    This was fun to watch. When I was very young my mom wouldn’t let me watch “Lost in Space”. But I watched when it was on after school in the 70’s. I wanted to be Will Robinson so much and have all his adventures. Little did I know that when I was in my early 20’s, that our paths would cross, and I would actually be on a first name basis with him. I worked for his brother in law, and he would visit from time to time, always saying hello and being a nice guy. He asked me once if I still watched the show. I had to admit I didn’t have cable at the time, so I hadn’t seen the show in years. He asked what my favorite episode was. “Visit to a Hostile Planet” was always the one I looked forward to because of how the Jupiter 2 looked full size in a parking lot. One day I came home from work and a package was waiting for me from California. I opened it and it was a VHS tape Bill had dubbed for me with my favorite episode, his favorite episode, and the pilot. He also included an autographed 8x10 for me. I’ll always remember how kind he was. He didn’t have to be so generous, but all these years later, he’s still my hero. Oh, I did like “Space 1999” as well.

      It is true. I knew Bill for a few years. I worked for his brother in law for about 8 years. Bill, or his wife would visit from California perhaps once a year. He was always very friendly. One year he was in town for an appearance. He asked if I was free that Sunday. He said he was staying at the Ritz Carleton, and invited me to come to the hotel, have lunch with him, and go with him in a limousine to the show. He said I could hang out while he signed autographs and see the different vendors. Unfortunately I had to work, and I couldn’t get out of it. Another funny thing was after he and his wife had their children, my bosses mother spent time in California with them. When she came back, she said “John, I know you’re the only one who will appreciate this”. She was at their house alone and the phone rang. She answered it, and it was June Lockhart calling for Bill. It was nice to learn he still kept in touch with everyone from LIS. He told me he spoke to Jonathan Harris at least once a month. I still have the VHS tape, and the photo.

    If the Jupiter 2 had managed to land peacefully. It would have been incredible for all involved. The Tech on the Jupiter is far more advanced that the Alpha Tech. For one the Jupiter could roll out a portable shield generator that covered an entire planet. That would solve a lot of Alpha's problems. The Jupiter also had very long range and could range well ahead of the Moon's path as a scout. She had a form of replicator onboard as well. Of course the Robot is next level tech to anything the Alphans have. Of course letting Dr. Smith lose among the Alphans is going to be so much delicious fun.

      This reminds me of an actual production company version of crossover episodes that were done to the old Space Ghost series (produced by Hanna-Barbera), where the characters of that show met up with characters of its other superhero series that were on the air at that time. Something I've never seen done again.

      @@richardvinsen2385 - Guess you have a point. Marvel superheroes come to mind but these two shows are so individuated and disparate that envisioning a collab between them just wouldn't occur to most. That's what jogged memories of Space Ghost when he and his junior assistants met Shazzan the genie, Moby Dick (yes, the whale), The Herculoids, and Mightor (a stone age superhero). All these characters had their own shows and it was the kewlest thing to see them all helping Space Ghost out of tough situations. Again, something that was pleasantly unexpected. (Ah! What fun Saturday mornings were back in the '60s. You young'uns don't know what you missed. 😃)

But it really showed in only a few minutes how Space Ghost could be updated for a modern audience, yet lose nothing in the translation.

    This was very well done, and your editing was excellent! More importantly, it was fun to watch, and brought back a lot of memories!
    That said, I don't think that John Robinson and Commander Koenig would have allowed this 'misunderstanding' to have occurred. I suspect that the Robinsons would have known about the Eagles and Moonbase Alpha, and the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha would have known about the Jupiter 2, which only launched two years earlier. I have to wonder why they didn't even make an attempt to establish contact.
    And I see that circuit-breakers still have yet to be invented . . . .

      If anything this is cross universes anyway. In LIS the moon never blew up. In Space 1999 they never perfected the propulsion of the Jupiter 2. That opening shot is them crossing the barriers between the two. Kinda like having the J2 come through the jump gate on B5. Now that would be fun.

    • @modelermark172
      @modelermark172 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I take your point. And again, this was fun to watch, so I can forgive Professor Robinson and Commander Koenig for making the split-second decisions that they made.
      That said, I once read a story on Fanfiction dot net titled, "Found in Space," that managed to convincingly interweave both fandoms in a plausible way to the extent that Don West trained with, and was an old friend of, Alan Carter.
      The Jupiter 2 coming through a B5 jump gate would be a fun idea! My personal wish-scenario would be having the Robinsons meet the First Doctor and his granddaughter Susan Foreman. Maybe even have the TARDIS materialize aboard the Jupiter 2, and have The Doctor comment that the Robinson's ship appears to be bigger on the inside than it is on the outside . . . ?

    The Lost In Space incidental music works well with Space: 1999. The Jupiter 2 could easily out run an Eagle, and is just maneuverable, but I love both ships! But did you have to beat up Alpha so badly?!

    Congratulations, this is terrific. Decent continuity and great merging of two dramatic scenes. I was thinking this incident was going to cause the "Breakaway" of The Moon a la the pilot ep. of Space:1999. Both of these programs were classic Sci-Fi series and great to see both of them in the one sequence.

    • @carykillingbeck2874
      @carykillingbeck2874 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, according to the original series premier, the Jupiter 2 would've launched almost two years earlier (Oct. 17, 1997). Whereas Moonbase Alpha (and the rest of Luna) were blown out of Earth orbit (circa Sept. 14, 1999).

    • @carykillingbeck2874
      @carykillingbeck2874 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, if Chronos the Time Merchant wasn't just plain lying to John and Will Robinson in Season 3, it could be that the "uncharted asteroid" that J-2 might otherwise have fatally collided with (should Smith not have stowed away as in the original time line) might actually have been Luna, itself!

    Post apocalypse:

    This totally gave me goosebumps to watch. All this destruction could easily have been avoided if only the J2 and Alpha Moonbase had just radioed each other. I mean, both series were set in 1999 and they would've had the same technology.

    • @lelandhetrick205
      @lelandhetrick205 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well noted! If the British characters on Moon base Alpha could have spoken a common language via radio to the American family and crew of the Jupiter 2, all this excitement and damage could have been avoided. Instead, we suspend reality and watch this bull running through a china shop. What a mess for the janitor to clean up.

    • @joncouncil4454
      @joncouncil4454 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RobertWilke Not to mention we need context here. The Aliens purposely set the situation up from a tactical POV that COULD have been threatening, but not NECESSARILY so. They started out with 3 craft in formation, heading to Alpha, practicing radio silence as they did not respond to Alpha's attempts to hail them.
      In this situation, knowing Koenig, one lone ship just emerging from a wormhole would not have been immediately interpreted that way. Even if it were, in reality Jupiter 2 would last a long against a sortie of 3 Eagles as those same Eagles would last against Colonial Vipers, Cylon Raiders, Imperial Tie-Fighters or Rebel Alliance X/Y wings....
