the thing is, halloween kills was a really good movie, it displayed micheal’s strength and ‘pure evil’, it displayed how much of a savage he was, and for him to be beaten by a punk-ass kid really ruined micheal myers for me. because micheal myers is supposed to be ‘supernatural’ like he was in previous movies, someone who always comes back.

For me, Michael Myers died at the end of Halloween 2 - in one big blaze of glory sparked by Dr. Loomis's lighter, and if I wanna watch Laurie duke it out with The Shape I'll just put on Halloween 20 Years Later. Anything is better than having to acknowledge that Halloween Kills & Ends exist.

@@l750z_6 I agree Kills was really good. Most of the movie was Michael, you know, killing. The plot was not much of anything, but it was made up for by the fact of all the action and good kills. It totally centered around Michael, except for the lynch mob at the hospital which I found unnecessary and a low point of that movie. I liked how Micheal was shown to be a superhuman and able to take down anyone, and everyone. I especially liked the kills right after everyone assumed he was dead in the streets, and the surprise kill on Karen that no one was expecting. I could re-watch that movie many times.
Halloween Ends was terribly bad. 3/4 of the movie centered on a romance between Allyson and Corey which made little to no sense, and no one cared about. People went to the theater to see Michael. When I was watching this movie I was just bored, and waiting to see Michael... Then when we FINALLY see him he let's someone live? He is also the opposite of what he was in the last movie... He had superhuman strength, and in this movie he is weak, has a difficulty getting up, and gets pushed around by a kid... That pissed me off. He is Michael f***ing Myers! Some kid finds him, Michael doesn't kill him, and Michael is weak now, and a kid pushes him over and takes his mask? Bullshit. Then even after that again it still focuses on this new character that we spent the first 2/3 of the movie learning about that all we want is to die so Michael can take the lead... A small other side note I thought that black lady living from the last movie was dumb... She was obviously going to die. Michael stabbed her in the throat with a fluorescent light bulb, and she was bleeding out. She was not going to live through that. No one was going to be there to save her either. That is besides the point though. People came to the theater to see Michael face off against Laurie Strode and company, not be a weak old man that makes a cameo at the very end of a romance movie.

Straight up bias and other reasons I don't know or care, if you call yourself a critic you have to discuss the good and bad moments in the movie objectively especially since this is the final part in this trilogy and how all three films sum up. Joe giving this movie a break and soft-pedaling it when you know the film is a piece of shit and can respect someone's opinion if they did enjoy the movie makes him look pretty bad, it's like he can't be objective because his subjective opinion holds more ground.
If this was about Superman or Suicide Squad though he'll fight tooth and nail to prove his case, but when it comes to Halloween Ends it gets a pass because he enjoyed the final act of the movie.That's a poor ass excuse. Very inconsistent, overly bias, lacking discipline in this review. If you enjoyed this movie, more power to you, but it definitely has some huge flaws and is a disappointing conclusion to the 2018 reboot.

@@l750z_6 they didn't nerf him they explained he stopped killing for 4 years. He was hiding in the sewer living off scraps and the few kills that hobo would bring him. Laurie said you can't beat him with brute force like what the mob did, it had to be well executed and those deep cuts while he slowly loses blood did the trick. Also, he literally took his hand out of the knife literally slicing his hand in half, grabbing Laurie and applying strength how is that being nerfed.

They set up all this shit in Kills with Michael looking out his window and hinting at him being supernatural, then they proceed to not touch up on that at all 😂 completely disregard it. So now we never get to know what him looking out the window meant? They had zero plan with this trilogy it’s so infuriating
There's a theory that the window was a metaphor for the audience, and that Michael constantly looking through the window was more of a self-reflection on the townspeople's/viewer's arms-length view of the character, playing more into the abstract. Sounds like they jettisoned that potential angle here, though.

In Halloween (2018) the granddaughter grabbed the knife at the end like she was becoming evil or something. They never addressed that
I’m guessing that’s the route they were going. But changed their mind
I think they sort of did. Without delving into spoiler territory; I think she was going down that same dark path along with Corey for the first 2 acts. What Laurie writes in her book at the beginning, about letting the evil in, Allison was at that brink. There’s even a weird red herring in the movie after a certain 2 individuals are killed that almost wants you to think it was Allison and Corey doing the kill, not Corey and Michael. So I don’t think the writers forgot that imagery from 2018, they just played it differently.
Also, let’s not forget the ultimate messaging at the end is that pretty much anyone can take the shape of evil if they choose. Allison just never got to make the choice to do so due to the events of the film, which I won’t spoil here for others. But she was close…

Pretty sure just going off the 2018 Film alone, it was more so to symbolize that she was becoming more like her grandmother. Being prepared/becoming a fighter etc, which is shown by her wanting to go and find Michael in kills. Least that's how I interpreted it back then

The idea of someone becoming inspired by Michael Myers to become a killer could have been interesting. Though probably not a good story idea for a final story in a trilogy that's been setting up a showdown between Laurie and Michael.

Having just seen it, I really feel like Kills and Ends should've been switched. Laurie moving on with her life makes sense if she thinks she finally killed him in the 2018 movie. Only for him to come back at the end and then Kills happens as the final entry, with the last fight of Ends happening after the mob fight.

My favorite part about the movie "Michael and Me" is when Michael was observing Corey hanging out at Laurie Strode's house briefly after Michael first met Corey. The special gem about this scene is that there is no plausible way Michael would have caught up to Corey, unless he rode on the back of his motorcycle with his arms around Corey's waist; truly showing the deep bond that their friendship started out with.
Michael can easily drive a vehicle, like he did in the first film. Using the tradesmen overalls and truck.

The writing and dialogue in this film makes GOT season 7 and 8 look like a masterpiece.
For me, the problem stems from them seemingly just forgetting how they’d set up in the last 2 movies.
You have Laurie spending decades in fear, preparing for what she KNOWS is coming, no one believes her, not even her family until she’s finally vindicated and proves she was right all along.
Kills, while being sloppy, still had Michael feel like he should, an unstoppable boogeyman. You literally see him reach Jason/Freddy levels with how much abuse he can take and just keep going. I genuinely liked that. And from the marketing for Ends, I thought it was going to be a big showdown that solely focused on Laurie and Michael.
Ends, just is not a Halloween movie. It’s a weird generic copycat slasher movie that is NOT interesting. Corey as a character just SUCKS…I have no idea why they would have him basically just take up all the time and story that should’ve gone toward Michael and Laurie. I also don’t get what on Earth they were thinking with Laurie either, you’re telling me that AFTER being vindicated and having her daughter get MURDERED by Michael, that she wouldn’t go hunting for him? You’re telling me her and Alison just dropped everything that happened and said “let’s move and forget all of this”??? Really? They would be the ones MOST dedicated to finding Michael.

If you watch it like that. You have a great little timeline that negates all the junk from Kills and EVERYTHING from Ends
It’s a classic case where they didn’t have a coherent plan for this trilogy. It went backwards. Halloween Ends should have been the first as it starts with a copycat killer that gets Michaels interest while in the mental hospital where he eventually breaks out and puts an end to the copycat and returns to his full killing force. Halloween Kills works as the middle movie. And Halloween (2018) would work far better as the ending movie with the Laurie and her family killing Michael.
Just made zero sense how Michael is devoid of energy because he hasn’t killed anyone in four years, but he literally just killed an entire neighborhood of the town which should be enough to keep him going for a long time.

I read on TV tropes that supposedly the original idea was Laurie goes after Micheal immediately after the ending of Kills with Ends essentially still taking place on the same night. Reason they didn't do that is cause of Covid delays.

They should have replicated the fear we felt in H20 when Laurie is alone in the school and Michael chases her. Hollywood never seems to know what they’re doing when it comes to Halloween. I recommend checking out the fan films cuz what they lack in budget they make up for in passion. My favorite is Halloween You Can’t Kill The Boogeyman, easily the closest thing the fans have gotten to the original film!!

I enjoyed Halloween Kills because of the mob hysteria scenario. I figured it would allow Laurie to be more alone against Michael. As in, the mob does all that shit, now there's a lockdown and a curfew, but Michael is still out there. Laurie is forced to face him down with only her wits. I am angry and sad to see so many reviews talking about how they butchered this installment. Didn't just drop the ball, they kicked it into a woodchipper

So Michael Meyers is pushed aside for a kid we're set up to feel sorry for, who quickly justifies everyones opinions of him, who also activates some Green Mile Jon Coffey superpowers that make Michael show mercy for the first time ever. Anything would have been better. I don't understand what happened. The formula for a good Halloween movie is actually pretty simple, as seen in the originals and the 2018 one. The plot exists in the background as an excuse to give Myers situations in which he fucks shit up in a really creepy/cool and cold way. People watch Halloween because they wanna see Myers whooping ass, not to watch The Young and The Restless with a Myers cameo.

They weakened him on purpose in this one to please the fans that were complaining about Laurie being able to take him one on one after he killed crowds of people in kills. Unless his house was his main source of power and drive like I was thinking. They condemned and tore his house down after kills. Also another thing they got right with these movies is the mask. It's the best mask I've seen in any of the films and the flashback sequence mask was spot on with 78.

I think the story in this movie could have benefited from multiple movies. It's kind of that Rise of Skywalker feeling where it just came out of no where with no build up.
The main problem is as you guys said, focusing on other characters when it's supposed to be a about the main people of interest. Also them seemingly removing the unstoppable supernatural element showed they didn't know how to end it, which is a shame cuz I actually really liked Halloween Kills' unstoppable force version of Michael
Jeremey Jahns has the right idea, Halloween Ends is a combination of two films. one is what the director has filmed, which is the last twenty minutes but he doesn't have anything before that. the majority is a whole different script but no movie.
Seems like that. The whole trilogy was meant to be over one night. I get the feeling it was only meant to be two movies. Because all they had was Laurie fighting Michael for 5 minutes at the end of this one. So maybe the end of Kills was meant to be Michael vs Laurie and that's it

The moment there is a "strong women" involved Joe goes out of his way to scrap the BOTTOM of the barrel to desperately try to say something good about the film or show. (As he did with Shehulk, until he just had to give up and admit it was trash).
I guarantee you, if the leads were male. Joe would go all out and not make excuses for it.
You can tell that he actually lines up with Alex here, but he's trying to be nice because he doesn't want to bash a film that portrays strong women (Poorly might I had).

It blows my mind that this has been receiving fairly mixed reviews. This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Thanks to this review I convinced my friends to skip the theater and use Peacock instead, which was fortunate because all we did was laugh in the 'wtf was that' kind of way.
We christened it Tyler Perry's Halloween because of how confused and nonsensical the pacing and dialogue was.

Michael becomes more powerful whenever he kills someone, and Corey discovers this when he fights Michael for the mask. Corey survived the knife slash by wearing the mask when he killed people. He fought Michael for the knife because he wanted to assume the new role of being an immortal killer

When they kept saying “somehow he disappeared” I could only think of “somehow Palpatine has returned”.
I think what pisses me off the most is they actually had something quite captivating with Corey and that whole storyline. It seemed like it fit more of like a side story of Halloween like if they wanted to make a 4 for fan service. The issue is now is using this entry as Halloween Ends it’s almost as if they’re saying it doesn’t have to be Michael Myers for it to be “Halloween” and they can’t be farther from the truth. They could’ve done this one the same as Halloween Kills just so we get to see Michael go old man rage one last time and then at the very end go more into how “the shape” doesn’t die it changes face then after some basic characterization for Corey end it with him getting choked then cut to black. Then on the other hand no one tells these fuckers in all these major movies to add random rules to the world we know so well. Man what a time to be an avid movie lover. Keep the shit coming studios! You’re making me better at my passion and I will come out with something one day that’s actually going to care about the viewers time that you actually wanna revisit it.

No one hated kills for Michael Myers going doomguy on Haddonfield. The movie just felt an unnecessary movie to make a trilogy.
I liked the movie but I mostly agree this one felt more standalone. My main issue is seeing people say “how could Micheal even get up from all that punishment in kills and completely demolish a mob” but when Micheal’s weak (which makes sense as he’s been out in the wild with no access to food,clean water or medicine) it’s “I wish Micheal was back at full power” I didn’t mind it personally but this was a weaker ending to the trilogy and would’ve been better for its own movie

I liked kills because of that exact reason. I'm undecided on ends, but I know for a fact its the least liked out of the 3 films in this trilogy. Because Michael gets barely any screen time. It's not a bad film imo, I wasnt bored, but absolutely was not satisfied and I gave it a 6 leaving the cinema. I think maybe now I was generous.
The issue with Kills is that amid the mind numbing plot points and dialogue it tries to alter large chunks of the Halloween lore just for the sake of its own existence. I even think there were clear paths to making Kills beloved if Ends would’ve just continued where we left off.
For instance, I really hated the insistence that Michael “just wanted to go home” but it could’ve worked if Michael was just trying to get back there to lure Laurie so he could finally kill her where he failed 40 years ago. Idk, there’s a lot to hate about Kills but at least there were ways to make it work.
The moment that kid hit and bounced up when he fell in the start of the movie....was hilarious.
We definitly need more grinders and shreddders in horrormovies as death machines!

Well I just got back from the movie theater about an hour ago. Watched it with my wife and kids and i literally kept falling asleep 😴 😂 definitely not what I expected
It felt from me they took a lot of inspiration from the Rob Zombie films. Also reminded me of the Carpenter/ Stephen King film Christine with the man character slowly turning evil by a source of evil.
Kind of cool someone else finally picked up the knife like they’ve teased before, but the end was very anticlimactic.
I love how you can always tell which Movies Alex hated by his face when the video starts.
