Very cool styling and performance! I recently purchased a 2023 Kia Stinger GT2 with the Special Edition packaging and am already thinking that this might be my next car. I just don't think I'm ready for an all-electric vehicle quite yet. Also, this looks so much cooler than the Tesla's, and for a much better value. Well done, Kia! Well done, indeed!

I do believe Kia recommends a 90 percent charge for everyday use versus 80 percent max charge for most competitors which means the range is actually closer than we imagine and remember the fast charging of the ev six means it’s easy to recharge in 10 minutes if you are at 30 percent and then recharging.
That’s almost like a gas station for ice vehicles

  • @tomy8339

An awesome vehicle but the range is a bit of a deal breaker. 206 miles of range with a brand new battery charged to full. That quickly reduces with:
    1. Battery degradation
    2. Less than full charge
    3. Low temperatures
    4. Vigorous driving
    5. Long standby drain
    6. Use of heater and AC.
I think this is strictly an EV for low distance, local driving only. It will be like using a smartphone constantly. You'll be recharging very frequently.
    I'll keep my GT Stinger.

Think twice dont get scammed china already canceled EVs
"suburban neighborhoods worldwide could be plugging in daily to recharge. Most electrical distribution networks are simply not ready to provide the additional load - especially during peak evening hours when many EV owners are likely to first plug in to recharge their cars.
Currently, drivers in the United States log some three trillion miles annually in their automobiles. While currently less than two percent of the vehicles are electric, what happens when that number increases? One study estimated that if all the cars in Texas today were EVs, the state might need as much as 30 percent more power; California would need 50 percent more. Nationwide, we calculate that the conversion of all internal combustion engines to electric vehicles could add as much as 45 percent to electricity demand.
Admittedly, the US Energy Information Administration estimates seven out of 10 cars will still have internal combustion engines by 2050. Even so, the grid will no doubt feel increasing pressures if sales of electric vehicles accelerate as predicted."

This car is a BLAST to drive! So much fun and good looks too. I don't know why KIA keeps calling this an SUV, because it's not. To me it's a wagon. The narrator calls it a large hot hatch, which I can also agree with. The same goes with the Ionic 5. These cars are an excellent way into the EV class, however a bit expensive if you want the full powered models. The sticker for the EV6 GT is $65k USD.

    A couple things.
Seats- unless you have multiple people driving this car, power seats are not something you use on a regular basis. Really- set them up and go.
The cars stereo is actually 14 speakers, but most state the same, not very good.
    Adaptive suspension- awesome.
The downsides stated aren’t enough to keep me away- I put my dp down in June for a hopeful Q1 arrival in Canada. Perfect timing given the summer only tires.

Great review, as usual. One thing: The forward-looking camera shots (which I think are important) are terrible. We can't get a driver's or passenger's view of the road, just part of the headliner and the rearview mirror. I wish you could find a better mounting place than the sunroof ... like maybe the windshield? Or hang the camera from a selfie stick or something.

  • @jimji2774
    @jimji2774 ปีที่แล้ว +1

OK so I got to test drive one of these and was surprised how well I liked most everything about it. I expected the ride to be harsh but I found it very comfortable and even in GT mode was not a problem. It rode so much better than Tesla and even more so the Polestar 2 with its adaptive suspension. What was almost as surprising is the power even in GT mode did not feel unwieldy but rather quite manageable. Not too much but just right to be good fast car. A lot of EV's leave something to be desired at higher speeds but not this one. I even parked the thing back in the lot in GT mode just to see how it did - no problem.
Now the only thing I would have to work on are the seats. I found the extra side bolstering to be a little annoying and I am skinny, and as this reviewer suggested the seat could have less of an angle for everyday driving. This is something that can be addressed after purchase by auto specialists so it won't stop me from getting one of these. What a surprisingly great driving vehicle whatever you want to call it. Yes I know the range.

Great car but 206 miles of estimated range 🤦‍♂️. If you lease then whatever, but, if you buy it and take proper care of the battery and charge it to 80% and keep it from dipping below 20% it leaves 120-130 miles of range. If it gets cold out and you turn on heat it will be more like 90-100 miles even if it has the heat pump. If u like acceleration gingerly it will be more like 70-90 miles. I also wonder if you also know that in the 1st year you will lose about 10% of the total range after which it will level out, leaving you with an even poorer range. Talk about rushed into production. How does driving it aggressively reduce the range? Instead of 206 miles will you only get half that if you hoon it around on the street or do you still get close to that with the regen helping?

@cyberathlete I've read MachE reviews, they actually got more like 270. I can't rely on chargers outside my home, I've seen how they work. Either they don't work at all or don't charge at full speed. In general I understand that most have less range than advertised, but if this EV6 does closer to 150, it's a disaster. Can't even get to any track with that range lol, just circle around the town

EV are meant to replace ICE cars. It is counter intuitive in my mind to have a performance EV vehicle which is already quick without GT. Performance EV cars should not receive full credit. 200 miles. Wow. Not meant for northern states and countries with 50% capacity reduced.

Someone has done a review where they drive the GT-line over a set course at a set speed, and then drove the GT exactly the same, and guess what? The battery remaining for both cars was pretty identical. No point in the 'industry standard' figures when they don't assume everyone's driving the same....

Yes, it certainly does have wireless Apple Play or Android Auto, Mine does it just fine. Furthermore, you also understand that the reason it has manual seats is well, because it's the GT model and anything else electric simply robs from the batteries, right? You do understand how that works, right? Ijm actually surprised that KIA put in a sun roof and power windows/locks

"Car will be very very slow in Eco mode with 286 hp " Ha that is already as much as my Hyudai Santa Cruz has and it does not feel that slow. 429 hp would be plenty for me in standard mode so you would not have to push that little boost button except for doing an occasional trick.I wasn't clear what the range would be without using this GT mode ? Also I am not sure any EV will qualify for the $7500 tax break in 2023 as it is split between where the car is manufactured and where the battery materials come from. I am betting the Mustang for example will only qualify for $3750. NIce fun review thanks.

Cool car but the seats are going to be a deal breaker for my wife and I. This isn't going to be bought as a track car so the 8-way with memory hopefully will be an option next year. I suspect the Ionic 5 N will be optioned with the power memory seats so that may be the way to go. Great review.

Can you confirm if the GT does have HDA2 (Highway driving assist) vs the GT-Line/Wind. That was also another difference that I saw on the charts on KIA's website that this one is more hands on driving on the highway vs the others that are totally hands free. Thank you!

Guess it makes up for it in power/speed & quick charging.
