Hi Andrew, Thanks for the video as always. I like the pickeroon for 12" to 14" rounds and a Hookroon for larger rounds and small logs. Last year I bought a pike. It works great for split pieces. And, the three all give me a head start on ol' Mr. Sneaky Snake! Lol
I have a Log Ox and love it for saving my back. Sometimes if you bump the cant hook on a wood block already on the log lift it comes off the wood easier. I have dozens of heavy steel cans/totes that I load into and it gets the wood close to where I need it. Sometimes I use a pulp hook to snatch the blocks out of the wood cans. It looks like a hay hook.
I have a Log Ox and am very glad I bought it a couple years ago. At 60 years old, being able to save my back most of the bending over has been awesome. We have unlimited dead Ash on the farm. I use it to pick up some very big rounds, even if it takes both hands to lift on the splitter. Very well made tool.
I made my own pickaroon out of an old ax,, I saw one way up in the GWN and fell in love with the damn thing so I made on,, Now that Log OX I can see a ton of thing that could be used for,, keep up the good work
Great video Andrew, it's always nice to see videos online of the LogOX Hauler coming in handy and being used alongside great power equipment! We've actually developed a pickaroon attachment of our own called a PickOX. It has a replaceable hardened steel tip featuring a "keyhole" design that tapers to a sharp point with a slight ridge underneath, which makes it easy to sink/lock into even frozen wood, but also easy to release. It fits snugly into the end of the cant handle extension that comes with the 3-in-1 Forestry MultiTool. I'll have to hook you up with one at the next Bunyan along with a LogOX belt holster, so you don't have to hold onto the Hauler while operating your splitter. Thanks again for the great video man! -Austin #TeamLogOX
Thanks for posting your review of the pickaroon and log ox tools. I’ve been looking for a tool just such as the log ox in order to assist me in handling firewood blocks for splitting. I have a home made pickaroon but find it difficult to carry any significant weight due to a weak grip as a result of arthritis.
I have a log ox and a stihl cant hook and log stand which is actually made by logrite. The cant hook is great for keeping the log off the ground while cutting for those of us that don't have a skid steer😁. That saw is rockin and rolling, is that a 572xp?
You looked like a natural with the pickaroon and awkward as hell with log ox lol... I have both, the log ox really shines out on the trail or in the Bush, the pickaroon is best for keeping the machine fed.
Great video. Thanks. My thought is the pickaroon maybe the better tool. It seems like a person can use it to push or pull wood, split wood into a certain place if wanted. The log ox is slick but not as use full I don’t think. You said the log ox had other uses thou, but I don’t think you showed that. Any way, my pick would be the pickaroon. Nice to see something, Made in Canada.
Thanks for the video on the log ox and pickaroon, I can see how having both would be good.I cant find either in NZ. Stihl shop have a pickeroon type tool which would probably be fine. Say what's that firebox doing smoking away out in the middle of the firewood site?
I don't have a pickaroon yet, but use the log rite can't hook for milling. I also have the LogOx, but wish I didn't since it isn't the most practical for my uses with a tractor and other equipment. A pickaroon would serve me better.
Just my opinion. For me, at the wood pile, making and splitting rounds I'd be using a Pickaroon. At 6'4" I'd like not to bend down as much as possible and the longer handle of the Pickaroon does that. The Log Ox I feel would be a great tool out in the field when dropping timber and bucking up in the woods.
I think they both have there place in the firewood industry, but at this time I think my opinion would be just like yours not having used either one, but having handled 15 cords by hand in the last few months, less bending is definitely an advantage!
Ween the two sizes I’m thinking of which would you recommend and why/ thanks I like the pickeroon/hookeroon you are using. I’m looking between their 36” and their 48”unit. Which was the size you were using? Bet
Well looking at your body movement I think the LogOx uses less back muscles and conserves more energy. It also seemed to stay closer to your body instead of having on the end of a pic. This was a great comparison. In my mind the LogOx was the winner, just by watching your body work with the two tools.
hi there just saw this video . both look like good tools but not for me that way sorry to much walking from pile to splitter . put the rounds in a big bucket get rid of the log lift and put a table there and set the bucket on the table pickaroom them straight on to the splitter . no walking back and forth . did you get the e/m i sent you on a table method john
Used at a controlled pace, the log ox lets you handle bigger pieces with less effort, but the pickaroon is much faster and more efficient on the smaller pieces. I'm seeing the pickaroon as something a younger person might favor, while the log is something an older, more relaxed worker would favor.
Andrew, I searched the comments to see if you mentioned the pickaroon length, but didn't see it. Is that the 36"? I'm trying to figure out if I would do better with a 30" or 36". Thanks! 👍
Now both of my channels are subscribed to yours and gave you two big 👍🏻👍🏻. I’ll be using my hookaroon and Ultra splitter in my livestream today that will be starting in a hour or so.
i have used many picks i do have a log ox i got when timberwolf sent me there alfa-5 dont really care for the ox because the pick you can drag and lift with it! fiskars has been my choice :o
Personally i own a fiskars pikaroon and a log ox. The log ox is a nice tool but i think the weoght of the unit itself is a little prohibitive. For example i got one for my mom and she has a hard time one handing rounds and the log ox tool. But i like it. My mom actually likes the log lift feature of the log ox the best allowing her to chainsaw rounds a little safer and easier.
looked like a 550xp and a562xp I love the speed of the saws! Lightweight easy to flip and cut all day. I have a 550xp and I much prefer it over my 372xp In bucking all day
Ed Rem, as large a log round as you could pick up by hand. For larger logs, you can use it to drag log rounds to your vertical splitter or hydraulic lift.
you prolly dont give a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch all the new movies on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend lately =)
I bought 2 of the garret wade pickeroons with wood handles, as much as I like logrite stuff the heavier headed cast unit sticks so much easier. I don't even use the logrite anymore. www.garrettwade.com/great-american-cross-cut-saw-and-pickaroon.html I'm sure they are rebranded but they really work well. I have the Logrite arch and log rollers, they make really nice stuff.

Man do I hate dealing with cutting logs that are piled on top of each other, you make it look easy.

Will give it a try. Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day!!!!
Thanks nice video I like the pick where can I buy

Great seeing you back Andrew. Always looking forward to the videos. Oh yeah, the best splitter in the industry.
Thanks for the feedback mike. Finally got all the equipment up and running in the shop. Should be able to post a video every week now

After seeing them both in video bought both best investment yet besides the 12-22 splitter that I just bought can’t wait to get it

The log ox should be the answer for you. They work great
Great video Andrew. I definitely need to get one of those 2 to save my back
Either work great

562..just a wee guy
Hey Andrew love your Chanel thanks agin for the spilter
It was great to meet you yesterday ben. Good luck with the Ultra!!!
Hey Andrew she runs great
I would go with the pickeroon
You looked like a natural with the pickaroon and awkward as hell with log ox lol... I have both, the log ox really shines out on the trail or in the Bush, the pickaroon is best for keeping the machine fed.

Thats the outdoor furnace. It has a water jacket around the outside of it and then the water get pumped through the floor or the shop.
Great video! That saw was cutting great, both of those tools should would be handy on the wood pile! Man you have the ultimate setup :) take care!
Thanks for the feedback
I have Fiskars hookaroon and the best use that I have found for it is for pulling blocks out of my truck.
would work great for that joe
I don't have a pickaroon yet, but use the log rite can't hook for milling. I also have the LogOx, but wish I didn't since it isn't the most practical for my uses with a tractor and other equipment. A pickaroon would serve me better.
Been using a pickeron for a long time. Don’t know what I’d do without it
Saves a lot of bending. That's for the feedback

You'll love it

This was a great comparison. In my mind the LogOx was the winner, just by watching your body work with the two tools.
Also had a company send me a “Pinch-A-Log” tool, it worked ok on small blocks but you just might as well bend over and pick them up by hand.

Both are in the Eastonmade colors...it is a tough choice!

It's a 36"
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters Thank you very much sir!
Peaveys and hookaroons are great when you need them!
What do you do with all of the firewood? Are you also in the wood business?
We just burn it in our outdoor furnace.
Now both of my channels are subscribed to yours and gave you two big 👍🏻👍🏻. I’ll be using my hookaroon and Ultra splitter in my livestream today that will be starting in a hour or so.
Sounds great joe. Will try and catch some of it
Maintenance and repair issues? Replaceable pick tip if broken or dull?
Does the Picaroon have a replaceable tip in case it is broken or gets dull?
@@jakebredthauer5100 Yes Jake, it does. $12 from Logrite if needed. I bought mine with an extra tip from the get go.
We sell a hardened steel replaceable tip for our PickOX Pickaroon attachment for $6.95 on our website.
i have used many picks i do have a log ox i got when timberwolf sent me there alfa-5 dont really care for the ox because the pick you can drag and lift with it! fiskars has been my choice :o
I find you almost need both of them. The log ox is really good for the smaller stuff and the pickaroon work great for dragging the big rounds
I bought the the package with all include, works great
They are really handy.
Personally i own a fiskars pikaroon and a log ox. The log ox is a nice tool but i think the weoght of the unit itself is a little prohibitive. I have a 562 and a 372. Really like the 562 for working in the bush and the 372 for the wood pile
Is there a saw stop mechanism on that pickerroon for when it hits your shin. Ouch!
Lol wish there was. It hurts when it catches your shin!
We used to ask the same question Eric.
@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters wear some snake 🐍 shields with them
I’m getting the log rite next week
I like both as well.
I really like both.
All could think was, now that's a push plate and cylinder; wholly cripes!
It's a big one
i have a log ox but like my fiskers pick better
I find both have their place depending on what I'm doing. Thanks for the feedback really appreciate it
Can’t be having 666 thumbs up…. And what is I’ve recommended top speed of you 13” tires/splitters, have not seen it mentioned. Thank you
Thanks for the info. Vere good set up.
Thanks for the feedback bill. Very much appreciated
Thanks god bless
What diameter round can be picked up with the Log Ox hauler?
Ed Rem, as large a log round as you could pick up by hand. For larger logs, you can use it to drag log rounds to your vertical splitter or hydraulic lift.
I was going to shoot you a massage to see who made your pick then this video popped up in my feed!
Trade the Terex for the JCB?
Yep....the terex just wasnt quite heavy enough to do what we do now.
I can see where the log ox would be a great tool for a guy with a non hydraulic saw mill
you prolly dont give a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch all the new movies on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend lately =)
@Evan Max yup, I have been watching on Instaflixxer for since november myself :)
The blue tool is a terrible way of picking wood, it throws your body completely out of shape and could give you lots of niggling or painful injuries.
I bought 2 of the garret wade pickeroons with wood handles, as much as I like logrite stuff the heavier headed cast unit sticks so much easier. I don't even use the logrite anymore. www.garrettwade.com/great-american-cross-cut-saw-and-pickaroon.html
