Michael this was a monumental achievement given all that you had to go through to make it to Sunday. I’m so happy for you, and the success you’re finding through the cars you’re building and driving. It was also fantastic to see your family get the opportunity to witness your amazing finish! Congratulations brother, enjoy this; excited to see what’s next!

SOO EPIC! 💪 Way to represent the FL5 community. I've driven that legendary track so many times in Gran Turismo, and watching you handle it like a pro in our car! 🤌 Congrats Bro! 😊
congrats on the podium. ive been watching your build on both your supra and FL5 since I picked up my FL5 and my mods have been based on your build thanks for detailed documentation of your build. again congrats it was well deserved. I would love to hear the details of why the clutch went out in a short or in the next video.
An epic watch mate - really glad it came together (as much as it could). Noticed for podium sprint you started going to 2nd gear for the final corner and it seemed to help your drive out onto the straight as well! Awesome to see - get that record and looking forward to a break down on the cooling package and if it can be retrofitted to an FK8.
Well done Michael!! been following your journey since the fk8. I'm glad you finally went to do a TA event! I cannot wait what the future hold for the car!

Not Normal but since I wasn’t around for any of the practice rounds they didn’t have a reference point laptime to grid me by. So I was in the back fighting through traffic
Good shit man! Second year checking out gridlife at Laguna Seca and its been amazing! When you were saying about overheating, what temperatures does the car hit before getting any limp mode or issues?
It never hits limp mode but it will pull some power. I’d say when it’s 300F on the OEM temp reading for oil which isn’t accurate. The actual temp would be closer to 280F
@@in54ne82 most people will never see over 250F with this system. The more power you run the hotter it gets. Most people tune their cars to 360-400 whp. I’m at 470whp pushing the car to its limits and the cooling system is still performing well
I really feel for you man. I have been watching you for a long time. But, we have to be honest with ourselves, the Type R as track capable as it may be, is simply not meant to be a track car. Things are going to break constantly. I do want to say that I think you are a damn good driver and if you love tracking the type R so much, maybe its time for you to just suck it up and buy a TCR. The way those things are built it would be really hard for you to break anything on it.
My issues with the Type R have t been because things were breaking. It’s been because no one has modded the FL5 this far for track use so there were major growing pains. Yea the clutch blew but that wasn’t because Type R clutches are prone to breaking. I just put more power through it than the stock clutch can handle. The lack of rev match and inability to see speed is from the new gearset. No one has a plug in module for the FL5 to correct for that yet because no one has put Graf gears in an FL5 yet. Dozens of other examples just like that. And at the end of the day, anyone can go buy a race car. The point is to mod a street car and push it to its limits because that’s what most of us own are street cars AND I can still put my baby seats in the car and take it grocery shopping
I just went through this myself, just before a event in Australia called honda nationals. Problems kept arising with me getting there that were out of my control. Anyhow, long story short, I made it.. then i crashed the car. That was God telling me don't go but i didn't listen, however I am alive and thats the main thing, also, for how hard the crash was , the damage is actually pretty minimal! Again, thank god for that.
You were talking about mechanical items on the car and idk if I missed it but did you break in the clutch? If not it surely is now... Congrats. Just turn in later into the corkscrew and track out all the way out of turn 10 and "you'll run nines..."
@@wilsonyang2209 yup. Fried the rich two days before the event because we couldn’t tune boost by gear like normal because the ecu could see what gear I was in
Hey bro, my little bro and I saw you this weekend at Gridlife! Love the car! What would your recommend for a track car the mk5 Supra or the newer civic type r? Currently in the market but not sure which to purchase
Really depends. If it’s your only car then Type R hands down. If you are going to spend $10k+ in the right mods, then Supra. If you’re going to mod but less than $10k then Type R. The Type R is a better track car out of the box. You have to spend about $10k on the Supra to get a solid track car
