    The CXM sounds really great for sure. It was really cool seeing it used as a studio effect rather than just a guitar pedal.

    Sounds extremely usefull for a hands on mixer like myself. Better than the plug in no doubt.

    I just ordered one from you! It was supposed to arrive yesterday and I was super excited but FedEx sucks. You guys are cool tho and I Can’t wait to finally get the pedal. I can’t believe how good it sounds on every instrument. This is one of the best pedals ever made and probably the best reverb pedal ever made imho.

      the person who does the guitar-related demos for VK pretty frequently plays math rock riffs in their demonstrations

      And it's less expensive than getting an actual UAD system...

    Great demo, I got mine a couple weeks ago. That Moog controller seems like a great idea.

      You can literally using anything that sends an LFO out. Another synth, even your DAW can most likely do it. Thanks for watching!

    The depth and realism. Beating the UAD 224.

    Shit on it, I have the cxm and love it, but didn't really expect it to sound THAT much better than uad (which I have never used myself).

    Way richer sounding than the UAD, which I think is a great plugin nonetheless.

      224 is not about richness, it was pretty lo-fi and still is, if it's richer then it's not 224

    A lot more detailed than UAD.. Really liked the tails on drums, the UAD seemed a bit thin by comparison

    Great review, thanks. One question though: I heard the CXM1978 tends to distord / clip easily with hot signals (synths, bass etc). Have you noticed such issue during your tests? Any concern to have while plugging direct after a synth? thanks !

      Whoever said that probably didn't set it to line level input. Works perfect for synths

    The synth. Smokes UAD

    Why doesn't this have XLR inputs and outputs for the studio?

    • @vintagekingproaudio
      @vintagekingproaudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There is a line level mode on the pedal where you can use TRS cables. Since I was using the Meris 440 mic pres with the effects loop, I didn't have to utilize this mode but it does come equipped for line level.

    I like both. The various 224 plugins out there and the CXM deliver excellent sonic flavoring either way; just different.
    In my experience, when in "HIFI" mode, the CXM 1978 would probably be better compared head-to-head against a Lexicon 224XL or 480L, not so much the original 224.
    Though in "STANDARD" and "LOFI" modes, the comparisons to the 224X and original 224, respectively, are certainly appropriate, albeit, the CXM's "LOFI" mode can go much more... well... Lo Fi (grainy, warbly) than the 224 hardware. Haha.
    I like every Lexicon Reverberator Box w/ Controller/LARC combo that they released, and the CXM does an admirable, if not amazing, job at giving one the ability to dial in Lexicon 224-to-480L type sounds, textures and beyond... reliably... with ease... in a small, beautiful package. And the ability to save your settings as Presets and recall them later, is so welcomed.
    I'd love to see a plugin that interfaced with the CXM hardware at some point; that'd be pretty neat!
    Lastly, in my opinion, the CXM is going to be a modern classic, and soon enough it's going to catch on outside of the "pedal world" and gain more traction in the studio realm.
    Then at some point, Chase Bliss/Meris will probably stop making it, and when/if that happens, I think the prices are actually going to go _up_ ...making the current prices seem "cheap" by comparison. I could easily see it going a similar route of the SONY C-800G.
    Then again, maybe that won't happen at all. Either way, it's a special piece of creative equipment, in my book. :)

    yep absolutely sounds better than the UAD. The grain is just better; smoother while still having that discrete kinda sound which gives it that fizzy sparkly flavor. I wonder about the room sound comparison - the UAD just sounded too dark; a settings / EQ issue?

  • @SAGABIJO2
    @SAGABIJO2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    This pedal destroys the UAD in all parameters on every source.

  • @RyanSommer

    the 224 plugin sounds really great, but in direct comparison it sucks . The CXM sounds much more open, vivid , better.

    Like the pedal...but a huge turn-off being ridiculously overpriced at $899... It shouldn't be more than $299 for this pedal...
