the second i heard them say that i came *straight* to the comments, glad this is the first one i saw...
I know. It seems that a lot of the complaints about this film are daft. The comment saying they would barely remember after 30 years… yeah… a guy tries to stab you to death, chases you, that’s not a life changing event at all. Especially if you were a child at the time.

I think he michael myers stole some cargo pants from plumber or florist ( driving a van) maybe kill him "HALLOWEEN '78 after stole nurse car ( wagon) in escape asylum continue visit his old neighbor haddenfield illinios ( really was shot in old homes in california if you watch Hallloween 1978 documentary interview director john carpenter )
They even brought it up by bringing back the nurse that got her car stolen.

The beginning scene where he walks out of the burning house and the firefighters are getting prepared to fight for the lives and at the end where Michael puts on his mask and just looks at everyone too me is one the 2 most badass scenes in a Halloween movie
Firefighter scene was badass at first but turned insanely unrealistic quick. Yeah lets all attack this big motherfucker one at a time like video game characters. At least be realistic about it and show them all attacking him all at once.

But that firefighter scene is the opposite of what Halloween is supposed to be. Michael hides in the shadows and surprise attacks. He doesn't have an action scene on the front lawn with a bunch of firemen.
My favorite part of the movie was when Jamie Lee Curtis random assaulted that doctor in the hospital 🤣
Loomis: I met him, 15 years ago; I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no conscience, no understanding in even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this... six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and... the blackest eyes - the Devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up, because I realised that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil.
Funny enough this is all the motivation we need for Michael and it was set up in the first movie.

But if you're going to review a Halloween movie and talk about Michael Myers, you better watch the original movie and recognize that's the gold standard.

They need to tighten this script up for the finally because we are done with the peak chaos. Doing it again would muddle the sequences. The second act was a mess but I felt they got it back together to say what they had to.
Granted the movie was a mess but I feel it’s better than 2018 in some aspects.
Still can’t get the shapes way of acting it’s creepy. Like he isn’t there but his thirst and power is that’s it.

If it followed the Halloween 4-6 timeline, Michael got lessons by the Man in Black.
In the original and the original sequel, Michael simply observed Loomis driving during his time as his patient.
Following 2018 and onward, Michael knows how to drive still because of his observation and his ability to adapt.
Just pointing it out.
And Michael works being scary in the sense that, this was a normal boy, who for whatever the reason, just went batshit crazy and killed his sister. No lead up, no backstory, just, “imma kill my sister Judith!” And the point of his character was you cannot explain his actions. He’s a force. A devil dressed as a man.

Yo, Michael Myers drives all the time. I once saw him behind the wheel head banging to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"
The movie was okay. I still think 2018 version was better. It had a better soundtrack, better plot, better pacing, and better kills. This one had characters acting way too dumb in it, whereas the first one didn't fall into all those stereotypical horror tropes so much. No reason they couldn't confirm the kill on Myers at the end by say chopping his head off or something. They should've known better.
They really should have just made 2 movies in this new franchise, no reason for 3.

The best part of this movie definitely is the flashback scene, that’s what the hardcore fans were worried about but it ended up being one of the best scenes.
The flashback scenes, especially those with Dr Loomis were the best parts about the movie.

Joe does make a great point towards the end. The majority of the towns people don’t know how dangerous and strong Michael is. A couple stabs, bashes to the head and multiple gunshot would be overkill on a normal person, which they do. It makes sense that they think they get him after that.

I really appreciated how they did the flash back scenes, it seemed like they actually used old cameras and the same filters that the original film did. And the guy they got to play Loomis looked identical to him

@@bonniescott6470 I didn’t mind it too much. I personally like that they finally did the take on the town coming after Michael and how they foolishly think they could stop him. The one thing I didn’t like though were the amount of times characters made decisions which didn’t really make sense other than to get the body count up like the boyfriends dad going into the house alone instead of calling for back up. I did love Michael giving the town what they deserve though by just slaughtering everyone

After 2018 reminded me of why I loved the original so much, Halloween Kills feels like a love letter to every stupid sequel in the series. But I was CONSTANTLY entertained...if rarely for the right reasons
My theater was laughing so much during the movie. For the funny bits, and the bits I'm sure weren't intentionally funny.

I have a hard time believing a 60+ year old man is on this kind of murder spree.
The dialogue in this movie needed a lot of work. The sheer brutality, relentlessness, and looming presence of Myers made this a 7.5/10 for me. If they would've cut nearly half of the hospital scenes out of this movie, and threw in some OG Myers stalking this would've increased my score to a 9.

I'm surprised they hated Halloween 2018 so much, I didn't realize the general reception was so poor. I thought it was overall pretty good. I haven't seen this one yet, but it seems like their main complaints are just the slasher tropes (i.e. hateable characters, etc.) more than the film itself. It sounds like what Joe got out of it is what I'm probably going to get out of it, a nice entertaining kill-fest.
If you like 2018 you’ll like kills but the ending of halloween kills might ruin the movie for you
2018 is just bad. The vibe isn't right too much story not enough action the acting is cheesy in a bad way and it just doesn't feel halloween

The movie was absolutely ridiculous. The scene at the hospital where everyone was losing their minds was funny af and so crazy that the whole movie theater was laughing
Yeah, when they kept saying "Evil dies tonight" over and over I was like "OKAY I GET IT!!!". Movies lately have been repeating phrases over and over and its annoying. Ex. Saying Spangler was a "Dirt Farmer" in Ghostbusters: Afterlife; Prey were they kept ostracizing the female comanchee from the hunting party

This movie was a ton of fun. Great kills, good laughs. The firefighter and park sequences are both standouts. Go in expecting an A24 horror movie you’ll leave disappointed, go in expecting a slasher horror movie and all that entails you’ll have a great time, or at least my wife and I did.
I agree with everything except the A24 comment….really overhyped / not that great to me. Not really anyway. Hereditary was ok and then I hear stuff about midsommar that I would say it sucks / I will never watch it. People think it’s better than it is. Uncut gems was interesting enough…they shoot well but their stories are not as good as people act like
Norse Studios my point with the A24 movie thing is if you’re going in expecting an artsy horror movie with some deeper meaning, you won’t find it in Halloween Kills, it’s just a really good slasher movie.

I wasn't super impressed by Halloween Kills, but I don't think watching a review by people who clearly don't know the series or characters really helped me understand why I didn't like it.
Basically everything with Myers was great and exciting. But that’s about it. The other half of the movie was killed by the poor writing and script. I will rewatch for Myers and the flashbacks but never for Laurie or the others as they did nothing in this movie.
It wasn’t as suspenseful as the original imo, it felt more like a jason movie. The characters weren’t nearly as good either

They wasted OG 1978 characters for the body count and they had to rely on fan service as a crutch because the story was basic. They wasted 30 minutes on that side story of the other escaped prisoner, just totally stupid. No suspense, no characters to root for. Kills were the only good thing.

Also this is at 7/10 for me. Had a lot of fun with it loved the kills, loved the gore. The title is called Halloween Kills and they delivered on the title tenfold.

the whole point of michael myres is to stalk someone for days, and getting closer each time until his knife is in your gut. he doesn't mindlessly kill like a brute all the time, he's calculated and knows what he's doing.
True but everyone is aware of him in Kills. The entire town is on red alert, and people are after him. He nearly just died too, he’s gonna be pissed. Plus he still does a lot of stalking in the film, you see it at the park with the children on the swings, at his old home with Big John & Little John, the old woman & man and at the end in the house again. He is still Micheal but deffo has gone a bit Jason in this sequel. Either way, I thought this Halloween movie was great and I’m hyped for Ends.

The parts where Michael is slaughtering people are fantastic. All of the other stuff with the townspeople is pretty awful. It feels forced and they never stop giving overelaborate speeches about how this one guy is the ultimate evil blah blah blah. It really doesn't help you can see Michael's human face through the eyeholes of the mask either.

I would almost be fine with it if there was some weird Silver Shamrock connection there, but that doesn't really explain Michael killing his sister in the clown outfit as a kid.

The scene where the black lady crawls out the window and doesn't shoot the killer then she dissappear just to reappear after her friends were killed then she kills herself it was dumb af.

You have to treat these movies as one film, they connect so well, even minor details like the black doctor and nurse couple were planted in the first film

The films that count in this trilogy’s timeline: the original 1978 film, the 2018 film, this one, and the next one. As far as the town itself is concerned, Michael is just a regular man hiding behind a mask. They’ve only had 2 (before that night because 2018 & this are the same night) instances of Michael killing, and both times he was apprehended by police. So as far the people in the town are concerned: Michael is just a man in a mask. That’s why they thought they could take him, and why they thought he wouldn’t get back up.

Michael is freaking malicious and eery to me. I've always liked Michael in his first two movies (John Carpenters and Halloween II), and enjoyed the remake (7/10 for me on 2018 and this one). And this was pretty good compared to most horror sequels, especially Horror Remake sequels. I liked it. Maybe on my second watch it'll decline, but we'll see.
Also, in the first movie they set the precedent of him being able to take a hit. After all Loomis "Shot him SIX TIMES!"
He has massive plot armor and he is a 70 year old man.
I actually was disappointed on 1st watch. Then I decided to watch it again and my opinion change it was a good movie. So instead of decline it went up for me at least

The ending definitely feels like it's deliberately saving the reveal for the last film. There's no way Micheal Myers is physically human anymore. There is something up with him. The explanation given by Laurie Strode might actually be a literal explanation

Normally when a group of people get together they just circlejerk about what they liked and you don't get any different opinions but here you get to see both sides.
