    This is a brilliant homemade project. Sure we can sit back and criticize why this is too long or why this controller is too large, but this machine is way cool. I don't have the skill set to reproduce characters from my favorite sci-fi television show. How many of you criticizing could do this or even conceive of it?

    As a kid, I was fascinated by one tiny detail on B9: the winch-points on his shoulders!
    Those two silly little bits of metal had me dreaming of the day they'd attach cables and lower him into a cave...
    Alas, nothing is every attached to those little straps.

    At 5:12 the robot says "Who turned out the lights?" twice. That sounds like a line from an episode of the current series of Doctor Who. Shorten the bubble extender so that at if the actuator travels its full distance you won't damage anything. I would also think it would be easier to put the arms in place before putting on the head.

    I was 10 yrs old when Lost In Space aired for the first time. Irwin Allen created some great shows. Robot (B9) was way more believable tech than Robby the robot.
    The bubble extension issue can be fixed using a micro switch to kill the up power.

    For the arms, it seems like an easier method for installation would have been some type of twist and lock method. A metal ring in the arm hole, with keyed notches, that match a plate on the arms. Fit each arm into place, and then turn them 90 degrees to lock them into place.

    its funny how they use the new the new version of the themes opening music these days and rarely use the original one from the first 2 season .
    The funny part is that for the entire life spand of the show they allways described Jonathan Harris as a guess star instead of one of the main characters like he actually was . In fact most people liked the show mainly because of him and Billy Mumy and the robot named Robot . Many of us kids at the time played lost in space in our backyard and we would have someone playing the role of the robot using cardboard boxes and later when technology came up with automatic washers and dryers we used those white plastic spring like pipes for the exit of the dryer to use as robot arms and we ran arround the yard yelling ''Danger Danger Danger '' and other the role of Dr Smith. We had so much fun playing that when we were kids .
    I still remember when we played this late at night and that when time came to go to bed my mom would come out and yell bedtime and that we continued to yell ''Danger Danger Danger '' hoping she would let us play more . But naturally those were the end of the 60's and start of the 70's mOms did not fool arround and my mom allways said if you dont come in soon you will be in ''Danger Danger Danger '' My mom was good at being Ironic even if she ment it as a joke . These times were what made childhood and family of the 60's and 70's so special .
    When i see how todays kids lose that connection so soon with their parents before they become teens today it kind of makes me sad cause its not becasue you become a teenager that you need to seperate the good opportunities to make good memories with them cause those times will never come back . .
    How many kids today have fond memories good or bad about their teen years with their parents that now seem funny instead of drastic ?
    Shows like these are what reminds you of who you were and how happy familys were back then . Its with these shows that we became who we are today and how optomistic and joyfull we stayed all of our lives . I stil remeber how lovely i found Judy Robinson which is normal since she was only 20 years old which i was surprise to hear recently casue i allways thought she was much older than that like in Pennys case which was only 13 in real life but looked more like 18 with her big boobs and her silouette. never expected Maureen Robison to actually be 41 casue she didn't look old at all , I was more counting on 30 at the most but then again it wouldn,t have match with the age of Judy would it

    The extender is plastic electrical conduit, if it extends too far just cut it off to the length that wont push the head off.....duh.

    • @zanyzapper6904
      @zanyzapper6904 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That actually wouldn't help. The problem isn't the length of the extender, it's the distance of travel. Cut the conduit and in the retracted position it wouldn't be tall enough for the head to be in the right position when retracted. Basically it's the correct length when retracted, but it moves too far. The correct solution is to add limit switches so when it reaches the max allowable height it cuts power. Or a bit more brute-force, some kind of stop block so it can't move past a certain point tho that's a bit iffy, especially if you get some kid or dingus who just keeps holding the button once it hits the limit, you're just asking to break something or burn something out.

  • @InformantNet
    @InformantNet ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's a wonder, but, yes, why is the bubble extender too long? You shouldn't be able to accidentally destroy the head. That's a serious design flaw.

      Apparently constructive criticism is beyond you comprehension , building flaws into anything is called poor design , look it up.

    Electric motors are WAY too noisy. Try again.

    I think the fact that it doesn't have a limit switch on the brain height and him saying if you extend it too far it will break is frankly ridiculous. The way it slams back down and jerks to one side making the brain section jerk with it is a terrible design. Also, him forgetting that it should be assembled with the power off, or even that there is a risk if assembled with the power on is really quite reckless and dangerous. Why not insulate all the wiring so that there is no risk? A CD player in 2017? Really? Good grief there are far better options available for sound and voice. The motors are way too noisy.. I imagine this robot costs thousands of dollars and these small details really are unacceptable. I've seen much better implementations of all this technology by amateur builders shown in other TH-cam videos

      I agree, there seem to be some design quality lapses here.
