I remember reading that the PWR rad and PWR intercooler was the perfect pair to stop overheating since tube and fin style intercoolers allow more air to reach the radiator.
Thanks for sharing your journey brother,!!! Congrats on the PB, and glad you can see more time to be shaved. I can imagine a PWR radiator combined with that secondary radiator or if there is a small PWR radiator that can be fitted upfront that would be sick. Several years back my buddy was helping build the 25hrs. of Thunderhill Porsche with Flying Lizards guys, and they had 3 PWR radiators up front.
While developing the 2nd radiator kit, here are a few things we have tried and it sort of helped. Maybe it could be helpful to other FK2/FK8/FL5 users (besides installing the 2nd radiator) - vented hood - undertray removal - set both fans to high speed via hondata - a suitable racing coolant (beware if it freezes in your area) - single or dual oil cooler setup - a big grille to allow more air in (or upgrade to the 2020 model grille) - and if needed, off the AC but set tomax temp to use it to remove some coolant heat
Im using the custom secondary radiator that Jason pioneered. Combined with the 2020+ grille, a koyo, and Varis hood, I can lap the car for entire 20 minute sessions without worry in hot weather. Hottest ive been in with it is in the low 90s. It is a game changer for the FK8.
Those PB laps were smooth AF. Like watching a pro driver. I have the HEL oil cooler ready to install I think I'm going to pair it up with a 25 row Setrab Series 9 in series... That should do the trick. Hopefully oil pressure drop isn't too bad.
I been there before. Leguna Seca is an odd track. I had a difficult time to warm up my tires and felt so slippery. I dont have a CTR so i can't state any temps issue i had out there. But i do have to point out that i had to drive like a 70 year old citizen for the first 3 laps just to get my tires warm lol Best of luck on your future track events. Keep up the content. love your channel🙂 this is 2nd video I have seen of these fl5 on track that are going fast like you are flying but it seems the front ends scrub quite a bit. I think there is time to be had just getting rid of the front scrub or loosening up the rear🤔 After watching type r over heating struggles I don't think I can do it lol😅 My track b series civic doesn't even have a radiator fan lol and will go all day long 😄
Did you already delete the A/C condenser? That thing shield a ton of air going through the radiator which sits behind. Also I would try to remove the rain guard underneath the hood vent. At least for the track day. Thats easy removed and put back on after.
My suggestion is to focus on airflow. Swap to a tube/fin intercooler if you can, remove the rain shield under the hood, and potentially just remove the hood vent plastic altogether.
I believe coolant goes through the exhaust manifold to cool the exhaust gases. However it shouldn't go through the exhaust manifold. If you could find a way to reroute that coolant the overheating issues would go away. Is that possible?

Great car for cold weather track days, totally unsuitable for track days in warmer regions, no good for like 6-7 months of the year over here.
your prl intercooler and hel oil cooler is blocking air into the radiator, it’s pretty obvious. On top of that you should be running e85 to drop the temps on such a big turbo. Lack of air flow is the obvious reason in combination higher turbo temps.
For sure is not ideal to block airflow but because of the lack of space it becomes an exercise in choosing the lesser of two evils. I already have flex fuel installed. Still no software support from Hondata
