I made my first whistle based on this video using my small metal lathe as a wood turning lathe! I used a junk piece of scrap pine just so I could try it without messing up a nice piece of wood. But it worked and I learned how with your video and some hands-on experience! Thanks for the tutorial. Now I need to get myself a nice piece of hardwood to make the real one!
Ive been making whistles this exact way for years. Id love to see a video of how to make a whistle in key with a full scale of notes. great video take care.
Ernie, Thanks for your clear instructions. I have made several from this and my grand kids love them. Not sure how you turn the reed off-center with a flat as you mentioned but have had success sanding a flat on on it.

Thank you for this instructive vidéo. Nice Whistler, nice work. Darragh
Enjoyed your video!
very nice job
If you add more tone holes (and more length?), do you get more notes, or do you just ruin the whistle?
What you get , is a crude bamboo flute.
Love your video! Thanks

I also didn't really understand that bit
You have a bolt coming out on back of your lathe bearing housing.
Not sure how important this is, but the article reads that the hole should be 2 7/8 but the illustration says 2 3/8. Will that make a difference?
Thanks Ernie..
how do you know where to put the sound hole please?
Obrigado!
Great.
