Thank you so much for your information, extremely helpful. I've been keto for 10 months and once I got close to my goal I got cold hands and feet. I am also about 185lbs, and 10-12% body fat. Thanks for all of your great videos, you make it very easy to understand keto + if!
@@drekberg I have been doing Keto OMAD for about 3 months now with good results. I recently started a 7 day water fast and I get cold. I wasn’t cold doing OMAD but now I’m getting cold on the extended fast. Is it the same thing?
Your comments re: what to do when you are dropping too far beneath goal weight are much appreciated and no one seems to talk about it. My goal is health, not losing more weight. I'm at the bottom of the normal BMI range and I'm getting a little too thin--and cold. Thanks.
I love your channel. You have a simple way of explaining complex information. I had an ah-ha moment when you explained why our metabolism/body naturally adjusts to our own body fat on keto. The human body is simply amazing if we treat it right. Keep doing all that you do 😊
Thank you Audrey. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it. Feel free to ask questions and keep watching the videos as you will see the big picture over time.
I watched this video when it came out and I thought... "Good to know." Then today in a Facebook Keto for women's group someone asked if "Feeling cold was normal for Keto" and she has just started doing Keto recently. So I shared your video on the comment thread of her question. How timely. Thanks for all that you do. ;-)
You have such a wonderful way of making topics you present so clear. I've been on Keto since mid January this year and started IF beginning February. I find this new lifestyle not difficult and sustainable. But I have noticed in the past week or so that I am feeling colder, especially my hands, although I normally am not cold sensitive. We prefer around 19°C. Lately I am surprised to see the thermometer showing 19.5 or 20° and for me it feels like it is cold, as if it were 17 or so. I have been changing up my routine lately to OMAD now and again and perhaps a 24hr fast at some point (normally do 16/8). I've lost half the weight I hoped for but have another4-5 kilos to go...am losing very slowly but happy clothes fit much better now. Thanks to your explanation, I understand what is happening and for me it is probably just a phase until I am fat adapted. (I thought I was already as I am never hungry and Jan-Feb was much colder here than now and I did not have that feeling of being cold.). Thank you for your work!
Thank you. I’ve been IF for 18 months. I’ve gone from 235lbs (25%BF) down to 195lbs (15%BF). I’ve been experiencing cold symptoms (day and night) for about 8 months and simply couldn’t figure out why. I’m also cold at night but sweating under too many covers. Sounds like my body is telling me it’s ok to open my meal window a little wider to get some more calories in. Thank you for the information.
Interesting information! I recently done a 6 day water fast for autophagy and stem cell activation, starting on the 3rd day I got really sensitive to cold , I had to put more clothes on me. Guess the body went into conservation mode. I am around 10% body fat and I am a very active person, on carnivore diet for 5 months after 1 year keto
for me thats a decisive video, i ve always been afraid of bringing my metabolism down, was afraid of the yoyo effect. Now i know as long as i m fat adpated and i have enough fat stored (and i have!!) no reason to fear eating a little less, thx dr.
I've been on a keto/medically assisted weight loss diet for 3 months and still get cold quite a bit. I'm losing weight though, generally between 2-3 lbs per day I'm down 35 lbs so far. My meals are mostly eggs w/egg whites and green veggies, and either ground turkey sausage or regular bacon. Then lunch/dinner is either salmon and green veggies, or sirloin steak with green veggies, and lunch is usually boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs with fruit and veggies (low carb fruit like berries, half an avocado, and greens). If I have dessert, it's a choc zero bar or homemade ice cream (organic full cream low-pasteurized dairy) with erythritol and monk fruit sweetener. I still get big time chocolate cravings (actual chocolate, doesn't have to have sugar in it). I also still drink coffee with 2 tablespoons of half and half. No cheese (or very little cheese) and I have quest bars for when I'm really hungry because sometimes I'm out of the house for 8 hours and have nothing. I'm eating around 1000 calories per day so I assumed the cold is from calorie restriction and because I don't eat at the same times every day. I'd love to know more about how to become fat adapted, because I must not be if I'm cold and tired.
started keto again after 7 or 8 months of falling off. day 3 today, I've been feeling cold since day 2. 😫 can't wait to get into that fat burning mode.
Thank you for your video's Dr Ekberg, I always find them informative and helpful. There are so many keto bashers out there and misinformation, I always look forward to your videos.
Great video. Now I'm wondering if my one meal a day could explain why I'm feeling colder this winter. I am good when I'm inside but I'm not tolerating outdoor time as well as I did last year. Thanks for the insight!
I am full from eating in a 2 hr window and fast for 22 hours and never feel hungry but have not lost any weight other than water in the beginning! My feet, toes and fingers are always cold since doing keto and i sleep great and have no digestion issues! I feel so good that i'm not concerned with weight loss as much as my health issues disappearing day by day which they are as i'm in healing mode! Just wish my feet were warmer when sleeping!
Since going low carb and caloric restriction, I've gotten my BMI down to 21 and I've really noticed my hands and feet get cold quite often now. Even while in a 70F house.
I’ve been OMAD/KETO for a year and every morning my body is like a furnace. One thing I have added as a bio hack is hot/cold therapy in addition to hot yoga and that has increased my body thermostat sensitivity also throwing in some arctic plunges occasionally.
I was hoping you would address coldness while fasting. I am currently on a 48-hour fast. At about 38 hours in, almost every time (I fast twice a month), I get very cold--hands and feet. Other videos I have seen say this has to do with blood moving to the center of your body to in a way turn white fat into brown fat, and the coldness is a sign that fat burning is occurring in the belly and not metabolism slow-down. Which is it? They also say that caffeine will help with this. About to go have some coffee now.
This is so awesome. I like that you are dealing with every subject from several different points of view. I am hungry... of these high quality full of wisdom videos :)
Thank you whyshouldidothatnow. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it. My goal with the channel is to cover the big picture from as many angles as possible.
@@drekberg I am from Poland, but I have an uncle in US, who is quite known in Knoxville from his clinic, who is much into healthy lifestyle. I've heard from him a lot about gluten free diet, sugar free diet, about milk free diet but I've never heard about keto diet. I must send him a link to your channel that he might discover this keto diet miracle :)
I got out of ketosis over the holidays, and I am trying to get back into it now. I am usually hot, but last night my legs were freezing 20 hrs into a fast, and I have been doing 18 IF EOD for the last week. This is taking longer to get into ketosis than the 1st time I did this. I know I am doing the right thing, so I will keep at it.
Hi Doc. ..makes sense to me...very good info in layman's terms...I have been working in minus 30 outside and being in ketosis has kept me warm until I eat too many carbs ...I fall off the wagon lots...then I have a cycle of ravenous hunger and cold and tired until I get back to peeing ketone again...I'll figure this out one day...but do enjoy the different mindset of ketosis...Alot sharper thinking....I'll just need to be more disciplined ....thankyou so much for all you teach😊
This can’t be the only reason. I’m 3 months into keto-then-carnivore, I must be fat adapted(my breath and urine tell me I am). I get cold daily around hour 14-18 of fasting. And in an EF of 3-5 days, I’m so cold each night, I can’t sleep. I have to force myself out of bed, which is a big deal because I’m so cold, to get a heating pad. I saw something else about white fat being converted to visceral for burning, since visceral burns at a faster rate. I’m hoping that’s the reason? Or broken neuro-transmitters? If so, I hope THAT resolves.
If you are only on one meal a day, have a bulletproof coffee for breakfast and lunch - just that little burst of fat (which will not cause an insulin response) may be enough to keep your thermostat up-regulated.
Interesting. I've never been overweight, but before I did OMAD, mostly keto, I ate the Mediterranean diet, had eczema, mild asthma....and I was always, always freezing cold. My thyroid was normal so doctors had no explanation and I continued to suffer and freeze. After gaining weight in the pandemic, I went on OMAD--mostly keto, with way more protein and fat than I had ever eaten. My goal was to lose 6 pounds. Well, I lost 14 without trying. Today my BMI is 20.2. I'm back to college weight, and I'm 64 years old. And the best thing yet-- I'm never cold anymore! I have more energy, I'm more focused and I've never felt better. My gut sometimes protests all the fat, so that's my only challenge. But overall, this has been a miracle.
Started losing weight a year ago with the ocasional low carb meals water fasting every once in a while and regulars visits to the gym. Have been doing One meal a day for years. If body fat calipers are to believed I am about 10% body fat but I have a huge beer bellly. Mostly because I did consume moderate to high amounts of alchol frequently. I decided to try carnivore because I have some slight autoimmune issues and wanted to get rid of the beer belly. After 10 days I can say my limbs turn into ice in mild cold. Also I am strugling to keep one meal a day often being quite hungry by late afternoon while before I had no troble even skipping a day. Beer belly has gone down quite a lot but its still not close to a flat stomach. Getting a no carb meal in fixes the problem for the night.
Thanks for the excellent information. When I have tried extended fasts in the past (following a period of LCHF eating and average weight loss), I could never get beyond 3 days without severe chills. It would seem that after a sufficient time eating low carb, the body would be fat-adapted and should be able to fast for *several weeks* while feasting on body fat. If I experience chills during an extended fast, what should I be doing differently to force fat-adaptation? And is it true that with enough body fat, a fat-adapted person could go for weeks without eating?
Hi Dr Ekberg! Thank you for this update and advice. BTW, Congrats for having 20K sub! I recalled when I sub to your channel you were then, only less than 2 k subs. Look forward to more informative video from you too...
Thank you for the video. This helped me a lot😊 Actually I was facing this issue.. I used to feel very cold in my office in the mornings where as everyone said they feel very normal. i feel very tensed as i couldn't figure out the issue.. i now understand this. IF might be the issue. I will also check my thyroid if everything is alright. really thanks for the video.
Goodness! This was SO HELPFUL. I’m not “exactly” doing keto. But I’ve been doing intermittent fasting and I’ve lost my appetite (I think that’s why) so I’ve been eating less calories than normal and training harder. This morning I finished a 36 hour fasting, ate some breakfast, nothing huge. I went to take a nap because I started feeling exhausted and when I woke up I was a block of ice. (I still am, although better) so I made a bowl of hot oatmeal with peanut butter. I almost feel a bit feverish too. This resonates with the metabolic crash you mention. Now, I’m wondering if the hot oatmeal was the best thing I could’ve given my body rather than just pure fat. Does it matter?
This is definitely helpful I've been on keto for a week now, eating between 460-890 Cal's a day under 20 carbs. As well as intermitent fasting and I am always freezing, obviously not fat adapted yet I need to lose 70lbs.
@@spandanabuddhavarapu841 Thanks so much for this sorry to inform you I was on keto for 2 months apparently not long enough I did lose 12 lbs in a week in a half water weight I think i was working out and fasted for 3 days and stopped losing wasn't hungry at all or interested in food anymore but kept working out I also wqs and am dealing with mia thats been going on for 16 yrs so maybe thats why I stopped losing sorry to disappoint
@@bunnbun_thatgothchic5271 P.S: after reading your second comment, it's not about weight loss. It can be a nice side effect if needed but the primary focus is and should be health. I personally am used to fasting but had never managed to stay on keto very long. I was eating way too much carbs and processed foods/ sugar as I realized I had become insulin resistant. I cut out the things listed out and now starting keto. I had tried keto and IF before and was actually gaining weight bc of the cortisol, I had a hectic schedule with morning/ evening and night shift in the same week which takes a toll on hormones. Anyway, so hope you are recovering from mia. Would seek deliverance if still dealing with it.

WOW, you have answered a question, I have had an issue with for the past month, cranked up heat the last 3 weeks, because under afghan, socks, slippers, jacket still cold. I just had blood work the 19th; quit all my meds Thanksgiving, 2018 including armor thyroid. have taken thyroid meds for 2 decades. synthroid for 15 and armor last 5. I have over 100 pounds to lose, I will work on being fat adapted. I have heard of fat adapted, but not as good explanation as this, thanks I have done dirty keto for about 4 months, not as strict as I have been the last month, but quit following macros, about 20-50 g of carbs a day 16:8 or 18:6 IF and have done 3 - 72 hour fasts, first weekend of the new month. Trying to clean up the keto foods. Just found you yesterday, I have binged for the last 2 days.
I'm 93 hours into a fast (3 days 21 hours), and I feel GREAT and I have tons of energy (doing light aerobic exercise and my regular daily routine). Before this I've been doing OMAD for 7 weeks. So, it _seems_ I am fat adapted. And I've never had a thyroid problem. BUT, I'm FREEZING especially when I go to bed. Any ideas about what is causing that? Thank you, Dr. Ekberg! You're my GO-TO doctor online! Shalom P.S. I'm a 51 yo female weighing 113 lbs at 5'2". I'm fasting specifically to heal my leaky gut and histamine intolerance.
Thanks for posting this. I’ve been doing Keto and OMAD for a month and got down to below 15% body fat and now I’m freezing even though the temperature is in the 70s. I guess I have to go back to doing 16/8 IF.
I've been doing cold training and cold exposures for 3 years. Started doing fasting, both daily IF and occasionally longer (1-5 days) fasts. I've heard a lot grom the fasting community that one gets cold while fasting because blood is being diverted to fat storage... Your explanation makes more sense to me though. I usually start to get a little cold around 18 hours fasted and during longer fasts I am very cold intolerant. After re-feed and a few hours of digestion I am back to my normal and can do full cold exposures again, so I'm not worried about thyroid function.
Youll get cold once you are fat adapted though , just saying. Its both. It is caused by lack of blood flow to fingers/feet caused by the blood flowing more to organs and your stomach. Test this by feelin how warm your stomach is compared to feet/hands. Thats how you know if its fat adaption causing the cold. Lost over 1 ft around my waiste in 8 months.. so
I've been doing keto for fourteen months and I've been feeling cold lately it's really scaring me tbh 😔 I'm 218lbs and 5/9 I'm classed as obese and ever since I've been doing 1500 calories a day I've been feeling cold. Like my chest most of the time..
I just came out of a 3 day fast on Saturday. I ate just a lil salad at noon, then ate short ribs at dinner yesterday but today-Sunday and I’m not hungry yet. I’m fat adapted but I’m freezing, even got my 2 American bulldogs laying next to me!!!
Hi there 😊. Love to learn from your videos about health. I joined the keto dieters a few months ago. Wanted to ask you about the 20 grams of carbs you mentioned in the video. Did u mean 20 net carbs or 20 total carbs in order to get into Ketosis and get fat adapted? Thank you 🙏
Brilliant! Thanks.... I am lean and following Keto.... and I am also doing OMAD and have run into energy problems... this is very helpful and educational. Your explanation makes solid sense to me. thank you very much
Hmm, I am lean and on omad keto (40) days in and my energy levels are amazing every day. From day 7 to now are pretty consistent, are you eating enough fat?
I don't see how this can be true as people who have been fasting for years such as Dr Fung and Megan Ramos say that they get cold when they fast. I am in an EF now on day four and my ketones last night were 7.1 (highest result for me) and I am cold. I feel tfat adapted.
Like Dr. Fung says in his book on diabetes, intermittent fasting typically does not cause a dramatic reduction in BMR, however, I imagine that if you go long enough that the body will start to conserve resources.
7:22 - This happened to me. I was doing OMADs and just rolling along, and then I got cold (which had never happened because I live in Mexico). A little extra butter later, and voilà! I felt much better! 💪😎👍
Mine is due to a side effect of a pill I'm taking I struggle to eat 1200 calories and about 100g carbs, I'm a runner with an average speed of 10.2kph. The effects were immediate I'm so cold. I'm miserable. Wishing I'd a fireplace in my apartment and too weak to even go for a walk. It's not helped by the fact I've a slow heart rate as well. The other pill would have dropped it to forties high 30s. I've to force feed myself altered sense of taste and tiredness. Stopped walking altogether due to exhaustion. I'm going to neurologist to hopefully find root cause of migraines as no-one knows at this stage. It's upsetting.
I’m doing OMAD carnivore, lost 50lbs, my ketone level is around 3, but from the beginning and still right now my hands and feet are still cold. Is there anything I could do? Would it be my thyroid, then? Something I could tweak with my food? Thank you so much for your content!
Thank you for you information I'm looking this video because I started seriously fasting and keto. I have been only 14 days. Working wiht a nutrionist in this field of fast and keto. I lost I little weight not much 600 grams. But the thing is that I started feeling cold in the summer heat 2023 of Arizona. Yes I have hypothyroid issues but never felt cold. Yes I am type 2 diabetic. The doctor told, dont skip meals. Eat your 3 meals within your window period of 8 hours. So not sure if I'm not eating a lot of food and need more. Or just wait until I trully get fat adapted? Somebody nows how long takes to get fat adapted? Thank you
My problem is having to drink warm drinks all day just to stay warm. Then at bed time freezing to the point of being in pain. THEN waking up at 3am having a thermonuclear meltdown in a puddle of sweat. 😒.
I started keto diet around Jan 23rd. Threw away a few pounds, but still long way to go. About twice a week I do intermittent fast from noon to noon. I would like to extend the hours but find myself getting very cold and kind of jittery. So, at present, it seems I can't go beyond 24 hours of fast. No, I don't have any problem with thyroid. perhaps I need to wait a bit longer for my body to get fat adapted. I do eat plenty of fat in the form of coconut butter, ghee and olive oil and also some meat. I find it very hard to give up yogurt something I grew up eating almost daily. I use it plain adding some nuts, blueberries, chiya and poppy seeds. Would appreciate your response. Thanks a lot.
I am 185-85 and sometimes in the mornings when I am driving to work my hands are getting cold and I am forced to heat them up with the help of heating system of the car. But after drinking my keto coffee at 8 am my hands are getting warm again. How to deal with this situation ( I am 59 years old, maybe that is the reason).
Now what am I supposed to do I ate over 5k calories and it's the next day and I'm still hungry. I don't think eating that much is going to keep the fat off me no matter what type of diet I follow.
I have experienced a slightly different situation: on OMAD each time I re-feed I tend to feel cold afterwards more than before. Is it because of digestion?
I used to think this was true, but this doesn't seem accurate at all. I am currently a bit heavier (20% BF) I have plenty of fat, fat adapted and am always cold when I am near my 12th+ hour of IF. Just a fact. I bundle up. I have had this issue for YEARS... I have it at 9% BF and at 20% BF whenever I restrict calories, period. Doesn't matter if it it KETO or not.
We had a solid week of heat over 30⁰C and on Wednesday it hit 43⁰C for around an hour, Thursday it went down to 25, Friday and today Saturday it's been under 20⁰c anyway point is, I had no carbs/ sugar and felt horrible Thursday, still new to keto so I ate a sandwich. Felt way better, but got back on the path and today around 6pm I had a cold snap internally. I normally never feel cold... Anyway that's why I seeked this video out. On Thursday I also did a lot of activity which probably crashed my glycogen reserves.
What about SNP's that impact ones abiity to metabolise fat for energy and to create heat? Would seriously apreciate your viewpoint Dr Sten Ekberg because i have relevant SNPs plus a Leptin receptor SNP and i get so hypothermic i cant think straight and i cant sustain keto
I KNEW IT insulin resistance is why you get cold, when your fully fat adapted though and insulin resistance is gone your heat production is kept up though when you feel cold your heart beat lowers and you will live longer therefore. Kids LiKE MYself oxidize fat 30-40% for energy while exercising verses adults
Hi stillbesideyou you probably want to watch this video th-cam.com/video/TOTZDjAyar0/w-d-xo.html How long to reverse insulin resistance. Hope this helps.
I always tought that it is because you are producing more heat. Higher body temperature leads to sensation of cold just like when you get fever. Or that's what I thought.
Sir can we achieve metabolic flexibility by switching from ketosis to glycolysis every now and then? Or are we driving our body crazy by doing so? Would love to hear your opinion on this.
So I have Pcos and started keto 4-5 days ago. I’m FREEZING and feel like garbage. I’m also restricted my calories 3wk before going keto. I’ve been doing a LOT of research and I’m worried bc I do have some what of a fatty liver and slightly elevated cholesterol and worried that keto will be worse for me then good... but with PCOS this could be a normal symptom with my liver and not necessarily high fat diet. Do you have any advice on this. Also how do you feel about carb cycling? I’ve only lost 4lbs dieting for 3wks so I’m pretty frustrated.
I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance, thyroid disorder (T3:rt3 imbalance), pcos, adrenal fatigue, and type 2 diabetes. I have been cold my entire life, even when I was nearly 100 pounds overweight. I’ve lost 67 pounds in the last 7 months by eating up to 30g total carbs a day on a pretty clean diet; 99% of my carbs come from above ground veggies and nuts, seeds, and healthy fats. I average between 500-750 calories deficit each day. I eat this way to manage my blood sugar without medicine, and bc I still have 30-40 pounds to lose. My blood sugar is well controlled. I’m so tired of being cold. I’m assuming the 20g he mentioned was net carbs? Am I not in ketosis? Should I knock my carbs down to 20 total per day? Would that help me be warmer?
Doctor, I have asked you about feeling cold on fasting on your video which you posted yesterday on hypertension and I got my answer, it was due to lack fuel. Will this get you into autophagy and how long shud I prolong fasting under such circumstances. Also I want to know if the body use the muscles for fuel if you are not feeding.
I get the keto rash and websites say that is an indication of you being in ketosis. I also get keto flu symptoms. As I type this, I have NO energy. I'm nauseous, (threw up a little last night), cold( It's Cali summer but any breeze makes me feel like it is around 65 deg), and have full body fatigue. I have plenty of fat to burn. Knowing that I have had the keto rash and have the keto flu with being cold, am I in ketosis or not? Should I eat more?
Why isn't this general knowledge? I am insulin-resistant, Hashimoto and I am struggling with weight so much. Trying keto again but it's hard for me to get into the right nutritional ketosis. I feel cold, fatigued, sleepy and my brain is foggy :(
Hi Dr Sten , I am from India , I do have hypothyroidism and take about 75 mg of Thyroxine . I have dropped my weight from 79 kgs to 70 kgs thru Intermittent fasting and Low carb deit . My problem is that I feel very cold in my feet even if I put in a wooden socks . The outside temp in Bangalore is about 20 Deg Celsius . Any recommendations from you . My target weight is 66 kg as I am 5.5 “ tall
I feel cold from time to time. But for the most part, I have the opposite affect. I get really bad hot flashes. Anybody else? Either way, great video as always.
I would like to do extended fasting (72 hr) for health purposes but I am lean and would prefer not to lose my muscle and definitely don't want to get to hypoglycaemic during my fasting. Any suggestions for the preparation of it?

Then today in a Facebook Keto for women's group someone asked if "Feeling cold was normal for Keto" and she has just started doing Keto recently. So I shared your video on the comment thread of her question. How timely. Thanks for all that you do. ;-)
Thanks Dr Ekberg. Was OMAD for a month, sure enough got cold. Ate more it went away. You are the man!!
Thought it was cause I lost 60 lbs of my insulation lol

Hi from Auckland New Zealand! Glad I found you, clear, not to fast, detailed, not upselling. Thank you I finally found someone I can listen too.
My wife always feels cold... I told her my idea of "producing heat", but apparently the cold comes with a headache as well 😆

Yeah. But life goes on.
Made me laugh. Thank you. :)

Me too!
Thank you for your video's Dr Ekberg, I always find them informative and helpful. There are so many keto bashers out there and misinformation, I always look forward to your videos.
Thank you Judith Robinson. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it.
Thanks again for a great informative video Sten. Im down about 30 pounds as of this week. I still have about 50 pounds to go, but I feel great!
Wow that is great! Congratulations on the weight loss.
I feel cold but I don't feel hungry. Dunno If I'm ketosis or not. Kinda confused 😕
Thats so ketofused. . .
I can't believe how much your content helps me.
70 is pretty cold. I keep my house at 72 and thats still pretty cold and I am the kind of guy thats constantly hot.
70F is colf AF. I keep my isht on 78!
I keep my house at 68 and 65 at night. I like it cold in the midwest. But I do wear hoodies and fuzzy slippers :)
I must send him a link to your channel that he might discover this keto diet miracle :)
fair play to you dr. sten you are excellent at explaining things. great video as usual
Thank you Spive21
I got out of ketosis over the holidays, and I am trying to get back into it now. I am usually hot, but last night my legs were freezing 20 hrs into a fast, and I have been doing 18 IF EOD for the last week. This is taking longer to get into ketosis than the 1st time I did this. I know I am doing the right thing, so I will keep at it.
OMG...just looked up 'decathlon' and your name and found you in wikipedia. Impressive. Thanks for sharing that bit of info about you in the entro!
Hi Doc. ..makes sense to me...very good info in layman's terms...I have been working in minus 30 outside and being in ketosis has kept me warm until I eat too many carbs ...I fall off the wagon lots...then I have a cycle of ravenous hunger and cold and tired until I get back to peeing ketone again...I'll figure this out one day...but do enjoy the different mindset of ketosis...Alot sharper thinking....I'll just need to be more disciplined ....thankyou so much for all you teach😊
If you are only on one meal a day, have a bulletproof coffee for breakfast and lunch - just that little burst of fat (which will not cause an insulin response) may be enough to keep your thermostat up-regulated.
my favorate health instructor, very detailed and logic
Awesome description of how this process works.
Thank you sir for your information. You answered my questions perfectly
Thank you Magdalena for all of your comments and support. I always like to hear from you.
Thanks, it was very well explained and truly helpful information.
This is definitely helpful I've been on keto for a week now, eating between 460-890 Cal's a day under 20 carbs. As well as intermitent fasting and I am always freezing, obviously not fat adapted yet I need to lose 70lbs.
All the best!

P.S: after reading your second comment, it's not about weight loss.

Thank you kysweetheart1964. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it.
Super bra video Ekberg 👍👍👍 lärorikt och tydligt det gillar jag .
I did IF 8:16 May - August 2018 to no avail. Now I do OMAD - IF 4:20, I have done so since august, i can observe autophagy.
Excellent video. Straight to the point, well explained.
Very informative thank you dr I did subscribed to your channel 💚
At 44 hours fast and im freezing. Very clear explanation why. Thank-you
Thanks for posting this. I’ve been doing Keto and OMAD for a month and got down to below 15% body fat and now I’m freezing even though the temperature is in the 70s. I guess I have to go back to doing 16/8 IF.
Another great video with really interesting and relevant information - thank-you.
Thank you joanne kerr.
Good explanation.
Thank you Beat Diabetes!. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it.
Lost over 1 ft around my waiste in 8 months.. so
Getting cold can be caused by initial fat adaption.
I've been doing keto for fourteen months and I've been feeling cold lately it's really scaring me tbh 😔 I'm 218lbs and 5/9 I'm classed as obese and ever since I've been doing 1500 calories a day I've been feeling cold. Like my chest most of the time..
Thank you for this Dr! 🙏🏻❤️

@@mystyboarder910 I think not enough fat and also not enough calories.... thanks
Jake, Thank you. I have a video on eating more healthy fats. th-cam.com/video/isfY9JQVmOs/w-d-xo.html
Thanks doc. Great info.
Thank you Manny.

Am I cold or do I just feel cold. That is the question. I’m going to get out the thermometer
Please share your thoughts on how to feed our kids ages even toddlers. All those eating habits form in our early ages.
I've been on keto for 4 months lost 40 pounds and just started feeling chilly / cold for about a week now. I'm 5'9" and was 230, and I'm down to 190.
Only happens to me if I have the house T-stat under 15 degrees. Keto made me unable to tolerate heat.
What's the best way to work out the maximum net carb allowance? Is that different on different individuals?
Great video very informative
7:22 - This happened to me. I was doing OMADs and just rolling along, and then I got cold (which had never happened because I live in Mexico). A little extra butter later, and voilà! I felt much better! 💪😎👍
You increase fat and everything solved itself?
@@henriksvensson2836 Yes.
Very interesting. thanks
Thank you marie v.
I’m doing OMAD carnivore, lost 50lbs, my ketone level is around 3, but from the beginning and still right now my hands and feet are still cold. Is there anything I could do? Would it be my thyroid, then? Something I could tweak with my food? Thank you so much for your content!
Never had this problem. I do 16/8 IF, and sometimes 36h Fasting. I'm 67, quite no fat left. I don't feel cold, but it makes me asleep.
Yes I was getting cold.I'm glad I saw this video, I will eat more today.
Thank you Armando Miraglia. I don't know. Haven't run into that. Could be that the blood is pooling to the digestive organs. 😄
Thank you doctor , now I understand why I feel cold 😊
In a case like that, may it be advisable to introduce some fat externally to your body to balance out a possible deficit?
love the thumbnail doc
I KNEW IT insulin resistance is why you get cold, when your fully fat adapted though and insulin resistance is gone your heat production is kept up though when you feel cold your heart beat lowers and you will live longer therefore. Kids LiKE MYself oxidize fat 30-40% for energy while exercising verses adults
I usually drink some heavy whipping cream for extra calories. Roughly 1500+ calories per bottle. I'm quite lean though
You keeping repeating "If you're not insulin resistant" but what if I am? Will keto eventually resolve that?

Just wondering about blood flow....how is that related to cold hands and feet? I think it is also an important part even if you are a fat burner
