I had this toy. I got it for Christmas probably in 1962 when I was 5 years old. It mysteriously disappeared from my toy box after 11/22/63.
I am a Tampa native born and raised here. I am so proud of my history of Tampa. To bad the politicians forget who started this.
I thought his name was “Mr. Goodygood”!

I was mugged on the subway in 1980. A NY Transit Police sergeant told me the best way to avoid getting mugged on the subway is to always travel with a 9-iron and talk to yourself. No one will go near you. True story.
If every human being would have the kindness of Jesse Owens in our hearts, this world would be a planet without war and hate ❤

Where to get material to make one? Get the forms/parts /motor(s) for the rotating light(s), dimensions/SAE measurements,# of small windows etc.
The first is any well stocked fiberglass supply outlet. The second part is a really good question as you can't "get" any of what you asked about. Why? Because NOTHING is "available" (as in "store bought" or online at Amazine or whatever.) What you are asking about, those items such as the "forms" the "parts for the rotating lights" etc. Realize I had to made all of that from absolutely nothing ---as in "from scratch", including all the designing/engineering. ---As for the ship's hull and window dimensions, all of that is copyrighted and Proprietary information. Lastly, "SAE": that stands for the "Society of Automotive Engineers" so I have no idea what you're talking about..
@@paullubliner6221 Standard measurements, not metric. Forms/ patterns to get the shape correct. How many windows in hull portion...
@@dman0044 You mean "Imperial Measure" or "English". as in: "inches and feet". There is no such thing as "standard" as you are using the expression.. 1 millimeter = .03937". As for: "Forms/ patterns to get the shape correct. How many windows in hull portion..." I've already given you the answers you requested: "PROPRIETARY", means the plans, shape and dimensions are OWNED as in legally copyrighted by Synthesis Entertainment, Legend Pictures and Prometheus Entertainment. Go and ask them. -----Besides, how would you generate the shape and then transfer it into fiberglass? THAT'S neither easy nor for beginners. You should just go out and buy yourself a plastic model kit of the Jupiter 2. In my view if you had the ability to scratch-build a 48" diameter Gemini 12, you'd not have asked the simple and basic questions you have asked. Best of luck.
@@paullubliner6221 The large model used from the first crash is 4' wide,14" high. How many inches from bottom of hull to top of lower level (point where upper portion ends..below windshield/bottom of door). The measures of the one you made? Distance between door and windshield.
@@dman0044 FORTY EIGHT inches in diameter yes, ...but your other quoted dimension is very much off. IF you'd buy a plastic model kit the Jupiter 2 and then with a tiny bit of arithmetic, you could scale it up to the size you choose, you'd have a big model as you seem to want. -----I strongly suggest that you watch the opening few minutes of: " SPECIAL EDITION Relaunching the Gemini 12" right here on You Tube. There, for the very first time EVER, you will see a side by side comparison of the original Gemini 12 miniature placed right next to the original Jupiter 2 miniature.
He was from muscle shoals Alabama and I hope he told Hitler roll tide....
All this stuff should be in a museum the planet of the apes ship and doom weapon.
My parents got a kick when I was 10 or so when I grew frustrated drawing my own schematics of the ship, exclaiming its impossible for all their quarters, gear and machinery to fit.
Interior shots are usually done on a sound stage. In one episode where Will(Bill Mumy) goes down to the lowest level, it looked like 10'-12' high.(Even on the full size ship,it was barely 2'). All the interiors of the Brady bunch house were at Paramount studio 5(?),used for two or 3 other shows( they changed interior look, the stair case was in the same place).
Same here! Same age. I had a big Sketch drawing pad and used various kitchen pot lids to draw the circle, then tried to draw in all the different rooms. I became a CAD drafter as an adult.
This is amazing, i lived in Tampa in 1957 - 1972. I remember all of these people I saw on T.V. Mary Ellen, Shock Armstrong, Roy Leap. I grew up with these people on t.v. I left Florida in 1972 because of the draft. It's so nice to see that these people are recognized. They live in my heart. Just love this.
Wonderful. This brought back so many memories of happy childhood viewing. Loved to see the process of tireless expert craftmanship on this super restoration, a real credit equally to the original designer, builders and restorers. Marvellous. Thanks so much for sharing.
amazing work
Very cool.... thank you !!
You are welcome.
When I was a kid and still to this day when I watch the very first crash of the Jupiter, it just seems very, very eerie… the view from inside the ship looking out seeing the mountainous rocks and boulders, and the same watching from outside, made it very worrisome and had me gripping my chair. And then the sound from behind the rocks of the actual crash 😮
THAT SPIRE does indeed add an eerie aspect of the scene doesn't it?
Fantastic production
Thank you.
It took me seven years to find this video. It was just shared on a Facebook group. Better late than never. Great video!
Thank you very much!

Thanks for bringing Lost in Space science fiction effects story back to life. Nobody in the 1960's suggested to market a toy version model of the Gemini 12 or the Jupiter 2. It would have made millions in sales. (Even today, a remote control drone version would be a hit)..
Okay Juan, after another and closer look, I see you have "edited" your comment to update your "idea" so as to address my response to your actual original comment so as to now include your saying: "drone". You should have simply responded to my ...response! ---In specifically answering that NEW question: ...unless YOU would be happy with four or more likely SIX perimeter mounted (and well out there a ways) external vertical lift "propellers" to make this into a fly-able drone, along with the hull molded in bumpy/ugly and thin styrofoam, you ain't gonna "make it fly". And even then, due to the hull interfering with much of that externally generated lift, it would fly very poorly. So who do you think would buy that?
Fantastic video! Your efforts were incredible.. I applaud your tenacity in restoration. You have a unique gift. Look forward to viewing your other videos.
Thanks, I think you'll enjoy those as well.
Huge fan of the series too. I’m 67, born in 1956, so I was about 10 when watching “Lost in Space”. Two questions: does anyone know what the cost of this restoration was and does anyone know what this prop is worth(I know the “worth” part is very subjective and dependent to who is bidding on it).
Yes I most certainly do since I personally did this restoration! I therefore know exactly what it cost: It was VERY EXPEN$IVE!" ---And why exactly does that or its final and fully restored value matter to you? As in why would/do you feel that is any of your business? TH-cam is a kinda-sorta public venue and therefore your questions make clear "tact" is not one of your strong points. ----Do you just happen have enough "lose change" to outright buy the carbon-fiber/epoxy, operational exact duplicate practical effects miniature we used at Red Rock Canyon seen in: "RELAUNCHING THE GEMINI 12" and also in this week's multiple uploads of a LOT of "bonus footage" taken of that shoot?
@@paullubliner6221 honestly, just curious and no hidden agenda. The video was excellent. You did an incredible job both on the video and the restoration.
@elson7908 I SEE YOU'VE OUTRIGHT IGNORED --an actual offer, so I'd say your real motives here are strictly related to your ego, as you're obviously attempting to manipulate me, and nothing else. Sorry, but you're Out Of Luck in that regard, friend. ----As the sales representatives for Rolls Royce used to plainly state: "IF you must ask, you cannot afford it!" You should understand that it was (and really still is) considered "Gauche" to ask with such bespoke matters. ALSO, DO See: "Relaunching the Gemini 12" here on TH-cam.
Well I might be a bit socially awkward at parties that’s just me ! But could I afford it? I think yes since I own a 2020 Lamborghini Huracan which I paid cash for along with a 01 lighting 12k miles and a 07 GT500 @ 770rwhp to name a few of my cars I collect. The point isn’t if I’m gauche or if I can afford it. All I was asking was how much the dam thing would sell for and how much was the restoration cost. I WAS CURIOUS, no more. If you or anyone else are uncomfortable in telling me or guessing than just say so. I can live with that and we’re cool. But when you know nothing about me and throw barbs and innuendos my way than I begin to realize I’m dealing with someone who might be a bit insecure with who they are. That being you. Next time be more considerate to your fellow you tube enthusiasts and I still say it was a great documentary and you did a great job. That I can’t and won’t take away from you.
@@dond7908 I know almost nothing about you except the plainly obvious! SO, for my sake and no doubt innumerable others on You Tube ----GET A LIFE and stop TROLLING!
I know a lot about the show but never knew that the ship in the Pilot episode was not the Jupiter 2. I do remember noticing two versions of the ship. Than you for the explanation and for the very needed restoration.
Thank you for the kind words and for being one of the people who actually watched the video before asking why the ship was not the Jupiter 2.
I believe this Andre Daunt sold it in 2019 for $180,000.
Andre still owns the Gemini 12. The ship auctioned in 2018 was one of the 4' Jupiter 2 miniatures.
The "Jupiter 2" is a physically different ship/design from the earlier Gemini12. If you claim this miniature is the "Jupiter 2" you are incorrect and do need to actually watch this video to learn about the many basic differences.
No your incorrect the Robot told me so. He called you a word I cannot use on u tube. It's the Uranus 2 like your anal brain
Really who cares only couch 🛋 potatoes 🥔 just enjoy the show. We don't care what you think. You ate irrelevant!!!! Period

Very enjoyable, brought back a lot of good memories of watching Lost in Space as a teenager in the 60s. Thank you for sharing.
You are most welcome!
Really enjoyed this. It always puzzled me how the sleeping quarters fitted in down stairs. These models were fantastic when I was a kid and still are.
There were no sleeping quarters on the Gemini 12. They were frozen in tubes, remember?
They had to sleep though. Thanks for the reply
@@sunnyclimes4884 Suspended animation when in those freezing tubes so sorry but, nope ---no sleeping.
Yes. As much as i loved the show.. The J2 would've needed to be 2-3 times bigger To accommodate all the "extras" liKE the Gally, Sleep Cabins, B9 Dock Station, Space Pod, Space Suits, Chariot, Tools, Weapons, Hydroponics, Weather Stations, Power Core/ Engine room. Etc ❤
I’m jealous I don’t have something this cool
THAT could be corrected!

So cool. One of my favorite old shows. But... just FYI... Gemini capsules never docked in space. Gemini 8, with Neil Armstrong commanding and David Scott, conducted the 1st space docking, but it was to an agena rocket (btw... it almost killed the astronauts). Thanks again for the video!
We fixed that error in the sequel called "Relaunching the Gemini 12."

How about the forbidden space ship?
How about it?
It was like the Tardis. Bigger on the inside.
Actually this was to scale with the sets.
WELL DONE SIR!!!!
As a child of the 1960s (9 years old when Lost in Spaced debuted) I can't give enough praise to you for the restoration and to the owner's commitment to have it done and have it done right. So many of these irreplaceable props have undergone crude or misguided restoration! Your sympathetic and skilled restoration is breathtaking- it was like being transported back to my childhood.
I very much appreciate your using the word "sympathetic" along with "restoration" as that pair are my own chosen descriptive!
Yes it's about respecting not only the original form and purpose but also the original materials and methods.
Exactly, that is the definition of "To restore"
wow, I watched this series as a kid, enjoyed it much. I very much enjoyed your telling of the story and related facts. And your passion for the restoration is inspiring and a delight to hear. I find it inspiring that there are people like you that that have a care and talent to do what you love, in a nice way. thanks.
Thank you as well!
Irwin Allen was such a cheapskate that if he made the lettuce monster for Lost in Space, next week it would show up in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
YOUR COMMENT has absolutely NOTHING to do with the content of this video! So why even bother mentioning that? EVERYONE is quite well aware if they watched those shows all those years long ago. AND he was absolutely no different from every other producer in Hollywood as far as "cheapness" is concerned!
@@paullubliner6221 my comments mirror what Angela Cartwright/ Penny Robinson said during a tv interview. She said that as the show went on the campier it got. Allen didn't want to invest any more it the show than he had to and it showed she went on to say.
@@laff000 ONCE AGAIN: Your initial comment has no bearing regarding his video! ---As for; "Mirror"? NO. "Parrot!" is more accurate ---as is what I have said in response. He was a very typical producer a far as the handling of money is concerned.. Think; "RODDENBERRY". HE was "too cheap" to pay the $200 to light with the violet neon tubes, the original Star Ship ENTERPRISE'S inside "warp nacelles" as specified by the ship's designer, (Walter) Matt Jefferies, or even allocate $10 for the digital bridge clock, etc.

From the pilot "The Robinsons, Earth's first family of outer space, head to colonize Alpha Centauri in their flying saucer, the Gemini 12, but crash land on an uncharted planet where they deal with its challenges and dangers."
@@TrevorSachko PRECISELY CORRECT!
Even as a youth, I never heard it called the Gemini 12. It was always known as Jupiter 2.
Please read the video description and listen to what Paul says in the opening moment of the video.
That's because to this day, you haven't seen the never-aired pilot for the series.
