I was born in 61 and loved this show when it first came out in syndication when I was a little kid. It was my dream world! I couldn't wait to come home from school and watch it. As with so many other kids, I fantasized about flying through space in my own Jupiter 2! It's wonderful that such care and detail went into the restoration of the original Gemini 12. I hope that someday it ends up in the Air and Space Museum so that thousands of people can marvel at its design and so that it's preserved for generations to come. I greatly appreciate the owner and restoration specialist putting so much loving care into bringing it back to its original glorious form! Blast off!
I ran across this video and couldn't believe it. I can only say, thank all of you for bringing back a piece of my childhood. It hurt to see what she looked like after all that time in storage, but she is once again beautiful. I remember when I would rush home from school just to get my homework done and watch the show.
Beautiful spaceship...This show was so amazing in it's first year....TV was fun back then...You guys are a treasure to restore this piece of history. Thank you.
I loved Lost in Space for the first season as serious sci fi with potential, but I lost interest in favor of Star Trek. Too bad they turned LIS into a cartoon with Smith screaming all the time and goofy monsters popping in and out.
When seeing the ship that evoked the future I thought I would be living in I, almost cried. This was not just a television show for my generation but a goal to be strived for.
You techs are masters. Masters of patience, modeling, dedication to the Space craft. I can't speak for Irwin Allen, however, you have no idea how glad we fans are for your work. Thank you.
The Gemini 12/Jupiter 2 ship got me interested in science and engineering when I was a kid. This is an almost sacred piece of history to me. THANK YOU for all your work!
Thanks for sharing this. I was a long time fan remembering the show when it was originally on television. My mother would never allow me to watch it because she thought it would give me night mares. When the show was syndicated in the early 70’s, my wish to see it finally came true. I always wanted to be Will Robinson, and live his t.v. adventures. In the mid 1980’s, I was shocked when I learned by chance, my employer was actually Bill Mumy’s brother In law. I was working in a high end restaurant in the Detroit area at the time, and Bill was going to be visiting while in town. I was flustered meeting him, but recovered and found him to be very friendly, and after our first meeting, would ask for me to wait on him whenever he was in town. I told him what a fan of the show I was, and since I didn’t have cable then, hadn’t seen the show in many years. He asked what my favorite episodes were, and to my surprise, a few weeks later, sent a VHS tape he dubbed himself with the pilot, my favorite episode, and his favorite episode. He included an autographed picture. Needless to say I was shocked and very pleased he took the time to be so kind. I still have the tape which has the label with his handwriting telling the name of each episode. He and I had contact several more times until I left the restaurant in the mid 90’s. I’ll always think how strange it was that I once knew my childhood hero.
I absolutely have to thank these gentlemen, are a few others like them, who have either restored, or remanufactured a significant part of so many of a number of fans, ( like myself ) Preserving much of our youth's tv history ! I see there is yet another "hero" recreating the Jupiter 2's Chariot ! And a great job of it at that ! Thank you to all of you !
Thank you for your blood, sweat, and tears into my first childhood scifi love I shared with my Father. We faithfully watched Lost in Space, Voyage to the bottom of the Sea, and Star Trek. I'm now 61yrs. young, and a Woman Marine veteran. Hmmm,I wonder if my love of Sci-fi influenced my carrier choice...? Semper Fi !
Wow! I'm reliving my childhood as a local TV station in Canada, CHCH Hamilton Ontario, is rebroadcasting the series. And now I see this wonderful restoration professionally presented and editted. Wonderful achievement all the way around. Thank you very much, gentlemen!
Mine too, I was a kid in the seventies and watched it in reruns. I'm now 54 and a couple of years ago I came home from a bar at like 3AM and to my great surprise Lost In Space was on the tv. I was buzzed and overjoyed, all my childhood memories came flooding back. I started watching and I lasted maybe 10 minutes and it was the worst thing I've ever seen. Bad acting, bad plot, bad special effects, just bad. My memory was that of childhood, and while the original Star Trek holds up, LIS does not. How do you let your kid go anywhere alone with a child molester like Dr. Smith, that guy was not to be trusted lol. I tried, I really did, but damn they actually aired that crap to the entire nation. Remember the talking carrots episode? It's a comedy now.
I watched it as a wee lad during the original run. Lost count of the number of Frisbees I drew windows on with a magic marker & re-eneacted the classic crash scene, making my own version of the J2 sound as it went down.
I want to thank you for sharing this video. I am a large fan of all the Irwin Allen's shows. Growing up I would have loved to own The Jupiter 2, the Seaview, the Robot and of course Star Treks (TOS) U.S.S. Enterprise. This is true for today. Guess I'm a big kid.. LOL. It was wonderful to see this piece of history restored!! A fantastic job!! It was good to see the fusion core spinning the way it was designed to. Nothing today can replicate the exact way the lights seems to chase themselves. Not even LED's with the fancy electronics to make them spin can duplicate its effect. I would like to shake your hand. If you have a Seaview or Jupiter 2 laying around that you want to get rid of...... LOL. And as I said about a month ago below, Live Long and Prosper!
Lost In Space left such an impression on me and I know 10's of Thousands of other kids back in the 60's. So much was happening back then...the Space Program with all the latest technology...computers were being born that would lead eventually to these marvelous devices we have now called "Smart Phones"...Lasers...Our International Space Station...Electric Cars...soon to be Fusion Reactors...the list grows endless. Irwin Allen planted seeds of the future in so many of us. Restoring the Gemini 12 may seem like a silly endeavor to a lot of people but to a select few it represents a window into the future that drew some of us like moths to a flame. Thanks for taking the time and the care to not just restore it but to give it a new and fresh life so that just maybe ... Some other wide eyed child might DARE to dream and help move us closer to that future that people like Irwin Allen and Gene Roddenberry, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov and all the other Sci-Fi visionaries have painted for our imaginations. We can never stop dreaming...if we do...that can only spell..."Danger Will Robinson, DANGER!"...Namaste
As I have dabbled in models most of my life, I appreciate seeing a talent that I don't have being used. Thank you for a complete and thorough walk through this restoration.
I enjoyed this video very much. It brought back memories of when I was 12 years back in 1966 , when Lost In Space was being shown on television. Thanks for sharing.
WOW!!!!!!! THANK YOU.....SO MUCH for restoring perhaps, the most iconic thing from my childhood! Man...I will never forget how neat Lost In Space was and is too me!
Thank you for this fantastic documentary on the GEMINI 12. Clearly... a lot of Time and Dedication went into the restoration. I am so pleased it did not end up in the corner of some storage facility Lost In Space... and Time. Thank you Mr. Allen for your Creativity and Imagination in Creating this Unforgettable Adventure.
This video is worthy of archive status and should be kept along side the Gemini 12 while on display at the Smithsonian or similar. Thank you for documenting the restoration of a part of my childhood!
Oh I am so angry that I missed this video when it was first posted! Thank you...thank you for restoring the "Gemini 12"... Thank you for posting the video and showing the various "crash landing" clips. Thank you for all the background information. Wonderful, truly wonderful! I watched LIS when it first aired in Australia back in '66 on Melbourne tv station ATV 0. I was only six years old and I was glued to our old Aussie-made monochrome Astor 21" console tv. The show became a very important part of my life, being that I was a "latch key kid" (meaning both my parents were at work in the afternoons after school so I had to let myself into the house and organise myself before they arrived home after 6pm). The Robinson family became like my own...the music seared into my soul. LIS had the best music of any tv show of the period, blessed as Irwin was, with the talents of "Johnny" Williams, Richard LaSalle, Herman Stein and all the other Fox regulars who worked for Lionel Newman's Fox Music Department. Of course the ensemble cast who were just brilliant in their roles also endeared me to the show. I hear there's a remake coming. I hope they don't ruin the show by using horrible synthesiser crap music, hip language and smart-alecky kid actors.
Fantastic that the Gemini 12 was saved, and that such an exacting restoration was completed. It was such a great series, and iconic image. As a 10yo I never forgot the wonder of the entry of the Jupiter 2 into "The Derelict"; I believe I have never seen better SFX.
Great work. I've worked with fiberglass on Corvettes on and off for 45 years and old fiberglass can be tricky. Back then, "anyone could do it" and it often showed. Excellent work you did on this project.
Oh Boy Did We Love This Show . Best Flying Saucers Ever ! The Gemini 12 And The Jupiter 2. And Life Like Classic Space Robot. This Was One Of My Favorite Programs Of My Childhood. And Campy Space Monsters. With Epic Soundtrack . And Amazing Jet Pack That Prof.John Robinson Used. And A Cool Land Rover The Chariot . The Space Shuttle Was A Easy Way To Get Around. It Was Good Campy Fun. Thanx!
Thank you ever so much, growing up in the time of Star Trek, Lost in Space and Space 1999 it brings back wonderful memories with my grandparents and parents.
BRAVO! Thank you to all who partook in this restoration! A magnificent job well done! Thank you for preserving this genuine one of a kind piece of television history. I for one thought it had been long lost.
I have been a scale modeller for many years and consider my dedication, patience and attention to fine detail to be quite high. But this video showing the restoration of Gemini 12 blew me away. I thought I had modelling skills until I saw this. I am but a novice. I salute you..
Hope you find more project like this, whether sci fi or not, it's great to see these influential props from tv history, and learn so much more about them and the shows from your research. THANK YOU !
Amazing work!! And such selfless dedication! I’m as old as the show, so I saw it in reruns in the early 70s. I’m sure the show influenced me & played a part in my becoming a Submarine Nuclear Plant Operator. I hope the model does indeed earn a prominent display venue so us fans can enjoy it, amongst other period SciFi set pieces!!
Thanks for bringing Lost in Space science fiction effects story back to life. Nobody in the 1960's suggested to market a toy version model of the Gemini 12 or the Jupiter 2. It would have made millions in sales. (Even today, a remote control drone version would be a hit)..
Okay Juan, after another and closer look, I see you have "edited" your comment to update your "idea" so as to address my response to your actual original comment so as to now include your saying: "drone". You should have simply responded to my ...response! ---In specifically answering that NEW question: ...unless YOU would be happy with four or more likely SIX perimeter mounted (and well out there a ways) external vertical lift "propellers" to make this into a fly-able drone, along with the hull molded in bumpy/ugly and thin styrofoam, you ain't gonna "make it fly". And even then, due to the hull interfering with much of that externally generated lift, it would fly very poorly. So who do you think would buy that?
Kudos to all involved for preserving this important prop! I’m a sucker for a good prop mystery, from finding them to restoring them. I have to say I’m really impressed with this restoration, respecting the original prop and its intentions. Too many folks restore props to beyond what they were. It’s easy to want to have a bright and shiny object to show off, especially when you may have paid a lot for it! It takes real integrity and a respect of history to preserve a prop to its original state no matter what.
Really interesting. Being a Lost and Space fan and watching the TV show in the 60's as a kid, really makes me appreciate the art and talent of the special effects dept. It was truly fascinating to see the restoration of this beloved model. Thank you!
It gladens my heart to know there are others out there who honor the wonderful sci-fi epics I watched as a kid. I used to have fantasies of owning these models and was always disappointed when some were produced but were so shoddily conceived and made in such a haphazard way. Thanks so much for your time and talent in saving an important part of American imagination and dreams of traveling in outer space! :)
God bless both of you, Andre and Paul! What would happen to such treasures without people like you with the talent, dedication, and appreciation of this special part of history? Thank you so very much.
THANKS PAUL LUBLINER FOR RESTORING THIS WONDERFUL PIECE OF MOVIE HISTORICAL PROP! I love Lost In Space! The ship...the Robot....and the zany.Dr. Smith! And thank you Andre for stepping forward on the people's behalf to ensure our generation gets to experience this CLASSIC/ICONIC piece!...WOW!...and a handshake for the rest of the people involved! If you people never came forward to help!....in the words of Dr. Smith...."Oh the Pain!...the Pain!" "Thumbs up you guys!" :-)
This is just incredible! Amazing work put into this and the restoration was done the right way. Thank you all so much for bringing this iconic ship back to life and documenting and sharing this!
Wow! What a labor of love!! Thank you for restoring our beautiful ship to its original Beauty and giving us our memories of a time when life was filled with excitement and love of our beloved series.”LOST IN SPACE”.
man I remember watching this program when it was brand new,the first season with a much more evil Dr Smith it use to creep me out especially the episode I think it's called the derelict and its an old huge ship out in space just setting there and I think that it has a tracktor beam and of course the ship our heroes are in gets sucked into the derelict ship, anyway when you are in around the third grade and never seen anything like that before,it'll freak you out!!!!!My hats off to you guys, done an excellent job of restoring the ship xxxxWe must preserve our t.v.history!!!!!!
I saw Lost in Space on its original run and recently bought the Bluray discs. I'm a big fan of this ship and I'm happy to know it has been fully restored and is in the hands of someone who understands its significance. Bravo!
I'm happy to see good people work so hard to restore/preserve our culture and the objects that fired up the imaginations of the kids of the '60's. My brother & I would watch these shows with fascination and then go and play outside (or inside) with models we'd built whether it was the Seaview, or USS Enterprise or whatever. It seems to me kids today dont exercise their imaginations like we did. My grandpa made toy cars from bailing wire, we had plastic model spaceships... and now everybody has a tablet or lap top?! Not quite the same. Having the actual piece from those shows is very important as well. As a student of history, for me, touching a thing, an object that was "there" makes it that much more real and personal. I shook the hand of Miep Gies once, who hid Anne Frank & her family. Great honor for me, but it brought me so much closer to the story, the history. Exploring a castle, touching stones that have been used to build it some 800 years ago or more. And it's the same with our cultural icons. I guess all I'm trying to say is, thank you guys, for saving this piece of history, and iconography from our not-too-distant past. Who knows how many young minds those shows, and those ships inspired over the years?! Perhaps now, they may yet live on in for generations to come. Well done!
@@paullubliner6221 Hi Paul, as a matter of fact, I also have a couple of those. One is clear glass, the other is red. I got 'em just before junior high school which, I think was about 1969 or '70. They've been part of my life about 50 years. I'm a trucker, even worked for Amtrak the summer of '88 (car attendant) when I moved from Southern California to Utah. If only these old treasures could talk and tell us their histories... Meantime, a few of us collect, touch and remember the past they represent.
I was born in 61 and loved this show when it first came out in syndication when I was a little kid. It was my dream world! I couldn't wait to come home from school and watch it. As with so many other kids, I fantasized about flying through space in my own Jupiter 2!

Outstanding job! So glad there are folks like you restoring these props for future generations to see! Thank you
Amazing work!!
I am extremely happy to see this preserved.
What a fabulous documentary!!! So pleased to see the Jupiter 12 was in such safe hands!!

Gemini 12
Love love love it! Great job, Paul! Thanks for sharing!
Well done Paul. Incredible restoration on this iconic ship
Thank you.
Wow! Simply amazing, especially with the Enterprise project in progress. I'm glad to see the respect being paid to these old classics.
Very fun to watch this. Thanks for bringing me back. Very exciting when these kinds of props and memories get restored so well.
Thanks, David, for your gracious and kind comments!
I agree and add my thanks!
God bless both of you, Andre and Paul! What would happen to such treasures without people like you with the talent, dedication, and appreciation of this special part of history? Thank you so very much.
Dave, Thank you so much! That is so nice of you to say!
Great vid,, I watched Lost in Space in the 60s as a kid in England,,magic times ,,,
Thank you, wonderful job in restoring the ship. It does bring back a lot of memories as a kid.

Seth...thank you for the kind words. They're extra special since we have passed 300,000 views.
You're very welcome Seth!
1960's TV history indeed. Good that you rescued it. Very fine documentary on the topic.
While spaceships from other sci-fi tv shows & movies were awesome, the Jupiter 2 has always had a special place in my heart.
More than "a few" people agree with you.
This is just incredible! Amazing work put into this and the restoration was done the right way. Thank you all so much for bringing this iconic ship back to life and documenting and sharing this!
I love the sound of the Gemini/Jupiter whenever it was taking off or landing.
So do I! It's the same sounds the Time Tunnel makes.
Wow! What a labor of love!! Thank you for restoring our beautiful ship to its original Beauty and giving us our memories of a time when life was filled with excitement and love of our beloved series.”LOST IN SPACE”.
Lost in space along with Star trek and Outer limits fueled my imagination, I so Agree wholeheartedly Irwin Allen was a true genius no doubt about it !
Amazing restoration Paul! Finally, a Lost In Space prop gets the Star Trek restoration treatment!
So awesome. I watched the show every chance I had as a kid. I didn't know many of these facts. Thank you.
You are very welcome!
A true craftsman. A dying breed.
Great restoration. "Oh, the pain, the pain."
Very talented gentlemen.....you not only restored this beautiful prop, but you brought back childhood memories.......fantastic work ....
I sincerely thank you for your kind words.
man I remember watching this program when it was brand new,the first season with a much more evil Dr Smith it use to creep me out especially the episode I think it's called the derelict and its an old huge ship out in space just setting there and I think that it has a tracktor beam and of course the ship our heroes are in gets sucked into the derelict ship, anyway when you are in around the third grade and never seen anything like that before,it'll freak you out!!!!!My hats off to you guys, done an excellent job of restoring the ship xxxxWe must preserve our t.v.history!!!!!!
That was a good one.
Well done!
Thank you. Personally, I collect 100+ year old railroad lamps and signals for that tactile connection as you've described with the past.

Hi Paul, as a matter of fact, I also have a couple of those.
Awesome! Glad to know that the Gemini 12 has been restored above and beyond it's original glory.
Fantastic restoration!
Thank you.
How wonderful! Well done and thanks for keeping our childhood memories alive.
Thanks, Edward!
Great video. So happy you made this. I love seeing history restored.
Thank you... a space ship miniature sure, but "history"? I wonder how many before viewing this even knew there were two differing ships?!
Time Traveling from January 2024 - Very nicely produced video and a superb restoration. Congratulations!
Fantastic job! I watched the entirety of Lost In Space a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Easily one of my favorite space ships.
Agreed.
My favorite small starship since 1965! The first season of L.I.S. was thrilling! Excellent use of technology. Still holds up today.
