I want to really thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your information that you provide has absolutely been a major factor in saving my life. In mid-april my weight was 403 lb and this morning I weighed myself and I now weigh 324 lb. I really wish there was a way I could show you a picture of me during Halloween and a picture of me today. Not understanding how Food Works and looking at a picture of me back in October really blows my mind. I can now breathe without struggling and I can walk 6 miles each day with ease. Again thank you because you have been a major factor in my keto Journey

well the weight is still off with no particular hard work or thought. I tell them about you and other drs who give free info, they say utube is all quackery. Well years later I’ll healthy and slim, they are achy and obese. I was a night shift nurse. We loved our carbs!

One of my major reason for wanting to do Keto is because Im addicted to sugar. I cut out sugar from my diet totally 8 weeks ago and I find it soooo much easier not to have sugar cravings if I eat at least low carb or even better keto (especially eating no bread) helps enormously. Also I was diagnosed with diabetes and I decided I will get that insulin down without meds!

This is great information. I went on keto a while back, jumped in 100% and had keto flu/illness for about 6 weeks. It was horrible but after that I never felt so good. I'm sure that was just my body's response so I stuck with it. Several years ago I wound up in the hospital with Septic Shock and all my organs shut down. Before they could pull the plug my kidney's started working and slowly over the next couple of weeks things began to work again. As a result I have a lot of issues, like auto-immune and my brain synapses don't always hit right but the keto lifestyle helped and put the RA into remission (it came out when I came back from the coma) . I went on keto originally for my brain. I want to go back on keto for my brain & diabetes, blood pressure, and because I remember feeling so great. This sounds like the perfect way to start it again. Didn't mean to write a book, but thanks for letting me... lol

You are so lucky, my father died from sepsis, his organs stopped working and antibiotics they gave him didn't help. I was also lucky as i got sepsis after brown recluse bite and was an hour from dying, huge amount of antibiotics saved me. But it is rare to survive sepsis. There was a ballet dancer at Bolshoi who fell during rehearsal and tore all of the muscles and tendons from his knee, after the first surgery he developed sepsis and was told he is dying and the only way to save him was cut off his leg. He said he would rather die, how would a ballet dancer survive without a leg? So they performed 9 more surgeries and saved his life and his leg. After recovering for a year he danced 9 more years. I started doing intermittent fasting thanks to him. After he stopped dancing and became a rector of a famous ballet academy he gained weight and he was talking about not eating after 3:00 PM and he lost the weight. I was skeptical and then started listening to Dr. Ekberg and he was talking about eating all meals within a few hours and then fasting for the rest
0f the day so I tried it and weight started coming off. Now I am planning to start 5 day water fast.I hope you are doing well.

    Very informative.
I have been on keto for 11 months
    started 84kg,
    target 67kg
    currently 73kg
My weight reduction was slow, so I did some fasting, for 3 days, then 2 days.
It helped, but I was not losing much weight.
I decided to measure my Kj's and found my one meal a day was 5.250kj, I was shocked.
That's why my weight loss was so slow.
Incredibly, I was still losing weight, but just a little.
Now about 2,000kj and exercising as well, so I am getting fitter and also less susceptible to covid 19.
Thank you for your very informative videos.

I used IF on occasion with a low to moderate carbohydrate diet while power lifting. More recently I've reduced my muscle mass and use IF OMAD in conjunction with the Keto and carnivore lifestyle. The results for me have been quite profound in many ways and at 58, some of the positive changes have been very welcome eg, I don't have to get up at night anymore and downward mood change or depression is virtually non existent in me. I continue to train incorporating HIIT and weight lifting. Typically I eat grass fed beef steak, eggs, some vegetables and bone broth from grass fed beef marrow bones. At 6'1" I've come down from a lean 255 LBS to around a very lean 205. Jeff.

No wonder I hear stories of ppl in the emergency rooms bcz they really don't do it correctly. Unless they have an underlying condition they themselves aren't aware of and the keto diet shows something else is going on. Your plan is better than my plan. I've been at it the wrong way. Thanks!

Dr. Ekberg, I wanted to post my own experience with the keto diet. I have been eating this way since January 2022. The main reason was because I kept having severe allergic reactions where my mouth and face would swell up and I was afraid my throat would close up. I started eating the eggs, bacon, cheese and a beef stir fry too along with veggies. I cut out all soda and sugary drinks and highly processed food.
The allergic reactions stopped and I noticed my joint pain in my fingers and hands stopped and the swelling in my wrists went down. Also my sleep cycle is much better now. I get 5 hours of deep sleep without waking up! I'm stronger too. I work a laborious job lifting sometimes 40 pounds and I used to hurt so bad in my body and loose my breath but now I can complete the job much easier.
Thanks again for the great information! Very helpful! Please keep posting these videos!

Acid reflux completely gone was one bonus health benefit for me after going full keto (I was low carb before). The acid reflux was kind of up and down before but most time present to some degree. I also do not drink 30-60 min before and after meal (not during also). I think that keeps the stomach chemistry (bacteria and acid) at the best level to digest the food. Don't know if it's scientific, but it works for me.. For the rest of the time I'm doing 3-4 L water/day all together.

I have to keep watching every few days to get it & keep it in my stoopid skull! Luckily it's never a chore to watch & learn. You, Thomas DeLauer & Dr Jason Fung - It seems you three people really truly are the champions.. Been watching while now, been keto(ish) for almost a year.. 6 autoimmune diseases & pushing 50 but the ill health is slowly reversing & the mentality which was really bad is slowly but surely changing for the better. I've pretty much the basics firmly in my head. I'm a recovering addict & treating keto as I do my recovery & doing recovery & keto both as daily components of my life that make me well, heal me & are making me go from broken to not just unbroken, but happy too. I always knew I had potential, now I know it. Keto life (& recovery life) is THE LIFE! THANK YOU - Incidentally - I find keto life helps the recovery stuff too... I think I have a very tiny bit of sugar about once a month on carb day.. I actually decided this week that next carb day needs to be purely sugar free & keto!! Urgh!! It's so yucky innit!!

It’s harder to shift weight in your 50’s but if you stick to the game plan it will come. Equally I’ve started swimming at the same time which has helped a lot with reduced injuries from running and other sports. I certainly don’t get the high/low sugar cravings and the tiredness in the afternoon at work very often now so the difference is credible. But I’m converting slowly which is easier…

I love Doctor Ekberg! I think it's great how he gives a practical plan for the average person to get on a ketogenic diet. I kind of walked through the back door and ended up on the diet, however. For whatever reason, I just kept cutting the carbs out of my diet. Then I learned about this ketogenic diet and realized I was 90% they are already. So I just bridged the gap, and haven't looked back. This is not a diet, but a lifestyle. I don't imagine ever going back to the SAD way of doing things. Goodbye sugar!

My recommendation to be quick into ketosis is to start by lowering the carb for a week (cut sugar, bred, pasta, rice) just below 100 gr / day, then start fasting, you will be in ketosis in 3 days.
Then or keep going the fasting or go to full keto at 30 grs/ day.
I found this way much easier, more efficient and more faster that waiting for ever to be in ketosis.
The very good point is that starting classic is very hard, to deprivate yourself off these things that you like and to find a way to feel up yourself with what you are allowed, but with this way you're so happy to just eat, that you are happy with anything and if you fast for a week, you will loose most of your need of sugar, bred, ect
Off course depends of your helth and off course, fasting is quite easy but not so simple, so or get good advice ob see a professional.
Off Stan is best guys on earth concerning Keto, I don't think anybody discuss that anymore

    • @steveshea6148

Sounds like you tried to reduce your daily carbs to quickly. Try to go more gradually in reducing your carbs. Like start with 200g carbs a day, do that for a week, then go down to 150, etc, til you get to maybe 50-80g/ day. It's really not complicated. Then make sure you are eating 80-100g protein and you will also need significant fat, like 5 tablespoons or so daily, to make up the calories you need to eat daily. You need to do the math on what you are eating, at least at the beginning so you know what's what. And you need a digital diet scale to learn what the portions are . Good luck.

In New Zealand, GPs go through a 7 year university course and that includes a stint in hospitals. Before you get a referral to a specialist you need to visit your local GP.
