Video helped a lot. This was my second one in the last 3 years. Highly recommend over Duramax and metal sheds.
    Only two suggestions:
    1. When installing roof pannels have somone push from the outside edge 45 degrees upwards before screwing in so top ridge pieces fit more tightly
    2. Use an electric screw driver and do not overtighten the large screws that hold the plastic panels together
    3. Install a cheap solar light (where solar is seperate from the light) for the interior. It is fairly dark even in broad daylight.
    4. Use a metal/concrete drill bit (9/16) to pre-drill the "self-tapping" screws for the metal snow support brackets near the end of the build
    5. Helps being handy and can be done with 2 people in 6-8 hours.

    A few points:
    (1) Great looking product!
    (2) Tremendous value for the price - we paid $1599 CDN at Costco Canada.
    (3) Didn't even mind the approx $600 cost of building the foundation (of course pricing depends upon your local lumber prices).
    (4) The install video (here) was super helpful.
    (5) A DIY NIGHTMARE - I'm about a 7/10 on the handiness scale and this was brutal. We were going to buy the companion piece but now we won't.
    (6) I used bad language by the end.

Hey guys, when you put the steel frame on the walls (step 9) don't try to slide the roof on it. You can screw it up in the frame and then put the frame on the walls, then screw the corners in the window and lateral wall. I promise guys this will save you so much time and frustration. Lol

Great Video! Dont let all the complainers and negative Nancys on here steer anyone away on putting this up together, After putting out all the parts and setting up a table and my tools, I put this up by myself in 3 hours taking my sweet time. I encountered the issue with the corner folding panels as well but you just have to get some sense be creative, I placed a piece of block underneath the flooring part where the panel pops and snaps into and pulled down with my body weight and popped right in. Everything else was a piece of cake.

A tip for anyone installing this shed: It may be better to screw in the 4 skylight pieces by hand since the plastic pegs can very easily become destroyed when using an impact. Best to use a very low torque tool or just use a screw driver. For a better seal, apply cauking around the skylight lip.

Great video it helped a ton. I do have questions though. Step 9.12 you put the gable over the front door but for me that whole section is super wobbly. Am i supposed to be forcing that gable edges into the channel of the gutter channel or is the only thing that secures that the brace you put in in step 11.5? It just seems all loosy goosey. In the video it seems secure but doesn't mention how that's done.

Finished Building this shed this past weekend.
    Things to note:
Give yourself a full weekend or two days. End to end it took us 9 hours or so.
You will need Beer and lots of it lol..
You need two people for sure if not three. One on reserve for the end, and with strong shoulders. I’ve got weak shoulders lol
You’ll need music to drown out the noise or to just dance your worries away.
    On a more serious note:
DEFINITELY USE THE VIDEO AND THE INSTRUCTIONS. MAKES A 100% DIFFERENCE WHEN TRYING TO DECIPHER CERTAIN INSTRUCTIONS.
Build the sections in the beginning as they say in the video and then start to assemble.
The tape they use is plenty for all the windows, so you’ll have left over. I’m thinking it’s for the skylights in case they leak. Be gentle when screwing those in, they are brittle.
You’ll have TONS of left over screws which had me double/triple checking and I got a bit paranoid that I’d missed something.
You will need all the tools they recommend and then some. I used a regular drill mostly, but you will need an impact drill for the end when you’re doing the self-drilling screws.
You will need a short bit extender and a long one.
    Otherwise, it’s pretty straightforward.
    Good Luck 😆🤣

  • @brandonwallingford7976
    @brandonwallingford7976 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Having just built this shed to 99% completion, including snow reinforcement kit add-on, I can say that it is relatively straightforward to build but complex and therefore time consuming. It is a minimum full day assembly and at least another ½ day to prepare the wooden foundation.
Small mistakes early on can lead to lots backtracking if you're not careful, and many of the diagrams have to be read very very carefully or may not include visual aids to assembly opting instead for detailed written instuctions which may hamper the less literate.
If i had to choose between assembling this shed or builidng one from lumber, I would opt for the more durable option of building a more solid building for $2500-3000 myself.

Here's my mini-review: The 10' x 8' Lifetime brand Outdoor Storage Shed is attractive but it doesn't go together by simply slipping pieces into slots and then inserting screws as you might expect. For example, to insert the corner pieces into the floor you have to use brute strength to bend the plastic to snap it in (after raising the floor on a block), and similarly considerable strength is needed to flex the plastic when joining the sides of the wall sections together, and some other parts like assembling the door latch mechanisms.
The instruction manual was not placed in a plastic bag, so when the boxes were opened after being stored outside, rain had soaked it. After drying it in an oven some of the pages were illegible after peeling them apart. Fortunately, the instructions are also online so I printed the missing pages from those (although for the identical model the online instructions were not entirely the same as the printed ones, and were missing one section.)
The instructions are good and well illustrated, but a little puzzling at first because only some of the pieces are labelled with the instruction code name, making them a little harder to pair up with the corresponding instruction than need be.
The pictures of the various types of screws (e.g. "AZW") are lifesize, making it easier to identify them even though their bag is not labelled e.g. AZW.
The instructions include an unusual wedge method to bend the frame to get the doors to align height wise, but this is unnecessary with a perfectly flat base underneath. However, there is no method to adjust the gap between the doors, which is fixed by the arch over top of them. It turned out that the end doors collided or overlapped with each other slightly, making it extremely difficult to close them. By loosening the screws holding the arch together and removing the door latch's aluminum strike plate, it was possible to get them working.
There are a few gaps around the tops of the doors which are big enough for wasps to enter, but some duct tape may keep them out. The gaps under the doors are considerable, so to keep snakes and mice out, adding a strip along there is a good idea.
If you use the recommended wood floor underneath, vermin can burrow under to create a nice dry nest, but with the drain holes and seams in the plastic floor their smell will rise into the shed, so consider using a concrete base.
It was close to two days work for two of us, plus the construction of the base. The instructions recommend two people. A lot of the prep work, fitting the parts together e.g. the windows to their sections, can be done ahead of time by one person. A third person as recommended in some videos would be a bit inactive during much of the assembly part.

    A bit fiddly.
And a alot of the assembly processes could be shortened by the factory.
Corners i found putting a block under the floor pannel gave me extra leverage to push them through.

One man, gloves and creative ingenuity g lot it done. The warping of the front and back walls from the sun made it impossible for the gutters to reach….. so I used tape and leaned something heavy against the front wall to get first roof section in. It was down hill from there. Took me 3 days at 4-5 hours each day, but I’m old af, outta shape. This didn’t include me breaking down the pallet on the street and walking EVERY piece 85 feet to the back of my yard the day before. Best workout I had since making babies 14 years ago. One complaint, whoever was in charge of trimming the excess plastic needs a good talking to.

The manual shows that the plywood underneath the shed should have 30 drainage holes. Yet the plastic floor that will be on top the plywood won't have any opening. Anyone has any idea why drainage hole are needed? For the unlikely chance of water spill in the shed?

    • @LifetimeProductsAssembly

The drainage holes are there to prevent flooding in the shed. When there is a rain storm or what not, instead of the water going directly into the shed it will enter the drain holes.

Well I just purchased and put together the 8x10 60005 shed- that was something I would not want to do again! First off, yes the design is good (in theory) and the videos make it seem so easy….. NOT! I watched visors over and over (I’m not stupid) just to make sure I have it right. Putting together trusses I was shorted on some screws and had to go purchase some to put together. The corner panels are hard to put in place and took some finagling to get in place (don’t believe the videos when they show it so easy to put together). Next beef is I chose to put it in corner of yard and build a wood platform at the intersection of 2 fences (getting concrete slab poured would have been many wheelbarrows of concrete to back yard)-this wasn’t greatest of ideas because you need to get behind and on sides of shed to have someone hold panels in place and I had to shift my shed floor out and away from fence and then try to put it in back in place so don’t secure shed floor to platform (which I didn’t) until I had everything put together. Now doors are my next beef-you have the walls up and trusses in and they say just place the door poles in the bushing on floor and push a cotter pin through bushing and hole in door pole and spread cotter pin. Fine (took awhile on this task folks) but got in and then they say put on front gable and push onto door poles but do that and then u need a 3rd person to hold doors in place while you’re trying to secure gable to trusses and get on roof panels at same time. It was a pain to get roof panels attached to gable ends and trusses and beware-if you screw one of screws into plastic but have to back off because something ain’t quite right you will lose your screw purchase in plastic. The videos say install these metal drainage plates by roof trusses but the manual shows what they gave you is plastic with not get instructions on how to install them (c’mon Lifetime update ur videos to reflect what you have in package) and took awhile to figure out how to install plastic part they gave me. Also they talk about installing foam between roof and trusses and gee they didn’t give me any foam so I had to get some and make do. Next beef is the videos-after showing detail maybe show the full picture to see the whole thing. I’m a pretty experienced handy person and mechanically inclined so I’d caution people to think about this purchase beforehand-videos make it look easy but believe me it’s not all it looks to be. While I’m typing this I’m seeing the shed being put together and it is not the the same as shown in video from QR code scan (c’mon Lifetime update ur videos).

1st off thanks for the video which helped alot.
my shed now installed looks amazing and everyone who's seen it says wow, where did you get your shed from .I'm not too sure a wooden shed would get the same reaction. lol.
However having just finished installing mine I've got to say you're spot on Dirk regarding the doors.they are a complete failure in the way they are attached to the shed.
it's like the doors are an after thought.
IMO the door hinges and the way they attach need redesigning.I think it needs more like a upvc setup where there is adjustability on the hinges so the doors align better.
another massive underrated comment is how flat the base needs to be .
last thing is don't be fooled by the video the guy makes it look so easy but it's not in reality.for example you never see him tugging and wrestling to get things to line up,which i was constantly doing.
      also why
go to the trouble of sealing the windows and putting insect netting on the vents when like said in previous comments there are gaps here and there.
As Dirk said get your shit together regarding the putting self tapping (adz ) screws in to pastic holes ! it's very much a one time deal.
overall I'm happy I've got the shed as opposed to a plain wooden one.
once again lifetime thanks for the video.

And John’s instruction video showed every piece drop right into place. I wonder how many takes that yook😢

The only thing I would add about the screws, is don’t over drive/tighten them, and be VERY careful using the screw to pull two parts together. This isn’t would, and you are screwing into thin plastic. Easily stripped, and also having to take out a screw to re-do it can ruin the hole the screw needs to go in to to “bite” and hold the pieces together

This version is cheap cheap compared to that. Also I'd be here for hours timestamping all the areas that are either wrong in the instructiona or does not work exactly as the guy in the video showed such as easily clipping in the corners or simple things like put holes in the wall (AHD) panels so you see if you're lining up to the next wall panel. Overall I regret buying this and it's also 2 times more expensive than the one I bought and installed in the past. We're sorry that you are not happy with your new shed. Our sheds are rated for 65 mph winds. You can increase that by anchoring your shed and adding an extreme weather kit which would increase that to 90 mph. Anchoring your shed to the foundation will help prevent it from blowing over. The last section of the manual shows what you will need to do to complete the anchoring. Failure to anchor the shed may result in property damage and/or personal injury.
