We do our patented Box Test in the 2017 Honda Ridgeline and Yuri's stupid 2007 Honda Element.
So I would actually call it a win for the Element for being able to fit 18 boxes comfortably, and you wouldn't have to worry about them getting stolen or blowing off the back. For me, I probably would only put 6 in the truck bed with a tonneau cover over them to keep them from blowing off on the highway, as well as the 2 in the in-bed trunk. Having the room for 6 inside the cabin is pretty impressive though.

I once found myself having to park overnight in a seedy downtown area with two 9' kayaks on the roof of my Element. On a hunch, I tried putting the kayaks inside with the seats all folded down (you can fully recline front seats too). They fit, with one end resting on the dashboard!
My 05 has 215k on it and still rolling. Best camping car I've owned for sure.
I've moved about 8 times in the last 4 years for college or work. My element handled it all. I've moved a full size fridge with it. I have 100k on my '08, so I still have a few more years with my element left hopefully. Loved this video!

325 stacked red bricks in my 2008 Element. Back seats removed. Fifteen miles one way. Took it slow but it did just fine. Still going strong with just over 150,000 miles on it.
I love my Element. I had an '05 AWD manual that got T-boned a few weeks ago. I was SO upset, as Elements are hard to find now. I replaced it with an '03 FWD manual. I miss the AWD every time I drive it. Especially now in the winter. I'm a flooring installer and I use it for work. I can fit all my tools in the back of that thing. It's such a handy vehicle. The Honda dealership I bought if from said anytime they get a FWD automatic in stock, it's sold to a florist that uses them for delivery. Becoming harder and harder to find, these days. Great vehicles.
phunkdoctaspock bummer about getting Tboned. I have had my E for several years and it is an automatic w AWD. I think that must be rare as I've been reading so many reviews ect stating that E's w AWD are usually only featured in Manuals.
My transmission went out a few months ago after my brother decided to change the spark plugs, broke one opened the cover to take it out then the car was dead. while in my gated back yard someone jumped over my fence and hacked off the catalytic converter. how lucky am I. if you know where I can get the parts I need to fix my 2003 please leave a comment. I bought it used and I only got a year out of it and didn't get a chance to go camping which was the reason I bought it to begin with. I don't wanna give up on fixing it just yet. thanks:)

I'm in the process of shopping for a 2007 AWD Honda Element right now.... The Ridgeline is really appealing but for someone constantly trying to find parking on the street in a New York City, there's no way I'd pick it over the Element. also the Element is heaps cheaper.

...had a 1989 Honda CRX Si, bought a 2002 Honda S2000. You can't do anything in an S2000 but move ass. Bought a 2003 Honda Element (more problems than any Honda I've had... not a lot, but more than enough). Practically, the CRX was my favorite car (I moved a sofa in it, great gas mileage). It probably is still the favorite all around car I've owned (it was my second Honda, I did have a '78 Civic (CVCC?).
You cannot believe the amount of s$#t, I've carted in my Element, I like the new Ridgeline, but til my Element dies, no go. My Element has about 170k miles on it, the s2000 which I've had 22 months longer has less than 65K miles. Both are in good mechanical condition. ...I keep my cars 'til (almost) the wheels fall off. Honda fanboy, no... Honda fanman (almost geriatric), yes!

I bring an 8 foot Christmas tree home inside my Element every year. A 9 foot tree hangs out the back window a bit. But, you can still do it with the split tailgate.

Had three people and three bikes in and on my ‘05 Element, parked just off Embarcadero on a Sunday morning and rode the GG to Mt Tamalpias. Got back hungry and saw a burrito shop up the street, what to do with $15.000 worth of road bikes while we ate. Folded the second back seat slid the fronts all the way forward and got all the bikes inside. After food we were getting back and a guy stopped and asked if we were leaving could he take our spot. Took 20 minutes of working fast to unload the bikes, put the right rear seat back down, load the bikes and split. My favorite Element story (got more than a few) using the car as a bike locker in high theft S F and yes the guy waited 20 minutes for the spot. Ridgeline is a pretender.
I have both, my element and ridgeline are great trucks amazing space and the loudness of the element is an exceptional experience. I miss my element and pilot, by the way.
Honda, we need the element back, this time with a V6 and or turbo version with at leasy 200 hp...

I love my Element. I easily fit 3 large mountain bikes upright in the back.

I love the element. It was never officially imported into Holland. So it is a rare breed overhere. Love it. Would have been an awesome replacement for my HR-V. Now driving Peugeot Hybrid4, still miss my fun car. Element would have been more fun. And you can camp in that thing. Awesome. Great choice

Amusing, but anyone with any sort of open bed car will keep some ropes or cables of some sort to tie down their stuff. As to whether or not people will steal shit, dunno.
My family will grab my Subaru Baja on occasion to move all sorts of furniture, mostly beds and cabinets that would otherwise not fit in their SUVs and such easily. Since the bed is usually loaded with stuff you'd unload at your destination anyways I don't know what you'd leave outside the cabin or trunk to even be stolen when parked outside besides bags of fertilizer and crap that only a madman would try to steal I suppose.
