Rithysak Serey I was really really hoping that this game would finally dethrone 7, but because nomura decided to dick around for 7 years and left tabata with an idea on the brink of death... This is what we got... Fuck
Rithysak Serey I really hope so m8. I honestly don't mind at all if it takes even a year to fix the story and implement some bomb ass cutscenes. I just want a finished product.
ffxv story is f**ked up , the emperor and the other supporting characters has no story whats so ever, as if Noctis was fighting an invisible enemy, it reminds of MGS5 story FF15 is unfinished game which could have been a masterpiece, the potential to bliud a great story out of these characters is vast , yet SE f**ked up.
Address Nomura was stuck helping with other projects if I'm not mistaken. plus it was said the engine was a mess and that he was waiting for it to be ready. but at some point they decided they needed to make assets already but those assets ended up never being used in the game for whatever reason.
traktorn Same for me. I can see all the problems the game has and hearing what could have been makes me sad that we might never will see this content in the light of day. But still, FF XV is one of my all time favourite games. It made me laugh, cry and so much more and no other game ever achieved that. That's why it just can be a 10/10 for me in my heart. And if they add more Luna, World of Ruins etc. it will also be in my brain.
Pray that the opinions are so deviated Square decides that they fcked up and releases the 6 month development worth dlc or the remaster/GOTY edition is completely uncut and chock full of good shit.
Emmanuel Robles oh no. I did. It was when you left to altissia it completely changed. This is just me, but you visit tanabrae but you don't do anything. The train, not much. Chapter 13, a different game. I felt they grabbed different ideas they had from before and just put it the game.
those sections you mention werent bad at all. the pacing was just off. it should have had something leading up to it. that whole part felt like it was cut up and we were served just a few chunks. and this video seems to confirm that
i should have waited 1/2 Year New Players in the Future will have much more fun with Story Patches /offroad Regalia , 120 level Cap and much more :/ after i saw all this changes in the Future i felt like a beta Player
yeah 100+ of content...thats it? what? it's all perspective...and wannabe shit tier critics choose to have a perspective that it's not what the wanted or expected based on nothing THATS IT? funny how there is so much extra shit to do and ppl complain about that....and the same fucking shit heads complained about how "LINEAR" 13 was and how there was nothing to explore shit head idiots will never be happy..they dont get that nothign will ever be perfect and there will always be something to complain about if they care more about complaining than enjoying the work of art that geniuses spent 10 fucking years on...jesus christ
seeing everything that was cut out, makes you realize how incomplete and messy the game was storywise, like it could have been a fucking 1000/10 and way better than FFVII if it wasn't for the fucking development hell that it had FUCK. ME.
I gree with you ffxv story is f**ked up , the emperor and the other supporting characters has no story whats so ever, as if Noctis was fighting an invisible enemy, it reminds of MGS5 story FF15 is unfinished game which could have been a masterpiece, the potential to build a great story out of these characters is vast , yet SE f**ked up.
I wish both Tabata and Nomura could have worked on this together from the beggining, I have nothing against Nomura, but the guy is an artist, not necessarily an stellar director, therefore he comes up with fantastic ideas, but his execution of said ideas and scheduling are questionable. I feel people give Tabata too much shit, I mean for a guy to go in that development hell, save the thing in 3 years and have the game come up the way it did... wow..., imagine half an extra year or even one year, with the proper scheduling from the start., FFXIII had 5 years for gods sake.
+FeniX_TX_: I don't know, I feel that Nomura is a good director for different reasons than Tabata. While many praise Tabata for being completely open with the fanbase, which is generally a good thing, I honestly think FFXV is a strange case where it ends up damaging the game. Just like FinalFantasyPeasant said in this video, when people were demanding for "open-world," Tabata should have said "No." When they demanded for "airships," Tabata should have said "No." He also gave away way too much of the game. Whereas Nomura on the other hand tends to be very secretive in many of his projects while still dropping little hints in interviews to keep us speculating, such as how he has handled Kingdom Hearts. In all honesty, I really feel that the best-case scenario was to keep Nomura as director and just use Unreal Engine 4 to develop the game instead. At the very least, Nomura would have made sure the story was told in completion. I mean, every trailer for this game when Nomura was director looked so much cooler than what we got. Even E3 2013, which was the last we'd ever see of the Nomura-directed build looked far more impressive than what we got, both story-wise and honestly even gameplay-wise. I don't hate Tabata, but personally I don't feel he was the right person for this project. And Tabata has been pretty immature when talking about concepts from Versus XIII (in the lorebook for FFXV when describing Luna, they say "Unlike Stella from Versus XIII, Luna is a strong, independent character, etc..."). And Tabata just made some really dumb decisions with telling the story (yes, let's take the entire Niflheim invasion segment that everyone was hyped for since 2007 and make it into a movie instead and let the main game be a roadtrip, that won't tick anyone off at all)
C4DNerd The game was always gonna be open world though, that was Nomura's decision. And the other thing don't really need that much work to get in. even the car cuztomization is for the most part just skins. Not that I love open world games, I feel Bloodborne and the Souls games have the perfect balance, you are not in a hallway, but is not a huge desert. While the Witcher 3, is just too much, it's got around 40 hours of great content and like a 150 of pure filler.
I think the problem is that Nomura just works on too much shit at one time and Square Enix is really bad at managing people and teams I personally wish Nomura stayed as the director on VS13 aka FF15 when he was the director he hinted at making the game a multi part game which would of helped the game a lot because u wouldn't of had to cut so much content and change the script to fit a movie and a anime I don't know if it was a Square Enix move or Tabata move to shove it all into one game but it hurt the overall game because of it
I was watching some TH-cam video about the cut stuff (i think it was a Dean Weiss one) and saw a comment on it that just perfectly encapsulated how the story felt to me. Apologies to the original poster for bastardising his comment! "FFXV is like if FFVII was made and all of Shinra was cut and everything/everyone related to it. You start the game after the motorcycle chase out of Midgar and Tifa and Barrett are your only party members. Aerith only showed up in the City of the Ancients, Cid randomly shows up to help for random battles after you meet him, and everyone's backstory is cut. Hojo and President Shinra are killed off-screen, and you only see Sephiroth five times before the end of the game." After reading that and realising how accurate it is, I got a sad :(
Ugh I'm so disappointed about Luna. I loved her character from the little bits we got, but she needed an arc that she never got. What made me love her was a brotherhood clip of how she first approached young Noctis and her just shoving the gun out her face but she needed more. She deserved more lmao
I think she was supposed to but got scrapped due to time issues. See Ignis using spears/Lances/Staffs as his "secondary weapon". Makes no sense to me. This weapon type must've been made/reserved for Luna.
This game just confuses me, I don't think I ever loved a game this much whilst simultaneously being so disappointed by it. These conflicting emotions are messing with my head. Reminds me of MGS V.
happy with the product, disappointed that it was at the cost of another product, because if we really think about it, Versus was simply different sauce
I jumped to 13 minutes in to skip all the intro of things, and 3 minutes later I was grunting and making this comment in agreement with you, the amount of things that change is wild, Versus XIII could have been amazing
UGH, YES! I would love something like that. I desperately want to know more about Solheim and Ardyn both. I want to see Ardyn's final form. I bet he fused with Ifrit
Nex TheUser dude I'm not even done the game yet, I'm at the final boss now but already I've cried five times. Jesus ... I've never cried so much in an ff game. Love it.
Holy crap! It's scary how many people have PM'ed me within half hour of this being up! Documents, interviews and links to other source material from FFXV. I knew quite a few theories had landed with the game, but holy crap the sheer amount of story change that went on is crazy. Sooo many unanswered and cut parts of the story were bang on the money with what we had all been discussing for the last few months. Keep sending me over everything you got guys because this is juicy and hell. Also I wanna compile enough to write to square enix. I just wanna give them feedback, constructive and helpful. I wanna greatly praise them for what they got right and express what they missed the mark on that WE as FF fans want. I believe the Peasant's is actually the biggest FF exclusive channel on youtube. Hopefully that should hold a small bit of extra influence that they forward on the email to the divison 2 team. It's time to touch base with the square team at long last and get us collection of fans on talking point with these glorious creators. Let me know your thoughts on this me ol' chums :)
Final Fantasy Peasant I think a mass letter not complaining but advising SE to see where fans lie with this game. I love it but after 10 years, it should of mustered SOOO much content, story, etc compared to the standard game. I believe we can achieve some influence towards the DLC if we contact them. There project design teams should be able to scrap things this early on due to recent release. They are milking reviews and cash to establish game plans for the future.
Final Fantasy Peasant I game for that Pez! Not a petition but definitely some act to entice official answers and some kind of resolution! THE PEASANT ARMY IS ENGAGED!! LEAD US GOOD SIR!! 💖😏
If we all unite, surely we'll be heard. While I loved the game, it did make me fear for the future of the Final Fantasy (story wise, at least). Proper feedback from true fans of the series is what's needed, I think if anyone should lead the charge, it's you.
Yes, this is needed. I really don't want to see FF become too westernized which definitely happened with XV. It was a great game, and I love it dearly, but it definitely has more than a few issues especially concerning story content.
So it was 10% of a game, Rewritten story at the last minute, and incomplete overall... and still is in the top 3 games of the year... Welp, GG Gaming industry. Got one upped by a failed project that was so good it was still a masterpiece
Imagine the voice actors reactions every time they went in to record and it changed from ghosts to daemons. Probably had no idea wtf was going on 90% of the time
I've read somewhere that Final Fantasy VIII was the same. The main character was going to be Laguna but got changed at last minute. I don't know if it's true though.
This was not only very interesting, but also depressing and frustrating. I want to believe that these DLCs will go some way towards making it right, but I'm sceptical... This FFXV stuff reminds me a bit of how MGSV turned out.
***** My comparison is regarding both games coming from franchises known for storytelling with a huge passionate fan-base that ended up being a bit disappointing in the story sense due to certain things not being implemented, changed or removed from the game. Both good games but could have been one of the best in their respective franchises, Not to do with the content itself. Just my opinion :)
METAL GEAR SOLID 5 is my fave game of all time.I seriously consider it the best game ever made. Its suprising for me how many people hate it for being difrent from other MGS games. However i agree with you regarding FF XV.
+MacrossFaltenmeyer Bruh MGSV had like 3 hours of cutscenes. For a 100 HOUR GAME. The story was just awful, which is the most important aspect of a Metal Gear game.
I've spent 500 hours in Single player and 200 in Cloak and dagger Multiplayer(other modes suck-they remind me of call of duty). And let me tell you:sometimes smaller is bigger.I love MGS series as a whole and i love complex storylines, but previous MGS games kinda overdid it.Really interesting and cool dialogue/cutscenes mixed with "Grass-talk",scenes where they talked about some total useless bullshit (no offense if you think otherwise).MGS 5 does not have too many cutscenes, but they are fantastic. One camera shot moves after characters and dynamic lighting made great atmosphere, there is simply no other game with cutscenes like this.
Besides, most of the important dialogue was on videotapes, and listening to Code Talker's theories about microorganisms, parasites and how Miller and Ocelot argued with each other was much more interesting like Grasstalk from other MGS games ("Rose !I just killed 3241 men but i will talk about love like in soap opera for 300 minutes and wait for a guard to spot me !"-Raiden).Also,if you are interested in politics from in the 80's era and various conflicts,it is also much more interesting to hear about it than some soap opera BS.I just like this serious aproach, and MGS 5 is the most serious in the series. But i see you prefer difrent aproach.
I think a game that's story heavy can actually have a pretty good open world. The Witcher 3 is a pretty good example. The game has a great story and has a pretty big open world as well. One of the best games of 2015. I do love FFXV but I am very dissapointed to hear that a lot of the content was cut from the final product. Nowadays, many game that are suppose to be heavy with content are coming out incomplete and it pains me to see that this is a common thing that is happening in the gaming industry....
Genesis XV Agreed. The idea that it has to be one or the other is ridiculous. No one accepts that kind of argument for gameplay vs graphics and no one should accept it for open world vs story.
Yeah I agreed with most of the talk in this video, but the whole "linearity and story" idea is just a barrier that can be broken. The main things that really hurt this game for me (and sorry if it feels like me venting, because it probably is) were: -The rushed development cycle; -The engine; -The obsession of trying to meet the whole "10-year" hype and the expectations of features that would've never been included otherwise; -The changes with theme and character arcs, that were made for the purposes of not "offending" little babies on the internet or just because of necessity to release the game still in 2016.
its because of fools like this guy FFPeasant giving it 9/10 with 0 real game content just filler with barely any story and so many holes its basically a big black hole
I have the Witcher 3, but it couldn't catch me at all, I was drowned by the open world and side quests. It felt too big for my taste. After 5 hours I given up. :/ Not everyone loves openworld so much... I did however love it more in FFXV then I did in the Witcher 3, that really did surprise me a lot. But the priority in FF needs to stay Story, and games have certain development time limit and budget, FF main focus should stay story, the rest is lower priority in my honest opinion.
Lynxie1980 Open world games aren't for everybody as it can be overwhelming to certain people. Some people can get into the games, others can't. However I will say that the Witcher 3 handled it's story and side quests way better then FFXV. Most of the Side quests in the Witcher 3 were very immersive and had story that made you interested in the quest itself. It was just done well. If FFXV's story hadn't of been fragmented so much and would've been consistent throughout and had an immersive open world, it would've been just as good as the Witcher 3. I'm just dissapointed to hear about all this content being cut out if the official game. If they would've kept all of that content, the game would be way better than it is now.
They should of focused a lot less on the side quests. Games don't have to be 120 hours long. A 40 hour story focused game would of been great. They forgot what made the FF series so popular, the number 1 thing was story.
40 hrs and then no postgame? fuck that. i would never play such a game. i usually want so spend around 200 hours in a game, atleast. and no Dylan Hopson, the game did not only have 50 play hours. have you completed 100%? mind you, all the playstation trophies / achievements together aren't even 50% of the full game played, i would say around 20-30% content played.
Belias yes exactly. I want a really long jrpg with loads of main story quests and side quests, and hidden things all over. fuck. make these devs go play FF7/FF9 and make them model it after that and create a new story with the idea those games went on.
By side quests I meant the jobs you get that water down the main story that are basically go to this location and take a pic then you go back to the guy now he wants you to take a picture of this location. go collect frogs from this location and so on. Go over to there and get me a dog tag and then and then go to this other place where you get the same copy and past task in a different location. I don't mean the secret areas and the super bosses or the mini games. I just don't want the main story to be compromised for length.
the size of FF7/9 is not possible in a game nowadays, because games evolved and high end graphics, voice acting and detailed character model animations came along. if you want the size of ff7, you have to expect them to atleast spread it between 3-4 games. they need to make money on their games, not lose money in the process.
rumours leaking out that Stella was killed early in the game by noctis, he only see her in his dreams. but he cant remember that he killed her or why he did. and according to nomura back in the day: noctis had some sort of evil or demon inside of him, always trying to put him out on the edge.
Stop it with the Nomura hate. Nomura has had to deal with even greater problems when the game was forced to be on the Crystal Tools engine, which barely could handle the scale of the project. Then they had to wait for Luminous Engine to be made to continue the project onto the PS4. If those problems weren't around we would have gotten FFVersusXIII part 1 and 2 by now, maybe waiting for part 3 right now. So stop it with the Nomura hate. Don't spread misinformation.
Someone revealed that the initial draft for the game, when it was still versus13 (together with FF13 and agito13 in the fabula nova crystallis concept) was supposed to be something more grand. It was supposed to have deeper story and interpretation of the concept (confrontation, changes, betrayal). But then because of internal problem and bigger business opportunities for SE, they need to change the story and the game's direction, and that's when it become FFXV. From a Light vs dark concept, it was focused more as a Journey. From fighting against the God's will and defying it, it was changed to accepting your own fate. From a complex and grand title, it became a more new-comer friendly title for bigger audience. This is why the early teaser shows a different scenario and concept and vibe.
Over the course of the next year, Yes, The 30th Anniversary year, DLCs are planned already but what would really make me happy besides FF7 Remake news, would be if months down the line HALF the glorious questions that arose within the FINAL PRODUCT of the game are ANSWERED.
Shin Squall yeah squall it was so unique the design were amazing dont get me wrong i love his modern outfit but his old one seem more FF style like u said lol. I hope they brought the whole gang outfit back from FF 13 versus
44:38 - 44:42 Whoa, I just realised that Gladio was crying, the big brute was crying after Noctis confessed in the last campfire scene! That is awesome! I missed it when I first played the game and first watched this video. Now for the second time I spotted it, it's really something they put that in.
The reason it was in a long development it's becuz of the Luminous Engine. They spent so much money on it that they had to start from scratch again with the FFv13 project and implement the Luminous Engine with it. From that they had to scratch the idea of releasing it on PS3 since the PS3 wasn't powerful enough to handle the new Luminous Engine. When they moved everything to PS4 the FFV13 was already 40-55% done all the story, art, asset concepts are done but instead they wanted to implement the new stupid garbage engine that they spent soo much money on and start everything from scratch with that they hired Tabata who had no clue on the current story line and was given a deadline from the heads of SE. He had no choice but to rush the game as much as he can. But yea in the end I blame the idiot who had to put this game on the garbage Luminous Engine that is only use for this game. FFVII and KH3 are both using Unreal Engine 4 and not Luminous Engine which is fuacking retarded!!! SE are run by idiots who waste money and misleads us with some bullshit CGI trailers. FUCK YOU SE!!! WE WANT THE REAL FFver.13
Hey Peasant, and everyone else. I have some very interesting gameplay footage that definitely seems to confirm the notion that the snowy Shiva area was playable. I managed to glitch under the bridge that the train rides on, and I was able to explore the entire snowy landscape without hitting any barriers of any sort. I'll be posting gameplay as soon as I get the chance.
Giving Tabata a strict 3-year deadline to scrap everything, learn a new engine and build it from the ground up was the first of many issues for this game. So much love for Tabata for the phenomenal job he did on XV. He sacrificed a lot of his personal life to build this. Can't blame him or his staff for many of these issues, a lot of it was done to get us the game this early after 10 years. And all love for Nomura, but he did Square NO favours by being stagnant for those atrocious 7 years. Still love this game.
They could just finish the PS3 version of Versus and I'll be happy, screw the people whining about the graphics, I'd rather have that and have the game be more cost-effective and bigger and better as a result. Maybe when KH3 comes out Nomura and Squeenix will be willing to give Versus the shot it deserved, but for now, I don‘t see that happening.
k4yser I hope not, no matter what it will never meet expectations because the myth of Versus is too strong at this point we have all hyped the game up to what it could have been based on concepts, that while indeed were amazing only had 20% of actual content finished. The best thing in my opinion is to just focus on making 16 a complete, whole reality and not divide resources on a revival of Versus
I mean, I liked XV but if they had to do this to the game they should have made a whole different game so the story of versus could have been used on XVI. Oh well, I will cry myself to sleep now.
Here is my take on how to fully redeem the game. 1) Scrap each character dlc as one, this gives room for story expansion and game redesign. 2) Post-game DLC. I want to play as Noctis when hes older. Not only that, there has to be more surrounding that universe. I hope they didnt just slap XIII-3 on us. 3) Fix the engine. 2-6 months from now they can reprogram and code a complete engine that is beautiful and foolproof compared to the current patch. Camera and optical game physics need to change. Processing fixes on the Levithan and colossal bosses. They wasted to much processing power allocated to other things than actually processing the boss fight to be flawless. 4) Introduce areas and characters from Kingsglaive. There is no point to have one movie with major characters and areas leading to XV then not majorily include in XV story. 5) More items, custimizations, spells, summons, etc. There was a lot of area with barely any loot, epic items, and etc. There needed to be a game mechanic where weapons increase each subsequent level. 6) More cutscene DLC and Luna! 7) They should not do ANY prequels to XV unless contiuning the story and connecting possible universes leading to XVI. Thats a little subjective from my perspective yet it would make for an epic complete story. I know its a lot to read but it is worth thinking about. Petition time peasant? lol
Yes, they should of looked at Witcher 3. That engine and game plan from day 1 was amazing. Multiple endings and non linearity UNTILL the ending, thus all decisions affect a specific ending. One for all sucks lol. There is no point to have effective narrative in XV then lol.
Le Quan yea dude so just sign the versus 13 reboot. at this point the only thing they can do is make a pc port and let the community mod the game to a point that it went really close to nomura vision. the only thing we need now is someone leaking the original script, and if possible original FNC lyric soundtrack too.
I don't agree that you can only have the open world or a great story. I honestly do feel that FFVX would have been able to have both by, if anything, expanding the open world but still going linear in the second half. Adding and extra city. Expanding the opening (perhaps setting it during the time Noctis and Luna were in Tenabre and having the invasion transition into years later where FFXV starts) meeting Luna before Accordia and perhaps traveling there with her. Bring in Cor and Cid a bit more as the Bro's journey mirrored Regis's one many years ago.
I agree with you too. Maybe well get more in the story DLC there suppose to be adding but I doubt it. I defiantly feel there needs to be more luna and ardyn even Cor. I feel like Cor character has a lot of potential for good material.
I blame both Square and the SJWs. Sure Square should have stuck to their guns, but the SJWs shouldn't have said anything in the first place. It's not their story and they weren't even going to buy the game either way.
NamelessBadassMOFO Not if it's a crappy vision where women barely exist and when they do its to surve male characters. no one needs that, they couldn've done better instead of just nothing.
DevilHunter1994 SJWs only have the power you give to them. The problem is that Square and other big companies trust their "diversity officers" more than their consumers.
oh wow, she got beat as a child and would have spent more time worrying about being useful to noct. totally would have saved her stale character lol nah stella and her role would have been much more interesting
showing her getting beat as a child without it having any impact on how her character acts or the plot itself would have been a cheap way to 'fix' how luna has no qualities about her that makes her unforgettable. shes a cliche imo and throwing in a tragic past wouldnt save her from being as bland as bread
15-2 starring Aranea, Iris, Cindy, Cor, Biggs and Wedge. Or even better. A DLC episode covering the 10 years Noctis was absent focusing on Iris becoming the Daemon slayer with Cor and Aranea becoming the much respected warrior she is with Biggs and Wedge.
I get this image of wise-cracking, sarcastic Aranea walking through a wrecked town and just lighting it up with her no bullshit attitude... that woman deserved better.
She didn't have many scenes in the game but she was the most involved and is the best female character in the game. So she wasn't really forgotten or shoved away in the game at all. She even gets to be a guest party member for the longest time even after you finish the game. But of course, more of her would have been amazing.
Long story short, FFXV team needs to rectify the gaping holes they left for XV, starting with planned DLC. This is a main installment too so everyone's expectations were HIGH AF And same goes for the expected Season Pass respectively... Can they reclaim their own throne...
Nope, he never hand over FF15 to Tabata. It was a decision made up by the higher up so of course Nomura had no choice. Which is why FF15 is Tabata game and not the game Nomura had in mind.
Sad.... Nomura's game seems to have a cooler story. Not that Tabata's story was bad. Bet Tabata's story would be better than it is now if he gives us all the cut scenes! Even the Luna ones!! There will always be weak people and cry babies in the world, they shouldnt have to be a reason for why it had to be removed. She went through all that.. so we are just supposed to know nothing about what she had to go through?
Sasank Kodi but Nomura did not have a concept for his game. 7 years an only 20% was done and he kept changing his ideas for the game all the time to the point at one time it was suppose to be a musical. tabata may have screwed up but he did good with what he was death with.
I think the devs did the right thing with changing Luna to avoid a clumsy and disrespectful portrayal of abuse. That said, I think Stella would have been wayyy better. FF has both a tradition of having really sexist bimbo-ish characters, but it also has some of the most powerful figures in the gaming industry - Terra, Celes, Lightning, Aerith, just to name a few. Some characters even feature a bit of both; for example, Tifa is quite top-heavy in her physical design, but I challenge you to find a more loyal, determined character than her. She's the one that rallies the team after Cloud disappears, and she's the one that mentally rebuilds Cloud. She was also her romantic rival's closest friend, which quite honestly takes a lotta guts. So the whole "SJWs are ruining everything" really doesn't make sense. People just want more realistic portrayals of people. We never had this problem before the characters went 3D, is all I'm saying.
I kinda agree with some of your statements but the "SJWs ruined everything'" well I don't agree with it. First of all SJWs are willing complained about anything even if they didn't play the game and even if Luna stand up against the abuser they would still complain about it. We don't how scene is going to play out.
TheBoreOfTheMorning I mean "realistic" as in a portrayal that most women would be able to relate to. Guys aren't the only people playing these games. By the way, your reply sounds kinda triggered, I don't think I'm the one particularly warrioring here; you don't have to agree with me. I recommend that you pretend the person you talk to on the internet is right in front of you.
Thank god someone said it. I love FF13, the linearity went a bit too far but it had a great story and amazing cutscenes. Companies need to stop trying to make every rpg franchise an open world game. Ugh, I'm sick of it.
I didn't like 13, or 12, but 1-10 was great. I agree that linearity is far better than open world if and only if, it positively affects the ability to tell a great story clearly and concisely. Thus, leaving no open-ended questions. It sounds to me like FFvs13 would have been the far better game.
Honestly I sit firmly on your side of the fence. Despite how much I loved the game, at the end I felt incomplete like there was something missing but I wasn't sure what. After a while, I started noticing many things were never explained. Some never even touched upon and ignored entirely. And now after watching this, I see why I was upset. FFXV is a wonderful game but it's not Versus. And Versus is what I was so hyped for for so long. Thanks Jake. You've cracked my heart open and now my feels are coming out again. Excellent video though you magnificent bastard
God forbid we have female characters that actually do something. Stella definitely seemed more interesting than Luna. Though with all the stuff cut out who knows what Luna could have been like. Problematic stuff aside, Luna has zero character development. It is possible to have problematic scenes and have her be a fully realised character. But then again we all know SE dont know how to do characters very well. Why else do have that weird fan service of X-2 and XIII Lightning Returns? Both of which could have better had the initial games been designed right. And speaking of female characters, where is the Demon Hunter Iris DLC? And they didnt want to have a 10 year older Cindy? You talk about SJWs and yet the only reason Cindy is in the game is for her corny accent and her underwear. At the very least thank goodness Aranea was a badass.
Agreed. The complaints about the female characters in this game are justified. I wish they would have kept Stella's character; Luna was a disappointment, to say the least. And Cindy was blatant fun service, which is just pathetic. She was probably created to sell more merchandise and/or to attract more teenage boys to the game.
2 years later and the thought of this still has me riled up. I’ve come to realize that with all this drama, everyone is looking for a source to blame, and it’s mostly directed at either Tabata or Nomura. I don’t think it’s fair for either of them. The versus team was majorly screwed by XIII. The fact that some of the team got moved to 13 and they were waiting for the engine to be developed was out of Nomuras control. Meanwhile he was still working on KH games as well. Tabata was thrown into a mess and had to meet deadlines. But I don’t like what XV became. Versus evidently would have been a better game. I still stand by that Stella and her story would have been much more interesting than Luna. I’m glad the Luna scenes were cut. In an interview Tabata said Luna was replacing Stella because they needed a stronger female lead and not a damsel in distress. I definitely did not get that from Luna. And then you’re telling me that she’s suppose to have been abused and have crying scenes? I suppose she could have inner strength but I would much rather see Stella pull out her rapier and stand against Noctis as an equal/rival. I can’t help but think that XV got to where it is riding off the coattail of Versus. From the first trailer in 2007, there was so much hype and it only built over 10 years. People say “well at least the game was released/finished” but I don’t agree. It’s not really the same game. It’s like the same characters thrown into a spin off. Yes, some elements are the same but the changes are too great. Mainly the absence of the “versus” plot. How much cooler would it have been if the love interest was pit against the protag as the main plot point? RIP Versus, there was so much lost potential.
For the main group's designs, it was more than likely set in stone and maybe even obligatory since they had designer Hiromu Takahara of the Roen fashion house, already taking and shipping orders for the official apparel collab in April. Besides additional character designs like Ardyn, Cidney, and Gentiana were already realized in 2010 by Roberto Ferrari. roen-ff15.com/en/html/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Final_Fantasy_XV#Character_design
So essentially, SJWs ruined Lunafreya's character by making the directors too scared to show Lunafreya's full story that deals withthe abuse she endured since the Empire claimed Tenebrae. I'm really not surprised by that truth and I'm highly angry this happened.
Nina Bradford Except that's not the case. People get tired of female characters just being punching bags for the male characters. Fuck that "resiliency" bs. Make Luna STRONG on her own with or without Noctis as motivation. I hate when every female character is ever only made for the fucking guy character.
SevereOutcast Dude, there's plenty of female characters who aren't made to be punching bags or prizes. Stop fucking generalizing and open your eyes. It's SJWs like you that are to blame for developers being scared to stay true to their games and story. Sincerely, fuck off.
Lunafreya has to be a STRONG character to endure losing herself and her kingdom to the Empire. She fought like hell to stay alive and watched as her loved ones perished. She even tried to save Regis from his grim fate. Lunafreya is a good female character. You're just too busy being salty over nothing! I can bet cash you didn't bother to watch Kingsglaive to further understand Lunafreya's character. Instead, you bring your wannabe Feminist Tumblr shit here and expect everyone to bow down to your stupid bullshit. Kindly fuck the hell on off.
You stupid SJWs are the reason why no one takes modern day Feminism seriously. Instead of attacking video games, how about you protest about the shit happening to women in Aleppo? No wait. It's easier for your worthless ass you cry about video games than to protest on topics that matter!
i loved the game and its story soooo much but hearing that the original versus 13 story was far darker grittier and had alot more to offer just made me so sad. thay should've just sticked to what nomura was going for and in my opinion it would have been a 10/10 in that regard
This was a really good video, thanks for that. It sort of made FF XV a "better" game for me by explaining some of the core parts of the story that in the end were cut/changed. I loved playing FF XV, just hated how the story was handled. But then again, I'm a huge MGS fan and actually loved MGS 4 as an ending to the series, and absolutely hated MGS V for its handling of the story and changing core tropes of what a MGS game is supposed to be.
I'd appreciate if you ask or at least credit me if you use my montages in your videos (45:32 - ....). Other than that good summary and I pretty much agree with everything you've said here.
I hate the cut out of Luna's background story the most. That's the shittest explanation ever to cut out stuff about how she was treated by other people. It was supposed to be fantasy based on reality. Plus I think addressing such matters as abuse and being beaten up would actually get positive comments for the game, especially from females (looking how people were complaining about Cindy and Aranea) - if she was shown to be severely abused yet still able to stand in front of soldiers point the guns on her later on, people would got instant admiration for her.
Eva Hane I think the main thing people DIDN'T want was another Damsel in distress. I fucking hate when female characters are only extensions of their male counterpart. I don't ever wanna play a game where the female's only saving grace is her adoration for the male protag. That shit disgusts me now. Make Luna STRONG on her own (which she is on FFXV)
Dominic Ramey I was getting annoyed with chapter 13 but then I realized Noctis himself must have been pissed off as well. So in a way we were kind of being put in Noctis' shoes. Being real annoyed, on edge, impatient etc. like him lol.
Damn, beat it last night, honestly one of the best games I ever played, loved the story, the world, the lore, the gameplay, the characters. But after seeing all the stuff that was missing I really wish we got all that too. Having the Tenebrae/Empire continent be explorable and more stuff in the World of Ruin wouldve been great. And I feel like a few cutscenes were missing. Not anything super grand, but whenever we'd meet a god I'd feel that we'd suddenly have all this new information without being told. Also I feel like Luna being beaten would be weird because she'd be the Oracle. If she wasnt 'important' like being an oracle or a princess I'd be fine with it, but having such a powerful person be abused seems weird. I wouldve loved more story for Luna. So we basically are missing tons of cutscenes, the whole dark world, the shiva dungeon level, the tenebrae dungeon level, open world lestallum, and open world altissia? I would love for these to be added but it seems like so much. If it were to be broken into 3 games I'd imagine start to Leviathan fight, then the empire's continent, then dark world.
but if it's sakaguchi-san the game would never be an open world action rpg it would've been a standard turn base game, i know it's what many of their old school fans want but i enjoy action rpg more
When Nomura was still the director of FF15 he hinted that FF15 wasn't going to be the only game The World of Versus Epic so maybe 2 or 3 games I would much rather take that over a Movie and Anime I don't know if that was a Square Enix move or Tabata move either way it was a bad one imo because with multiple games they could of easily fleshed out each character and the story and had way less cut content
Fact. Too much happened off screen. (Within XV's story and the within the development team change from 2006 to 2016) Why did Nomura leave? Did he ditch the project or get kicked off?
Still contradictory, which one is it? If he had two other projects and prioritized THEM over XV/Versus13 then that means he ditched the project. Sounds to me he chose to leave it behind which kinda annoys me
But seriously, if he wasn't allowed to work on his own project what made someone else work on it? Like, what is copyright. I would've prefered nothing at all than the half-finished half-assed potential masterpiece we were given tbh
There's something you're not understanding LASHINGS UK. He had no choice in the matter. It was either 'let Tabata take over', or 'kiss his job goodbye'. And copyrights don't mean jack shit when the company you're working for has ownership of it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that appreciates Stella. I'm sorry, but Lunafreya is shit. You can hate me all you want, but I think Stella is/was more interesting. I got into a huge dispute with some knab on here a few weeks ago about why I stanned for Stella.
I dunno Luna keeping the starscourge at bay, healing people from turning into Daemons, and speaking to gods. Keeping the world from going into ruin. Sound's pretty bad arse. So what do you know from Stella besides how she looks like.
"what do you know about Stella?" She liked Noctis however had to fight him cause she was from Niflheim. She had the same power as Noctis. She apparently would be killed by him, She was in the party Noctis was at, when a Niflheim ship came crashing down. You basically knew 2 lovers from rival "Countries" had feelings for each other, but they had to fight each other even though they loved one another. That is what you know about her, Also, she was the princess of Niflheim, daughter to Idolas. You clearly haven't followed Versus XIII since 2006 as I have. Even Nomura said the story was heavily inspired from William Shakespear's "Romeo and Juliet". That seems pretty dope and tragic to me. 2 people who loved each other but had no choice but to fight and kill each other (which would be explained in the story) seems more tragic than a childhood friends not seeing each other for years and then one dies by the hand of the Villain.
NoctisZeroWorld This is why I get quiet when people ask me why I like Stella or why do I think Stella is better than Lunafreya. If you've followed this game for the past ten years, you would know why. I agree with you 1000%; a tale of lovers whose countries are at war, creating this conflict to sustain a volatile relationship because of their rivalry makes for a much better story than that which was in XV.
luna needs a background; scenes showing how she is as a person, and interactions with noctis as luna, not as an oracle/political instrument. thats how people connect with and understand characters. they could show 20 cutscenes of luna being beat up or shit but it still wouldnt make her any more better. instead of being “the girl who talked to gods” she’ll just become “the girl who was beat up and can talk to gods” still makes absolutely no fucking sense
I just finished the story yesterday after putting it off for ages. I fell apart at the "Last Campsite" title lol...so you can imagine how much of a mess I was by the time Stand By Me started playing and I got to see all of my photos!! I'm now working through your videos re the lore and what could have been. All very, very interesting and sad at the same time (I'd sell a kidney to get some Ardyn DLC..or even his own game!). However, personally, I love the game as it is and for what it is and I'm eternally grateful to SE for it. Re the open world/linear points..I'm greedy, I'd like both lol. Why can't we have both at some point in the future? The linear games aside, I also played both the MMO's (XI for years) and then XIV ..I love open world, I love the grind (heh, XI!!)...but I also love my story. Agree that the car customisation is a bit meh (I pre-ordered the limited collectors edition and I've used one skin from that for the Regalia..that's it!!) Love your videos, thanks for your thoughts. I'm yet to tackle Pitioss but can't wait due to your comments about the lore (omg!!) ...and on we go!
In the end, the complete FFXV we've been waiting for would need to have at least 2 Blu-ray discs of how big it is. The game was cut even so the disc is full of content. So full that there wasn't space enough to add the scenes from Kingsgkaive and omen trailer in the actual disc. I feel like ffxv was made for a ps5.
Thanks for being SUPER informative throughout the whole video and NOT being a clickbait! I was expecting 90% of unrelated contents and one brief moment of answering the video title in the middle of the video. Too many clickbaits on youtube but you're the complete opposite. FKING GENUINE THUMBNAIL! Liked and subscribed!
I've got to agree with you, man. I LOVE this game, it's a fantastic story, beautifully rendered, enjoyable to play, but with what got cut, what could have been... breaks my heart. I would have crapped right in my pants to go and explore Dark Lestallum and reconnect with everyone one by one. I also think it would have been cool to have the option to trade party members--like swap out Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio for Cor, Iris, and Aranea, or any mix/match therein. There's so much I hope to see from the game even now.
The dark just FEELS like you should have been able to explore it, don't you think? Takes me back to playing KOTOR 2. You can always tell in a game where they've chopped bits off :(
if this is true this is depressing as hell. i like FFXV but it looks like Square Enix didn't really have a clear idea from the start, was encountered with development issues, and they let the SJW bullshit get in the way of some of some of the things they may have wanted to do. Tabata needs his own opportunity to make a FF game from the ground up because i think he'd do a far better job than Nomura. Nomura needs to stick to one project at a time. I think they'd get a far better result from him along with financial and critical success. Nomura did that with the KH series.
How you can blame Nomura when the original story, characters were designed by him..There were many reasons why the ps3 version of FF Versus 13 wasn't released. He was underhanded by FFXIII's delay and most of his team had to help put with 13's completion and not to mention they made three crappy sequels to that series. There were always issues with the game engines as well. Habata is the only one that can be held responsible for changing these elements because the game we have now is HIS version.
The original concept for the story was interesting, but the question in the end is, would it have been any good? Story is one thing, but more important in my opinion is characters, FF15 ended up getting a trimmed down and simpler story, but they nailed the character aspect of it, so I'm not mad about it. But yeah, the most unfortunate thing is, they they also trimmed down on side characters they decided to use in this game, I would have loved seeing more Ravus, Cor, Iris, Aranea and Cindy in the later game; yeah, world of ruin should have been a bit more fleshed out, even a little would have been enough imo. What I don't like is when people bitch on Tabata that he changed the story etc, these people need a damn reality check, the original concept (at least world wise) was way too big and practically impossible to get done in a reasonable amount of time, and who knows, maybe the original story wasn't that good in the script (aside from interesting concepts) so they felt a need to change it regardless. I like that SE does flesh it out a bit more in the end, but let's be honest here, it should have been in the game when it released; So I'm torn, I like what is in FF15 at the moment so I enjoy playing it but on the other hand, waiting for a few more months to fully flesh it out wouldn't have killed me. like an early to mid 2017 would have been perfect probably. ALSO, fuck those SJWs.
Gosh... I knew it. The backstory of Luna... I fucking knew it. The critics I hear about Luna today hinted me that they cut the scenes because of... sjw. For me, Luna is a very strong female character, she would be even stronger if they went with her original story. I liked her character. I understood her dynamic with Noctis and their relationship. The urge she has to facilitate his calling and aid him in his transformation and his willingness to protect her in return. Which is why I completely understand why he was devastated by the fact he couldn't protect her, even though they hadn't seen each other for quite a while and had an arranged marriage... I guess people in the west don't understand these relationship dynamics and arranged marriages. In the west, people have this fixed idea that arranged marriages and traditional female roles are inherently bad, which is not correct, but... whatever.
FF VIII was open world. I'm sure there were more, 8 was just my favorite. I missed that freedom. So far 15 is bringing back that feeling (PC player, so I just started recently).
you know, my ideas for a multiplayer mode are like a monster hunter type of multiplayer in which you have to clear a dungeon before facing the boss, and every character would be like a class of some sort, like Ignis being the support which can only use daggers and lances or magic and give life buffs, prompto being the marksman being able to use every mechanic weapon snd giving speed or dodging buffs, gladio the tank with strenght buffs and noct having to use a mandatory sword (as it is the only exclusive weapon for him) and another weapon, every other character would fall into one of the four categories and the scoring system could be based on the hunter's rank in the game, you'll face different monsters and craft different weapons from them with elemental affinities n shit
The game's ending is quite definite. People die when they are killed. All of the villains are dead, main hero and his love interest are dead and the world is at peace. Sequel doesn't really fit in my opinion.
Tristafeyr Parts of the story are missing for sure. And if there is a part 2 they can just make the gods bless both Noctis and Luna with life for saving the world, it's as easy as that.
No hate and I respect your opinion, but personally, I don't agree with a part 2, especially with the idea of bring the main characters back to life just like that. As much as XV has missing parts, its ending is well put in place. For the character revivals, just look at Halo 5 and how it completely destroyed the emotions of the ending of Halo 4 and implemented a bullshit reason to bring back Cortana despite what happened in Halo 4.
If petitions ever actually work, someone needs to make one for Versus XV immediately. Make it in Unreal so it works, and all will be right with the world!
+Lux Noctis Gaming Even if they rebooted the game, I don't know if I'd feel comfortable paying $60 again for something I should have gotten in the first place.
+xMysticxbutterfly I am not opposed to a reboot. Would be nice, since I think the people that want it deserve it, as long the it fixes this one's huge flaws(mainly story)
I enjoyed the game we got enough to justify the purchase for me, although I totally understand not wanting to buy the game you thought you were already getting again. I think Tabata did the best he could with a bad situation, and they simply spread Nomura too thin. He was working on several projects the whole time, most of the Versus team had to switch to development on XIII because of engine troubles I believe, and progress being slower than expected. It was a nightmare from start to finish for Versus/XV unfortunately. I would love to see Nomura realize his vision once he's done with KH3 though. If it's true that the iteration of XV we got was only really in development for 3 years, give Nomura and a full team 4 to focus on XV Versus exclusively, and I think we'd end up with something great.
+xMysticxbutterfly Agreed, there is just too much missing for DLC/updates to fix. In trying to cater to w/e market they were going for I think they lost some core values in the development process, story being one of them. In my opinion this is the least FF like game I have played by far.
This may be a long shot, but just like how XIV was rebooted and majorly updated to be A Realm Reborn perhaps a major update could come to XV to give us the Versus mode or a later DLC. There is a rumor SE is going to treat XV like how Blizzard treats Diablo III by always adding new content so maybe the versus mode will be DLC or perhaps the Versus elements will be added into the XV game itself. Yeah it is a long shot and probably won't happen, but it is possible.
(By what I heard) The Omen trailer shows Bahamut revealing to King Regis what would happen should the boys stay back and the city stay defended. Noctis would go off on his own , only to be lead into strife by the illusions (the dog) of Ardyn and Daemons . Only to be lead to blame himself for the death of Luna. The vision shows all the challenges in the game even Noctis losing his powers due to the Empire's machine. It also shows him use every style of weapon his companions use. The vision then ends back in the real world before Kingsglaive. Regis then ponders if the path to the destruction of Insomnia and sending off his son is correct. (just wanted to make that clear for you) Two videos by Dean Weiss has very helpful info of knowing more of Stella "Final Fantasy XV - Luna vs. Stella" and "Final Fantasy XV - Why Was Stella Replaced?" I think FFXV gets too much hate than it should have (if you wanna make a better game then go for it.) not trying to criticize but I find this game 100% better than any FF games like 1-6, I love all ff games believe it, I just find everything better in FFXV. It honestly just breaks my heart seeing all the hate on the game and Luna, and how they prefer a character (Stella) that never was in the game or movie and just a trailer that's not important, if you understand. Like you said, they stressed a lot making the game and is very good, they did SO amazing making it all
I also believe that Stella and Noctis back in versus had something to do with "the cycle of life and death" as shown in the creation myth of FFXIII. What made me think this is the cutscene where Stella and Noctis are about to fight. The light turning up behind each of them is exactly the colors of said cycle. Noctis is blue (death, which would fit perfectly) and Stella is the Life (orange) ... I came with a lot of Story material just from this😆
Oh ffs the one thing I said this game needed was a final form ardyn! complete wih that creepy arse face and daemon wings which takes place inside the crystal after you kill him on earth ... fml XD great video bud
Uncanny Broderz Sadly it's so obvious in the game. him bowing at noctis. Next second he's in agony and the demons are very visible on him almost trying to escape his body. Missed fight...
Benjamin Andersen yeah I thought so to, it sucks that it's been chopped to shit but if they add even a few bits like revus and a daemon ardyn fight I'll be over the moon
i felt the same. i love FF and i love FFXV. have already played almost 200hours and am at 98% completion. the story did feel underwhelming and it did lack a lot of substance (dont get me wrong.. still cried at the end lol) but i was wishing that the story went a little more in-depth. Gameplay and mechanics are amazing! there are a few tweaks that they can use but battles are almost perfect. honestly, i feel like this is the greatest FF game ever and i love it but it needed more from the story.
I'd like to know what happened to the emperor. I assume that Ardyn killed him but still I wanted to make that man pay for killing Regis, occupying Insomnia, and stealing the crystal.
Maxs that's how I felt. There was no closure to what was your driving fore for the journey:revenge your dad and take back the kingdom and none of it happened. I mean I guess you can say he took back the kingdoms in a way but I don't consider taking back including the protagonist dying in the process
+TheCatsMeow I felt that Noctis wanted revenge against the emperor for killing his father and Ardyn for killing Luna (I knew she was going die anyway and I feel bad about it). plus getting back the crystal, purging the demons, and restoring the dawn. but the ten year time skip and Noctis dying was a little bit unwanted, kinda reminded me of a modern day King Arthur story.
What I really want to know is. What is the motivation of the emperor in the first place? I mean, he steals the crystal for what? Even in game he only has 2 or 3 lines and we never heard anything about him. And also, his throne......you see Regis' throne? For a small country than a big capitalist empire, why Lucis has a more grandeur throne. The emperor's throne is such a BS, how small it is and it sits next to computer servers????
+Marendra Adhipura Maybe we'll find out more about the emperor at some point in the future. As for his throne room, I don't think we saw it yet. after all they were in a facility made for Magitech manufacturing and demonic studies.
The emperor turned into that annoying Demon thing that followed you around in Chapter 13 and randomly attacked until you finally got to kill him before you fought Ravus.
It's already 2020, and I'm still hung up on what Versus XIII could have been. Putting together all the bits and pieces from this video, the plot (or what I can make of it) blows my mind. While I appreciate XV (the characters, the music, etc.), damn, it's hard to understand why Square decided to scap this--Nomura made it to be epic. I get that they wanted a wider release (in the end, it's a business, and if certain subjects close doors in some countries, i.e. allegedly, one is of the concept of death in China, well, that doesn't work to make up for costs already accrued, and they couldn't possibly let that happen given the resources that had been poured into making XV). Still, had they stuck to the original plan and pushed on with Versus XIII, I think the sales would have taken care of itself because popularity (due to a significantly better plot, mechanics, and great characters) would have caused leagues of FF fans to pick it up. Well, there's Verum Rex, so even if we don't see it in FF, perhaps the vision will still see the light of day in a different form. I'm gunning for that. I still want to see that dream realized one way or another. Gonna keep my vigil.
Versus XIII Plot was basically Hamlet, Ardyn was the traitorous uncle that usurps the throne, and you're forced to run. On your way back to reclaim the kingdom you were supposed to learn how to tap into/control your Eyes of Death and deal with your ancestors of the past, ghosts, and delusions. I'm not exactly sure where Stella would have fit into the game unless she was a constant antagonist and you get an M.Night Shymalan ending where you find out she was Murdered a long time ago, and you were dealing with a spirit the entire time. I would have loved to see the Entirety of Versus XIII's story, or at least a completely fleshed out FFXV story.
Thanks Pez for another amazing video. I whole-heartedly believe that the original story is the one that you presented in this and past theory videos. It was SO obvious that scenes/story/areas were cut when playing through the game. I felt completely rushed once I left for Altissia, like being forcefully dragged through the story like there wasn't enough time to tell it. SE said that the 2nd 'half' of the story is linear, but I spent nearly 40 hours before getting to Altissia, and maybe 5-10 hours afterwards to finish the game. That is hardly 'half'. I felt super emotional during the last scene where Noctis spoke to his brothers at camp, but there was something holding me back from completely releasing that emotion. I think it's because of all the plot holes and confusion I had about the story that made me not 100% connected. I really hope SE will flesh out the story and the world (more explorable areas) through DLCs and/or expansions.
3 key points to add in XV: 1. Story Content - add 20+hrs of content to 40-50hrs 2. Explorable Areas - Some hidden areas in Lucis - Crown City - Other areas in Altissia - Tenebrae - Other parts of the land (maybe towns) during train sequences 3. Playable Characters - Cor, Aranea, Iris, Luna, or even Ravus The potential to be the best FF ever is there. If SE can make it happen, then i'll be the happiest mofo on the planet.
Lol might get hate for this, but if the game was truly finished I legitimately feel that it would be the greatest FF of all time.
dude, I'm worried I might have to agree with you lol
I might have to agree with u mate
Rithysak Serey I was really really hoping that this game would finally dethrone 7, but because nomura decided to dick around for 7 years and left tabata with an idea on the brink of death... This is what we got...
Fuck
Hopefully the story patches will change our minds
Rithysak Serey I really hope so m8. I honestly don't mind at all if it takes even a year to fix the story and implement some bomb ass cutscenes. I just want a finished product.
ffxv is a 10/10 in my heart, a 7.5/10 in my brain.
The game needed like 5-10 hours of more story.
I still REALLY loved it though.
ffxv story is f**ked up , the emperor and the other supporting characters has no story whats so ever, as if Noctis was fighting an invisible enemy, it reminds of MGS5 story
FF15 is unfinished game which could have been a masterpiece, the potential to bliud a great story out of these characters is vast , yet SE f**ked up.
DarkSilV blame fucking nomura for stalling for 7 years m8
I was mad that the cutscenes seemed less than side quest story scenes
I don't dislike FF XV, but thinking about what could have been is frustrating as hell and almost makes me hate the actual game.
It saddens me even more than the actual ending of the game.
couldn't agree more. I feel you too.
Couldn't have said it better
Pray that the opinions are so deviated Square decides that they fcked up and releases the 6 month development worth dlc or the remaster/GOTY edition is completely uncut and chock full of good shit.
KA1N3R Your not alone bro
Alright square Enix, release a 50gb patch and give us the story we deserve.
mike lambert That would take up hella space ony console 😂😂
Darude Sandstorm Get an external hard drive
***** True I think Microsoft made something like that for the Xbox one that's like 3TB
That 50gb would be worth it though
Welp, so much for that happening...
Best way to sum up this game is by the only name I can think of calling it. "The unfinished masterpiece"
A lot of stuff felt rushed. No explanation or reasoning. It was a fun game but when I finished it, I was like, that's it? What?
Tony Bebop so what your saying the way the game ended was a what to u? you must have not felt enough emotions towards noctis
Emmanuel Robles oh no. I did. It was when you left to altissia it completely changed. This is just me, but you visit tanabrae but you don't do anything. The train, not much. Chapter 13, a different game. I felt they grabbed different ideas they had from before and just put it the game.
those sections you mention werent bad at all. the pacing was just off. it should have had something leading up to it. that whole part felt like it was cut up and we were served just a few chunks.
and this video seems to confirm that
i should have waited 1/2 Year New Players in the Future will have much more fun with Story Patches /offroad Regalia , 120 level Cap and much more :/ after i saw all this changes in the Future i felt like a beta Player
yeah 100+ of content...thats it? what?
it's all perspective...and wannabe shit tier critics choose to have a perspective that it's not what the wanted or expected based on nothing
THATS IT? funny how there is so much extra shit to do and ppl complain about that....and the same fucking shit heads complained about how "LINEAR" 13 was and how there was nothing to explore
shit head idiots will never be happy..they dont get that nothign will ever be perfect and there will always be something to complain about if they care more about complaining than enjoying the work of art that geniuses spent 10 fucking years on...jesus christ
seeing everything that was cut out, makes you realize how incomplete and messy the game was storywise, like it could have been a fucking 1000/10 and way better than FFVII if it wasn't for the fucking development hell that it had FUCK. ME.
I gree with you
ffxv story is f**ked up , the emperor and the other supporting characters has no story whats so ever, as if Noctis was fighting an invisible enemy, it reminds of MGS5 story
FF15 is unfinished game which could have been a masterpiece, the potential to build a great story out of these characters is vast , yet SE f**ked up.
Let's cry ourselves to sleep.
They did worked together around 2012 - 2013, but Nomura was moved to the FFVII Remake project and thus Tabata become the main director
I blamed Tabata? I don't know how you could jump to that conclusion from what I said.
I think the problem is that Nomura just works on too much shit at one time and Square Enix is really bad at managing people and teams I personally wish Nomura stayed as the director on VS13 aka FF15 when he was the director he hinted at making the game a multi part game which would of helped the game a lot because u wouldn't of had to cut so much content and change the script to fit a movie and a anime I don't know if it was a Square Enix move or Tabata move to shove it all into one game but it hurt the overall game because of it
I want more romance scenes or just scenes in general of Noctis and Luna. I spent like fucking half the game trying to get to the bitch and she dies.
Endless / Paradox I just beat the game I know right!!!
Hojo and President Shinra are killed off-screen, and you only see Sephiroth five times before the end of the game."
After reading that and realising how accurate it is, I got a sad :(
this is so sad and accurate T_T
Ugh I'm so disappointed about Luna. I loved her character from the little bits we got, but she needed an arc that she never got. What made me love her was a brotherhood clip of how she first approached young Noctis and her just shoving the gun out her face but she needed more. She deserved more lmao
TheCatsMeow also they said that Noctis would be able to join her party. But that never happened >.>
Man, you got Versus 13 *down*. This makes me want to play *that* game!
6 years later, and it's still painful to hear all of this..
I jumped to 13 minutes in to skip all the intro of things, and 3 minutes later I was grunting and making this comment in agreement with you, the amount of things that change is wild, Versus XIII could have been amazing
I want 10 hours of cutscenes and like a long FMV about Ardyn's past!!
Nina Bradford I'd kill for a Brotherhood style anime or CG movie about Ardyn and Solheim and the original scourge.
UGH, YES! I would love something like that. I desperately want to know more about Solheim and Ardyn both. I want to see Ardyn's final form. I bet he fused with Ifrit
Nina Bradford yes I want!!!
Ardyn is all I need ever since I watched Kingsglaive. He really is the best...
Agreed. I want an Ardyn action figure so badly
I feel you man, I really love FFXV, but this is not the FFXV I hyped
Nex TheUser It was dogshit, lad. I was gutted.
Pe Pe disappointing? Yes. Dog shit? Far from it. The game just didn't have a clear direction.
Pe Pe Worse then the expectations but better then most games of 2016
Nex TheUser dude I'm not even done the game yet, I'm at the final boss now but already I've cried five times. Jesus ... I've never cried so much in an ff game. Love it.
blame consoles limitations
Final Fantasy Peasant
I think a mass letter not complaining but advising SE to see where fans lie with this game.
Final Fantasy Peasant much luv peasant!
Genesis XV
Agreed. The idea that it has to be one or the other is ridiculous. No one accepts that kind of argument for gameplay vs graphics and no one should accept it for open world vs story.
Yeah I agreed with most of the talk in this video, but the whole "linearity and story" idea is just a barrier that can be broken.
The main things that really hurt this game for me (and sorry if it feels like me venting, because it probably is) were:
-The rushed development cycle;
-The engine;
-The obsession of trying to meet the whole "10-year" hype and the expectations of features that would've never been included otherwise;
-The changes with theme and character arcs, that were made for the purposes of not "offending" little babies on the internet or just because of necessity to release the game still in 2016.
its because of fools like this guy FFPeasant giving it 9/10 with 0 real game content just filler with barely any story and so many holes its basically a big black hole
I have the Witcher 3, but it couldn't catch me at all, I was drowned by the open world and side quests. It felt too big for my taste.
After 5 hours I given up. :/
Not everyone loves openworld so much...
Story and music :) without the music I would've hated a lot of the FF actually.
I just don't want the main story to be compromised for length.
the size of FF7/9 is not possible in a game nowadays, because games evolved and high end graphics, voice acting and detailed character model animations came along. if you want the size of ff7, you have to expect them to atleast spread it between 3-4 games. they need to make money on their games, not lose money in the process.
rumours leaking out that Stella was killed early in the game by noctis, he only see her in his dreams. but he cant remember that he killed her or why he did. and according to nomura back in the day: noctis had some sort of evil or demon inside of him, always trying to put him out on the edge.
oh, sry. u talked about later in your video, my mistake:)
nick Larsen this sounds so epic
nick Larsen I would've LOVED for this story to have made it..
the ultimate tragedy. now I want it
I so believed that could have been a possibility! Now that would have been an entertaining story!
This is why the early teaser shows a different scenario and concept and vibe.
as a newcomer I like the game but Id have loved versus 13 even more
Here you go team,
Give us the 6 months worth of DLC
Just let us have it. Now's your chance to redeem yourselves
Over the course of the next year, Yes, The 30th Anniversary year,
DLCs are planned already but what would really make me happy besides
FF7 Remake news, would be if months down the line HALF the glorious
questions that arose within the FINAL PRODUCT of the game are ANSWERED.
I swear i really hope deep down they give us the Noctics and the gang Versus 13 outfit back!!!!
+The Flash i totally agree with you .. Noct firts design was so FF stylish ... i need at least a dlc bro
Shin Squall yeah squall it was so unique the design were amazing dont get me wrong i love his modern outfit but his old one seem more FF style like u said lol. I hope they brought the whole gang outfit back from FF 13 versus
Yeah I agree with y'all. I rather design from FFXIII Versus as well. They better give us DLC.
At this point, we shouldn't get a Final Fantasy Versus XIII... we should get a Final Fantasy Versus XV!
I don’t understand why did’t they stick with the old engine of versus 13 was 55 percent done
Time to lighten everyone's mood
I've come up with a new RECIPEH.
LOL😂😂
Hey Peasant, and everyone else. I have some very interesting gameplay footage that definitely seems to confirm the notion that the snowy Shiva area was playable. I managed to glitch under the bridge that the train rides on, and I was able to explore the entire snowy landscape without hitting any barriers of any sort. I'll be posting gameplay as soon as I get the chance.
Sounds interesting!
Shane Moore same
please let us know when you post it!
Still love this game.
imagine.. they announce ff xv versus and make the game they originally visioned
I could die happy if that was a thing. I feel so empty like my beloved square enix has cheated on me
They could just finish the PS3 version of Versus and I'll be happy, screw the people whining about the graphics, I'd rather have that and have the game be more cost-effective and bigger and better as a result.
Maybe when KH3 comes out Nomura and Squeenix will be willing to give Versus the shot it deserved, but for now, I don‘t see that happening.
Or at least they could make movie. I'm so interested in the story.
+cc ahaha Yes. Exactly what you said.
k4yser I hope not, no matter what it will never meet expectations because the myth of Versus is too strong at this point we have all hyped the game up to what it could have been based on concepts, that while indeed were amazing only had 20% of actual content finished. The best thing in my opinion is to just focus on making 16 a complete, whole reality and not divide resources on a revival of Versus
Ah Damn, I loved 15 but now I REALLY wanna play Versus XIII!
"Iris was best waifu" She's 15 years old :/
Okay ?
I mean, I liked XV but if they had to do this to the game they should have made a whole different game so the story of versus could have been used on XVI. Oh well, I will cry myself to sleep now.
I feel your pain.
ZeroHxC07 what story there was so little to ffv13 story because nomura didnt finish it.
Nomura was responsible for the base story, Kazushige Nojima finished fleshing out that story in the game script.
Petition time peasant? lol
Dakota Otero And an alternative happy ending please!
Yes, they should of looked at Witcher 3. That engine and game plan from day 1 was amazing.
Multiple endings and non linearity UNTILL the ending, thus all decisions affect a specific ending.
One for all sucks lol. There is no point to have effective narrative in XV then lol.
Nah best way to redeem this game is make original FF versus XIII story line along with KH combat system and let nomura finish his vision
would be the best!!!!!!
I feel like Cor character has a lot of potential for good material.
its time to stop whining about SJWs, if you don't have the balls to stand by your artistic vision... it's your fault.
Agreed
I blame both Square and the SJWs. Sure Square should have stuck to their guns, but the SJWs shouldn't have said anything in the first place. It's not their story and they weren't even going to buy the game either way.
NamelessBadassMOFO yup
NamelessBadassMOFO Not if it's a crappy vision where women barely exist and when they do its to surve male characters. no one needs that, they couldn've done better instead of just nothing.
DevilHunter1994 SJWs only have the power you give to them. The problem is that Square and other big companies trust their "diversity officers" more than their consumers.
So they were afraid social justice warriors would freak out that's why Luna is so boring now.....shame
She really needed that gritty backstory
Apparently they think the SJWS is the fans since most of them pretend to be fan and has complain about it.
oh wow, she got beat as a child and would have spent more time worrying about being useful to noct. totally would have saved her stale character lol nah stella and her role would have been much more interesting
Sláine McCool Eh I don't get this reaction. Most feminists would welcome a darker, grittier more complex Luna? Or even better, a Stella instead?
showing her getting beat as a child without it having any impact on how her character acts or the plot itself would have been a cheap way to 'fix' how luna has no qualities about her that makes her unforgettable. shes a cliche imo and throwing in a tragic past wouldnt save her from being as bland as bread
But of course, more of her would have been amazing.
the 10 years without Noctis could actually be a solid basis for FFXV-2
LASHINGS UK Yes! Have Iris, Cor, Talcott and Aranea as the core party members with the Brotherhood joining as guest members every so often?
Long story short, FFXV team needs to rectify
the gaping holes they left for XV, starting with planned DLC.
This is a main installment too so everyone's expectations were HIGH AF
And same goes for the expected Season Pass respectively...
Can they reclaim their own throne...
Man, this hurts. I really hope Nomura will still make FFVSXIII happen, after FFVII Remake is finished.
Noccaelum I don't think so. he handed everything over to Tabata to focus on KH 3 and work with the remake of VII
Maybe in 10 years 😂
Nope, he never hand over FF15 to Tabata.
Austin P THIS. I LOVE YOU.
I kinda agree with some of your statements but the "SJWs ruined everything'" well I don't agree with it. First of all SJWs are willing complained about anything even if they didn't play the game and even if Luna stand up against the abuser they would still complain about it. We don't how scene is going to play out.
TheBoreOfTheMorning
I mean "realistic" as in a portrayal that most women would be able to relate to. Guys aren't the only people playing these games. By the way, your reply sounds kinda triggered, I don't think I'm the one particularly warrioring here; you don't have to agree with me. I recommend that you pretend the person you talk to on the internet is right in front of you.
When we got more Luna in the trailers than we ever did in the actual game.
Cathlyn Dolera so true
Cathleen Dolrae so true but sad too
The original FFXV story supposed to not having any romance at all.
Ironic thing is, open world games like GTA or Witcher 3 has more cut scenes than FFXV

Nina Bradford Totally agree with this regarding those SJW's. It makes me wonder why they don't go after Rockstar with the GTA games.
So...Versus XIII sounds infinitely more interesting then FFXV...
Whatever - Ardyn was the best thing that ever happened to me. He made the game worth my time.
"3rd wave feminist" would be all over it though... sadly... just look above
SevereOutcast Fuck of SJW
TheBoreOfTheMorning wot?
They're so fucking mean for no reason aren't they?
versus already seems better I agree that it could've been better.
I actually enjoyed chapter 13 yeah it did get frustrating at times but it was fun for me.
Dominic Ramey I was getting annoyed with chapter 13 but then I realized Noctis himself must have been pissed off as well. So in a way we were kind of being put in Noctis' shoes. Being real annoyed, on edge, impatient etc. like him lol.
I remember being hyped for it back when I saw the secret trailer in kingdom hearts, of the person running up the side of a building or something
They should have made 3 disc lol dammit!!!!
Cordero Ebberhart If Sakaguchi-san (creator of FF) was still at Square-Enix he probably would have done something like that lol it's a shame really.
but if it's sakaguchi-san the game would never be an open world action rpg
it would've been a standard turn base game, i know it's what many of their old school fans want
but i enjoy action rpg more
Cordero Ebberhart They can make 3 disc, but bloody XIII destroy all hopes man.
(Within XV's story and the within the development team change from 2006 to 2016)
Why did Nomura leave? Did he ditch the project or get kicked off?
He had no choice. He got pulled off the project to work on KHIII and FFVIIR.
Still contradictory, which one is it? If he had two other projects
and prioritized THEM over XV/Versus13 then that means he ditched the project.
Sounds to me he chose to leave it behind which kinda annoys me
Nerø I wanna see the hostages
[NQZATR] I know what you mean... My friend and I were depressed when Stella was scrapped.
It deffinetly would be. maybe they'll save that theme for FFXVI
do you think that square might release a director's cut of 15?
Tierra Hogg one where they finish the whole game? would take a lot of resources and time
They'd also be getting tons of money for that, also love & higher ratings.
luna needs a background; scenes showing how she is as a person, and interactions with noctis as luna, not as an oracle/political instrument. thats how people connect with and understand characters. they could show 20 cutscenes of luna being beat up or shit but it still wouldnt make her any more better. instead of being “the girl who talked to gods” she’ll just become “the girl who was beat up and can talk to gods” still makes absolutely no fucking sense
Agree that the car customisation is a bit meh (I pre-ordered the limited collectors edition and I've used one skin from that for the Regalia..that's it!!)
Love your videos, thanks for your thoughts. I'm yet to tackle Pitioss but can't wait due to your comments about the lore (omg!!)
...and on we go!
I bet you were happy about that Ardyn DLC
*grabs all the coffee * alright 47 minutes it's time to get cosy
In the end, the complete FFXV we've been waiting for would need to have at least 2 Blu-ray discs of how big it is. The game was cut even so the disc is full of content. So full that there wasn't space enough to add the scenes from Kingsgkaive and omen trailer in the actual disc. I feel like ffxv was made for a ps5.
With a cartridge that has 100+ gigs or so, rather than a blu-ray.
Shoop400 thats beteer than a full on 200gb hard drive
"noctis killed the female protagonist, but didn't remember..." My reaction was WTF!? hahaha!!
Silent Hill 2, is that you?
"I know for a fact dark world Lestallum was finished...."
**flips a table**
A "gather the party" quest would be nice :(
The dark just FEELS like you should have been able to explore it, don't you think?
Shawn Zamir FFXV I desperately want Tabata to work on his own FF project and make it as gritty as he desires.
To get a game from Nomura, we need that someone should control him tight. Or we'll get again a game after 10 years..
Nomura needs to stick to one project at a time? That could only be true if he has control over the company but he's not. lol
That's true. Nomura doesn't call the shots, SE does. It's not his fault.
I like that SE does flesh it out a bit more in the end, but let's be honest here, it should have been in the game when it released;
So I'm torn, I like what is in FF15 at the moment so I enjoy playing it but on the other hand, waiting for a few more months to fully flesh it out wouldn't have killed me. like an early to mid 2017 would have been perfect probably.
So far 15 is bringing back that feeling (PC player, so I just started recently).
you know, my ideas for a multiplayer mode are like a monster hunter type of multiplayer in which you have to clear a dungeon before facing the boss, and every character would be like a class of some sort, like Ignis being the support which can only use daggers and lances or magic and give life buffs, prompto being the marksman being able to use every mechanic weapon snd giving speed or dodging buffs, gladio the tank with strenght buffs and noct having to use a mandatory sword (as it is the only exclusive weapon for him) and another weapon, every other character would fall into one of the four categories and the scoring system could be based on the hunter's rank in the game, you'll face different monsters and craft different weapons from them with elemental affinities n shit
i had some other ideas but i don't remeber them right now lol
The game did feel kind of simple and incomplete. We need a FF15-2.
The game's ending is quite definite. People die when they are killed. All of the villains are dead, main hero and his love interest are dead and the world is at peace. Sequel doesn't really fit in my opinion.
Tristafeyr
Parts of the story are missing for sure. And if there is a part 2 they can just make the gods bless both Noctis and Luna with life for saving the world, it's as easy as that.
Righteous1
But it would also be very cheap tactic and lessen Noctis' sacrifice at the end of the game.
(just wanted to make that clear for you)
Two videos by Dean Weiss has very helpful info of knowing more of Stella "Final Fantasy XV - Luna vs. Stella" and "Final Fantasy XV - Why Was Stella Replaced?"
I think FFXV gets too much hate than it should have (if you wanna make a better game then go for it.) not trying to criticize but I find this game 100% better than any FF games like 1-6, I love all ff games believe it, I just find everything better in FFXV.
Uncanny Broderz I agree , I wasn't overwhelmed by the final battle but I guess it's because most ff's have final bosses that are mega powerful
Also, after the Royal Arms off it should've been royal arm vs royal arm with a health for that weapon that couldn't be restored.
i'll score the game 8/10. i love everything about it. just very dissappointed how short the main story is. they cut a lot out
blamblam taylor Yeah. I tested it out with a new gameplay without doing any side missions and... damn that was short
i felt the same. i love FF and i love FFXV. have already played almost 200hours and am at 98% completion. the story did feel underwhelming and it did lack a lot of substance (dont get me wrong.. still cried at the end lol) but i was wishing that the story went a little more in-depth.
Gameplay and mechanics are amazing! there are a few tweaks that they can use but battles are almost perfect.
honestly, i feel like this is the greatest FF game ever and i love it but it needed more from the story.
Where is that dungeon around 29:00? I dont remember seeing it in the main game
The cut plot discussed in this video actually sounds way more interesting than what we got in the final product.
Chapter 13 did not annoy me and impacted me exactly like the devs wanted? :S
I'm certain I'm a minority in every aspect now...
I cried. Heart punches you multiple times
I legitimately fucking hate jumpscares and that chapter was so cool lmfao
Ya know I can’t wait till like 2037 when XV is considered old enough for them to remake it and go all out
It's already 2020, and I'm still hung up on what Versus XIII could have been.
Never even bothered to know what was going on in versus. Now I know, I want versus over 15.
The trailers had more cutscenes than the game 😂
I'd rather have that 40 hours of immersive story than an uninteresting open world story like gta
13:36 thats my fav artist long time ago. Forgot his name, from deviantart o.o I wonder if he still draw now
peas what is that scene from at 41:16 with regis talking?
They've done the work on the world, lore, characters and now just need to fill in the gaps.
Perfect opportunity to start a Final Fantasy book series?
All this has done is make me wish I was rich beyond measure so I could fund what this game could have been.
Vargles fucking oath
so in the end FFXV IS BLOODBORNE!
3 key points to add in XV:
1. Story Content
- add 20+hrs of content to 40-50hrs
2. Explorable Areas
- Some hidden areas in Lucis
- Crown City
- Other areas in Altissia
- Tenebrae
- Other parts of the land (maybe towns) during train sequences
3. Playable Characters
- Cor, Aranea, Iris, Luna, or even Ravus
The potential to be the best FF ever is there. If SE can make it happen, then i'll be the happiest mofo on the planet.
