them, we "dominate" them, I suppose? Using a much evolved Axii to persuade the ruler to be more liberal in his ruling or to join your cause in beating the king. Here's where your choices come into play. Where some rulers are actually cruel or some have their reasons or some are forced to do so by the main villain of the game. Along the way, you are revealed some lore about the ruler on how he is in person, which ultimately would end in a choice in killing him or sparing him or have him join your cause forcefully or peacefully. This is where I theorize that Lynx is essentially a cross between the School of the wolf and the School of the Cat. It needs to have both the training and mentality of both schools. School of the wolf which is sort of jack of all trades for the hoard enemies. And the School of the Cat for taking out the main bosses something like assassinating the local war chief monster or the monster ruler himself. The monsters have evolved, and so are the Witcher signs and potion. Which are much potent than what we saw in Witcher 3. Or if it is Ciri herself we are playing, her broken abilities are perfect for this game. She can user her elder blood for hoards and bosses. In middle earth games, it was the rings that gave you power, here it is Ciri's elder blood. Basically, the game starts out first by founding the school itself. We play as Ciri or someone entirely new. We visit Kaer Morhen and Stygga Castle gather the in depth knowledge of the way of each schools. Master the basics. And essentially create your own rules, spells, potions, training, etc. Where you need to decide if such a skill/potion/spell/training is necessary or not. Where all skills have trade offs which define your school. And possibly impact the people joining your cause. For example, axii where you can permanently harm the mind of the influenced may be something your mates might consider inhuman. It is good spell, can be helpful but not necessary. Where your actions have effect on how people see you in areas you explore. Potions that can reduce your life span considerably, but also can be very useful to beat difficult bosses. Choice system something inspired from Frostpunk game mechanics. From there to liberating entire areas until you defeat the main villain. What do you think @WitcherGeorge? Kovir and Poviss always made me curious apparently they were apart of redania before breaking away and only recently became extremely rich mining and banking countries, it’d be a nice region full of amazing cities huge mountains and some poor undeveloped areas to give that witcher feel. Skellige Novigrad and Velen all wrapped in one. It’d pretty much be northern Snowy Toussaint bc everything is going amazing for them
Only thing it ever said to me was "only devil's tread here" never saw anything about dragons and I went off the map a lot. Easiest way to fast travel when not close to a signpost.
I think the cleanest way to go about the games setting is to have it take place several hundreds of years before Witcher 3, when the population of both Witchers and monsters were at their height. That will leave the story’s world post Witcher 3 safe from the discussion of what ending is canon, while also creating a dynamic world where you have several Witcher schools you can interact with during their zenith. The player character would be a voiced and named protagonist similar to V in Cyberpunk, where you would get to create how they look and make narrative choices with them. So while it won’t be a set protagonist like Geralt, it won’t be as open ended as say Skyrim- you’re playing as a Witcher of the school of the Lynx, playing out the games’ narrative.
As much as I love this, I have a hunch they'd be too scared to set aside Geralt and Ciri even though Geralt possibly retires in Blood And Wine. It makes the most sense, but the inherent "blank slate" nature of a player character would probably hurt the story.
While I think that would be cool for a spin-off, I think we are well deserving of an actual continuation of the story and what happened after the Witcher 3.
@@connorodum6710 not only that, but the Witcher schools never chose girls as new recruits because canonically their bodies could not handle the mutations. But I do think there’s a way they could explain away a female Witcher player character if they go the character customization route rather than a preset character. Come up with some story like she’s the only female to have ever survived or something. Not saying it’d be a good idea or that they should do it, but I feel like the possibility is there. And when weighing out the possibility of a preset character that’s not geralt vs a player made character, I think I’ve seen more interest in the latter idea.
In my opinion, one of the most interesting things that could happen would be that we play as a witcher school that functions in the rest of the Nilfgaardian Empire. That is one map I'd love to see! Places like Vicovaro and Naziar. That would be fun
After getting the reveal trailer for The Witcher 4, I think some of your points and some theories hold up pretty well. We play as a witcher Ciri, she has a lynx medallion and is possibly its founder (perhaps with Geralt). She Wears a fur coat and armor alike lynx' fur, is light on her feet, with "lightning" fast (no pun intended, her shock ability) attacks. Devs said all 3 endings of TW3 will remain valid and not break canon and confirmed she went through the Trial of the Grasses. We just don't know what happened to her after she entered the White Frost, lost powers, changed her in some way or another to allow her to go through the mutagen process as a female and an adult. We just got to wait to get mode details.
I always thought the protagonist is going to be a young witcher. Geralt was already old and experienced, so for the new trilogy it would be something different and fresh to be playing as someone who just became a witcher and who is inexperienced and still learning, it could be very interesting and offer a lot of potential in terms of storytelling
Geralt is basically confirmed to return but not as the main protagonist according to the voice actor. Meanwhile Ciri is far to overpowered, and not a witcher in the traditional sense
For the ambiguous ending, the school could be founded in Ciri's honor/memory. This would allow for that ambiguity to continue, making those choices feel even more impactful.
Not really. If a school was founded on Ciri's fate, it would change a lot whether she sacrificed herself, became empress, or a witcher. The idea doesn't hold up.
I was commenting on George's speculation that the school of the lynx could have been founded by Ciri if it weren't for the ambiguous ending (i should have time stamped this content for clarity, sorry about that). This was just a suggestion on how it could still fit. I agree that the sparrow would make more sense for a Ciri-based school, but I was just expanding on the theory George highlighted. It's not my (or seemingly his) first choice for being most likely, but I thought it was a fun thought experiment to figure out how that could fit all the endings.
It would be great to have it as a prequel with more attention to the conjunction of spheres lore and stories inception of Witcher movement, but they know that this game won’t sell as good without some Getalt cameos, so it will definitely be a “10 years after” sequel of sorts
I would like it to be a prequel. Maybe set around the first conjunction of spheres, and the school is brand new and a reaction to monsters now existing in the world. Not sure how any of that would fit into canon, but it would be cool to see imo

@@sidequestsally Why would he have to be gone? His (exciting parts of) adventures came to an end, but that doesn't necessarily mean we wouldn't see him at all. For all we know he could appear again, but much older. Maybe he even could do what Vesamir used to and train young Witchers if for one reason or another there's a need for more of them again.
For me, I really wish it to be like Geralt grew old and from all of his experience, and the knowledge he gathered on the path and the mages he knew the good ones and the bad ones, and he like gather all of his money to form a fort ,to form a school following Vesmir ways of teaching. Imagine playing the new witcher where in quest you go back to the fort seeing the old grandmaster wolf geralt of rivia. I dont know I really just wanna see Geralt again. Cant forget that look in blood and wine 😢

If its in the snow, «europan inspired» ofcourse it would be a lynx. I think lynxes are way more nimble than housecat here in skellige ups i mean Norway we have the Northen lynx, they can go up a tree so fast it just looks like flight. And they can jump over two meters tall and almost 10 meters far from almost no run up. They are very sneaky, i would think they would be closer to the school of the viper in demeanor, oppsite to the wolfs, who we have seen will almost always confront a tagret directly before battle. Im very excited to see whats gonna happen
I'd really love to see some more of that gritty art style from the second game. I've always argued that the way Flotsam makes you feel is incomparable compared to pretty much any open world game. Too many times in the witcher 3 I'd be in a forest or village and think, we've taken a step backwards in atmosphere. I understand smaller games are easier to make more detailed and atmospheric, but I'd love to see a bit more of both. I also prefer a bit of unrealistic lighting to set the mood :)
Might just be perspective, but the 3rd is the most atmospheric game I've played in my life. Granted, the sound effects and score were big contributors to that, but I played the 2nd after the 3rd and didn't feel like it was an atmospheric improvement at all. Maybe it depends on which game was the player's first experience with CD Projekt's Witcher universe.
If a Lynx can jump so high and land on their 2 feet, maybe the protagonist of the next game wouldn't take so much fall damage Also I really hope it's not a Ciri Protagonist Game. I dislike playing her. No Signs. No Heavy Attacks. No Counters. Her spells are boring. Geralt has a whole colour spectrum on his hand, Ciri has light green and that's it.
Considering the only supposed lore we have on them is a completely fan made school that predated the announcement, my theory is that the actual School of the Lynx may just be Gezras's branch/the caravan. It sure sounds better than the super reaching theory of Lambert out of all people wanting to start a Witcher School. Did people forget about the conversations you have with him in Witcher 3, and the disdain he has for how he became a Witcher, and even the bitterness he still has just from being one?
@@Muaykhao187 ehh, honestly if we’re talking about game wise, then that’s more of players deciding what types of weapons and armor geralt will use, even what build they went. But if we’re talking about Jack of all trades Witcher school. I would say they would learn to smith their own weapons and armors. As well as learn how to make their own enchanted weapons, and possibly use two weapons at a time, or one big one like letho in Witcher 2. As well as use stealth and more advanced potions and bombs (similar to what letho used in the cinematic on that ship.) as well as magic wise, it would be nice to use more than just signs, possibly magic spells like what triss and yennefer use.
My theory: The School of Lynx created not long after the event of Witcher 3. Regardless of endings, conjunction of spheres still happened long enough to teleports many new creatures & a new Witcher school must be established. The new school located in Dragon Mountain, created not just by human, but other races too with elves & dwarves. The founders of the school are remnants of Lodge of Sorceresses including Yen, Triss, & Ciri (depend of the endings), with Geralt & possibly Lambert as Grandmasters. I know this read way too fan service-ish but logically there can be only a few well known witchers that are worthy to be grandmasters & created a new school, especially with the death of Vesemir, unless CDPR totally make new character that we know nothing of. As for the concern with canon endings, personally I would consider the bad/death endings such as the death of Ciri as simply non canonical. Same thing with CP2077 with the unalive ending. My reasoning? It's a stoppage of the story arc so whether its canonical or not is irrelevant to a direct continuation of a story. Basically, the story sequel already predetermined on the accounts of massive important characters still survive from player's choices. Also, I don't think people will be disagree or dissatisfied since it's a bad ending essentially & I am sure the majority of players prefer to have Ciri to be alive. This type of sequel is not new & have been done before. For example, Drakengard & Nier series that practically a continuation from specific ending of the first game (Drakengard), albeit from one of the worst endings.
personally. I`d love to play using some of the traditional characters. especially Ciri. CDPR could make it work, and the desicions made during W3 are not even that the important. again this is a personal opinion.
Where did CDPR confirm that it's the School of the Lynx? I've seen that name thrown around quite a bit, mostly from gaming websites and videos like this, but nowhere can I find an official naming from CDPR.
I like the idea of Ciri Starting the school of the Lynx, but while you say it could be a mix between Wolf/Cat - If Ciri created it, it could also be something more akin to a spell sword with Ciri knowing some magic. I'm thinking Witchers who may not even undergo the transformation (which obviously wouldn't make as much sense) but more importantly perhaps Witchers who are more in tune with magic, being able to cast further spells than the signs as well as trained in melee combat. This would also work if Lambert and Kiera created the school, one to train magic, one to train Combat.
Does everyone ignore the Second Conjunction of Spheres that happens towards the end in the Witcher 3? Why is no one talking about it as a possible plot thread in the next game?

I really like the idea I've seen of the Lynx school being founded in memory/honor of Ciri. For a long time I've speculated that if we got a new Witcher school for The Witcher 4, it will have been founded by Yen and/or Triss. And it doesn't need to have Lambert involved in training the recruits in Witcher combat; there's also Eskel. I also love your analysis of the possible characteristics of Lynx school witchers based on irl lynx. Something else to consider is that in Native American folklore (a departure from the Slavic roots of The Witcher I know but it's something) is that lynx are considered a "keeper of secrets". So maybe the Lynx school is like the Viper school - founded with a greater threat than simple monsters in mind, and are also collecting lore on/researching that threat. Or they could simply be involved in collecting magical knowledge like the Griffin school was; this would also track if my Yen/Triss idea pans out. As for how the game plays, I have two big wishes; first, is I would like to see the different sword styles from The Witcher 1 return. It may complicate combat a bit more than most would like, and while I can live without it, I love how different swordsmanship styles can make a world feel more expansive and lends a level of customization to players through their fighting styles. It could also add to the feeling of "newness" for a School of the Lynx; like, it's so young and inexperienced that it hasn't developed its own unique swordfighting style and identity, so it's pulling from mutliple influences. Second is I'd want to build on the crafting mechanics, namely where you don't have to dismantle loot from certain creatures, like Leshen resin or a fiend's eye, to get craftable components; maybe a tiered crafting system where more rare ingredients from more powerful creatures produces a more powerful item.
The eyes on the Lynx medallion are glowing, I know they did that with the wolf medallion too but in mythology the Lynx is believed to have supernatural eyes that uncover hidden truths, see through lies, and things like that. I doubt that Lynx Witchers can do that, but I do believe it's likely that the mythology of the lynx is going to factor in to why these Witchers are invoking this animal specifically.
As far as the School of the Lynx, I think the lynx is just a cool animal they picked. 🤷♂️ Give them the opportunity to build another level of their own canon, without having to worry about breaking canon of any other schools or characters.
It needs to be an established witcher in the world for it to feel like a witcher game. I agree with you about ubisofts mistake of having a choice since it doesn't fit the series and I hate games with multiple protagonists. I wonder if it will be a more enhanced witcher than geralt since he was already more mutated than the others with the pale skin and ashen hair . I don't have much faith that they'll be able to deliver something even close to on par with TW3.
Also, maybe I'm off base here but Witcher George is usually better about checking personal biases. I felt like he tried too hard to say what the fans want. Every fan has their own idea of what they want. For example, I know six people off the top of my head who'd love a Ciri led game.
Sadly it appears CDPR have went full on woke. Some of their designers and creatives have left to start their own company. If it's yet another video game loaded with DEI I'll pass. I only want to play quality games that provide escapism via fleshed out characters in a relatable narrative driven world. Not a 'game' that spends more time preaching or trying to make me feel guilty for being born the way I am.
The safest bet would be making a prequel, maybe before Geralt before the Wild Hunt before all that, this way no choices are invalidated AND they have the space to explore new stuff.

If they do the you can chose what school you belong in theory you had I would imagine it wouldn’t change the story but would change the gameplay of the character for example school of the bear you would play a strong but slow character but if you choose school of the cat then you would be fast and stealthy but not physically strong
I'm hoping cyberpunk was their "sacrifice" to learn for the Witcher and do a job that meets the high bar of expectations from the fan base. I also want them to focus on the game's writing/ story. Quality. I also would like 1 preset character. I also do not want them to use an already seen character for the game. Combat in AC changed for the worse around Far cry and Syndicate.... 60 slashes later target goes down... really screams assassin- lesson here don't go for "flare" over staying true to your function/ character AC also should have a set person as the character but they do as you say and give 2. C'mon your playing a life already lived. The other thing is the incessant hollow heartless flirting with anything that may resemble human form... or not in video games. This is something I find truly irritating 🙄. Don't do it. It detracts from the main story. Well written and in character if you include romances. Also have a GD idea of what it is you are doing don't just jump on social band wagons. What would the character choose? What is their past? Eh I guess I'm hopeful however my optimism is cautious. 8y ago or so I likey would have picked it up right away based off Witcher 3. Now... I'll sit back and see what's what before I buy. Day 1 patches may be the new norm but they shouldn't be. Paying for the game should be the full game in working FINISHED condition. I don't feel like paying full price pre-order or full price in general for a glitch mess I'm beta testing. Or just a piece of the full game. Also microtransactions: if they're in I'm out
I like the idea of School of the Lynx being the first school. Through out the games, world politics and infighting leads to the creation of the canon schools. Or maybe just the creation of the Wolf and Cat schools.
I always felt like a game involving the school of the cat would be really cool, whether they are villains or we play as one doesn't really matter they are the most interesting school in my opinion. Perhaps the school of the lynx is in some way connected to the school of the cat who knows. Anyway great video as always george : )
could it be founded by a collection of witchers from all schools, who are so few that chose to gain strength in numbers? If we knew what kind of enemy they are facing, we could brainstorm better. The best way to speculate is to talk about why is there a new school. What is the need.
I hope it isn't a school founded by Ciri or something like that. Witchers are a dying breed and that's important to the lore, plus no more Wichers can be created. I'd rather have the game in the early era of the Witcher schools. Cat School was formed by a division of the Wolf School, maybe the Lynx School is kinda like that.
what if.... and hold your horses: its a lot earlier than the story of geralt like several centuries earlier right after the conjunction of spheres when there were a whole lot of witcher schools
My personal thought is that a second conjunction bringing in new more dangerous types of monster occurs which will force the survivors of each school to band together to re-form the order of witchers which existed before the creation of the schools. They then share information and begin to develop hybrid schools that follow the teachings of two or more previous witcher schools which become different divisions within the order handling different types of monsters in different areas. Given how it is very likely we'll get to create our own new witcher and how I'm pretty sure CD Projekt red won't fully abandon Geralt's accomplishments since they've only said that Geralt's story has ended, I think this would be more likely for Polaris to be a sequel than a prequel, it could also be fit in the renaisance era where the introduction of firearms like are just begining and they function similarily to our crossbow with improvements. It could even allow for the creation of female witchers, in terms of character creation, as the cat schools research into the creation process of witchers become shared.
early on, there was talk about making it fit for "modern audiences". Maybe that's what he means? With any luck they're looking at all the DEI money losers and are considering their choices wisely. The Witcher universe was always progressive on its own. I hope they put quality over agenda.
I remember seeing someone involved in The Witched Remake that theyre "making it for modern audiences" and removing all the "Outdated parts" which doesn't sound too good...
We don't need a female protagonist it's not In the lore period and what's been established is that girls couldn't survive the trials. It's one thing to make small changes to the lore like adding schools but that's tiny and doesn't really change the lore like a female witcher would. Just respect the lore it's not that hard and there is nothing wrong with it so stick with it
It is not hard indeed but the point is that their choices will trigger complains from some groups with their own ideology. So developpers have to adapt to avoid scadals etc (i.e: what Netflix does by choosing weird castings). I am not against that but as you underlined it, it must stay consistent with the established lore.
The girls cannot survive trials was really only truly established in one of the recent RPG books. Before it was speculated, but never confirmed. So it by itself is relatively new lore one and it's not impossible someone has figured out a new trial of grasses or some other method to make someone a witcher. Also what is even "lore period." It isn't our medieval era and even it there were women who managed to defy the usual expectations.
@@Kummitusv6lur iv read the actual books all 8 of them am actually reading them again now. It states in the books that they have tried the trials on girls and none have ever survived. Only 3 out of ten boys survive if girls could survive there would probably be more boys surviving. Now lore is what the creator of the Witcher says it is in his world that he created so people need to respect that. The witcher series on Netflix failed cause they wouldn't respect the lore or books it's also why Henry Cavill left. Again it is very easy to respect the source material and it should always be done. For some one to think they know better then the actual creator that's crazy and disrespectful period

And well Sapkowski considers the games non canon already so his opinion kinda becomes moo in this situation. And the sudden existence of female witchers wouldn't even break anything in the world. Someone managed to create a different formula and hey girls can survive that one. It would just be an option for players who want to play female characters

Maybe the School of the Lynx is a splinter group from the School of the Cat (since a lynx is a type of cat). Perhaps they disagreed with the Cats taking on assassination contracts and decided to form their on school.
I see a possibility of a Ciri founded Lynx school but instead of a trial of the grasses to mutate boys, she takes magically gifted boys and girls who learn to use their power in a limited way. Maybe they weren't gifted enough for the traditional sorcery schools, but they have enough power to simulate signs. Ciri could be the school founder but not the player character, she'd be the Vesimer of the story for your character.
My DREAM witcher game would be an MMO type, where you pick your school (class) and head out on the path taking contracts. While on the path you can run into other withers (co-op) and team up on contracts, but if you do you have to split the payment. Could be cool to create your own custom witcher
I really hope they go for some more survival elements with fires and camping stuff. Traveling is such an important thing in the witcher, and it's really lacking in the other games.
Your first theory was where my head went right before you said it. Not because I’m sold on it but because it works with the ‘updating’ narrative and allows for continuation the valuable IP to some extent. I’d love to see a prequel but I think the Ciri as possible empress and figure head just sounds . I’d love to explore the distant past and far flung lands and lore but I don’t see them wanting to reinvent the wheel that much.

I see it as more likely to come before the Witcher takes place. It seems like a possibility because the trail of the grasses is sorta being phased out or gone at the time of the books/games. I’d imagine it would even be pre books because I think they might be a bit cleaner when they tackle timeline shit
I think Ciri must be a protagonist in the Witcher 4; her being the heir of the throne of The North is just a means to an end; it sets her free "economicly". This would open the door for her to factually be the founder of the spin-off, The School of the Lynx.
They can bring anyone back by Gaunter O'Dimm giving a wish before he was sent back to his domain, and one request he tells them they need to create a new Witcher guild
My theory of where the school would or could be is this. Either 1. South of the Northen realms. The parts or the Continent. Past Nilfguard and possibly even further then that. 2. East of the great desert. Whe know less about what's over there then we do about what's south. They could do alot with that. Though that could do alot with 1. And what I think and would like to see. 3. It's set west past the great sea. Supposedly there is another continent off the map. I think it's mentioned a few times in the lore. Some people on the Reddit said it's where the Crain school is, but I don't know if that's true or not. I could definitely see a witcher. One of the the existing schools or one long ago when the witcher guild disbanded traveling south or west or east to establish their own school. Would make sense seeing it's a sort of mix between the wolf and cat. Something a witcher that came from a time before schools existed and witchers had specialties. Personally I'm hoping for across the sea. There is something so tantalizing about what lies beyond the edging of the map. Across vast stretches of ocean.
IF Polaris was to play after the Witcher saga, and Geralt having a minor role in the story seems to point to that, there is only one way this could happen. As Vesemir says, the creation of witchers stopped for a lack of elder blood. So it seems to me the only person who could found the school of the lynx is Siri (perhaps with the help of Yennefer, who showed remarkable knowledge about witcher alchemy). As the lynx is smaller than wolf and bear my guess would be that the school of the lynx is a female witcher school. I agree that it is not a good idea to make Siri the main protagonist for various reasons. I could imagine we start with a young female witcher of the school of the lynx. This would pose a significant challenge to introduce a new character and make people love her as much as Geralt, but it is not impossible.
It took me THIS long to stop seeing a screeching Griffin in that medallion teaser poster. I always thought it was a Griffin with its mouth open and the lower beak is buried in the snow, but only now have I noticed the nose and the mouth engravings on what I thought to be the top beak, with what I thought to be the stretched cheeks being the ruff (the extra long tufts of fur on the neck) of the Lynx. In my defence, the ruff looks very long on the medallion and previous medallions have the iconography of their School's animal screeching/snarling in some way, but not the Lynx. But hey, now I know what a "ruff" is on a Lynx.
I think it's going to be a mix of 3 schools focused on the wolf but a touch of the cat and viper,my thoughts being geralts will fuse all the dying schools into one succeeding chapter.
The Cat Whicher school is the most interesting as it’s members have a reputation amongst Whichers similar to that that all Whichers have amongst humans. There is alot of prejudice abou them but its members are neither weak nor are they mindless killers. I love the fact that this school focuses on speed and agility and critical hits instead of raw power and that it has so much deapth and mystery around it. Other schools are very streight forward as to their chosen path. The cat school seems like it operates in the shadows and because it does it is shrouded in myth, legend and prejudice. I wonder if the Lynx school has some connection to the cat school and explorers the lore of what happened to its members. It is an interesting trope to explore. I wouldn’t be surprised that the cat school exists in the shadows as some covert wchool while the lynx school is some reincarnation of the cat school.
I want a whole world with multiple schools that you can choose to be a part of! they were locked in with Geralt, but now its wide open, we can be our own witcher in the world.
Well, everyone keeps forgetting that. Just because the schools shut down doesn't necessarily mean everyone passed away. If I remember correctly a few people escaped and who knows, maybe so old Masters decided to remake a new school and heck this might be a whole new area. We might go further west or south
Personally, I want the trilogy to be so far in the future that the lynx school was set up to protect the frontier on the other side of the sea/mountains to really empower cdpr with more creative license. They did a great job imho with the first trilogy so it would be cool to see wholly in house creations for the second to really push lore nerd like myself to new places.

I don't know if its a hot take but I can't see Ciri forming a new school. I find the idea that Ciri, Geralt would actively want to create new Witchers kinda strange, given the trauma of the Trials of the Grasses Geralt and the other Witchers carry. I found it especially strange during the intro of Witcher 1 with the new Witcher recruit character being trained by Vesemir. Training Ciri is kinda an exception because well she could use the training given her value as a political hostage and that its one of the few ways Vesemir and Geralt could relate to Ciri. Geralt has little experience with kids and Vesemir didn't really raise Geralt and Eskel in the most normal setting. I feel Ciri must also know some of what happened and what the Trials were like. Unless ofc she makes Witchers that do not go through the Trials.
18:40 Literally my biggest pet peeve with the recent Assassins Creed games. I hate that they do it. Theres no point and it breaks the fundamental lore elements of the entire franchise. You're reliving history so its either it happened or it didn't...point blank period. There's no room for interpretation, choices or embellishing. It is literally set in stone. And we're not talking about if the character played a mini game or not we're talking about the very identity of the person youre playing as. Thats a pretty big deal 🤷♂️

I think the school of the lynx will take place during the Golden age of The witchers. And they will be a small, yet effective school unlike the larger more popular schools.
I think it would be pretty kickass to play as Ciri. She is a little bit too OP though so that might cause some issues. I can't see her not being in the game though, we spent like 3 whole games not knowing where she went and we finally get her back in TW3. It'd be kinda shitty to wrap her story up that quickly
The Witcher game I would like to see takes place 100-150 years before W3 during the heyday of witchers and monsters. You create your own Witcher and choose your school and specialty. The main loop of the game would be grinding monster contracts or mercenary jobs to work your way up in the world, get involved in political intrigue etc. maybe interact with some older established characters. You wouldn’t see all the familiar faces but you would learn a lot more about the history of the Witcher world. It would give you a better perspective of the later books and games to experience the backstory.
It would be cool if Lynx witchers could use Aard on themselves and jump incredibly high to attack flying enemies or to deal quick but massive blows on ground enemies
It might be next game all remaining witcher schools joined together to train and carry on the teachings of the schools and that the player character could pick which schools training and teachings they follow in the start kinda like the cyberpunk 2077 life paths. I’d prefer it to be based before the main timeline. At least as early as Vesemir’s youth. But if it has to move forward I think it being founded in honor of Ciri would work for the ending issue. As far as a female Witcher protagonist I think it would be interesting to make her like Geralt in that she’s the product of a new experiment of the process so the lore isn’t exactly changed as much as further developed.
A slight clarification. The school of the crane is not canon to the books or games officially, but I included it as it was part of a collection of short stories published in 2013 about the Witcher. I was debating whether to include mentioning it at all but ultimately decided that as the book was (seemingly) officially published it was better to at least mention it. The only canon game schools are the wolf, cat, griffin, manticore, bear, viper and now seemingly lynx. In the official books it's just wolf, cat and griffin. The school of the crane is a weird one and that's part of the reason I never included it in my Witcher schools series.

That book wasn't written by Sapkowski or publicly recognized by him as canonical, so I see no reason to even ponder if it is so -- it most likely isn't, so including it in this video will probably just incite confusion on people that didn't know about it and really trust you for information about The Witcher... I think it was a bad decision to include it without the necessary clarifications.
Also, I think people give too much weight to their particular choices not begin contradicted by a set canonical path in this case. Sometimes you just gotta accept that the particular way you'd like to do things just isn't the most coherent or interesting one and move on, that way next games won't have to be restrained by you playing Geralt in whatever wild way you want. Games like the Mass Effect ones suffered too much by trying to not contradict previous choices and mistakes while letting you make meaningful ones -- too many good characters were reduced to meager presences in other games because they could get killed and stuff -- and although maybe that's a price to pay to have agency in a story where your character is mostly a blank slate, like Shepard is, The Witcher isn't like that and there is such a thing as "what Geralt would most likely do?", and the response to that question should definitely inform the canonical path of the games (there are some choices you could make a strong case either way, but then you have to do an exercise in analyzing which one would be better to serve future stuff or just is more in-line when you look closer).
Also, it can be argued that CDPR has already set the canon of TW3 in the official comic Curse of Crows, which is witcheress Ciri as the ending and Yen being the romance (duh), and although one could maybe retort saying it's a particular story that rolls with one possible path, I don't think there's strong evidence to say either way...

Hi George, I have a theory, would love to have your thoughts on it.
I imagine the game something like a new Witcher school founded centuries after the events of Witcher 3. Where all the main schools have been forgotten entirely. A world where monsters are abundant and rampant due to the lack of Witchers. A world where monsters have evolved into stronger versions of themselves. Where the lower monsters act like regular rampant beasts that torment the locals. And higher and sentient monsters possibly even rule over entire kingdoms.
I imagine the game play something very similar to Middle Earth games. Where the usual encounters are hoard enemies. Just imagine a hoard of Nekkers or ghouls or wraiths just coming at you. The main objective would be to liberate entire regions/kingdoms. Fighting hoards and hoards of enemies and taking out the commander of small outposts, liberating it little by little until you can challenge the main "boss" of the area. After liberating all the areas of a region under a sentient monster ruler, we have an arena based final showdown or an all out war in taking back the castle where we duel the ruler and his personal bodyguards to the death. After beating them, we "dominate" them, I suppose? Using a much evolved Axii to persuade the ruler to be more liberal in his ruling or to join your cause in beating the king. Here's where your choices come into play. Where some rulers are actually cruel or some have their reasons or some are forced to do so by the main villain of the game. Along the way, you are revealed some lore about the ruler on how he is in person, which ultimately would end in a choice in killing him or sparing him or have him join your cause forcefully or peacefully.
This is where I theorize that Lynx is essentially a cross between the School of the wolf and the School of the Cat. It needs to have both the training and mentality of both schools. School of the wolf which is sort of jack of all trades for the hoard enemies. And the School of the Cat for taking out the main bosses something like assassinating the local war chief monster or the monster ruler himself. The monsters have evolved, and so are the Witcher signs and potion. Which are much potent than what we saw in Witcher 3.
Or if it is Ciri herself we are playing, her broken abilities are perfect for this game. She can user her elder blood for hoards and bosses. In middle earth games, it was the rings that gave you power, here it is Ciri's elder blood.
Basically, the game starts out first by founding the school itself. We play as Ciri or someone entirely new. We visit Kaer Morhen and Stygga Castle gather the in depth knowledge of the way of each schools. Master the basics. And essentially create your own rules, spells, potions, training, etc. Where you need to decide if such a skill/potion/spell/training is necessary or not. Where all skills have trade offs which define your school. And possibly impact the people joining your cause. For example, axii where you can permanently harm the mind of the influenced may be something your mates might consider inhuman. It is good spell, can be helpful but not necessary. Where your actions have effect on how people see you in areas you explore. Potions that can reduce your life span considerably, but also can be very useful to beat difficult bosses. Choice system something inspired from Frostpunk game mechanics.
From there to liberating entire areas until you defeat the main villain.

Canonically there are very few dragons and they are an intelligent species. There is a golden dragon that appears in one of the short stories.
Only thing it ever said to me was "only devil's tread here" never saw anything about dragons and I went off the map a lot. Easiest way to fast travel when not close to a signpost.

I think the cleanest way to go about the games setting is to have it take place several hundreds of years before Witcher 3, when the population of both Witchers and monsters were at their height. That will leave the story’s world post Witcher 3 safe from the discussion of what ending is canon, while also creating a dynamic world where you have several Witcher schools you can interact with during their zenith.
The player character would be a voiced and named protagonist similar to V in Cyberpunk, where you would get to create how they look and make narrative choices with them. So while it won’t be a set protagonist like Geralt, it won’t be as open ended as say Skyrim- you’re playing as a Witcher of the school of the Lynx, playing out the games’ narrative.
As much as I love this, I have a hunch they'd be too scared to set aside Geralt and Ciri even though Geralt possibly retires in Blood And Wine. It makes the most sense, but the inherent "blank slate" nature of a player character would probably hurt the story.
While I think that would be cool for a spin-off, I think we are well deserving of an actual continuation of the story and what happened after the Witcher 3.

Ciri was the first female Witcher, so they would have to retcon the entire Witcher 3 game for character customization
@@connorodum6710 not only that, but the Witcher schools never chose girls as new recruits because canonically their bodies could not handle the mutations. But I do think there’s a way they could explain away a female Witcher player character if they go the character customization route rather than a preset character. Come up with some story like she’s the only female to have ever survived or something. Not saying it’d be a good idea or that they should do it, but I feel like the possibility is there. And when weighing out the possibility of a preset character that’s not geralt vs a player made character, I think I’ve seen more interest in the latter idea.
In my opinion, one of the most interesting things that could happen would be that we play as a witcher school that functions in the rest of the Nilfgaardian Empire. That is one map I'd love to see! Places like Vicovaro and Naziar. That would be fun
After getting the reveal trailer for The Witcher 4, I think some of your points and some theories hold up pretty well. We play as a witcher Ciri, she has a lynx medallion and is possibly its founder (perhaps with Geralt). She Wears a fur coat and armor alike lynx' fur, is light on her feet, with "lightning" fast (no pun intended, her shock ability) attacks. Devs said all 3 endings of TW3 will remain valid and not break canon and confirmed she went through the Trial of the Grasses. We just don't know what happened to her after she entered the White Frost, lost powers, changed her in some way or another to allow her to go through the mutagen process as a female and an adult. We just got to wait to get mode details.
So hyped for this game to come out in 2030

I always thought the protagonist is going to be a young witcher. Geralt was already old and experienced, so for the new trilogy it would be something different and fresh to be playing as someone who just became a witcher and who is inexperienced and still learning, it could be very interesting and offer a lot of potential in terms of storytelling

Not really. If a school was founded on Ciri's fate, it would change a lot whether she sacrificed herself, became empress, or a witcher. The idea doesn't hold up.
I was commenting on George's speculation that the school of the lynx could have been founded by Ciri if it weren't for the ambiguous ending (i should have time stamped this content for clarity, sorry about that). This was just a suggestion on how it could still fit. I agree that the sparrow would make more sense for a Ciri-based school, but I was just expanding on the theory George highlighted. It's not my (or seemingly his) first choice for being most likely, but I thought it was a fun thought experiment to figure out how that could fit all the endings.

If its in the snow, «europan inspired» ofcourse it would be a lynx. I think lynxes are way more nimble than housecat here in skellige ups i mean Norway we have the Northen lynx, they can go up a tree so fast it just looks like flight. And they can jump over two meters tall and almost 10 meters far from almost no run up. They are very sneaky, i would think they would be closer to the school of the viper in demeanor, oppsite to the wolfs, who we have seen will almost always confront a tagret directly before battle. Im very excited to see whats gonna happen
I'd really love to see some more of that gritty art style from the second game. I've always argued that the way Flotsam makes you feel is incomparable compared to pretty much any open world game. Too many times in the witcher 3 I'd be in a forest or village and think, we've taken a step backwards in atmosphere. I understand smaller games are easier to make more detailed and atmospheric, but I'd love to see a bit more of both. I also prefer a bit of unrealistic lighting to set the mood :)
Might just be perspective, but the 3rd is the most atmospheric game I've played in my life. Granted, the sound effects and score were big contributors to that, but I played the 2nd after the 3rd and didn't feel like it was an atmospheric improvement at all. Maybe it depends on which game was the player's first experience with CD Projekt's Witcher universe.

Considering the only supposed lore we have on them is a completely fan made school that predated the announcement, my theory is that the actual School of the Lynx may just be Gezras's branch/the caravan. It sure sounds better than the super reaching theory of Lambert out of all people wanting to start a Witcher School. Did people forget about the conversations you have with him in Witcher 3, and the disdain he has for how he became a Witcher, and even the bitterness he still has just from being one?

But if we’re talking about Jack of all trades Witcher school. I would say they would learn to smith their own weapons and armors. As well as learn how to make their own enchanted weapons, and possibly use two weapons at a time, or one big one like letho in Witcher 2. As well as use stealth and more advanced potions and bombs (similar to what letho used in the cinematic on that ship.) as well as magic wise, it would be nice to use more than just signs, possibly magic spells like what triss and yennefer use.

My theory:
The School of Lynx created not long after the event of Witcher 3. Regardless of endings, conjunction of spheres still happened long enough to teleports many new creatures & a new Witcher school must be established. The new school located in Dragon Mountain, created not just by human, but other races too with elves & dwarves. The founders of the school are remnants of Lodge of Sorceresses including Yen, Triss, & Ciri (depend of the endings), with Geralt & possibly Lambert as Grandmasters. I know this read way too fan service-ish but logically there can be only a few well known witchers that are worthy to be grandmasters & created a new school, especially with the death of Vesemir, unless CDPR totally make new character that we know nothing of.
As for the concern with canon endings, personally I would consider the bad/death endings such as the death of Ciri as simply non canonical. Same thing with CP2077 with the unalive ending. My reasoning? It's a stoppage of the story arc so whether its canonical or not is irrelevant to a direct continuation of a story. Basically, the story sequel already predetermined on the accounts of massive important characters still survive from player's choices. Also, I don't think people will be disagree or dissatisfied since it's a bad ending essentially & I am sure the majority of players prefer to have Ciri to be alive. This type of sequel is not new & have been done before. For example, Drakengard & Nier series that practically a continuation from specific ending of the first game (Drakengard), albeit from one of the worst endings.
personally. I`d love to play using some of the traditional characters. especially Ciri. CDPR could make it work, and the desicions made during W3 are not even that the important. again this is a personal opinion.

I like the idea of Ciri Starting the school of the Lynx, but while you say it could be a mix between Wolf/Cat - If Ciri created it, it could also be something more akin to a spell sword with Ciri knowing some magic. I'm thinking Witchers who may not even undergo the transformation (which obviously wouldn't make as much sense) but more importantly perhaps Witchers who are more in tune with magic, being able to cast further spells than the signs as well as trained in melee combat.
This would also work if Lambert and Kiera created the school, one to train magic, one to train Combat.

I really like the idea I've seen of the Lynx school being founded in memory/honor of Ciri. For a long time I've speculated that if we got a new Witcher school for The Witcher 4, it will have been founded by Yen and/or Triss. And it doesn't need to have Lambert involved in training the recruits in Witcher combat; there's also Eskel.
I also love your analysis of the possible characteristics of Lynx school witchers based on irl lynx. Something else to consider is that in Native American folklore (a departure from the Slavic roots of The Witcher I know but it's something) is that lynx are considered a "keeper of secrets". So maybe the Lynx school is like the Viper school - founded with a greater threat than simple monsters in mind, and are also collecting lore on/researching that threat. Or they could simply be involved in collecting magical knowledge like the Griffin school was; this would also track if my Yen/Triss idea pans out.
As for how the game plays, I have two big wishes; first, is I would like to see the different sword styles from The Witcher 1 return. It may complicate combat a bit more than most would like, and while I can live without it, I love how different swordsmanship styles can make a world feel more expansive and lends a level of customization to players through their fighting styles. It could also add to the feeling of "newness" for a School of the Lynx; like, it's so young and inexperienced that it hasn't developed its own unique swordfighting style and identity, so it's pulling from mutliple influences. Second is I'd want to build on the crafting mechanics, namely where you don't have to dismantle loot from certain creatures, like Leshen resin or a fiend's eye, to get craftable components; maybe a tiered crafting system where more rare ingredients from more powerful creatures produces a more powerful item.
The eyes on the Lynx medallion are glowing, I know they did that with the wolf medallion too but in mythology the Lynx is believed to have supernatural eyes that uncover hidden truths, see through lies, and things like that. I doubt that Lynx Witchers can do that, but I do believe it's likely that the mythology of the lynx is going to factor in to why these Witchers are invoking this animal specifically.

Also, maybe I'm off base here but Witcher George is usually better about checking personal biases. I felt like he tried too hard to say what the fans want. Every fan has their own idea of what they want. For example, I know six people off the top of my head who'd love a Ciri led game.

If they do the you can chose what school you belong in theory you had I would imagine it wouldn’t change the story but would change the gameplay of the character for example school of the bear you would play a strong but slow character but if you choose school of the cat then you would be fast and stealthy but not physically strong

Day 1 patches may be the new norm but they shouldn't be. Paying for the game should be the full game in working FINISHED condition. I always felt like a game involving the school of the cat would be really cool, whether they are villains or we play as one doesn't really matter they are the most interesting school in my opinion. I hope it isn't a school founded by Ciri or something like that. Witchers are a dying breed and that's important to the lore, plus no more Wichers can be created. I'd rather have the game in the early era of the Witcher schools. Cat School was formed by a division of the Wolf School, maybe the Lynx School is kinda like that.
what if.... and hold your horses: its a lot earlier than the story of geralt like several centuries earlier right after the conjunction of spheres when there were a whole lot of witcher schools
My personal thought is that a second conjunction bringing in new more dangerous types of monster occurs which will force the survivors of each school to band together to re-form the order of witchers which existed before the creation of the schools. They then share information and begin to develop hybrid schools that follow the teachings of two or more previous witcher schools which become different divisions within the order handling different types of monsters in different areas. Given how it is very likely we'll get to create our own new witcher and how I'm pretty sure CD Projekt red won't fully abandon Geralt's accomplishments since they've only said that Geralt's story has ended, I think this would be more likely for Polaris to be a sequel than a prequel, it could also be fit in the renaisance era where the introduction of firearms like are just begining and they function similarily to our crossbow with improvements. It could even allow for the creation of female witchers, in terms of character creation, as the cat schools research into the creation process of witchers become shared.

early on, there was talk about making it fit for "modern audiences". Maybe that's what he means? With any luck they're looking at all the DEI money losers and are considering their choices wisely. The Witcher universe was always progressive on its own. I hope they put quality over agenda.

We don't need a female protagonist it's not In the lore period and what's been established is that girls couldn't survive the trials. It's one thing to make small changes to the lore like adding schools but that's tiny and doesn't really change the lore like a female witcher would. Just respect the lore it's not that hard and there is nothing wrong with it so stick with it
It is not hard indeed but the point is that their choices will trigger complains from some groups with their own ideology. So developpers have to adapt to avoid scadals etc (i.e: what Netflix does by choosing weird castings). I am not against that but as you underlined it, it must stay consistent with the established lore.
The girls cannot survive trials was really only truly established in one of the recent RPG books. Before it was speculated, but never confirmed. So it by itself is relatively new lore one and it's not impossible someone has figured out a new trial of grasses or some other method to make someone a witcher. Also what is even "lore period." It isn't our medieval era and even it there were women who managed to defy the usual expectations.
@@Kummitusv6lur iv read the actual books all 8 of them am actually reading them again now. It states in the books that they have tried the trials on girls and none have ever survived. Only 3 out of ten boys survive if girls could survive there would probably be more boys surviving. Now lore is what the creator of the Witcher says it is in his world that he created so people need to respect that. The witcher series on Netflix failed cause they wouldn't respect the lore or books it's also why Henry Cavill left. Again it is very easy to respect the source material and it should always be done. Maybe the School of the Lynx is a splinter group from the School of the Cat (since a lynx is a type of cat). Perhaps they disagreed with the Cats taking on assassination contracts and decided to form their on school.

I see a possibility of a Ciri founded Lynx school but instead of a trial of the grasses to mutate boys, she takes magically gifted boys and girls who learn to use their power in a limited way. Maybe they weren't gifted enough for the traditional sorcery schools, but they have enough power to simulate signs. Ciri could be the school founder but not the player character, she'd be the Vesimer of the story for your character.
My DREAM witcher game would be an MMO type, where you pick your school (class) and head out on the path taking contracts. While on the path you can run into other withers (co-op) and team up on contracts, but if you do you have to split the payment. Could be cool to create your own custom witcher
I really hope they go for some more survival elements with fires and camping stuff. Traveling is such an important thing in the witcher, and it's really lacking in the other games.
Your first theory was where my head went right before you said it. Not because I’m sold on it but because it works with the ‘updating’ narrative and allows for continuation the valuable IP to some extent. I’d love to see a prequel but I think the Ciri as possible empress and figure head just sounds . I’d love to explore the distant past and far flung lands and lore but I don’t see them wanting to reinvent the wheel that much.

I see it as more likely to come before the Witcher takes place. It seems like a possibility because the trail of the grasses is sorta being phased out or gone at the time of the books/games. I’d imagine it would even be pre books because I think they might be a bit cleaner when they tackle timeline shit
I think Ciri must be a protagonist in the Witcher 4; her being the heir of the throne of The North is just a means to an end; it sets her free "economicly". This would open the door for her to factually be the founder of the spin-off, The School of the Lynx.
They can bring anyone back by Gaunter O'Dimm giving a wish before he was sent back to his domain, and one request he tells them they need to create a new Witcher guild
My theory of where the school would or could be is this. Either 1. South of the Northen realms. The parts or the Continent. Past Nilfguard and possibly even further then that. 2. East of the great desert. Whe know less about what's over there then we do about what's south. They could do alot with that. Though that could do alot with 1. And what I think and would like to see. 3. It's set west past the great sea. Supposedly there is another continent off the map. I think it's mentioned a few times in the lore. Some people on the Reddit said it's where the Crain school is, but I don't know if that's true or not. I could definitely see a witcher. One of the the existing schools or one long ago when the witcher guild disbanded traveling south or west or east to establish their own school. Would make sense seeing it's a sort of mix between the wolf and cat. Something a witcher that came from a time before schools existed and witchers had specialties. Personally I'm hoping for across the sea. There is something so tantalizing about what lies beyond the edging of the map. Across vast stretches of ocean.
IF Polaris was to play after the Witcher saga, and Geralt having a minor role in the story seems to point to that, there is only one way this could happen. As Vesemir says, the creation of witchers stopped for a lack of elder blood. So it seems to me the only person who could found the school of the lynx is Siri (perhaps with the help of Yennefer, who showed remarkable knowledge about witcher alchemy). As the lynx is smaller than wolf and bear my guess would be that the school of the lynx is a female witcher school.
I agree that it is not a good idea to make Siri the main protagonist for various reasons. I could imagine we start with a young female witcher of the school of the lynx. This would pose a significant challenge to introduce a new character and make people love her as much as Geralt, but it is not impossible.
It took me THIS long to stop seeing a screeching Griffin in that medallion teaser poster. I always thought it was a Griffin with its mouth open and the lower beak is buried in the snow, but only now have I noticed the nose and the mouth engravings on what I thought to be the top beak, with what I thought to be the stretched cheeks being the ruff (the extra long tufts of fur on the neck) of the Lynx. In my defence, the ruff looks very long on the medallion and previous medallions have the iconography of their School's animal screeching/snarling in some way, but not the Lynx.
But hey, now I know what a "ruff" is on a Lynx.
I think it's going to be a mix of 3 schools focused on the wolf but a touch of the cat and viper,my thoughts being geralts will fuse all the dying schools into one succeeding chapter.
The Cat Whicher school is the most interesting as it’s members have a reputation amongst Whichers similar to that that all Whichers have amongst humans. There is alot of prejudice abou them but its members are neither weak nor are they mindless killers. I love the fact that this school focuses on speed and agility and critical hits instead of raw power and that it has so much deapth and mystery around it. Other schools are very streight forward as to their chosen path. The cat school seems like it operates in the shadows and because it does it is shrouded in myth, legend and prejudice. I wonder if the Lynx school has some connection to the cat school and explorers the lore of what happened to its members. It is an interesting trope to explore. I wouldn’t be surprised that the cat school exists in the shadows as some covert wchool while the lynx school is some reincarnation of the cat school.
I want a whole world with multiple schools that you can choose to be a part of! they were locked in with Geralt, but now its wide open, we can be our own witcher in the world.

Well, everyone keeps forgetting that. Just because the schools shut down doesn't necessarily mean everyone passed away. If I remember correctly a few people escaped and who knows, maybe so old Masters decided to remake a new school and heck this might be a whole new area. We might go further west or south
Personally, I want the trilogy to be so far in the future that the lynx school was set up to protect the frontier on the other side of the sea/mountains to really empower cdpr with more creative license. They did a great job imho with the first trilogy so it would be cool to see wholly in house creations for the second to really push lore nerd like myself to new places.
The School of the Lynx is going to be one of the first ever Witcher schools to be formed after the Conjunction of the Spheres.
Perhaps the Lynx School is a new witcher school, but rather that making new witchers it instead is an amalgamation of witchers from other (now destroyed) schools.

I don't know if its a hot take but I can't see Ciri forming a new school. I find the idea that Ciri, Geralt would actively want to create new Witchers kinda strange, given the trauma of the Trials of the Grasses Geralt and the other Witchers carry. I found it especially strange during the intro of Witcher 1 with the new Witcher recruit character being trained by Vesemir. Training Ciri is kinda an exception because well she could use the training given her value as a political hostage and that its one of the few ways Vesemir and Geralt could relate to Ciri. Geralt has little experience with kids and Vesemir didn't really raise Geralt and Eskel in the most normal setting. I feel Ciri must also know some of what happened and what the Trials were like. Unless ofc she makes Witchers that do not go through the Trials.
18:40 Literally my biggest pet peeve with the recent Assassins Creed games. I hate that they do it. Theres no point and it breaks the fundamental lore elements of the entire franchise. You're reliving history so its either it happened or it didn't...point blank period. There's no room for interpretation, choices or embellishing. It is literally set in stone. And we're not talking about if the character played a mini game or not we're talking about the very identity of the person youre playing as. Thats a pretty big deal 🤷♂️

I think the school of the lynx will take place during the Golden age of The witchers. And they will be a small, yet effective school unlike the larger more popular schools.
I think it would be pretty kickass to play as Ciri. She is a little bit too OP though so that might cause some issues. I can't see her not being in the game though, we spent like 3 whole games not knowing where she went and we finally get her back in TW3. It'd be kinda shitty to wrap her story up that quickly

The Witcher game I would like to see takes place 100-150 years before W3 during the heyday of witchers and monsters. You create your own Witcher and choose your school and specialty. The main loop of the game would be grinding monster contracts or mercenary jobs to work your way up in the world, get involved in political intrigue etc. maybe interact with some older established characters. You wouldn’t see all the familiar faces but you would learn a lot more about the history of the Witcher world. It would give you a better perspective of the later books and games to experience the backstory.
It would be cool if Lynx witchers could use Aard on themselves and jump incredibly high to attack flying enemies or to deal quick but massive blows on ground enemies
It might be next game all remaining witcher schools joined together to train and carry on the teachings of the schools and that the player character could pick which schools training and teachings they follow in the start kinda like the cyberpunk 2077 life paths.
Edit : maybe lynx school could be a school we just never have heard off from further a field of the lands we know about and could be a new school choice if my previous statement is true
I’d prefer it to be based before the main timeline. At least as early as Vesemir’s youth. But if it has to move forward I think it being founded in honor of Ciri would work for the ending issue.
As far as a female Witcher protagonist I think it would be interesting to make her like Geralt in that she’s the product of a new experiment of the process so the lore isn’t exactly changed as much as further developed.
