Holy shit I've been trying to do a clean install on my friends Dell Inspiron and nothing was working! Turns out I needed to delete all those partitions. You're a fucking life saver.
1) install windows xp 2) upgrade to windows vista 3) upgrade to 7 4) upgrade to 8 5) upgrade to 10 6) in between each upgrade, install a bunch of programs and malware 7) clone your drive 6 different times 8) shut down by holding the power button or unplugging the PC 9) congrats, it is now dirty
Or you could go and get an official in this case Dell windows 10 install disk or something along those lines, and you will get all the bloatware that comes with it.

If you want to clean install on a laptop (specifically an Acer gaming laptop) would I have to uninstall windows from it and then do this or would booting it from a USB uninstall the previous installation of windows? After the entire clean install is finished, what do the partitions look like in Disk Management (right-click Flag, select Disk Management)? Thanks for the tutorial, even though I don't need it now. But I know when this will be useful. I did screwed up my laptop, although it was getting slower and had a lot of junk installed. I did a full Windows reinstallation with wiping every data on the disk. So I have learned to not disable the certain service. Which it barred me from administration access. Also the anti malware was taking too much resources.
I found out what the problem was. Not sure if it's only dell, but the drivers for the pcie ssd are missing and if all you're doing is a clean install via the windows media creation tool then it's not enough. The ssd is invisible atm, so you need to go to their support site and download the irst for the ssd and copy and paste the windows10 x64 file (or whatever your operating system is) to the usb. Then boot up like you did in the video, and when you're at the part where it says "no loadable driver found" you navigate to the irst file and voila, all the partitions show up. All you have to do now and delete all the partitions as you did in your video until there is only one left and just follow the onscreen steps. :D

What did Microsoft do to this disc? I have used these in Dell's since xp np issues. The disc loads but doesn't give install options. I used restore option to erase and reinstall to recycle pc it ran all night this morning it said no bootable drives found what is going on? Hi, when I bought my dell laptop I cloned its hard drive to an SSD. Everything works week but it's been a few years and some better and faster SSD's have came out and I want to upgrade again. Someone had told me they I can do a clean install of Windows 10, and use the same product key of windows that I already use. They mentioned that windows will automatically recognize my computer and activate the product key. In addition I do not have the key and like some older computers/laptops it did not come with a sticker saying what my key was. Can you help? Thanks subbed🙂
You install Windows in usb with Rufus and then plug the USB and tap f12 key (or esc) for boot menu and you select USB and install Windows on second partition

I am 99% sure windows 10 will install all your drivers, if not you can always get them from the dell website. Not sure about the tablet thing, windows 10 has a "tablet mode" feature, maybe that does what you want?

Hey Enderman, Just with regards to the step where you delete all the drivers and are left purely with your 120gb SSD, is there a reason for this step? Can we just select the known drive instead? i.e. I have 2x2TB HDDs and 1x120gig SSD in which I would like to reinstall windows. I just don't want my other drivers to be completely wiped. While I understand the process of what you're doing, I just dont quite understand WHAT you're doing. (FYI - I will be doing a clean install due to thread stuck driver issues, so I want to keep as much as possible). Thank you.
If you have multiple drives, you need to unplug all of them except the one you are installing on, otherwise you could have issues. Since I installed on my laptop and it only had one drive, I didn't have to unplug anything. I should have mentioned this in the video, I guess I forgot.

Well first of all, when deleting the partitions you don't want to accidentally delete one on the other drives that you want to keep :P Second, windows sometimes messes up and puts system partitions on different drives. This causes issues in future windows updates, and also makes it so that if you remove one of those data drives your PC will not be able to boot. The only way to prevent this from happening is to remove everything except one drive when installing, so everything is forced to go to that one drive.

There are sometimes options in the BIOS for USB legacy mode, USB boot, or stuff like that. If changing those options doesn't work, you may need to try a different USB port or USB drive, or finally a DVD drive and use a disk. You can make a windows install disk the same way you made the USB drive.
I think microsoft office programs are part of Windows OS, am I wrong? I am concerned with this because I have another laptop running on Windows 10 provided by my employer for me and it was like the base installation of the OS, i.e only microsoft offices and some other microsoft softwares are in there. Yet the Ms Office programs are not yet in its full functionality, it always asks me to input the activation code to use it in full version. I wonder if the clean install retains the Ms Office but still requires activation code, which I don't know.

Windows recreates the necessary partitions (which is usually 3 or 4) but the "dell recovery" crap is gone forever :)

I would wait at least a few hours, if you restart it then the install process will probably get corrupted.

Yup! Just uncheck "quick format" and make sure the options are set to default when you go to format it in file explorer.

Clean installing windows 10 will install microsoft office, you have to do that separately.
