    Thought it was a sears suburban at first with that funky color. Nice job.

    I like how you modified the clutch linkage. It was a definite weak point in the original's design. I had to weld mine back together because it was broken. I hope my weld holds! lol. How is the progress on the cub 100 going?

    Nice wagon puller, it's a shame it's not complete after all the work that was put into the restoration.

    not sure about the year but my nephew restored our original and it has the oil bath air filter, and a pull start, and the original 7hp motor. The pull start is impossible to find parts for from what I understand, so we only use it occasionally to show at the fair, etc. I grew up on that tractor and was expected to mow as soon as I could start it myself which was probably around 8 years old I been mowing a long time Lol.

    i see you have the hydraulic lift on the rear but i didn't see the compressor. I have a 61 with the lift and have fond it to be extremely useful.

      Actually this one only has the manual lift so no hydraulic pump.

    What’s something like this cost?? I’d love to have one!!! I’m a John Deere guy when it comes to modern stuff but IH knocked it out of the park back in the day!

    Really a nice job restoring your tractor... We had a 1964 7 hp, looked a lot like yours, of course I was around 9 years old at the time, and I was the principal driver and lawn mower for the family.. Your tractor brings back memories...

    Beautiful. To me the shade of paint seems a little darker than mine was. Maybe mine was a little sunbleached. Good Luck, Rick

    It's amazing how one catches 'the bug' for these old Cubs. I came across a pretty nice Cub 124 sitting in a coworker's driveway covered in snow. I found out he didn't have a mower all summer, so he bought it pretty cheap out of desperation to get his waist high grass cut! He broke the deck belt and didn't know how to fix it, so it sat. I bought it for $350 & brushed a foot of snow off of it, put in a good battery and inflated a tire. It drove right up into my trailer like it couldn't wait to go to a new home. I didn't know the fiberglass pan seat was highly sought after, but it's there on mine.
    I later found out he'd bought it from someone I knew, and he was glad to hear I ended up with it. His dad bought the 124 and a #1 cart as a set. He offered the cart to me for $100. They are a set once again!

      They are great. If I had a place to store them I would have more.

    • @SPCLPONY

      I wonder if you know your way around the clutch at the front of my 124 Cub? It seems the last time I mowed with it, the drive to the mower deck remained engaged when the lever is in the release/stop mowing position.

    • @IHcubcadet
      @IHcubcadet  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SPCLPONY So basically the way the clutch works is when the lever is in the disengaged position it pushes on a little button on the front of the clutch which pushes the three pressure plate fingers in that releases it. If one of the fingers breaks or the button breaks or wears out the clutch could be engaged all the time. On these tractors it’s best to remove the belt and leave the clutch engaged when an attachment is removed to prevent clutch wearing.

      @@IHcubcadet I see what you mean now that I've had a look at it. It looks like my PTO clutch needs some attention. Thanks for your reply!

    What an amazing and beautiful restoration of such a nice and rugged lil tractor !Congratulations on that lil gal ! She will surely outpull ,outpower ,and outlast any of the junk that's manufactured nowadays available in the big box stores !If only we could return to those days of glory in America when machinery was manufactured here and not abroad .Even tractors of this size were made to last for generations if well taken care of .Can't say enough ,awesome restoration !

      I agree in one way, but completely NOT in another. If you consider the price of ANY garden tractor back then compared to inflation of the price NOW, they were EXTREMELY expensive back then. They were hard for the average person to even afford. Factoring in inflation an old cub from the mid 60s would be about $6,000 today~! Let that sink in. So in other words, you need to compare to a $6,000 tractor of today, not a $1500 one.

    • @jimmytate7587
      @jimmytate7587 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are right, but imagine the cost if todays tractors were built that well.

    Is there a way to replace the drive belt and get it on the clutch pulley without taking the whole clutch assembly out abd apart? Thanks. I'm restoring a 1961.

    • @IHcubcadet
      @IHcubcadet  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes there is a way. It’s been 8 years since I replaced my belt so I am trying to remember how it was done. I think there are two or four bolts that hold the clutch bracket to the frame. Remove those and there should be a way to slide the whole assembly forward. Once the bolts are removed with the help of another person you may be able to use a big screwdriver and carefully pry between the frame and the clutch mount bracket to gain enough space to slide in your new belt.

      Thank you for the reply. I'll try that and let u know how it goes

    • @sg1553
      @sg1553 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got it done. I released the brake pedal the whole way up. Poped off the pin that holds the yoke. Dropped the bracket down. 2 bolts on left and one on the right to drop the pulley bracket end of the clutch system. Wrapped it around the bracket and put the belt around the yoke that I disconnected then reinstalled the yoke pin using a little turn vice to line up the pin hole. Then I reinstalled the three bracket bolts to put the assembly back. I called cub cadet and they emailed me the manual and specs no charge.

      +J Davidson (Mr. Tinker) Yes it did. But like I showed in the words in the very beguining of the video the standard replacement engine fir the 7HP was the k181 8HP. At some point someone probably blew the original and had this installed.
